In this episode of State of the Arc, Jason Becker breaks down four major developments reshaping the welding industry right now. First, we look at the surge in government-funded nuclear projects and the increased demand for welders trained to ASME and NAVSEA standards. Then we shift to the revival of domestic steelmaking and how reshoring and infrastructure funding are fueling new opportunities for structural welders. In segment three, Jason covers the industry-wide push for low-hydrogen practices — from rod ovens to procedure control — and why welders need to pay closer attention to hydrogen cracking. Finally, we dig into ongoing supply chain issues affecting exotic filler metals like Inconel, Hastelloy, and duplex stainless, and how this is impacting bids, project timelines, and QA/QC expectations. As always, we close out with the Welding History Fact of the Week — this time featuring the precision TIG work behind the St. Louis Gateway Arch.
Interview with Justin van der Toorn, President & CEO of Greenheart Gold Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/greenheart-gold-tsxvghrt-proven-team-pursues-new-gold-discoveries-in-guyana-6280Recording date: 8th May 2025Greenheart Gold is an emerging gold explorer focused on early-stage discovery in the Guiana Shield, spanning Guyana and Suriname. Formed as a spin-out from Reunion Gold and G-Mine Adventures, the company is led by CEO Justin van der Toorn and staffed by a proven technical team from Reunion. Greenheart pursues a rigorous, data-driven strategy—advancing only those targets with clear signs of mineralization while rapidly dropping underperformers. The company is actively exploring five projects, including Majorodam and Igab in Suriname, and Tamakay, Abuya, and Tosso Creek in Guyana. At Majorodam, early RC drilling yielded standout intercepts such as 6m at 8–9 g/t Au and 30m at 2 g/t Au. The site's favorable access and geological setting prompted the team to move quickly from soil sampling to drilling, bypassing traditional trenching due to surface conditions. At Igab, located near Newmont's Merian mine, widespread anomalies and visible gold suggest a high-potential discovery zone.In Guyana, the company has shown discipline by reducing its footprint at Tamakay after inconclusive geochemical results, while continuing focused work in historically mined zones. At Tosso Creek, early soil anomalies and structural indicators have positioned the project for a LIDAR survey and follow-up drilling in 2025.Greenheart's outsourced data management ensures QA/QC integrity, reinforcing confidence in its exploration process. With strong financial backing, road-accessible projects, and proximity to major operations, Greenheart is well-positioned to deliver meaningful results in a region known for untapped gold potential. For investors seeking early-stage leverage to discovery in one of the world's most prospective gold terrains, Greenheart Gold offers a disciplined and technically robust platform for growth.View Greenheart Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/greenheart-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

"My goal for SSLLC is to have a company that doesn't provide stress to somebody's home life or them personally. So the only way that can happen is to teach leadership and lean into those stresses {to find a solution}..." Join Devon as he chats with Scott Sypniewski Sr. & Jr. about leadership! SSLLC was founded on August 1, 2021, by Scott and Kathleen Sypniewski. Scott and Katheen operated a plumbing business in Chicago, from 2000-2018, while raising 4 children. Scott grew up in his father's multifamily plumbing business. In 2018, as their youngest was graduating high school, Scott and Kathleen gave their business to a trusted employee and moved to Colorado. In May of 2021, Scott read the book Extreme Ownership. The book impacted his life and gave him the knowledge necessary to run a large scale business. When the opportunity was presented in July of 2021, Scott was ready for the challenge. With the support of Kathleen, they formed SSLLC and began to assemble their team. As of April 2024, SSLLC has 20 people on their management team and 50 plumbers. Extreme Ownership has provided the foundation for success. They have built a strong culture that people believe in. That foundation allows them to develop processes that structure their operation, i.e., project manuals, 3 week look a heads, quarterly customer reviews, QA/QC implementation and implemented safety procedures, to name a few. A testimonial from their Leadership coach and advisor, Marcus Aurelius Anderson: “Working with SSLLC as a Leadership Advisor over the last year, I can say that I've never seen a company that genuinely values culture as much as SSLLC. Their employees don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk and lead by example daily. They've made culture the cornerstone of all they do, it's the foundation upon which they've built everything from the ground up. There are plenty of companies that say how important cultivating relationships, caring for their people, and culture are but then fall flat when it comes time to execute. SSLLC has used extreme ownership and self leadership to be great problem solvers through teamwork, simplicity, prioritizing execution, and building every member of the company into better leaders. All of these skills have made SSLLC a tremendously successful company in a short amount of time.” A testimonial from the leadership group, Echelon Front: One of the things I really respect about SSLLC plumbing is that they're consistently looking for ways to improve as leaders. A good leader understands that you must make time to educate and train your team, this starts with the leaders making time to educate and train themselves. One of the areas the SSLLC leadership team is very strong in is continuing to develop as leaders and most importantly taking action with implementing this same concept with their team. A really good attribute with any leader is having an open mind to new ways of doing things or different perspectives, The Sypniewski's are always open minded with new ideas and concepts, especially when it comes to taking care of their team and people. ~ Steve Ward. Former U. S. Navy Seal, Combat Leader, and Leadership instructor at Echelon Front.

