He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1981 and has written over one hundred technical and scientific papers and nine books. He was an assistant adjunct professor at Boston University from 1981 to 1983 where he taught courses in computer architecture and image processing.Outside of his occupation in the aerospace industry, Dr. Carlotto's journey as an independent scientist began in 1985 when he first learned of the infamous Face on Mars in a newspaper article. His first book The Martian Enigmas examines the Face and other unusual objects on the Red Planet first imaged by a Viking orbiter spacecraft in 1976. His research based on a method known as shape-from-shading to analyze the 3-D structure of the Face was included by Carl Sagan in his TV series Cosmos. Dr. Carlotto's second book The Cydonia Controversy steps back from the science of the Mars investigation examining it within the context of the centuries-old search for life beyond Earth and its possible implications.His journey took an unexpected turn in 2003 when he got lost exploring the woods in a place called Dogtown – a deserted colonial settlement in the middle of Cape Ann – an island community north of Boston. There being no detailed maps of the area, he decided to map old roads and trails, stonewalls, cellar holes, and other features using newly emerging GPS technology. His next book The Dogtown Guide, a far cry from Mars, was a field guide and history of Dogtown that received a Preservation Award from the Gloucester Historical Commission in 2007. Relating history and landscape his next book, The Island Woods published in 2012 is a three-hundred-year-long spatial history of the forested interior of Cape Ann complementing other books written about Gloucester's well-known maritime heritage. Combining maps and genealogy data, his third book in the series The Cellars Speak offers new insight into the early settlers who lived in the woods of Cape Ann hundreds of years ago.Another book written at this time Diary of a Serial App Developer is a tongue-in-cheek autobiography of a ten-year stint moonlighting as an early iPhone app developer.Dr. Carlotto's collaboration in a study of astronomical alignments at a Native American ceremonial site published by the Massachusetts Archaeological Society in 2015 was an inkling of things to come. While planning a trip to Mexico a few years later he found the archaeological sites he hoped to visit were not aligned in any obvious way. Before Atlantis published in 2018, describes his discovery that these and other ancient sites across the world appear to have been aligned to previous locations of the North Pole, and virtue of their alignment could be tens of thousands to more than a hundred thousand years old.Completing a book started in the 1990s, Not of This World, released in 2021, examines historical UFO cases and recently disclosed reports of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). His analysis reveals that some UFOs/UAP are likely real, exceed known aerospace capabilities, appear to defy the laws of physics as they are currently understood, and might not be extraterrestrial in origin.Beyond Atlantis, his next book is the culmination of research into the lost civilizations of the world that began in Before Atlantis. "A eseque avvenute" di Massimo Carlotto e "Qualcosa che brilla" di Michela MarzanoAscoltare blues e sorseggiare Calvados sono due dei tratti distintivi dell'Alligatore, al secolo Marco Buratti, personaggio creato da Massimo Carlotto esattamente trent'anni fa. Investigatore senza licenza, lavora con i suoi compagni di sempre, Max La Memoria e Beniamino Rossini. Ha passato un periodo in carcere e una volta fuori accetta di indagare solo su casi che ritiene importanti. Ha un grande senso della giustizia, non ama le armi, e il lavoro sporco lo lascia a Beniamino. Con il passare del tempo è diventato più riflessivo e malinconico. Il nuovo romanzo con l'Alligatore è "A esequie avvenute" (Einaudi). Otto personaggi, otto adolescenti in terapia presso un centro medico psico-educativo: c'è Clara che ruba qualunque cosa, Sara, alla quale è stata diagnosticata una depressione, Noemi che soffre di bulimia, dice che ha sempre fame, Giampaolo, che ha degli scatti d'ira, Viola che si taglia. Ma c'è anche Luca, che ha tentato il suicidio. Il centro dove sono in terapia è stato creato da Mauro Rolli, uno psichiatra che ha abbandonato i metodi tradizionali di approccio alla cura. Da giovane, negli anni '90, aveva lavorato a Padova insieme a uno psichiatra per il quale invece tutti i sintomi dovevano essere inseriti in uno schema preciso: a stesso sintomo corrispondeva stessa diagnosi. Rolli mette in dubbio questo metodo rigido quando incontra una giovane paziente, Arianna, che all'epoca aveva 22 anni ed era stata ricoverata per un tentato suicidio. Da quel momento in poi nasce nella sua testa l'idea di un approccio diverso, consapevole del fatto che non esistono soluzioni facili e rapide, ma che dietro ogni sintomo c'è una storia e che i giovani hanno soprattutto bisogno di essere ascoltati.

