Can you say that you are a real man? Some men may say they have it all - looks, money, cars, career, family. But those things don't make up a real man. A genuine man knows what his purpose in life is and strives to be the best version of himself.   Joshua Lee is the owner and manager of the organization and brotherhood Optimum University. His father along with some other guys is his business partner. Joshua and his team puts the focus on optimizing individuals. His pursuit is to have a total number of 10,000 individuals that needs to be challenged, encouraged and equipped.     On this episode of the True North Man podcast, Paul and Joshua talked about awareness and beginning to understand how you’re made, intentionality and understanding the life cycle, maturity and finding the things that can work and how these components combined help in transforming an individual to become an optimized man. Tune in for an episode that will make you understand the true meaning of masculinity.  What You'll Learn:   What enthusiasm and passion means and how they are different from each other How Joshua define an optimized man and what are the processes and tips to become one What is self awareness and why is it a fundamental thing to help us achieving the better life we wanted And much more! Favorite Quote:   "It's not only 10,000 men, but it's 10,000 marriages, families, businesses. The whirlpool effect is big. I think the real way to transform our society is through families because that's the structure that has the highest degree of influence and for good or for bad, really the way it works out but i wanted to be for good. So I want to strengthen these men and help them show up as better versions of themselves for themselves, and better husbands, better fathers that they can have in their house in order so to speak as they show up in the world. Because the impact that your home life can have an impact in your community and whatever influence you have is huge. It can make or break your ability to add value to people."     Joshua Lee   Connect with Joshua:   Instagram How to Get Involved:   Paul Beam is on a mission to use his experience, wisdom and purpose to uplift men of faith to reach their full potential and become who they were created to be.   Visit True North Man on Instagram and engage with the community here, and visit Paul himself on Facebook and at @paulbeam81.   And don't forget to check out this and other episodes on Apple Podcasts. We could all use a little more healing and human connection in our lives, and art provides one way to restore ourselves and our relationships with others—especially when that art strips away the boundaries between the creator, the observer and the art itself. In fact, Joshua Carroll contends that the best art invites the audience to come in and be a part of the experience. Joshua is a core organizer and board member of Catharsis on the Mall, a 48-hour vigil featuring lectures, discussions, workshops, community art, and music to facilitate healing in ourselves, each other and our society. Held on the National Mall in Washington DC, the event seeks to affect our government’s culture to one of compassion and collaboration by demonstrating a different way to relate to each other. Today, Joshua joins Emerald to share the idea of catharsis as a direct experience that leads to healing or release. He shares his creative values, discussing the power of experiential art to spark human connection. Joshua describes the value of making space for yourself to let go of urgency and connect to Source. He also speaks to the connection between celebration and appreciation, sharing the challenge he faces in pausing to receive when others offer affirmation. Listen in for Joshua’s insight around giving others the autonomy to make decisions and learn how to turn up the volume on your intuitive voice! My guest this week is Joshua Pollock, co-author of The Heartfulness Way: Heart-Based Meditations For Spiritual Transformation. He recently spend a day in Boise speaking at a corporate event, doing interviews, and giving a public lecture. All in an effort to share The Heartfulness Way. The following will give you a little background on Joshua before you listen to the interview. Joshua was raised in Maine. As a child, he recalls spending a lot of time reading books from his parent's enormous book collection. Later in life he said he did some degree of spiritual seeking, but wasn't specifically looking for a meditation practice when he had a chance encounter with someone on the street that would ultimately lead him to The Heartfulness Way and eventually to meeting his current teacher and co-author Kamlesh D. Patel, also known as Daaji. Kamlesh later asked Joshua to write a book on meditation, and then agreed to co-author the book with him. In addition to being a Heartfulness Way trainer and practitioner, Joshua is also an accomplished classical violinist. He holds a bachelor of musical arts from Indiana University and two masters degrees