Foreign Minister Winston Peters has raised concerns about China's recent military maneuvers in his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Ji in Beijing. Mr Peters addressed Chinese leaders about the lack of notice for live-fire drills in the Tasman Sea last week, saying the surprise nature of the drills underscores the importance of clear communication between nations.
Beijing is condemning what it says are "unfounded claims" regarding China's lawful military exercises in the Tasman Sea. ABC Australia defence correspondent Andrew Greene spoke to Corin Dann.

"How do you know who it is that's across from you? What they need, what they want. How you can take care of them, while also under stress and also trying to get a lot of work done. That's where SIEF comes in."Continuing our theme of "Love the One You're With." Life is unpredictable, and people are certainly hard to predict. And the best way for us to show we care for Person A will not be the best way to make Person B feel cared for (especially if person B is an intensive and Person A is an expansive.) So if we try to meet everyone's needs in a general, one-size-fits-all way, then no one's needs will get met. And unmet needs are the root of resentment. But good news- SIEF is a tool we can use to understand the needs of the people around us a little better, which will help us get closer to the goal of meeting everyone's needs, all the time.Transcript and notes:https://dev.intensivesinstitute.com/captivate-podcast/prediction-reduces-fire-drillsRecorded 12 February 2024.
Dessa is many things but mostly she's a cake decorator. For our purposes for this episode, at least. Oh sure, you may know her has a brilliant musician, rapper, poet, and occasional guest host on public radio. You may have heard her work on Welcome to Night Vale or heard her in action as part of the Doomtree collective or on The Hamilton Mix Tape. But we think her real passion is doing up those cakes super fancy. She details for us what kinds of piping equipment and ingredients she uses to make beautiful flowers on all the cakes that she's constantly and giving away to friends. You can learn why roses are easier and daisies are surprisingly tricky as you nod off to sleep with visions of cakes dancing in your head.Listen to Dessa's new album, Bury The Lede, on the music streaming service of your choice. The Chinese regime conducted live-fire military drills around Taiwan over the weekend, just a day after Taiwan's president returned from her U.S. visit. The Chinese military's Eastern Theatre Command on Sunday put out a short animation of simulated attacks on Taiwan on its WeChat account, showing missiles exploding in flames as they hit their targets. Taiwan responded with its own drills. The island's defense ministry is on high alert. ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Think you're prepared for the stress of a real attack? You've probably heard of your body's "adrenal response" - the natural "fight, flight, or freeze" reaction we naturally go through when we sense danger. In this episode, my buddy, Mike Ox will share his simple 2-step "brain hack" for adding "stress shooting" to your firearms training. And the best part is, you won't even have to leave your home to do it!

Are you prepared for a wildfire or house fire? With children in the home, parents should know how to prepare so that everyone can evacuate quickly and safely during an emergency. This episode tells you how to plan ahead to keep your little ones safe in the kitchen, and instructions for planning an at-home fire drill. Host Jessica Stewart-Gonzalez speaks with former firefighter Adam Rodriguez, the manager of the Emergency Medical Services for Children Program at the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System at AZDHS. Host:Jessica Stewart-Gonzalez is the Program Director for the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program at the Arizona Department of Health Services. She is married, has two young children, and loves reading (anything except parenting books!) and watching movies and TV. She loves to spend time with her kids (when they aren't driving her crazy) and celebrating all of their little, and big, accomplishments. Jessica has been in the field of family and child development for over 20 years, working towards normalizing the hard work of parenting and making it easier to ask the hard questions.Links: Fire Safety Fact SheetVideo: How to Plan and Practice Home Fire Drills Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System at the Arizona Department of Health ServicesStrong Families AZHost: Jessica Stewart-Gonzalez
What do you do after your emergency procedures and evacuation plans are complete? It is time to exercise them. Your team must know what to do in an emergency at work and home. And How you are going to communicate with them. A vital part of this training is a fire drill, which puts the emergency procedures into practice to see if they work. If they don't work, and there is a fire, it can have devastating consequences. Fire drills are often perceived as an unnecessary nuisance and disturbance, but they are critical in safety plans. It is no secret that diversity sparks innovation and fuels business growth. But diversity for the sake of image or social pressure is dangerous. It needs to truly be embedded into the fabric of the corporate values in how people interact. It is not just checking off a box to satisfy outsiders. This is most dangerous when someone is hired simply for their gender or race without any consideration of what the individual is positioned to contribute. Values are misaligned, expectations miscommunicated and voila …. Let the nightmare begin. Costly mistakes that result in wrongful terminations, and hostile work environment lawsuits. Our guest today: Venesa Klein, Executive Recruiter & Partner for Calibre One. Since 2007, Venesa has helped some of the world's most successful companies build out the critical leadership teams that drive their success. As Partner at Calibre One, Venesa founded its Purpose-Driven Practice, which focuses on placing executives in growing organizations seeking to create innovation with meaningful impact. This week I had what I would call an “intervention” training with my academy. Basically, many of our members are dealing with unexpected personnel issues, patient issues, and shuffling of staff… I realize covid has changed a lot of things for many people. And our clients who are powerhouse MDs and leaders don't have time (nor should they) take on even more tasks or responsibilities in their business. In this episode we discussed the power of Focus. Leaning into the key activities that powerfully drive impact in their business and flat out eliminating the rest. The result, a more deliberate, well rested, and strategic thinking CEO. Less headaches, rushing, over-delivering, and over-paying. I thought this would be an impactful training to share with you podcast listeners who might be experiencing the fire-drill effect in your own business. This podcast is unlike anything I've done before, I actually combine two lessons, "How Americans do yard work or fall clean up" and "How American Schools deal with fire drills or evacuations." Yard work is never fun for me. It's usually pretty cold because winter is coming. I'd rather be making YouTube lessons for you guys or learning some Italian, but it has to be done or there is an even bigger mess in the spring. School fire drills in the United States have changed recently because of a few violent and unfortunate incidents involving guns. American teachers have several events they have to prepare their students for: fire drills, evacuation drill, and a lockdown. It is important for students and teachers to leave the building calmly, but quickly during a fire drill or school evacuation. If an American school goes into a lockdown, it's important for students and teachers to be silent in the dark. It's a pretty scary thing, even for teachers. 0:00-1:30 Introduction 1:31-7:06 How Americans Do Yard Work 7:07-16:24 How American Schools Do Fire Drills