In 1982, Argentine geneticist Victor Penchaszadeh was living in exile in New York when he received a call that would change the course of his career. Two founding members of the campaign group, the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, were asking for his help to find their kidnapped grandchildren. Between 1976 and 1983, Argentina was under military rule. During this period, thousands of mainly young, left-wing people were forcibly disappeared - taken to clandestine detention centres, where many were tortured and killed. Hundreds of babies were born in captivity. Their mothers were later murdered, and the children were often given to families with ties to the regime - and never told their true identities. The Grandmothers travelled the world, desperately asking scientists one question: Without the presence of the parents, could their blood be used to identify their lost grandchildren? Dr Penchaszadeh was the first to say yes. He tells Vicky Farncombe how that answer led to the creation of the world's first national genetic data bank—and the eventual reunion of 140 grandchildren with their real families.Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive. Las Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo están de gira por Europa para crear conciencia sobre las políticas contra la memoria del Gobierno de Javier Milei, que ha eliminado subsidios a las organizaciones hasta el punto de poner en peligro su existencia. RFI habló con una de las nietas restituidas por la organización, Claudia Poblete. Claudia Poblete, una de los 139 nietos recuperados de Argentina, forma parte de la comisión directiva de la conocida organización Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. Junto a otros miembros, se presenta este martes ante el Parlamento Europeo para denunciar las gestiones del presidente Javier Milei en desmantelar y desfinanciar las ayudas a las instituciones dedicadas a la búsqueda de personas desaparecidas en su país.“Poder ser escuchados es importante”“Poder ser escuchados en este momento para nosotros ya es realmente muy importante. Lo que nos dejaría satisfechos es lograr que hubiera algún tipo de reclamo hacia el Gobierno argentino para que cesen los embates contra las políticas de derechos humanos, así como tantas políticas antiderechos que también están llevando a cabo”, explica a RFI.“Y también poder volver en algún momento tal vez a tener una audiencia donde podamos ser escuchados en el Pleno de la Comisión de Derechos Humanos del Parlamento. Es parte de la tarea de las Abuelas desde siempre, buscar ayuda de la comunidad internacional cuando no se puede conseguir en Argentina”, prosigue.La audiencia ante el Parlamento de la Unión Europea se produce tras un pedido de ayuda que solicitó Estela de Carlotto, la fundadora del grupo Abuelas que a sus 94 años no pudo viajar al viejo continente. La delegación que llegó a Bruselas aprovechará para pedir ayuda financiera y relanzar la búsqueda en Europa visitando, además de Bélgica, España e Italia.“La búsqueda de las Abuelas continúa aún”“En Europa fue encontrada una nieta en los Países Bajos y otra nieta en España, en Valencia. Y después hay familiares de desaparecidos que buscan nietos y nietas que viven en Europa. El anteúltimo nieto restituido tiene a su hermano que vive en Canarias. Y muchos de ellos incluso son ciudadanos europeos porque hubo muchas familias, debido a las oleadas inmigratorias de Argentina, que tienen vínculos fuertes con Europa”, detalla Poblete.“Es difícil estimar un número de nietos o nietas que puedan estar en Europa en total. Buscamos alrededor de 300, que como tienen mi edad (alrededor de los 45, 49 años), son personas que pueden haber migrado por sus propios medios. Así que para nosotros es muy importante también, aparte de toda esta denuncia de la situación actual, llevar este mensaje de que la búsqueda de las Abuelas continúa aún. De hecho, la última nieta se encontró en enero del 2025”, agrega.Desde que asumió el poder, Javier Milei ordenó el cierre de la unidad especial de investigación de la Comisión Nacional por el Derecho a la Identidad, desfinanció el Banco Nacional de Datos Genéticos, disolvió el equipo de investigación y análisis de los archivos de las Fuerzas Armadas, y restringió el acceso a la documentación oficial en los Ministerios de Defensa y Seguridad.Tras 47 años de búsqueda, el grupo de Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo sigue encontrando nietas y nietos por varios rincones del mundo.

