Tommy gives his second MLB update, Kooly has done his homework on the new Texas Rangers stadium and Chuck Norris somehow gets a mention. For "What gets Tommy's Goat", we hear about the USA's obsession with asking for ID, even when not buying/drinking alcohol and this reminds Jimmy of a baseball game he attended at City Field. Kooly concludes with a "From the Archives" Brunswick wrestling story and also how to disguise a carpet stain. The Traveling Introvert
Building a Brand as an Introvert

The Traveling Introvert

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 21, 2020 5:50

Hello, and welcome to the traveling introvert. Today I would like to talk about having a personal brand as an introvert. And the reason I want to talk about this is I want you to take a second and think about your closest group of friends, say five people. And I want you to think about them. And I want you to think about different situations when you've reached out to certain friends. Do you always reach out to the same friends for all situations? Or do you sort of pick certain friends or certain things? Do you have a friend that you go out and party with? Do you have a friend that you would read books with? Do you have a friend that you play games with? Do you have that friend in another country who you talk about mothering with and who do you go to when something's happened at work? Who do you go to when something's happened in your family life? I'm sure that most of you would do have friends that over Your friends and maybe equal so to speak, they are you go to them for different reasons, which of each of your friends are specialists in a specific area. And to you, that is their brand been whether you know it or not, that is their brand. So, you might have that friend who is totally into whatever or knows your industry so you can talk to them about industry stuff that might not work with you. But you can say certain acronyms or or talk about certain situations and they will understand, as opposed to another friend who doesn't work in that kind of area. And if you have to explain everything, like piece by piece, it's far more excruciating. So that brings me back to you. I wonder what your friends reach out to you for what is your brand in your friend circle. And if you don't know, maybe, maybe find out maybe ask or maybe think back to when your friends have reached out to you for sensing what those things have been. because believe it or not, whether you realized it or not, you have built a brand with your friends, your friends know you as X, Y, and Z or that person who does a, b and F, whatever it might be unwittingly you have built up a brand. And that's how you've gotten friends. And that's how you keep friends. And that's what they know you for. Have you done the same for your business? out or for your career? And if not, why not? You might have done it unconsciously. But maybe you want to go and take a look and think of make a conscious effort of what you want your brand to be. What do you want to be known for? Do you want to be known for being persuasive? Being good negotiator? Do you want to be known for being very good at backend stuff? Do you want to be known for programming? Do you want to be known for something really frickin specific? Like you carve names in pieces of rice? I don't know, whatever it might be. What is it you want to be known? For? What is it you want people to Think of you, when they think of a certain thing. Do you want to be an awesome plumber? Do you want to be an awesome Carpenter? Do you want to be that plumber that only fixes European style toilets, or whatever it might be? Because building a brand as an introvert is really important because we might not go out there and brag about what we do very often, or we might not put ourselves first when people ask for stuff. However, if people just think of us any way, because they know Well, this person does X, Y, and Z or x, y and F, or x, y, and two and three, as long as they know you and have that in the back of your mind, their mind, they will come to you for this thing, whatever this thing might be. And so instead of you having to toot your own horn horn, you get referrals and referrals are some of the best things that you can get, whether it be for your career or you running a business. When you run a business and you get a referral someone has already paid money to work With you, and they've said that you're awesome and referred you to somebody else who knows probably how much that person paid and therefore is not going to try and lowball you. That's awesome. Job wise, most jobs are filled before they're really posted, is it because it's a friend of a friend or somebody knows somebody else. So if you're already at the back of someone's mind, or should say, bring them to the front of their mind, they will think, oh, hey, this person will be really good for this position. So building a brand as an introvert is really important. And how you go about that is