The new coffee I'm drinking is from Four Sigmatic. I'm really picky about my coffee, it's got to be bold, not watery. And I've been really happy with Four Sigmatic. Here's the difference from other coffees, it includes mushrooms, which I know sounds bizarre. I will admit I was hesitant, but you get health benefits and don't taste it. Did you know that in addition to being one of our industry's geochemical powerhouses, JC is also an artist? But also as we continue along in the episode we'll see that he's perhaps a staunch businessman. For this month's episode we reviewed a PDAC short course organized by JC and Lynda Bloom entitled: "Geochemical Modeling for Orebody Knowledge and Exploration Targeting Workshop" - JC has videos of the entire course and will let us know when we can post the links to his YouTube page to our website! For now, though, it is important to cover that this course spans fundamentals (including QA/QC), a review of methodologies, interpretation of 4 acid ICP data, geometallurgy, ore body knowledge, regional soil geochemistry, and applications of till and indicator minerals in glaciated geochemistry. The idea is that as geochemists we need to move past just exploration and into the realms of mine, mill and reclamation. If we have geochemistry collected at any point, by any group it must be standardized as a true multi-client dataset. Sample the overburden! Have a geochemist overseeing your database and controlling how the rocks are sampled from a multiclient perspective. "Until we do this, geochemistry will never be looked at in a company as a valuable asset, but as an expense." As a sidenote, JC's section of the course contains topics, such as compositional data, geochemistry templates, and unsupervised and supervised learning. Buckle up geochemists and geochemistry enthusiasts... see you on the other side of this fascinating interview! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/geochemistea/support

In episode 45 of Mission: Impact, Carol and her guest, Stu Swineford discuss: How your nonprofit can be more effective in its marketing The importance of going where your audience is rather than asking them to come to you Why it is easier to increase the commitment of current donors rather than find new ones, even if it doesn't seem as exciting Guest Bio: If you know me, you'll know I'm never one to shy away from an opportunity to grow and take on new challenges. For example, I started my marketing career as a copywriter and ad man. But one day, when my graphic designer colleague didn't show up for work, I evolved (very quickly) into a designer. After all, I was the only other person in the building who knew how to turn on the Mac. Since then, I've performed virtually every role in the digital marketing production lifecycle – from strategy and concepting, to design and development, to QA/QC and everything in between. Along the way, I realized that I get the greatest joy from helping others achieve their goals. In a way, you could say I'm making the world a better place, one frustrated professional at a time. These days, I'm in love with purposeful, conversion-focused digital marketing strategy and execution. That, and doing ridiculous things outdoors – usually where oxygen is limited. When I'm not helping entrepreneurs and executive-level professionals, I can be found traipsing around the woods near the cabin in which I have lived with my wife and menagerie of pets since 1993. There I watch movies, read, and polish the details of my latest (possibly ill-advised) master plan for world domination. If you're interested in pulling me out of the woods for a coffee and talking shop (or hearing how I managed to actually run 100 miles in one go), please send an email my way (stuart@relishstudio.com), give me a call (303.825.4441), check out the podcast (relishthis.org), or grab a copy of my book, Mission Uncomfortable.Important Links and Resources: https://relishstudio.com/podcast/ https://relishstudio.com/marketing-coaching-program/ https://missionuncomfortablebook.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/sswineford/ Transcript:

