His ability to build genuine trust and help people around him shine is why he's been recruited to work at some of the most influential companies in history — including LinkedIn, Google, Uber, and Tesla. Not bad for a First-Gen Nuyorican boy from the Bronx! No one taught him how to sell — putting himself out there is just what he's had to do to create the life he wanted. After closing over half a billion dollars in sales at Fortune 500 companies, she still had trouble putting himself out there confidently as an entrepreneur when he got started. Launching his own business was a totally new ball game, but by combining all the strategic thinking he learned working in Silicon Valley with his NYC hustle, he was finally able to figure out his formula for stacking sales. This system has helped him make some serious impact on the lives of the people he serves — and his own. In this week's episode, Luis shares his experience as a gay Latino working in the hypercritical environment of corporate sales. Luis is very aware of the societal expectations placed on him - how machismo defines what kind of man he should be, and how he used to navigate code-switching to fit in. He worked tirelessly and in return, he only received a wobbly chair at the table. He soon realized he was not just keeping pace, but outperforming his peers. That's when he decided to grow beyond his current employer, build his personal brand, and launch his own company.  Keep up with Luis on his website and his LinkedIn. "The secret to your success is really about how well you take care of yourself," says Luis Baez. In this episode of the Authentic Change Podcast, host Mike Horne welcomes a special guest, Luis Baez, a Bronx-raised, proud gay, Puerto Rican-American, and former Silicon Valley C-suite professional. Luis is dedicated to serving online business owners, including consultants, coaches, B2B startups, and SaaS companies. With over 14 years of experience in sales and marketing, Luis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. As an introvert, Luis shares his unique perspective on sales and entrepreneurship. Despite his natural inclination towards the background, he has found success by focusing on connecting with people, earning their trust, and stepping into a consultative and coaching role. Luis emphasizes the importance of authenticity in sales, encouraging professionals to be themselves and have the courage to admit when they don't have all the answers. Throughout the episode, Luis discusses the changing landscape of business-to-business sales, particularly in the virtual realm. He highlights the need for personalized and engaging customer experiences, as well as the importance of surprising and delighting customers along their buying journey. Luis also shares his insights on the initial conversation between a coach and a prospect, emphasizing the need to focus on the prospect's needs and goals. Luis's ultimate goal is to empower and enable sales reps to take ownership of their book of business and create meaningful connections with customers. Mike and Luis discuss the benefits of having a sales coach, including consistent growth, a flexible schedule, work-life balance, and a healthier lifestyle. Luis encourages listeners to prioritize self-care and take care of their mental and physical well-being, as it directly impacts their success in sales.   Quotes: "We want to be thinking about, of course, designing customer experiences that meet them exactly where they expect to be met, but also think about the element or the opportunity of surprising and delighting." (13:29 | Luis Baez)  "You have to help that person organize the chaos in their mind and articulate the problem, and then help them design the path to getting there." (16:10 | Luis Baez) "Authenticity requires the additional layer of courage and making sure that you are expending that energy and showing up as yourself." (21:48 | Luis Baez) "The secret to your success is really about how well you take care of yourself. Because the work that you do requires optimal quality of mind and body."

In this episode, I am bringing in Luis Báez, Founder and Sales Enablement Specialist  at LuisBaez.com.  We dive deep into how podcast publicity has impacted his business over the past year, the opportunities that have opened up for him during this time, and his experience in working with the Publicity by Christina team.    As a business owner you are managing and tackling so many things at once, including publicity (which you may or may not even feel comfortable doing). But what happens if this gets taken out of your hands and is handled by a team of experts who know what they're doing?    Luis has seen and felt the positive changes his business has had since working with us. It hasn't been an easy road with quick turnarounds, but the quality of relationships and connections podcast guesting has brought in his business has been nothing short of amazing.   True enough, he is slowly-nut-surely reaping what he has sowed in his investment of time, effort and everything in between. Learn the processes he has gone through and what he is doing to continue growing his business through podcast guesting in our conversation.   [01:59] A short backgrounder on Luis and how he has impacted Christina's business. [04:37] How things have shifted in his business since he started guesting on other podcasts in the past year. Despite being an introvert, Luis ended up working in sales. Luis is able to build genuine trust and help people around him, and has been recruited to work at some of the most influential companies in history — including LinkedIn, Google, Uber, and Tesla. A first generation immigrant from the Bronx, Luis taught himself how to sell, which has led him to launch his own business, through which he makes serious impact in the lives of the people he serves. He designed his business around doing exactly what he loves in an ethical and impactful way.You probably know what intellectual property is generally, but what is IP in the context of sales? We start our discussion with some of the fundamentals around intellectual property. Luis explains what constitutes as IP and how that can translate to what your small business offers. In fact, you may already have products that work as intellectual property or can with some minor updates. Consider the knowledge you can share, whether as an online course or as a book. Why is intellectual property such an asset for small businesses? What differentiates it from other, more traditional, assets? Luis offers an in-depth look at the differences between IP and traditional assets, mentioning pros and cons of both. But as he describes here, IP can be a particularly lucrative asset to your business. So you're onboard with making IP an asset for your company. You may be wondering how small businesses can maximize their intellectual property. This is a great question, and one that Luis is more than happy to answer on our podcast. He shares some ideas on how you can grow your IP to make it more marketable and lucrative. We also get into some more technical issues. What are ways to solidify and protect your intellectual property as you grow your business? What should companies be doing – or avoiding! – in order to protect their IP? How can small businesses can grow that asset? Luis offers helpful advice on all points in our podcast. Luis states that, historically speaking, generational wealth has been built most often through some sort of property ownership. What happens when an entrepreneur starts shifting their mindset to identify intellectual property as a source of generational wealth? We end our discussion with how IP can help lift up more marginalized groups of people – including people of color, women, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community – giving them a new path towards growing wealth.