thinking about what you want to be known for. And then doing that and doing it incredibly well. And every time you get someone says something nice about it, put it in a folder and quote, The Happy folder or the testimonial folder, or whatever it might be, but be known for something very, very specific. Don't go general. General doesn't help anybody. You don't think of a general doctor. I mean, you do but like then they move you on to a specialist. So you want to be a specialist. Think about those things as an internet how you can Grow your brand, know what your brand is and get people to know you for that thing. And to grow your brand doesn't have to be hard. It doesn't have to be you shouting from the rooftops actually it's the smallest details and the customer service that can get you a really good brand as opposed to shouting from the rooftops. Thank you This was Janice from the career injury. If you have any questions you want me to answer please email me at Janice@thecareerintrovert.com looking forward to hearing from you and have a great rest of your week. Trump #MAGA Vs Pelosi #FakeNews : Trump Is DONE Negotiating With @DNC Snakes, If You Were Trump Would You? #Impeach?! For What?!!Pelosi-Trump war paralyzes government; 'American Taliban' to be released from prisonGovernment paralyzed: Trump calls for end to 'phony investigations' after Pelosi accuses him of engaging in a 'cover-up'The very public rift between President Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday illustrated of how much the Russia collusion investigation -- and what Trump supporters would call Democrats' obsession with ousting him from the Oval Office -- have paralyzedthe government. The meeting between Trump and Democratic leaders Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was cut short and any plans to rebuild America's infrastructure were put on hold after Pelosi accused of the president of engaging in a "cover-up." Trump, in a Rose Garden statement, said that Democrats must end their "phony investigations” before he'll negotiate with them on issues like infrastructure. So, right now, both sides remain at a standstill. Trump and the White House insist Democrats can't accept the findings of no collusion in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report and want "do-overs" with numerous congressional investigations. Democrats show no signs of easing up on their investigations and insist Trump is obstructing justice by instructing witnesses to defy subpoenas and be uncooperative.'Catastrophic' tornado damage reported in Missouri capitalJefferson City, the capital city of Missouri, has taken a direct hit from a tornado and suffered possibly “catastrophic” damage, according to reports. According to the National Weather Service, a “confirmed large and destructive tornado” was observed over Jefferson City at 11:43 p.m., moving northeast at 40 mph. The twister appeared to have traveled through the center part of town, the Jefferson City News-Tribune reported. "We are currently identifying the location of damages and searching for injured residents," Lt. David Williams of the city's police department said in a statement to the News-Tribune. "The primary need at this time is for those not affected to stay clear of the impacted areas so that Emergency personnel can assist those in need."'American Taliban' to be released from prison ThursdayJohn Walker Lindh, the Islamic militant who became known as the infamous "American Taliban," is set to be released from a U.S. federal prison Thursday despite lawmakers' concerns. Lindh, who has been behind bars in Terre Haute, Ind., is set to be discharged several years before he would complete the 20-year prison sentence he received for joiningand supporting the Taliban. The former Islamist fighter and enemy combatant was arrested in 2001, just months after the Sept. 11 attacks and the start of the war in Afghanistan, along with a group of Taliban fighters who were captured by U.S. forces. In a letter last week to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, lawmakers expressed concerns about the "security and safety implications" of freeing an unrepentant terrorist who officials say continues to "openly call for extremist violence." They also sought details on how the agency is working to prevent prisoners such as Lindh from committing additional crimes after their release and asked which other "terrorist offenders" are next in line to be freed.Avenatti's legal troubles continue to mountFederal prosecutors in New York on Wednesday charged embattled attorney Michael Avenatti with defrauding adult-film star Stormy Daniels, the client who propelled Avenatti into the national spotlight. Avenatti, 48, faces one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. He faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted of those charges. Daniels (aka Stephanie Clifford) is not named in the indictment, but a federal law enforcement official confirmed to Fox News that she