She has a Master of Science degree in Business Leadership from Concordia College of New York from which she graduated with Honors in 2017 and received the Young Alumni of Distinction Award in 2019. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Family Support Consultants. She is a member of New York Women's Chamber of Commerce, Women in Black of the Greater New York area, a member of The International Society of Female Professionals, and a member of the Supervised Visitation Network. Ann worked as social worker in New York City Child Welfare for over 25 years and has Empowered, Coached and Mentored women who have their children placed in the foster care system. She teaches Parenting Skills classes, provides Supervised Visitation Services on custody court cases. She also provides Reunification Coaching Services to birth parents of children in foster care. She is a Chaplain and also a Board-Certified Christian Counselor through the National Association of Christian Counselors. She provides Faith-Based Counseling as requested. Ann Elliott worked in the New York City Child Welfare system for 25 years. She is a former CPS- Child Protective Services worker for the Administration for Children Services where she worked for 10 years and 15 years in the foster care Agencies. She has firsthand knowledge of the trafficking of children as she was approached to traffic children in her cases by her superiors. It was then that she began to see how extensive and complicit the agency, courts judges and attorneys were, in this vast criminal empire of trafficking children in the child welfare system. She has put her life at risk by coming forward with this information but knows that she must be a voice for the voiceless at all costs. In Honor of Senator Nancy Schaefer a Warrior and Champion for Child Welfare Reform, who stated “I believe Child Protective Service [CPS] nationwide has become corrupt and that the entire system is broken beyond repair. I am convinced parents and families should be warned of the dangers”, Ann has created an organization – REFORM CWN + FAMILY SUPPORT CONSULTANTS - passionate about advocating for the reform of the child welfare and family court system in New York, to be Agents of Change and Reform for the Child Welfare and Family Court Judicial System. The mission is to address the concerns of the Adoption and Safe Family Act (ASFA), that is pro-adoption and that expedites Termination of Parental Rights. The organization also tackles the systemic failures within Child Protective Services (CPS), foster care and Family Court. FAMILY SUPPORT CONSULTANTS is dedicated to Parent Empowerment & Advocacy and Family Reunification, as well as : highlighting concerns such as high turnover of CPS in field offices, illegal removal of documentation that supports parents progress and that compromises their court cases and financial incentives that compromises the welfare of children in the system and Family Court. The focus is also to bring attention to the concerns of child trafficking through the foster care system, family court corruption, compromised custody cases by rogue judges with judicial immunity and advocating for better support and resources for parents and children reunification and family stabilization. ..... kudos to Mr. Thomas Chung, her mentor.

Immigration Baldemar Velasquez | F.L.O.C. - President & Founder According to a new Scripps News/Ipsos survey, more than half of all Americans, including a quarter of Democrats, support the mass deportation of immigrants who are living in the country illegally. Immigration continues to be in the top 5 issues driving people to the polls in November. But, as we see with each report, there needs to be some perspective, and it may come from the American Immigration Council and a history lesson on the foundation of our ancestors. Neighbor 2 Neighbor Rev. Gayle Catinella | Rector, St. Michael's in the Hills Church Raina Dawson | ABLE/LAWO I'm sure you've seen the signs - HEART your neighbor. They've popped up all over NW Ohio in the past several months. It's all part of the local neighbor2neighbor effort. On their website they say: The fracturing of our society into good and bad, people I agree with and people I don't agree with, people like me and people not like me, is moving us so far away from each other that it's hard to imagine coming together again. If we look for differences, we will find them. But if we look for similarities, we will find that as well. The time has come to repair the breach. The time has come to soften our hard hearts. It won't be perfect. But if we can commit to treating our neighbors, all our neighbors, all people, with civility and respect, with basic decency, we will get back the society we all long for-peaceful, kind and productive. It takes everyone to declare that we value our neighbors for real change to occur. So, during this time of political back-and-forth, during a contentious election season, conversation is happening. ISSUE 30 - Lucas County Children Services Levy Randy Muth | Exec. Dir. - Lucas County Children Services 1.5 Mill Levy. Executive Director says the agency will run out of money come December 2025.