The Cuban Underwater FormationsDuring an exploration and survey mission off the west coast of Cuba in 2001, unusual stone structures were detected in sonar imagery at depths ranging from 600 to 750 meters. It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a UFO! It's an Iranian mothership! It's a radiation probe! Or maybe it's really just a plane. The wave of alleged noctural drone sightings in New Jersey has led to some wild theories about what the mysterious lights in the sky could be.Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R–N.J.) claimed that the drones were coming from an Iranian "mothership" in the Atlantic Ocean, then retracted his claim after the Pentagon denied it. (The Iranian navy does have a sort of aircraft carrier for drones—and publicly-available satellite imagery shows that it's still sitting in the Persian Gulf.) The mayor of Belleville, New Jersey, claimed the drones were part of a secret search operation for missing radioactive material, although the materials have already been recovered.  Rep. Nancy Mace (R–S.C.) even asked whether it could be aliens from outer space.But there might be a simpler explanation. Gov. Phil Murphy has suggested that at least some of the sightings were just normal air traffic misidentified by over-eager drone spotters. Police documents obtained by Reason under the New Jersey Open Public Records Act back up that theory. And mingled in this earth are human skeletons, the tusks of elephants, etc., distributed in a way which indicates that the overflow of water and mud was sudden, giving no time for escape."•The “elephant” bones he discovered were really those the the wholly mammoth. Mammoth remains were unearthed near Mexico City in 2020. •Mammoth remains found in this part of the world are consistent with major climate changes at the end of the last ice age. The legendary Labyrinth of Hawara was brought to the attention of the Western world by Herodotus in the fifth century BC. He describes an above-ground structure that he saw, and one below-ground that he was denied access to by the Egyptians.Moreover, they decided to preserve the memory of their names by a common memorial, and so they made a labyrinth a little way beyond lake Moeris and near the place called the City of Crocodiles. I have seen it myself, and indeed words cannot describe it; if one were to collect the walls and evidence of other efforts of the Greeks, the sum would not amount to the labor and cost of this labyrinth. And yet the temple at Ephesus and the one on Samos are noteworthy. Though the pyramids beggar description and each one of them is a match for many great monuments built by Greeks, this maze surpasses even the pyramids. It has twelve roofed courts with doors facing each other: six face north and six south, in two continuous lines, all within one outer wall. There are also double sets of chambers, three thousand altogether, fifteen hundred above and the same number under ground. We ourselves viewed those that are above ground, and speak of what we have seen, but we learned through conversation about the underground chambers; the Egyptian caretakers would by no means show them, as they were, they said, the burial vaults of the kings who first built this labyrinth, and of the sacred crocodiles. Thus we can only speak from hearsay of the lower chambers; the upper we saw for ourselves, and they are creations greater than human. The exits of the chambers and the mazy passages hither and thither through the courts were an unending marvel to us as we passed from court to apartment and from apartment to colonnade, from colonnades again to more chambers and then into yet more courts. Over all this is a roof, made of stone like the walls, and the walls are covered with cut figures, and every court is set around with pillars of white stone very precisely fitted together. Near the corner where the labyrinth ends stands a pyramid two hundred and forty feet high, on which great figures are cut. Recently, Earth Ancients has presented programs revealing evidence of ancient archeology on the surface of Mars.
