At the end of 2006, a French patisserie bakery and cafe called Choquette opened in Brisbane. And with it a small slice of French epicurean life began to take root. We all know that floating is a powerful practice, loaded with countless benefits. We're often aware that we don't want to promise too much, but one particular area where we might be able to talk a little more is about how float therapy can be beneficial for patients with body image concerns and/or eating disorders. If you made it to the 2022 Float Conference, you likely heard Dr. Emily Choquette sharing the latest findings about how LIBR (Laureate Institute for Brain Research) is studying the impact of float therapy and anorexia nervosa. We were delighted to invited Dr. Choquette to the show to talk in depth about that data, as well as how she got involved in the work. She shared that since anorexia is a particularly challenging condition to treat, and new treatments aren't being developed fast enough, the research that had already been done on anxiety and floating was a perfect gateway to expand studies. Early research shows that even just a single float can promote positive changes in a patient's perception of their body. We chatted with her about what we, as float center owners, can do to continue to foster a relationship with the science community and how to talk about this benefit that could potentially help many individuals who struggle with body image or eating disorders. Thriller author J.P. Choquette writes atmospheric suspense novels with themes of nature, art, and folklore. She started writing "books" when she was old enough to hold a crayon. These were held together with staples and left some painful scratches.  When she's not working, you'll find her sipping a hot beverage, reading, or in the woods with her family. Today J.P. joined me to talk about the modern gothic thriller, “The Stranger Diaries,” a book that hit every one of my literary sweet spots. On this week's episode, how Justin Choquette turned his passion for photography and adventure into the well known digital brand, Justin Choquette. Growing up just outside of Vancouver in British Columbia, Justin always found himself exploring the beautiful outdoors on family trips or on hiking trips with friends. In grade six, Justin began getting interested in photography and videography while capturing adventures of hiking and biking with his GoPro and sharing it on social media. While he knew he enjoyed photography and was passionate about it, he decided to go to trade school to be an electrician. During his time as an electrician, Justin would listen to podcasts and audiobooks all about how to run a business, how to market a product, and was inspired by everything he was learning. After working twelve hour plus days as an electrician for a year, Justin decided to put what he had learned into practice, quit his job, and started his photography business. Justin is a determined, hard-working, humble, talented, and inspiring person and we had so much fun getting to learn more about his story. Brought to you by: Passion 2 Brand Connect with Justin!