Designed with a vision of equity, Ohio's new shared practice model is PACT — Practice in Action Together. PACT has been developed for (and by) public children services agencies: caseworkers, supervisors, and agency leaders working alongside families, former foster youth, academics, and other experts. In this 18th episode of “Let's Have a Conversation,” Bob Friend is joined by Mike, Ashley, and Summer, who speak of the development of the Practice in Action Together (PACT) effort in Ohio. It's a story of healing by a parent and social worker via the Public Children Services Association of Ohio (PCSAO) in which the values and actions of PACT were central and visible within this story. This is a captivating pod and we encourage you to have a good listen! Nobody starts working in the foster care system because they think it's going to be easy. The truth is, despite how deeply fulfilling a career in this field can be—it can also feel stressful and discouraging at times. For both new and experienced workers, it's easy to feel defeated and wonder if the work you're doing is enough. If there's anyone who can help us understand this better, it's Carmen Nance—a woman with 30 years of experience serving the foster care community as part of the State of Georgia/Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services. In this episode, Carmen shares the valuable insights she learned from interacting with people from every side of the foster care system, why a community of supportive peers is crucial for workers in the foster care community, what social workers wish people knew about the challenges and rewards of this role, and so much more. It's been one year since Roe v. Wade has been overturned, and so alternatives to abortion, such as adoption, is on our minds here at The Republican Professor podcast. Today's special guest is Herbie Newell, president and executive director of Lifeline Children Services in Alabama. He has seen young women in blue states, not just red states, reach out for support in choosing continued Life for their unborn children. It's a great time to reflect on the importance of the support young, vulnerable families face now that abortion has become, thankfully, unthinkable for so many. We discuss the importance and historical, classically understood design of the family and how we can best match that in the United States when vulnerable young women are faced with the tremendous stress and challenge of seeking care for her unexpected, precious child. Mr. Newell takes us through some of the options available through his organization, including other options as well by comparison, for any families that sense the call for care and concern for children in need. In today's episode of the "Helping Families Be Happy" podcast, Christopher Robbins, co-founder of Familius Publishing, husband, father of nine, author, fisherman, backpacker, and aspirational musician based in the Central Valley of California, talks to Ofelia Gonzales, a wife, mother of three children, lover of life, family people and communicator by heart. She joined the team of the local community-based organization Children Services Network, CSN in 2002 as a community organizer, where she focused on grassroots organizing campaigns and efforts to empower families in low-income communities and provide children with school readiness opportunities. Ofelia finds great pleasure in building connections, linking families to services that help meet everyday needs, and representing an organization that focuses on assisting parents to raise happy, healthy children. Today they will discuss quality childcare, the information that aligns with its familiar habits like learn together, love together, give together and read together. Episode Highlights: 02:24: As per Ofelia at Central Valley Children's Services Network, their mission is to improve the quality of care for children of the Central Valley, but it's a principle that goes everywhere. 03:07: Even if the child is possibly not in a childcare center, maybe they're in a licensed care home or with relatives or neighbors, we want to know what type of care our child is receiving, says Ofelia. 04:34: When we speak quality childcare, we want to go above and beyond. We want to make sure that there are programs that are really tying into helping the child transition into the early care and education to them, says Ofelia. 05:15: As per Christopher milestones development and milestones help are a few terms, help us understand what some of those might be. 05:54: When we say children learn through play, they absolutely do. Sing the song of colors with them, show them a picture book of animals, and they will learn what animals are. 01: Early literacy is a tremendous component of the longest programs that we've had here at Children Services network, because not only are we modeling early literacy, but we are modeling positive parent-child interaction, says Ofelia. 08:56: What certifications do you have, have you done any training, what are the discipline policies, these are the things that oftentimes providers don't have to do, but if they're doing it, then they want to do their best to implement quality childcare. 