James and Ender discuss the pilot episode The Heirs of the Dragon HBO's new Original series House of the Dragon. Overview: With both his sons dead and the succession undecided, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen convenes a Great Council for the Westerosi lords to select a future ruler. Jaehaerys' eldest grandson, Prince Viserys, is chosen over his eldest grandchild, Princess Rhaenys. Nine years into his reign, Viserys organizes a tournament to celebrate Queen Aemma Arryn's pregnancy, confident she will give birth to a male heir. The Small Council disregards Master of Ships Lord Corlys Velaryon's warning that the Triarchy, an alliance of Essos' Free Cities, threatens to cripple Westerosi shipping lanes. Hand of the King, Ser Otto Hightower, criticizes Viserys's brother and heir, Prince Daemon, for his brutality as the City Watch commander. At the tournament, Ser Criston Cole, a common-born Dornish knight, outcompetes Daemon, while Aemma dies in childbirth, her son, Baelon, dying shortly after. Viserys refuses the council's pleas to anoint a new heir until Ser Otto reveals that Daemon mockingly styled Baelon as, "The Heir for a Day." House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series, a prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019). Both series are based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R. R. Martin. Esta semana hablamos de dos series de gigantescas productoras, pero con estilos y resultados completamente diferentes. Nos referimos a She Hulk de #Disney+ y House of the Dragon de #HBO. Ambas acaban de estrenarse y solo hay material para discutir el primer episodio, pero sin duda nos podemos dar una idea de lo que se viene. Empezamos con #SheHulk, siendo una serie mucho más ligera y hasta ahora con muy pocas cosas nuevas que ofrecer. Desafortunadamente todo lo que se ve en el corto es lo que sucede en el episodio y es aún peor que solo dura 30 minutos por lo que no hay mucho espacio para explorar otras ideas. Se sabe que en esta seria habrá apariciones interesantes como la de #Daredevil y es un punto que nos emociona un poco pero no lo suficiente como para sostener ver la serie cada semana. En otra sintonía de mucho mejor gusto tenemos #HouseoftheDragon. Aunque nos conservamos un poco a la defensiva para no sufrir la decepción que todos tuvimos con #GameofThrones, el primer episodio de #HOTD sin duda logró tocar las notas correctas para revivir ese espíritu y amor por la serie y los personajes que todos tuvimos cuando nos volvimos fans de #GoT. El episodio nos presenta conflictos interesantes, se aprovecha a la perfección la duración del episodio y hay suficiente aire para respirar las ambiciones de cada uno de los personajes que habitan en este complicado mundo.
