Richard Eagleton is a musician and spiritual seeker who met Jaymee's parents in the 1970's, eventually joining their band in Los Angeles in 1976, the year Jaymee was born. Born in Beirut, Lebanon to an American Diplomat in the 1950's, Richard had a rich multicultural experience throughout his youth, setting the stage nicely for the spiritual exploration and psychedelic ingestion that arrived in the late 1960's. After studying various spiritual paths and receiving teachings from notable teachers such as Muktananda and Neem Karoli Baba, Richard eventually had a chance meeting with one of the great Tibetan Buddhist masters of the 20th century, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, and instantly became a lifelong student and collaborator.  Richard took interest in becoming a documentary filmmaker, and one of his first projects was documenting John Cleese meeting His Holiness The Dalai Lama at his monastery in Dharmsala. He also had the honor of being hired to document a rare meeting between The Prince Of Ethiopia and Rita Marley at her home in Jamaica, and shares wisdom he learned from encounters with Jamaican shamans on that trip and (truly) so much more.  This conversation was the first ever between Jaymee and Richard, who hadn't seen Jaymee since he was a newborn in 1976. In the first 5 minutes of their reuniting, it became obvious that the two were old friends who had simply never met, who now had a ton to catch up on. Jaymee fired up the Rodecaster Pro and had mics up in minutes, so you'll have the opportunity to enjoy one of Jaymee's favorite conversations on the podcast to date. The discussion covers the history of African-Americans in the Foreign Service from Reconstruction to the modern day, as well as the barriers they faced in a State Department that initially confined them to just a few posts in predominantly black countries, maintaining racial inequality from office culture to the lunchroom. Listen and hear about how America's inequality affected Cold War rhetoric, the efforts of these trailblazing diplomats to create opportunity at home and abroad, the progress that has been made, and the work still to be done, as well as insights on resilience and breaking barriers in the present day.

Appalachian State University professor Michael Krenn's 1999 nonfiction novel “Black Diplomacy” is the inspiration for a recent documentary. According to The Appalachian Online, the book describes the accomplishments of Edward Dudley, Terence Todman, and Carl Rowan, who were three important African American ambassadors of the 1900s. The documentary itself is titled “The American Diplomat” and started production in 2014 after director Leola Calzolai-Stewart read about the ambassador's history. After calling up Professor Krenn, she decided that both the author and the book would be great wells of knowledge to pull from. After having been screened at the JFK Presidential Library, “The American Diplomat” is scheduled to be screened on campus at Room 420 in Plemmons Student Union at 6PM on Feb. 22. The Watauga Democrat states that The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country has formally announced that it has hit its funding campaign of $10 million. Officially funded as of December 31, 2021, the theatre now has the means to finish the construction that it proposed a decade before. Appalachian Theatre of the High Country chairman Keith Martin is on record stating that the accomplishment is “wonderful” and everyone involved is “extremely grateful” for the “generosity” of the community. The Wall Street Journal reports that many companies are taking different means in order to keep employees in important manufacturing positions. One of these methods is switching from annual pay raise reviews to more recurrent reviews, such as every quarter. This is apparently the case in order to “compete for talent and keep pace with rising wages”. Company officials state that the pandemic has caused the economy to “bounce” back and forth, creating a quickly-evolving market that is currently seeing rising hiring costs. Today's weather is brought to us by Booneweather.com. This Thursday morning you can expect some wet weather. We're going to see continual clouds and fog with rain popping up here and there throughout the whole day. It's going to hit a high of 48 and a low of 44 degrees.

We’re on the road this week in Washington DC but, the show must go on! The is a prime example of how the key to modern business is adaptability. Like the saying goes “Adapt or Die”. Business practices that have worked in the past don’t necessarily work in 2019 (and beyond). Changes in the economy, technology, consumer attention, competition, communication, etc…. have all created opportunities for success is your adaptable and open to change as needed. If your attitude is correct, you can find the right tools, techniques and strategies to take advantage of change, not be crushed by it. Shout-outs to the reason we’re in DC this week, our new clients The American Academy of Diplomacy (AAD). We’re working with two AAD podcasts American Diplomat and The General and the Ambassador to reach a broader public in the American heartland while developing engaged audiences and a sustainable business model. We recording this episode from The Wink Hotel, a great place to stay in DC. Thus, proving our adaptability and good taste in travel arrangements. On each episode of the #NeoMarketing podcast, The Golding Group partners Pritch Pritchard, APR and Kyle Golding briefly (12-15 mins.) discuss best practices, latest trends and modern techniques for professional business communications including advertising, marketing, digital channels, social media, public relations and alternative options. Our goal is to be educational, informative and (hopefully) entertaining. Ambassador Rick Barton currently teaches at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, where he serves as the co-director of Princeton’s Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiatives and Ullman Fellowships.  He has served as an American ambassador to the United Nations and the Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees at the United Nations, and he was the first Assistant Secretary of State for Conflict and Stabilization Operations under former president Barack Obama.  He has led conflict management initiatives in crisis zones across the globe, in countries as diverse as Haiti, Iraq, Nigeria and Turkey. Ambassador Barton is dedicated to advancing peaceful democratic change. In business, politics and government service, he pursues this challenge by building organizations and partnerships that are: driven by mission and principles; committed to learning and mutual respect; and measured by impact. He believes leadership is most likely to be effective if there is a sincere effort to develop a common understanding of what is most important, a clear set of priority actions, an integrated team, independent measures of progress and tireless communication. Over the past twenty years, Ambassador Barton has worked in 40+ countries, engaging with local people and opportunities to catalyze progress. When you expand trust, seek innovation, and encourage ingenuity, risk taking is rewarded. Jim Horn is a career American Diplomat who served abroad for more than a quarter of a century, mostly in third-world countries, ten of those years in the Middle East where he came to really know and clearly understand true Islam far better than most. He has served as a Morse Code radio operator and a cryptographer in the U.S. Navy, as well with the State Department as a counter terrorism Project Manager, Embassy Security officer, and Vice Consul. He was specially selected and trained and was available world-wide to act as a hostage negotiator. Jim Horn has held the highest levels of TOP SECRET security clearances with code word access to compartmentalized intelligence. Among his many awards includes one of the Nation's highest civilian awards for Valor in Cambodia for rescuing wounded civilians from a bombed and burning building while under hostile fire in 1975. The title of the book is Morse Code shorthand for "Say it again, please?" or renditions thereof in the vernacular. Jim Horn is active in educating Americans about the true nature of Islam, private sector security, and has consulted with law enforcement. Portions of his book were redacted by the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of State. This version retains its pre-redacted integrity and character - and tonight Jim Horn joins the Political Pistachio Radio Revolution to discuss his book, "honest" Muslims, and America's role in confronting the madness.