09:16: An infant needs different care than possibly its toddler or a school-age child. 10:15: When we are working families, we know sometimes we just need the best, but we need to keep in mind the little points that could make a difference in the type of care that our children are receiving. 11:02: It's easy to feel guilty and say I am not spending enough time with my child, but we have to keep in mind we can spend the whole day at home and if we are just on our phones and not pay attention to children or not doing quality investment of your time then it's nothing. 13:08: You don't have to invest so much money, find something like a recycled paper that you're probably going to toss out, crumble it up into a little ball play, catch 5 minutes in the living room with that and. kids love it, and you are spending that quality time with them. 3 Key Highlights When we are thinking about quality childcare, or when we might be working and we might need to take our child to someplace for the day, what questions should we be asking when we're doing that? Make observations when you go out for childcare. Check how childcare providers interact with children. How does the provider interact with a parent? Because that also tells you something. Ofelia shares the top things that come to mind that we as parents, we as teachers, and professional childcare need to be doing to help this rising generation. Tweetable Quotes "If you are looking for childcare, no matter who's going to be watching your child, if you have to go to work, if you have to go to school, you want to know that your child is in a safe place and child is receiving the most optimal care possible." - Ofelia "Quality childcare is going above and beyond the basic licensing requirement." - Ofelia "Quality always surpasses the quantity of the time that we're with our children." - Ofelia Resources Mentioned Helping Families Be Happy Podcast Apple https://www.cbctn.org/ Podcast Editing

This year, regions across the United States have seen a significant increase in respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, cases. While this respiratory virus typically causes mild, cold-like symptoms, RSV can be serious for both infants and older adults. Locally, Enloe Medical Center has seen a similar increase in RSV cases and admissions to the medical center. Host Suzie Lawry-Hall and Amy Dolinar, Enloe's Director of Children Services, break down RSV, including causes, symptoms, and the impact it is currently having on our community.
It's our Thanksgiving episode! We can think of no better way to honor the spirit of this holiday than to talk to Marisa Kraus, Senior Nutrition Coordinator for Jewish Family & Children Services in Monmouth County. Every month, Marisa coordinates the Meals on Wheels program which has nearly tripled in size since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. In her busy schedule, she took a few minutes to talk to Rabbi Pont about JFCS, the important work it does, and the growing need that local families have to avoid hunger during the holidays.
Buford came into Friday's game with a perfect record, ranked No. 1 in the state and a consensus top-10 team nationally, and winner of three straight state championships. Walton was not intimidated. The Raiders prepared this week as if Buford was just another opponent and left Tom Riden Stadium with a 42-35 victory in the second round of the Class AAAAAAA state playoffs. The win sent shockwaves far beyond the Buford and Walton communities — but not as much on the Raiders' sideline. Walton will return to the road for the quarterfinals next week, facing another unbeaten foe in Carrollton. Of Buford's 11 wins this season, eight of them were decided by more than 20 points, but that did not faze Walton's will to play spoiler. Walton will play Friday night on the road against Carrollton. About half a dozen local families that grew a little larger this year via adoption celebrated the milestone Saturday at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. The event was hosted by the Cobb County office of the Division of Family and Children Services, the state organization that provides child protective services, foster care and adoption. Along with a breakfast of chicken and waffles, Cobb DFCS provided photographers for the families to take Thanksgiving portraits, and gave each family a $25 Walmart gift card to have the photos printed. Deputy Director of Cobb DFCS Carmen Nance organized the event to honor adopting families. She said Cobb has 436 children in foster care. According to Nance, the county's foster system needs community support — more foster families, and more resources for those families. Nance said it is important for children in foster care to stay within their home community if possible, so they can maintain some of their social network through friends, school, and church. Nance said the Cobb County Foster Adoptive Parent Association is a good resource for those