Even though the main message of our Podcast centers around Warehouse Safety - and similar locations - today's topic is fitting for almost anywhere. That topic is Fire Safety. We hope you never have to deal with an actual fire at your location - but want you to always be prepared. That preparation comes in two forms - one in prevention and two in knowing what to do should prevention fail. Before moving on - here's a word from one of our sponsors. If you've ever been to or worked in a warehouse - you know just how important safety is to both management and staff. It's almost impossible to go 10 steps without seeing Safety Tape, Angles, Signs, and/or products. It's these items that show us how to be safe and avoid danger in the workplace. And if you're looking for the best products to make this happen - look no further than Mighty Line! Mighty Line Floor Signs / Floor Markings offer the best industrial products out there! Go to MightyLineTape.com/SafetyTips (https://mightylinetape.com/safetytips) to request a Sample Pack of their incredible Safety Signs and Floor Markings. What makes Mighty Line the superior choice in keeping your facility safe and productive? Easy installation and removal thanks to Mighty Line's peel and stick backing. You can apply and reapply it during installation - and it leaves no sticky residue should you need to remove it. This allows the ability to change workflow areas quickly and easily - and not have the downtime associated with painting or using floor markings that leave behind a mess when you remove them. Mighty Line Tape is 7 times thicker than the average Safety Floor Tape. Mighty Line's Signs and Marking come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. And if they don't have what you're looking for in stock - their Customize It Program allows you to create exactly what you're looking for. Mighty Line offers a Limited 3-Year Warranty on their Floor Signs and Markings. And last but certainly not least - Mighty Line Products are Patented and PROUDLY Made in the USA! We're proud to have Mighty Line as THE Official Floor Sign / Floor Marking Company for the Warehouse Safety Tips Podcast and Site. Again - Go to MightyLineTape.com/SafetyTips (https://mightylinetape.com/safetytips) to request a Sample Pack of their incredible Safety Signs and Floor Markings. Now back to the Podcast... Here are 5 quick Fire Safety Tips to help you, your staff, and your facility. Have a plan in place for Fire Safety and Evacuation - and a person and/or team in charge of keeping it updated. Assure you have all the required and needed Signs and Floor Markings - for indicating Fire | Safety | First Aid Equipment / Areas, exits, paths to exits - such as regular or glowing tape, and/or any Fire Safety and Evacuation Info. Do regular Fire Drills and assure everyone at your facility is knowledgeable about your Fire Safety and Evacuation Plans. This includes but isn't limited to - assuring your Fire Alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, and other equipment are in working condition. Make sure you keep your facility as free of Fire Potential Situations as possible. Avoid excess clutter, garbage, and/or any flammable material (Solid, liquid, or gases) handling. This also includes ensuring all areas are as free and clear as possible - in the event of an evacuation. Keep safety top of mind. And if you see something - say something! In a perfect world - we hope you never experience a fire in your facility. But we also hope these tips have you prepared for it. If you visit WarehouseSafetyTips.com (https://www.warehousesafetytips.com/) - you'll find the Show Notes for this episode. Thank you for listening to Warehouse Safety Tips - and have a SAFE day!

Stacey Ackerman, founder of Agilify Coaching & Training, got her start in marketing and is now blending the two. Like so many, marketers used to think of agile as “a software thing” and lived in a world where, as Ackerman puts it, “everything was an emergency” and there was no prioritization. This is what she calls “hair-on-fire marketing.” Today, marketers and marketing teams can take small yet purposeful steps toward agility. Ackerman offers traditional antipatterns – blasting all users, sticking to the plan – as well as some enticing marketing takes on agile classics, including: – Minimally viable persona “to understand our customers in a faster way so this doesn’t become a stage gate and hold up our marketing efforts.” – Brief briefs – Customer stories, instead of user stories – And (above all) prioritization – “if there was anything I would recommend, it would be just that.” Accenture | SolutionsIQ’s Leslie Morse hosts.
