What are the keys getting prominent philanthropists in your community to say yes?   Today, I talk with Eric Lindh, CEO of Equest & James and Kristin Hallam, co-chairs of the organization's signature fundraising event, the Blue Ribbon Gala.  Equest provides equine therapy for individuals aged two and over to help them cope with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. For over 40 years, the Equest Blue Ribbon Gala has been one of North Texas' top signature fundraising events, drawing a devoted following that has a core base of attendees who support it year after year while continually bringing in new, prominent donors. In this episode, James, Kristin, and Eric discuss a wide range of topics including tips on how an organization can approach a high-profile individual in your community to say "YES" to support your event, how signature fundraising events help new executives connect with current and prospective donors, and the keys to creating a successful relationship between event chairs and a nonprofit. This is one episode you will not want to miss.

When you think about our military, we go through boot camp. We put people through a lot of days and days of work to get them ready and steeled for war. But when it's time to leave the military, I think it's something like half a day of reclamation training, and it leaves a lot of veterans frustrated and unable to integrate back into society. That's why I love putting a loving spotlight on some amazing non-profits, and the the folks in the studio today are with Hooves for Heroes: Ruth Shim and Chris Alpert.

This tool works by organizing form submission data, imported data and manually entered data into one feature-rich interface. It’s powered by a sophisticated forms engine, making data collection streamlined and simple. JotForm Tables lets HR teams: * Collect and organize applications * Manage PTO requests * Evaluate interviewees as a team * Create a checklist for new hires * And much more “Spreadsheets are great for working with data, but they have significant limitations and don’t work for HR teams looking to collaborate in a single workspace,” said Aytekin Tank, founder and CEO of JotForm. “So, we built something better – a tool that looks like a spreadsheet, but is much more powerful since it’s supported by a sophisticated online forms product.” https://hrtechfeed.com/jotform-tables-launches-as-a-new-way-to-manage-tedious-hr-tasks/ ADP®, a leading global provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions, is deepening its integration with ZipRecruiter®, the fastest-growing online employment marketplace2 and #1-rated job search app.3 ADP is the first HCM provider to make ZipRecruiter available directly to customers through its online platform. ZipRecruiter is now seamlessly embedded within ADP Workforce Now Recruitment, giving recruiters access to more qualified candidates and to intelligent tools that identify the best candidates for their roles.  The integration includes several key features: Tools to help businesses find quality candidates faster: Businesses will be able to distribute their jobs across 100+ job sites and reach over 30 million job seekers a month via mobile and web.1 Businesses will be able to use ZipRecruiter’s sponsored job posts to receive ten times more applicants, on average, than organic job posts typically do.4 Four out of five employers who post on ZipRecruiter receive a quality candidate within the first day. ZipRecruiter’s industry-leading, smart-matching technology actively identifies qualified candidates and invites them to apply. Ease and flexibility:  Job slots are flexible, allowing employers to easily swap a new job into a job slot or pause a search and activate it later. If employers need to sponsor more jobs, they will be able to purchase additional sponsored job slots through the ADP Workforce Now Recruitment Module in 2021. Employers who want to boost visibility of their jobs can purchase Traffic Boost within the Recruitment Module to drive additional applications in 2021. With ZipApply, candidates can apply to jobs with just one click. “ZipRecruiter is excited to provide a strong, reliable and streamlined solution for ADP’s customers at an especially challenging time in the economy,” said Ian Siegel, Co-Founder & CEO at ZipRecruiter. “ZipRecruiter’s tools are flexible, efficient, and easy, and free up time so that businesses can focus on adapting to changing business needs, innovating, and achieving their goals.” https://hrtechfeed.com/adp-deepens-partnership-with-ziprecruiter/ Juggle. Originally designed as a marketplace to allow executive-level women to re-enter the world of work in a flexible manner after having a family, it later expanded into a wider market for anyone wanting to work flexibly and for employers who need that kind of workforce. But with the world of work totally upended by the pandemic, “flexibility” is literally now the name of the game. Juggle has now disclosed its funding of $2.1 million from investors in the U.K. and the U.S. Investors include a number of the U.K.’s leading angels... With many businesses moving to flexible working arrangements, whether that means remote work, part-time, or shared roles, Juggle connects them with professionals that aren’t the typical “9-to-5” type people. Professionals sign up for the service, and recruitment tools allow them to schedule and keep track of job applications; coaching and support are available. Juggle also provides “smart matching” and the necessary paperwork to allow for these flexible roles. Businesses using Juggle to find the right candidate are vetted in advance to ensure that they embrace flexibility, so both employers and employees know what they are getting.   