is the client prosecutors claimed Avenatti defrauded.Avenatti rocketed to fame representing Daniels when she sued to be released from a non-disclosure agreement involving an alleged tryst with President Trump in 2006. He parlayed his notoriety into numerous cable news appearances and even was floated as a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2020.Former staffer for Michelle Obama evades subpoena in Smollett caseTina Tchen, the former chief of staff to first lady Michelle Obama, declined Wednesday to be served with a subpoena by a retired Illinois judge seeking the appointment of a special prosecutor in the Jussie Smollett case, according to the process server. In an email to former Illinois appellate judge Sheila O'Brien obtained by Fox News, the process server wrote that a security guard at the Chicago law firm where Tchen is a partner "called up to her and spoke with her and she said that she in [sic] never going to accept service and to not allow me up to their Law firm." The subpoena would have required Tchen to appear at a May 31 hearing on O'Brien's request for a special prosecutor and provide "any and all documents, notes, phone records, texts, tape recordings made or received at any time, concerning your conversations with [Cook CountyState's Attorney] Kim Foxx in re: Jussie Smollett."TODAY'S MUST-READSBen Carson hits back at Ilhan Omar after she knocks his performance during House hearingTrump administration fights back against lone judges nixing policies'with the stroke of the pen.'John Cusack defends not standing 'fast enough' for Wrigley Field military salute.MINDING YOUR BUSINESSAntitrust chief undecided on T-Mobile-Sprint as White House voices support and DOJ staff looks to nix merger.Credit, debit cards found to be 'dirtiest payment method’ versus cash, coins, study says.Worst product failures, from Coca-Cola’s New Coke to Microsoft's Zune.Follow @PeterBoykin on Social MediaTwitter: BannedFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/Gays4TrumpInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/peterboykin/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/PeterBoykinReddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/peterboykinTelegram: https://t.me/PeterBoykin https://t.me/RealPeterBoykinParler: https://parler.com/profile/peterboykin/postsPolitiChatter: https://politichatter.com/PeterBoykinGab: https://gab.com/peterboykinDiscord: https://discordapp.com/invite/pyuPqU9Periscope: BannedSupport Peter Boykin's Activism by DonatingPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/peterboykinPayPal: https://www.paypal.me/magafirstnewsCash App: https://cash.me/app/CJBHWPS Cash ID: $peterboykin1Listen to #MagaOneRadiohttps://magaoneradio.net/Join the #MagaNetworkhttps://themaganetwork.com/Read the Latest #MagaFirstNewshttps://peterboykin.com/https://magafirstnews.com/https://magaone.com/https://us1anews.com/Support Donald Trumphttps://votefordjtrump.com/http://trumploveswinning.com/https://marchfortrump.net/https://gaysfortrump.org/Join Our Groups on Facebook:MarchForTrumphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/MarchForTrump2020/https://www.facebook.com/groups/MarchForTrump/MagaOneRadiohttps://www.facebook.com/groups/MAGAOneRadio/https://www.facebook.com/groups/MagaOneRadioNet/https://www.facebook.com/groups/MAGARadio/https://www.facebook.com/groups/MagaFirstRadio/https://www.facebook.com/groups/MAGA1Radio/https://www.facebook.com/groups/MagaFirst/TheMagaNetworkhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/theMagaNetwork/GaysForTrumphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/gaysfortrump/https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheGayRight/https://www.facebook.com/groups/LGBTexit/https://www.facebook.com/groups/gaysfortrumporg/https://www.facebook.com/groups/DeplorableGays/https://www.facebook.com/groups/GaysForTrumpParty/Americans With Trumphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/AmericansWithTrump/North Carolina MAGA Networkhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/northcarolinamaganetwork/NC Trump Clubhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/NCTRUMPCLUB/Exit Extremismhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/EXITEXTREMISM/Vote For DJ Trumphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/VoteForDJTrump/Trump Loves Winninghttps://www.facebook.com/groups/TrumpLovesWinning/Straights For Trumphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/StraightsForTrump/US1ANewshttps://www.facebook.com/groups/US1ANews/https://www.facebook.com/groups/US1ANewsGroup/MyNCGOPhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/MyNCGOP/Grab them by the P***Yhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/GrabThemByTheP/Join Our Pages on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TheMAGANetwork/https://www.facebook.com/MAGAFIRSTNEWS/https://www.facebook.com/pg/MagaOneRadio-778327912537976/https://www.facebook.com/North-Carolina-MAGA-Network-307617209916978/https://www.facebook.com/GaysForTrumpOrg/https://www.facebook.com/LGBTExit-2340621102644466/https://www.facebook.com/Take-Back-Pride-American-Pride-Rally-386980035391880/https://www.facebook.com/PeterBoykinMAGA/https://www.facebook.com/MarchForTrumpUSA/https://www.facebook.com/VoteForDJTrump/https://www.facebook.com/US1ANews1/https://www.facebook.com/MYNCGOP/https://www.facebook.com/trumploveswinning/Contact Email:Peter.Boykin@TheMagaNetwork.comPeterBoykin@Gmail.comGaysForTrump@Gmail.comMagaFirstNews@Gmail.comTelephone Number:1-202-854-1320