looking to foster, adopt, or support the local foster system. MUST Ministries is expecting 10,000 runners this Thanksgiving Day as the nonprofit celebrates 20 years of racing against poverty with the MDJ Gobble Jog. Since 2002, families from all over the world have come together on Marietta Square to run in the Marietta Daily Journal MUST Ministries Gobble Jog, one of the largest Thanksgiving Day races in the Southeast. The annual event raises funds for those in need who come to MUST for housing, food, job assistance, clothing and more. This year, MUST will help more than 60,000 people across eight metro Atlanta counties find a second chance at hope. The Mount Paran Christian cheerleading team recently won its 11th straight state championship in competition cheer held at the Macon Centreplex. The team faced not only a new competitive class when the Eagles moved up to Class AA, but also extended its streak with a new coaching staff led by McKenzie Rutan, Shelley Ray, and Nikki Hamilton. To date, the squad is the only team in Georgia, in any classification, to have won 11 consecutive cheer titles. The streak began with the 2012-13 season. Competition cheerleading is acknowledged as an Olympic sport and has been recognized by the GHSA/NCAA for more than 25 years. The cheer squad holds the most consecutive state championships for any sport in Cobb County, and is closing in on the Walton girls tennis team's mark of 13 titles in 14 years, and 16 championships in 18 years, between 2001 and 2018. This 11th consecutive title also puts the competition cheer team second in most consecutive titles in the state in any sport behind Jefferson High School wrestling, which won every year from 2001 to 2019. Five interceptions and a lost fumble led to five Rockmart touchdowns in North Cobb Christian's 63-10 loss at Rockmart in the second round of the Class AA state playoffs Friday night. Coming off of a thrilling 14-6 win in the first round, No. 10 North Cobb Christian (10-2) was hit with costly mistakes on offense against the Number 7-ranked Yellow Jackets to lead to an early exit in the playoffs. The Eagles went into halftime down 28-10 after getting some traction on a nine-play, 76-yard scoring drive late in the second quarter that ended with quarterback Matty Go finding Skyler Parker down the left sideline for an 18-yard touchdown pass. When they came back from the break, that momentum deteriorated quickly. Rockmart scored on the first possession of the second half as Cam Ferguson capped an 8-play, 70-yard drive with a 22-yard touchdown run. Ty'Shawn Johnson intercepted Go two plays into North Cobb Christian's possession, leading to a short field and a 15-yard touchdown run by Rockmart quarterback JD Davis a short time later. Go finished 9-of-16 for 114 yards, all of which came in the first half as the senior was 0-for-4 in the second half, each time getting picked off. The Eagles were held to 75 yards rushing for a total of 189 yards of offense. Rockmart, meanwhile, had 304 yards with 291 coming on the ground. Davis and Ferguson each had two touchdowns while Brent Washington scored two touchdowns, one on a 2-yard run and another on a 60-yard interception return, both in the second quarter. Marietta used bookstore Book Nook will close, according to a letter written by the store's owners. Before shuttering, the Marietta Book Nook on Roswell Road is discounting nearly everything in its stock by 50% every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the rest of November. The store will not be open on other days. The letter does not specify an end date for the sale or an ultimate closing date. Trade credits will still be accepted at the other Book Nook locations in Decatur and Lilburn. Some items are exempt from the 50% off discount: comics, graphic novels, and premium items, which will be identified by a star sticker. Everything else is half off. The Book Nook had been temporarily closed to customers for about a month because of a change in management, according to the store's manager, Alexa Dunford. Dunford was not sure what caused the change. During that time, staff have been reorganizing the shelves to prepare for the sale. The book store has been a staple of Marietta's used book market since 1973. #CobbCounty #Georgia #LocalNews - - - - - The Marietta Daily Journal Podcast is local news for Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna, and all of Cobb County. This episode was recorded 5/24/2022. Out of respect for the horrific events and victims in Uvalde, Texas we delayed release until 5/27/22. Because the Kansas system failed Lucas and his story needs to be shared. May 24, 2022 marks four years since the body of a Wichita boy who had been missing for months was found under a bridge in Harvey County. His case shined a light on the lack of communication between the school system and Department of Children Services. His five years on earth were marred by abuse, he did not suffer in silence however, why is it all the complaints made were ignored? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