Founded by former headhunter Romanie Thomas, a core mission for Juggle, she said, is to see women in 50% of business leadership roles by 2027. Since launching in 2017, Thomas said 62% of all placements made by Juggle have been female. https://hrtechfeed.com/juggle-secures-2-1m-to-expand-its-flexible-work-saas-marketplace-for-senior-execs/ eQuest today announced that it will transform the way people post Internet jobs. Beginning Monday, November 16, 2020, customers with Amazon Echo or Alexa Built-in devices will be able to say, “Alexa, open job posting”. This key command will automatically connect the voice-user to eQuest – which holds the entire catalog of jobs for that customer to access for job posting. The user can then say, “post a job” or “check activity”. Gartner predicts that, by 2023, 25 percent of employee interactions with applications will be via voice, up from under 3 percent in 2019. Voice interfaces free digital workers from having to use a mouse and keyboard when interacting with business applications. This freedom can benefit workers greatly. eQuest announced earlier this year that much of its strategy for 2020 and 2021 will be focused on automating the greater percentage of its products. The voice activated release is one many planned for release in the next 18 months. “We are very excited to bring new technologies to the Human Resources community,” said Bob Jaworski, in charge of eQuest’s ATS and CRM alliances. “Our goal is to automate much of the job posting process. Simplicity is the name of the game.” https://hrtechfeed.com/equest-to-release-voice-activated-job-posting/

So excited for this episode, I have Elizabeth Fischer,  founder of ZerModus. I was honored to get to share Elizabeth’s story and journey creating her planners. We chat about all things mental health, parental expectations, entrepreneurship, and EMDR therapy. You get to hear first hand what inspired her creating Zermodus.  Elizabeth also shares the newest addition to her business the Everyday Human Planner, a wellness and recovery planner designed for everyday growth. This planner is all about waking up  setting intentions, meditating, and checking in with yourself as a part of your daily cognitive self-care routine. The Everyday Human planner was created to capture tangible moments of personal growth. This recovery planner is relevant to any kind of recovery process whether it be recovering from a divorce, a major surgery/injury, depression, addiction, anxiety, or eating disorder.    If you want to get your hands on this, Elizabeth has given all my podcast listeners 20% off using the code: CAFEWITHMONICA . This is a great Christmas gift for yourself or for a loved one.    For all my therapist out there who follow me contact Elizabeth at @Zermodus if your interested in purchasing a batch to use with your clients. I’ve already been sharing this with my clients and they love it!!!!!  More about the guest: Elizabeth is a second generation entrepreneur with a passion for empowering others and promoting mental health awareness. Her designs have been featured in HuffPost, D Magazine, PopSci, Mashable, as well as other notable publications.  Her first venture ZerModus, is an e-commerce startup that helps transform people’s daily routines through the use of uniquely designed daily planners like the Everyday Visionary (for goal-oriented people) and the Everyday Human (for everyday personal growth). After releasing the Everyday Human planner, a wellness and recovery planner, she realized she wanted to do more in the wellness space so she launched her second startup, H2Hx.    H2Hx is a wellness patient advocacy and creative agency focused on human-to-human experience design for mental health professionals and organizations. The mission with H2Hx is to remove the stigma around mental health by redesigning the therapeutic experience to be more attractive to consumers. This involves working with therapists, hospitals and nonprofit organizations to make mental health services more beautiful, more educational, more structured and more sharable.  As an equestrian and mental health advocate, Elizabeth also sits on the Board of Directors for Equest and is the 2020 Equest Gala Chair. Equest is one of the largest equine therapy center’s in the country, focusing on improving the quality of life for children, adults and veterans with diverse needs in the Dallas Fort Worth area. She is a member of the Female Founder Collective and a supporter of the Arts, Women’s Rights and Mental Health Awareness. Elizabeth is an SMU Graduate and received a Mini MBA in Digital Marketing from Rutgers’s Executive School of Education. Roseman says it’s a fit for anyone who works an additional job other than their 9-to-5. The mobile platform also allows workers to manage all these gigs in one place AllyO AllyO, the end-to-end AI recruiter, this week announces the latest advancement to its recruiting solution: AllyO New Hire Check-ins. While AllyO has traditionally assisted organizations and candidates through their entire hiring funnel from “Hi to Hire,” the addition of New Hire Check-ins allows AllyO to be the single point-of-contact for everyone involved across hiring and retention – including recruiters, talent acquisition leaders, hiring managers, candidates, and current employees. This latest generation of AllyO’s platform enables HR professionals to check-in with new hires several times within their first 90 days on the job by asking customized questions like: “How happy are you in your new role?” and “Do you feel you are well-trained for the job?” The responses provide hiring teams with actionable feedback to improve retention. This new functionality also increases efficiency among HR teams by eliminating the need to manually check-in with candidates on their opinions about the hiring, onboarding and training processes.