Mike Ralston Ceo of Blencowe Resources #BRES discusses their near surface high-grade drilling results at Camp Lode which will form part of an updated JORC Standard Mineral Resource Estimate and Reserve Determination for the Orom-Cross project scheduled for late February 2022. Highlights · Drilling at Camp Lode delivers consistent outstanding high grade graphite results in the oxide zone including: o OREA-L1302, 11 metres at 9.73%TGC from 3 metres including 6 metres at 10.97%TGC o OREA-L1401, 5 metres at 10.30% TGC from surface o OREA-L1501, 14 metres at 11.81% TGC from 4 metres o OREA-L701, 19 metres at 9.78%TGC from 2 metres o OREA-L1201, 17 metres at 10.35% TGC from 2 metres including 7m @12.21% TGC o OREA-L401, 19 metres at 9.49% TGC from surface · These results will form part of an updated JORC Standard Mineral Resource Estimate and Reserve Determination for the Orom-Cross project scheduled for late February 2022 Blencowe Resources Plc ("Blencowe Resources") (LSE: BRES) is pleased to announce exceptional high-grade drilling results at the Camp Lode deposit which forms part of the Orom-Cross project. These results will allow the Company to bring Camp Lode into the wider Orom-Cross JORC Resource and Reserve Estimate update scheduled to be released in February 2022. Camp Lode Resource Drilling The results, which come from the weathered, close-to or at-surface zone of the Camp Lode deposit, highlight the quality of the project's mineralisation and ultimately its ability to be a low-cost producer. The drilling targeted both infill zones and strike extensions to existing high-grade oxide mineralisation. The spectacular near-surface intercepts confirm the geological interpretations as well as grade continuity over the strike length of the Camp Lode. The Camp Lode Deposit has been subjected to a diamond drill hole program on a 25 metre by 12.5 metre grid. The drilling was designed to provide sufficient information to enable the classification of Resources at the Camp Lode into the indicated category and enable a Resource Estimate on the Camp Lode to be reported and to qualify the initial production area for the deposit as a high-grade supplement to the main Northern Syncline deposit. Northern Syncline Resource Drilling Blencowe Resources continues to receive the sample assays for the additional 24 diamond drill hole program undertaken on the Northern Syncline Lode and QA/QC checks are expected to be completed shortly enabling the company to proceed to finalising the Orom-Cross JORC Resource Estimate. The holes to date have returned visible grade graphite over the majority of 30m of intersection, with weathering extending to within 5m of the base of the holes in most cases. This may present Blencowe with a high-grade ore for initial mining which could have significant advantages to both mining costs and product quality. Subsequent logging by company geologists has also identified zones of large to jumbo flakes in the core. The core has been assayed at SGS in Perth, Western Australia using the method C-IR18. The method is appropriate for understanding graphite deposits and is a total method. Orom-Cross Graphite Project Orom-Cross is a potential world class graphite project both by size and end-product quality, with a high component of more valuable larger coarse flakes within the deposit. A 21-year Mining Licence for the project was issued by the Ugandan Government in 2019 following extensive historical work on the deposit and Blencowe is moving into the studies phase shortly as it drives towards first production. Orom-Cross presents as a large, shallow open-pitable deposit, with a maiden JORC Indicated & Inferred Mineral Resource deposit of 16.3Mt @ 6.0% Total Graphite Content. Development of the resource is expected to benefit from a low strip ratio and free dig operations, thereby ensuring lower operating and capital costs.

