Jeremy Leibler is the President of the Zionist Federation of Australia, as well as a partner at Arnold Bloch Leibler. Jeremy strongly condemns the horrific slaughter of children, babies, young and old, carried out by Hamas in the south of Israel. Jeremy warns against the platitude of so-called “moral equivalence”, blandly referring to the victims of both sides instead of unequivocally condemning the atrocities.

You asked, Kat answered! Get ready for our 'Epic Yarn' - Part 2. Part 1 saw Landscape Architect Hannah Galloway explore the topic of ‘Listening' with First Nations Consultant, Cultural Advisor and Storyteller Kat Rodwell. For the second half of this Epic Yarn, we asked listeners to send in questions to ask Kat - and boy, did you deliver. No question was off-limits, and the prompt of 'get comfortable with being uncomfortable' saw questions about the dangers of 'fetishisation', about agriculture and contemporising culture, and the danger of Traditional Owners (TO's) and First Nations consultant groups becoming overwhelmed and burnt-out. You also asked questions about the design industry, on reconciling project timelines, and the ways we can regenerate Country. Part 1 explored the ‘eggshells' of engagement — the role of understanding that each project, situation and engagement is a unique opportunity to understand the land from the beginning. Exploring the nuances of cultural protocol and etiquette, Kat and Hannah also talked about the systems of Country that still speak loudly — even in crowded city centres — if we stop to listen. These two episodes serve as a reminder and resource for designers, organisations, and individuals that we can listen and learn much – from Country – and each other. Recorded on Lands of the Noongar Whadjuk people and the Wadawurrung people. Produced on the lands of the Wurundjeri people. We pay our respects to the original custodians of the lands where we practice, and acknowledge their unique ability to care for country and their deep spiritual connection to it.
Are you ready for an 'Epic Yarn'? Listening lies at the heart of so much of what designers do, but listening to what Country and Culture is telling us means connecting deeply and meaningfully with the land and its people. How well are designers — and organisations, individuals and communities — listening to these voices? Together with Landscape Architect Hannah Galloway, we wanted to explore the topic of ‘Listening' with First Nations Consultant, Cultural Advisor and Storyteller Kat Rodwell. In Part 1 of this 'Epic Yarn', Kat and Hannah discuss the‘eggshells' of engagement — the role of understanding that each project, situation and engagement is a unique opportunity to understand the land from the beginning. They explore the nuances of cultural protocol and etiquette, and the systems of Country that still speak loudly — even in crowded city centres — if we stop to listen. This episode is a must-listen for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding and to recalibrate how they listen to the voices of Country and Culture. In it, you'll hear the practical ways that individuals and organisations can better connect, support, and learn. Recorded on Lands of the Noongar Whadjuk people and the Wadawurrung people. Produced on the lands of the Wurundjeri people. We pay our respects to the original custodians of the lands where we practice, and acknowledge their unique ability to care for country and their deep spiritual connection to it.
Bobby Weed is an accomplished golf course architect who will leave behind a lasting legacy through his work. But the Weed who's out to change the world, one letter at a time, is Lanier, his 24-year-old non-verbal autistic daughter. “She has a lot of things she wants to achieve,” Bobby says. “She's just a beautiful young lady, inside and out.” Lanier Weed's story, in both video and words, can be found on firepitcollective.com. Lanier's life changed when, at 14, she was introduced to facilitated communications, which involves an autistic person spelling out words on a keyboard or similar device while their hand or wrist is physically supported by another person. Lanier Weed was 14 when she got in front of her first keyboard. Her opening salvo? “Thank you for releasing my voice.” This podcast, featuring an interview with Bobby Weed and his wife Leslie, is a follow-up to that video feature on the Fire Pit Collective's website and YouTube channel. We hear about where Lanier Weed is now, ten years after typing her first sentence. We hear about the foundation the Weeds founded 20 years ago, HEAL (Helping Enrich Autistic Lives), and its ongoing impact. The Weeds talk about Arnold Palmer, Dean Beman and Jay Monahan, just some of the people who have helped them along the way. Bobby and Leslie also reflect on Pete and Alice Dye and what Players Championship week means to them and their community.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

is it time to tune out of Spotify? Spotify is regarded as indispensable to many musicians with emerging artists often regarding it as valuable source of exposure - but it's also been accused of being tightfisted when it comes to awarding royalties. Last year it paid out more than $7bn US – around £5.7 bn – with more than 1,000 artists earning in excess of $1million each. Sounds impressive doesn't it? But more than half that $7billion – $4 billion - went to major record labels. There've also been complaints that Spotify's podcasts allow for the spread of misinformation with Neil Young pulling his new music earlier this year after a Joe Rogan episode that question the safety of Covid vaccines.Adrian Goldberg hears fromRob Pursey who runs the independent record label Skepwax and Mark Christopher Lee who tries to game Spotify's algorithms with his band the Pocket Gods by releasing tracks of just over 30 seconds duration.Spotify's Loud And Clear statement is here. Having the right to speak up and feeling an obligation to speak out are two very different things. For many women in the military, standing out because of their gender makes them want to ‘go with the flow' to fit in. But not all women – some view it as an opportunity to be the voice that speaks on behalf of everyone. In this interview, Mary Kate Soliva welcomes Katheryn Basso, Founder and CEO of KADRI Clothing and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, to talk about finding her voice in the military. It took her an entire year to tell her parents she had joined the Marines, but once she was in and had their full support, she was off on an entirely unplanned life journey. Katheryn talks about: • The opportunity she saw to design active clothes for women that not only fit but met the storage needs associated with rugged outdoor activities • The important role that male officers and servicemembers play in ensuring women are treated and regarded fairly • What it was like transitioning from Marine officer to civilian entrepreneur Additional Links & Resources: Learn more about Veteran Voices here: https://supplychainnow.com/program/veteran-voices Subscribe to Veteran Voices and other Supply Chain Now programs here: https://supplychainnow.com/subscribe Learn more about Vets2Industry: https://vets2industry.org/ This episode was hosted by Mary Kate Soliva.