Welcome! We all made it to another week of Bag Ladiez! This week for “Currento Eventos” we talk about 16 year old Bresha Meadows FINALLY being released (but she shouldn’t have been incarcerated ANYWAYS), the Superbowl and the implications on sex trafficking, and how a DHS employee (and our whole government) really sucks at his job *insert eyeroll here* For “What’s Your Baggage” we’re talking about Process Fatigue. Do you ever get overwhelmed by the idea that you’ll be working on being better forever? We know healing isn’t linear but that doesn’t make it any less hard sometimes. We talk about ways to balance the joy in the work/process versus focusing on the outcome. For “Put it in your Bag” Lina recommends the Black woman owned Radical Dream Pins company and Estephanie gives a shoutout to the feminist BlueStocking Bookstore here in NYC! Finally for our rotating theme for Black History/Futures Month we’ve decided to uplift the Black people who are inspirations to us on a daily basis in big and small ways. We make Black History every day we don’t need a month! Noam Chomsky, a world-renowned linguist, intellectual and political activist, spoke at the University of Arizona on Feb. 8, 2012. His lecture, “Education: For Whom and For What?” featured a talk on the state of higher education, followed by a question-and-answer session. Chomsky, an Institute Professor and a Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he worked for more than 50 years, has been concerned with a range of education-related issues in recent years. Among them: How do we characterize the contemporary state of the American education system? What happens to the quality of education when public universities become more privatized? Are public universities in danger of being converted into facilities that produce graduates-as-commodities for the job market? What is the role of activism in education? With unprecedented tuition increases and budget struggles occurring across American campuses, these are questions that are more relevant than ever.

When it comes to digging up lost Brazilian classics, Paulo Sakae Tahira is something of an archaeologist. A full-time researcher of música brasileira from the second half of the 20th century, Paulão (that's 'Big Paul', to non-Portuguese speakers) isn't, thankfully, the kind of vinyl addict who keeps his prized finds hidden away under lock and key; his DJ performances have taken him all over Brazil, and as far afield as France, Spain and Switzerland. Hailing from the concrete jungle of São Paulo, Paulão moved to the nearby city of Campinas in the early nineties, where he developed both his skills as a DJ and his reputation as a discerning connoisseur of his country's music (with particular focus to the 60s and 70s). There he helped to establish Rádio Muda, a terrestrial radio project to which he still contributes. Together with friends, he was responsible for bringing big name acts to Campinas during the nineties with a series of seminal parties, Festas Black. In the years since, Paulão has been involved in promoting various other events, and has played alongside many of the country's best-known artists. He also writes for the excellent Brazilian music site Gafieiras. Now based back in São Paulo, Paulão is currently finalising details of his second European tour (you can find out where and when to catch him by visiting his site). His scope as a record selector extends far beyond the shores of Brazil, to Afrobeat, New Orleans jazz and various other strains of Black music and rare groove, but if you want a taste of real deal Brazilian hot stuff, check this out...   Tracklisting: Intro Fagner — Moto I Tim Maia — Marcio Leonardo e Telmo Sergio Mendes — For What is Worth Marcos Valle — Mentira João Donato — Cala a Boca Menino Emilio Santiago — Bananeira Di Melo — A Vida Em Seus Métodos Diz Calma Paulo Dinis — Pirim Pim Pim Ed Lincoln — I Want to Take You Home Tom e Dito — Resolução Les Etoiles — Chica Chica Boom Chic MPB-4 — O Cafona Claudette Soares —Canoeiro Novos Baianos — Colégio de Aplicação Tom Zé — Dor e Dor Antonio Carlos e Jocafi — Kabaluerê Jorge Ben— Umbabarauma Tim Maia Racional - Queira Ou Não Queira Roberto Carlos - Todos Estão Surdos Chico Science e Nação Zumbi - Todos Estão Surdos Antonio Carlos e Jocafi - Simbarerê Jorge Ben - A História de Jorge MPB-4 - Agiboré Airto Moreira - Peasant Dance   ^ Read Spannered's interview with DJ Paulão from October 2007