Join The Healthy Rebellion Please Subscribe and Review: Apple Podcasts | RSS Submit your questions for the podcast here Show Notes: News topic du jour: The missing link: a single unifying mechanism for diabetic complications 1. Sleep Eating [12:38] Paul says: Hi Robb, Long time fan. Been using the electrolytes with great success. I am a 35 year old, BJJ practitioner and am doing really well on a lower carb diet. One problem though. I sleep eat: Anything and everything, in the middle of the night, every night. Let me know if you have any ideas how to solve this, thanks, Paul 2. Eating Organs to Fix Certain Organs [15:48] Scotty says: I was wondering if you have come across any study’s that have taken someone with example a heart condition, and told them to eat beaf heart (or any animal) everyday to see if it had any reaction to their condition. Or a liver disease and they ate a bunch of liver and got better? Nutrition has become overly complicated now in some circles and it seems just so simple for your body to absorb those nutrients to heal itself. Any thoughts about this? Also let me know if you do answer this on one of your podcasts please as I don’t have time to listen to everything all the time as life just seems to get busier and busier. Thank you so much for everything you have done. You were one of the first voices I found that started my path to fixing my chronic headaches and digestive issues that I had for over 10 years. When massage, chiropractor, acupuncture, TMJ treatments, countless doctor visits all failed me, you pushed me in the right direction. Thanks again 3. Heart Palpitations [20:23] Bret says: Hi, Wolf Pack! Long-time listener (since the Greg Everett days), first-time Rebel and question-asker. I remember a few podcasts ago that Nicki mentioned (in passing) having to quit coffee due to heart palpitations. I've been experience palps for about 1 year and have quit coffee multiple times, with nebulous results: Once for 2 weeks, and once for 3 weeks (no significant decrease in palps either time). Now, alongside the 7DCT and Rebel Reset, I've given up coffee PLUS alcohol (I like a little red wine - weekends only) for the last 4+ weeks, with palpitation frequency and intensity dropping but certainly not eliminated. I'm going to keep up the quit (both coffee and alcohol) for a little while longer to see this thing through, but I'm wondering... If the quit doesn't eliminate the palps, are there any other "usual suspects" that I can bring in for questioning, i.e. other stuff to eliminate or add to my diet/lifestyle? Stats: - Age 53; height 6' 1"; weight 170 lbs; athletic build; very happily married - EKG and Holter monitor test results - normal; I'm thinking about an echo but they're pricey - Strict-but-not-perfect ancestral diet for the last ~9 years (thanks Robb!) - Active (workout 2 or 3 x / week, plus daily movement and/or mobility work) - Excellent sleep - Good community, but could improve - Recently upped sodium intake since learning about electrolytes from you guys. (I'll also be starting an LMNT regimen soon). P.S. - There might be a positional component to my palps (low-grade adult-onset POTS?), but it's difficult for me to QA/QC my own subjective symptom observations to determine that. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the UBERFANTASTIC work you guys!!! Bret 4. 13 Year Old Son's Keratosis Pilaris [26:22] Lil says: Hey Robb and Nikki, thanks for all of your great podcasts! I have been a follower of your work for 12+ years. My 13 year old son, Roman, has had quiet the health journey. A year and a half ago he came to me and said he wanted to "get healthier". At that time he was 5'3 and weighed 186 lbs. Both my husband and I live a primal life. We prioritize sleep, sunlight, movement, whole Paleo foods, social connection, limited screen time etc. At our home that is the norm. I am divorced from Roman's dad. Although he is aligned with our health values he did not support that in our kids. (Mostly out of convenience) When Roman was with his dad his diet mostly consisted of fast food! Roman's dad finally got on board when Roman himself showed interest in becoming healthier. We hired a Primal Health coach (we love you Amy Taft). Since working with her Roman is no longer pre-diabetic, has corrected his cholesterol issues, has grown more than 5 inches and has lost 40ish pounds. He feels great about who he is now! He has so much confidence in himself and his abilities! Such a wonderful transformation. Anyhow, since he was 5 or so he has dealt with Keratosis pilaris. We have tried AIP as dietary intervention along with many random suggestions found on-line. (Soaps, scrubs, etc) His bumps haven't gotten better with anything we have tried. The dermatologist we took him too said there isn't much to do besides heavy duty pharmaceuticals. I myself have tinkered around with carnivore. What do you think about Roman experimenting with carnivore on a short term basis? Or, do you have any other suggestions? Thank you in advance! 5. Protein Powder / Collagen [30:19] Alyssa says: Hi Robb and Nikki, Thank you for all the work you do to put out quality content for the healthy rebellion radio podcast. I’ve started listening only within the last few months, and I am hooked. I appreciate your valuable insight on everything from nutrition to politics and Medicare. I was listening to the March 4th episode and heard Robb say something about protein intake from collagen powder not “counting” toward total protein intake. I had to listen to that a few times...WHAT?! Insert “mind blown” emoji here. I did a little research and think I sort of understand why, but I’m also disappointed because collagen was my go-to protein powder for smoothies, coffee, etc. My question for you is - if collagen isn’t going to do the job, then what is the best, most bioavailable protein powder out there? I realize the protein you chew is the best kind, but I am looking to use it as a supplement to bridge the gap. There’s so much information on the interwebs, so I’m hoping you can help clarify. I am a 34 year old female, 5’9” and 140 lbs. I teach (hard...not gentle) yoga during the week and I also do a bit of running. I’m generally pretty fit and my meals are typically paleo. I don’t have any adverse reaction to dairy - we’re cool. Since listening to your podcast, I would like to try upping my protein intake and “watch the magic happen,” as you say. Thanks! On this episode Ethan Etzel (CEO - Royal Composites, LLC) joins us to discuss how he got into the oil and gas industry after switching focuses from medical, to business to mechanical engineering. After several years doing various roles, he met his business partner and formed his current company. Ethan discusses how their company was able to adapt and pivot quickly during these times while maintaining their QA/QC. He gives a pretty optimistic stance on the oil and gas industry as it relates to renewables. We discuss how during these times it's important to take care of your mental health by: getting outside, unplugging from social media and the news, touching base with friends, separating work and personal life. His goal is to eventually go on a cell phone smashing spree as everyone is now addicted to them and he's tired of how things are progressing. Be dynamic with your expectations and unplug from the noise.