from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. He currently resides in India with his wife and their two children. Joshua and I after the interview. I'm happy because I've just heard about The Heartfulness Way ;) Below are excerpts from a lecture Joshua gave while in Boise: “This is a very simple practice. It’s so simple that when I first started I thought, well, how can this even do anything?” ~ Joshua speaking about his first impression of The Heartfulness Way “Heartfulness has roots in Raja Yoga [and is about creating a union between] the lowest aspect of yourself [and the] highest aspect of yourself.” “Heartfulness is about centering yourself in your heart.” “Meditation isn’t a skill. Really it’s just a process and the benefits you get are the result of performing this process.” In this episode, you’ll discover: What the Heartfulness Way isHow this practice can help you enhance your day to day experience in business and in life. How Joshua discovered The Heartfulness WayWhere you can learn more about this meditation Resources Mentioned: The Peace Room - If you're in the Boise area and looking for a knowledgeable, intuitive, and caring Reiki Master and Certified Crystal Healer, get in touch with Jenny StinsonHeartfulness.org - This is the website Joshua mentioned in the interviewHeartsApp by Heartfulness - Available for both Android and iOSThe Heartfulness Way: Heart-Based Meditations For Spiritual Transformation, by Kamlesh D. Want expert advice on automating your business? Family, friends and colleagues thought Joshua Latimer was crazy when he gave up his career with J.P. Morgan and Chase to begin a cleaning business! That cleaning business went on to regularly do $150,000 per month in revenue before he sold it to move to Costa Rica with his family. In the last 2 years before he sold the business, it was so automated that Joshua only worked 5 hours per week, and was able to grow it 35% per year. There's a lot of great content in this interview... Topics discussed during this podcast include; How Joshua grew his business from a one-man operation, to a $150,000/month business Knowing when to begin hiring staff Changing your mindset and letting go of your business And much more! All great businesses start small Have an idea for a multi-million dollar business? It starts with you. Start your business today and develop your client base, your systems, and then start hiring staff when you're ready to scale it into the vision you have. 2. It's not about you Your business should never be about you. Create your business around the vision and systems processes. The more you remove yourself and are constantly automating your business, the more the business can grow and you can have the money and the lifestyle you want. 3. Hire staff based on attitude and culture fit You can teach your staff how to do the work, but you can't change attitudes. Hire people that are a fit for your business culture. Like this podcast? In this episode… The Real Estate Investing arena is fraught with dangers in the form of fraudulent schemes run by “experts” who line their pockets with other people’s money and give half-proven or untried systems in return. It can be a very difficult space to be in if you care about doing things ethically, honestly, and with integrity.   Joshua Dorkin felt all of that when he first began making money in real estate. His first purchase was a California condominium that gave him a pretty good return, so he began looking into what it might take to become proficient at real estate investing. What he found discouraged him and he realized, there’s no “safe” place to go for trusted advice and reliable resources.   In concept, that’s where BiggerPockets was born. When Josh first created the site he used it as a community/forum for people in the acting industry (he was an actor at the time) but quickly transitioned it into a real estate investing themed site and community. It’s now THE biggest site in the industry and is the hub for a podcast, forums, resources, a publishing house, and more.   In this conversation of Inspired Insider Dr. Jeremy Weisz asks Joshua to share his journey, from his humble beginnings as the son of an entrepreneurial single mom, to business school (which he hated), to the pursuit of an acting career in California, and finally, into the realm of real estate investing and the birth of BiggerPockets.   Joshua Dorkin is a humble guy, but confident and encouraged at the difference his efforts have made in the real estate investment space. He’s one of those guys who latches on like a pit bull once he knows what he wants to accomplish and never lets go until he’s done it. BiggerPockets is a testament to that sort of work and determination.   Be sure to listen to this inspiring interview to find out how you can get connected with Joshua and the community over at www.BiggerPockets.com.   Resources Mentioned on this episode www.BiggerPockets.com www.BiggerPockets.com/podcast Get the book Josh mentioned: www.BiggerPockets.com/UBG