On this week’s Because of Horses podcast, Elise talks with a guest panel about equine therapy — Founder of Equest Therapeutic Riding Susan Schwartz, Equest’s CEO Lili Kellogg, and Jeff Hensley, Director of Clinical and Veteran Services of Equest’s Hooves for Heroes program.   Equest is a nonprofit, therapeutic riding center in Dallas, Texas. For 37 years, Equest has helped people live fuller, richer lives by connecting them with horses. Historically, their focus has been on special needs populations — children and adults with physical, emotional or cognitive disabilities — but for the last six years, through the Hooves for Heroes program, they have extended their reach to veterans and military families, helping them transition back to civilian life.   As one of the first therapeutic riding programs in the US, Equest is renowned for its legacy of caring, in addition to its stellar clinical success. Episode 12's guest panel discusses how Equest began, the program's evolution,  the staff's day-to-day activities, and their personal observations and experiences. The work Susan, Lili, and Jeff perform some might describe as borderline miraculous:  giving comfort and peace to those with PTSD, depression, or severe anxiety; providing a place of belonging and hope to many who’ve been marginalized and viewed as disabled; sharing the freedom, power, and speed of riding for individuals with physical limitations. For the staff and volunteers at Equest and Hooves for Heroes, this is only a small glimpse of the incredible difference they’re making every single day in the lives of the people they serve.   Topic of Discussion: [2:08] Equest Founder Susan Schwartz discusses Equest's start. [7:00] Susan’s awareness of the "stars aligning" in creating Equest. [9:28] The amazing feedback from family members whose loved ones improved through therapeutic riding. [10:25] Susan’s touching experience with a mother whose child's shoes became dirty. [13:09] How the program is changing the lives of the volunteers and staff, as well as the participants. [14:00] Equest’s testimonials reveal the powerful nature of their program. [17:42] Lili describes the connection between the horse and participant, and its role in therapeutic riding. [22:09] How the first two riders inspired the program's original name, “Free to Ride.” [24:19] The nuanced benefits of riding horses and having horses in your life. [25:34] Lili’s touching story from another therapeutic riding program. [27:16] The common denominator among Equest’s riders. no matter their age, ethnicity, or challenge. [28:11] Jeff speaks about their veterans' program, Hooves for Heroes, and how it has changed his own life. [29:40] About Jeff’s service to the U.S. military and his transition back to civilian life. [31:50] How Jeff came to join Equest, became head of the veteran’s program, and how the experience aided his own healing. [35:33] How Hooves for Heroes has helped military family members and veterans. [39:12] The evolution of equine therapy and Susan's view of its future. [43:53] Jeff’s insight on the importance of sharing therapeutic riding with the world. #TChat Radio is all new and live Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 6:30 pm ET (3:30 pm PT), with the #TChat Twitter chat right after from 7-8 pm ET.   Last week we talked about taking entrepreneurship inside organizations, and this week, in honor of Labor Day, we're going to talk about how the front end affects the long run.   What you ask? Recruiting is marketing. Simple as that. The recruiting process contributes greatly to employee engagement, productivity, retention and improved employment brand.    Fact is, first impressions truly do make a difference and the level of accuracy, transparency, and measuring the right "marketing" metrics during the recruiting process contributes greatly to how an employee views the company, the job and their role in the organization and sets the tone of the entire employment relationship.    Recruiting is marketing -- accuracy, transparency and data can make all the difference!   Join #TChat co-creators and hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we welcome our special guests: David Bernstein, Vice President of the "Big Data for HR" Division at eQuest, and Chris Fields, an HR consultant, expert resume writer and HR content writer.   This will be another important show about making and measuring recruiting magic, so join us.