The Compliance Life details the journey to and in the role of a Chief Compliance Officer. How does one come to sit in the CCO chair? What are some of the skills a CCO needs to success navigate the compliance waters in any company? What are some of the top challenges CCOs have faced and how did they meet them? These questions and many others will be explored in this new podcast series. Over four episodes each month on The Compliance Life, I visit with one current or former CCO to explore their journey to the CCO chair. This month, my guest is DeAnna Nwankwo who served as Corporate Compliance Officer for Core Laboratories from 2003 May 2020. In that capacity, she led Core Laboratories ethics and compliance activities. As CCO, DeAnna reported to the general counsel and secretary and to the audit committee of the board of directors. She was responsible for formulating and implementing Core Lab's ethics policies and procedures, including its Code of Ethics and Corporate Responsibility and making sure they were communicated and trained upon across the company. DeAnna managed the company's employee Helpline resources and served as a final internal resource which concerned parties could communicate after other formal channels and resources were exhausted. As Corporate Compliance Officer, she was authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program. In her role, she collaborated with other functional departments (Internal Audit, Human Resources, Information Security, etc.) to receive and direct compliance issues to appropriate resources for investigation and resolution. In this first episode, we consider Deanna's journey to the CCO role, which she described as “no different than anyone else's because it was so different. She began her professional career in QA/QC at NASA. She later moved to Core Laboratories. From there she transitioned into a compliance position and then the CCO. Learn more about your ad choices. From research lab to industrial lab our guest today has experienced it both. As a QC specialist Lola Ikromzoda sat with us today to tell us about her journey through college from Turkey to America, and her role as a Q.C. specialist at a biotech company. We had the chance to talk about her career, challenges within her role, and the importance of QA and QC specialists in industrial labs.
We know that proposal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) is essential to producing the best proposals possible and give our teams the best chance to win. However, QA/QC is too often sacrificed to the lack of time and pressing deadlines. This is a constant struggle we face with every proposal. That’s why when I wanted to cover the topic of proposal QA/QC, there was only one person that came to my mind. And, that person is Julie Trowbridge from Jacobs. I met Julie over a decade ago when we both worked at a firm called Carter & Burgess, which later was acquired by Jacobs. She moved to Atlanta and we had a chance to work together in the Southeastern marketing team. Having a career of nearly 30 years in the industry producing proposals, she brought with her a reputation of producing high profile aviation proposals and a keen eye for detail and processes. Today she manages still manages proposals for Jacobs. Through this, she not only is managing her own proposals, but helps with ensuring the proposal process is followed, including QA/QC, for the Atlanta office.Because of this experience and what she does on a daily basis, I knew she was the perfect person to bring on the show to talk about QA/QC, specifically as it relates to proposals. And, even though she works for a mega engineering firm with well-established processes for sales and proposals, the best practices we talk about can apply to small and mid-sized firms with marketing departments of one. I would say this is a must-listen for anyone responsible for producing proposals for their firms. The proposal quality best practices we talked about include: Why your proposal quality is too important to ignoreProposal QA/QC plan componentsHow to fit the QA/QC process into the overall proposal production timeframeStrategies to incorporate quality review throughout the entire processCoaching your proposal reviewers to provide you with the best feedback to improve the proposal contentBest practices around version control of proposal documentsToday's episode is sponsored by:The 3 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of Proposal Pros Master Class - A free, three-part training series. In this training series, I am going to show you how to differentiate your firm, lead meaningful go/no go decisions, and the ultimate proposal success path so you can help your firm win more work while gaining the respect from leadership to rapidly advance your career. S., Holla, B., Saini, J., Venkatasubramanian, G., John, J. P., Jain, S., ADBS consortium Abstract: ObjectiveThe Accelerator Program for Discovery in Brain Disorders using Stem Cells (ADBS) is a longitudinal study focused on collecting and analysing clinical, neuropsychological, neurophysiological, and multimodal neuroimaging data from five cohorts of patients with major psychiatric disorders from genetically high-risk families, their unaffected first-degree relatives, and healthy subjects. Here, we present a complete description of the acquisition of multimodal MRI data along with the quality assurance (QA) and quality check (QC) procedures that we are following in this study. MethodsThe QA procedure consists of monitoring of different quantitative measurements using an agar gel and a geometrical phantom. For the already acquired data from human subjects, we describe QC steps for each imaging modality. To quantify reliability of outcome measurements, we perform test-retest reliability on human volunteers. ResultsWe have presented results from analysis of phantom data and test-retest reliability on a human volunteer. Results show consistency in data acquisition and reliable quantification of different outcome measurements. ConclusionThe acquisition protocol and QA-QC procedures described here can yield consistent and reliable outcome measures. We hope to acquire and eventually release high quality longitudinal neuroimaging dataset that will serve the scientific community and pave the way for interesting discoveries. In this episode, my guest is Ricardo Rivera-Acevedo, Chief Science Officer and Director at Ecovita Health Corporation, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada working to initiate and manage a medical cannabis extraction facility and guide research and development of new therapeutic products. Ricardo is host of the Cannabis Science Podcast, the first weekly Canadian radio show focused entirely on cannabis and he is also a Scientific Consultant at ACGT, where he works to provide the skill and knowledge necessary to comply with the regulations set forth by Health Canada's Cannabis Act. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he attended City University of Puerto Rico. One of his college professors was from Canada and encouraged him to check out Vancouver where he ended up coming and starting his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Pharmacology with a fantastic mentor. “That’s kind of where I started my path of not just drug development, medical research, but also my introduction into the science of cannabis.” While preparing for his Ph.D. comprehensive examination, he mentions, “while studying the capsaicin receptor (the spicy hot feeling when eating a chili pepper) that receptor is actually activated and interacts with cannabinoids. And that receptor is also directly involved in pain sensation, noxious pain sensation. So I began to prepare this document for this examination. And I began to realize, Oh, you know what, there's a lot more to cannabis than I had previously considered in terms of like these molecular interactions because I always thought cannabis just had its effects on you know, on CB 1 receptor, cannabinoid receptor one and CB 2, and that's it. But it's much more complex than that and much more dynamic. And so that kind of began to push me in that direction” Ricardo discusses being involved in the first clinical trial with dried cannabis on the island of Puerto Rico. “We were able to do the hard work and effort to initiate the first clinical trial with dried cannabis on the island of Puerto Rico, one of the first of its kind to any US territory.” He describes some of what he learned from this research; “So the basis by which you should really guide your therapeutic use is through the ratios of cannabinoids, CBD and THC. Now there are a bunch of other cannabinoids and they have some very interesting effects. But the main cannabinoids that are well studied right now are the THC and CBD. We've definitely established this conclusively, but it's also something that other groups and other labs have seen and many people have known for a long time, which is that when it comes to cannabis, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. So what does that mean? That means that when you have for example, CBD by itself, it is not as effective as CBD with THC, and then CBD with the other constituents in cannabis. But the issue is that, sadly, people have been focusing on CBD and THC for a very long time. So there's a lot of other chemical constituents that are now being explored but because they occur at such low levels in the plants, they're very difficult to get at levels too, to do a lot of these scientific experiments, particularly in smaller sort of academic environment. So what we're trying to do is to isolate them, purify them and then begin to introduce them back into a formula that reproduces what’d in the plant, but then we can also add or remove these different cannabinoids and see what happens. Because, honestly, to be just like open with you right now, it's kind of interesting and novel information that we've discovered. It's not just CBD and THC, that are doing this stuff, we're seeing effects that we can't describe just by looking at the THC and CBD that are very beneficial for a patient. And it has to do with the other cannabinoids that are actually present. And some strains have some of these cannabinoids like CBC for example, or, or even CBN that people have said, Oh, that’s the degraded products of THC. They do seem to have benefits for patients that are now only being teased apart.” Ricardo also discusses his podcast; “Cannabis Science Podcast is exclusively dedicated to discussing the most up-to-date science on cannabis and cannabinoids, from an industry insider’s perspective”. He decided to start this labor of love to educate and inform anyone and everyone on the science of cannabis. What he had assumed was common knowledge even among the scientific population was not necessarily so. The podcast was launched in an effort to get everyone on the same page to inform and education on the science of cannabis. In his own words; “I am a scientist and entrepreneur working to help biotech companies find better ways to solve poorly managed health conditions. To do this, my areas of expertise include drug chemistry and pharmacology, extraction, formulation, product development, facility design and operation, project management, regulatory consultation, as well as designing, organizing and directing clinical trials. I also strongly believe in science education and communication as valuable tools to improve people's lives by empowering them to make well-informed decisions for themselves and society. At this moment, I provide the training, knowledge, and skills necessary for organizations to successfully achieve their product and research goals” From his website bio: Dr. Rivera-Acevedo is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He is also cannabinologist and consultant for various pharma companies around the world. With a BSc from the University of Puerto Rico – Cayey and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of British Columbia, he has extensive knowledge and expertise researching cannabis and its derivatives. In 2015, he established the first laboratory for cannabinoid research in the Department of Pharmacology at UBC, which is dedicated to understanding the therapeutic uses of different cannabis strains and formulations to treat different diseases. He also teaches various undergraduate courses within the department including Introduction to Pharmacology, Statistics in Science, Drug Development, Natural Health Products, and Pharmacogenomics. As former Director of Chemistry for Cannevert Therapeutics Ltd, he lead the chemistry team conducting R&D, QA/QC, and manufacturing research to improve cannabinoid extract formulations and development of new delivery methods. He also helped organize and supervise one of the first internationally recognized clinical trials with cannabis in Puerto Rico. When not in the lab, he can be found in the dojo practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, teaching mindfulness to high school students with the Vancouver Crisis Centre, co-hosting the shows Cannabis Science Podcast, Cannabis Con Ciencia Podcast, and El Bus De Las 7 on Vancouver Coop Radio 100.5 FM.” Thank you, Ricardo, for providing us with a glimpse of your ongoing research, work and projects in the area of cannabis science! There’s a lot more within this rich, informative episode that will be helpful for anyone wanting to increase their scientific knowledge on cannabis and gaining more of an understanding of the vast untapped potential of this plant. And so that kind of began to push me in that direction”Ricardo discusses being involved in the first clinical trial with dried cannabis on the island of Puerto Rico. They do seem to have benefits for patients that are now only being teased apart.”Ricardo also discusses his podcast; “Cannabis Science Podcast is exclusively dedicated to discussing the most up-to-date science on cannabis and cannabinoids, from an industry insider’s perspective”. At this moment, I provide the training, knowledge, and skills necessary for organizations to successfully achieve their product and research goals”From his website bio: Dr. When not in the lab, he can be found in the dojo practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, teaching mindfulness to high school students with the Vancouver Crisis Centre, co-hosting the shows Cannabis Science Podcast, Cannabis Con Ciencia Podcast, and El Bus De Las 7 on Vancouver Coop Radio 100.5 FM.”Thank you, Ricardo, for providing us with a glimpse of your ongoing research, work and projects in the area of cannabis science! There’s a lot more within this rich, informative episode that will be helpful for anyone wanting to increase their scientific knowledge on cannabis and gaining more of an understanding of the vast untapped potential of this plant.Ricardo’s Links: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ricoriver/ Website: cannabisconciencia.org (Cannabis Science and Research)Podcast: https://cannabisconciencia.org/podcast/Email: ricardo.rivera@ubc.caTwitter: CannabisFaculty, payme4scienceThe Univ. of British Columbia: https://www.grad.ubc.ca/alumni/profile/ricardo-rivera-acevedoPress Release: https://apnews.com/7fa52c472c1092fdcb22ca734d4e449bResearch Gate: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ricardo_Rivera-AcevedoTSC Talks: https://tsctalks.com
