Why this is so problematic is because literally once per week at our clinic I will see a case of someone who has been misdiagnosed with hypothyroidism; it's really that rampant in today's society."  - Dr. Michael Ruscio   The Right Way To Speak To Patients   "When people aren't feeling well, there's already a predilection for patients to be a little bit anxious and their minds go to the worst case scenario. I've been there before myself; these thoughts happen and if you prey upon that, it's really the wrong way to handle these conversations because you end up making the person feel worse than they actually are. As clinicians, we should be trying to leverage a placebo in a positive and say something like, 'Hey, you can heal and you can recover. It's not that bad and these things can be repaired," rather than telling patients like in your case, "Your body is broken." Telling people their body is broken causes harm mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially." - Dr. Michael Ruscio   Do You Really Need Hypothyroid Medication?     "Many of these lab forward clinical models are predicated upon theory. It's a theory that your TSH shouldn't be above 2 or 2.5. So, what we're trying to use at our clinic is proof that when people have certain symptoms and they make diet, lifestyle or supplement changes, there is clinical outcome data showing these changes improve their symptoms. And a much better model is to put that lifestyle change process into a cascade of decision making trees that you can walk the person through until you get the result. Sure, some lab work guides that slightly but it's really the person and their symptoms and their response to therapeutics that drives the model predominantly compared to just treating labs and treating numbers that is again just based upon theory that chases a number and doesn't focus on the person." - Dr. Michael Ruscio     Links From Today's Show  278 Dr. Michael Ruscio - What's Really Going On With My Thyroid? 236 Dr. Michael Ruscio - Healing The Second Brain 223 Dr. Michael Ruscio - Healthy Gut, Healthy You 119 Dr. Michael Ruscio - The Orthorexia Connection Dr. Ruscio Radio Podcast Healthy Gut, Healthy You by Dr. Michael Ruscio Thyroid immunity – What Are Healthy Levels for Thyroid Antibodies Misdiagnosis of Graves' Disease with Apparent Severe Hyperthyroidism in a Patient Taking Biotin Megadoses 395 Ari Whitten 373 Matteo Franceschetti Eight Sleep 397 Kara Collier Save $25 on the first month of any monthly NutriSense plan with the code ‘WELLNESSFORCE' 365 Dr. Paul Saladino 252 Harpreet Rai | OURA Ring Weston A. The fact that the old school patriarchy was infected and has operated from that space for a millennia but we're now witnessing this positive shift away from that mentality. It's so hard because we are fighting biology. Steven Pressfield calls it 'the resistance.' So, what is resistance's number one job? What is a holodyne's number one job? What is a core belief that got installed almost like a microchip in a computer; what is its core job? Its core job is to function without change. So, when I am presented with new information that goes against the construct of the programs that were installed in my mind that activate the holodynes and the beliefs and the way of being, there is going to be a system error, right? That is when your soul has to come in, see things from an observer perspective, and override the programming." - Josh Trent   The Tipping Point We Face Every Day   "We all have a tipping point that comes when we have experienced a way of being that is creating pain. We change through pleasure and pain; it's an axis and the reason that dark comes really strong right before light is because every day we're in a tipping point. Every single day you and I as men can choose to show up as authoritative playful leaders based on our environment and what we're aware of happening in it. How can you do this? First you have to choose that you want to be aware of what is actually going on in reality; not the subjective reality but the objective reality that you can see from 30,000 feet. After that, ask yourself, 'What is my decision making faculty about how I'm going to adapt and serve in that awareness?' "  - Josh Trent   What It Means To Be An Authoritative Playful Man     "Authoritative Playfulness is what men need to cultivate because if we can be authoritative and playful, that can be trusted. Authoritative means you take care of your body, you take care of your mental health; maybe you learn how to use firearms properly to protect you and your family, maybe you learn how to grow food. Maybe you learn all kinds of skills that can protect from a place of peace and love against evil because evil is real just like love is real. Evil is real because we are still at the consciousness level where we are still carrying out the wishes of evil and those come from greed, resentment, and betrayal which are all ego wounding.... ...They are still these deep, bloody ego wounds that we are uncovering from thousands of years of people being mistreated and honestly trying to be led from dogmatism. So, we get to be authoritative and we get to be playful because we have to have fun and we have to be loving. That's the art form of being authoritative playful and that's what us men have to embody today."     Links From Today's Show  The Art of Masculinity | Episode 191: Change Your Shoreline with Josh Trent 405 Tim Corcoran Solocast | Vision Quest Part 1: Honoring Our Ancestors Solocast | Vision Quest Part 2: Touching Death 196 Aubrey Marcus  King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature Masculine by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette Paul Chek | All Is God Holodynamics | Dr. Vernon Woolf 404 Jay Brown The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell 086 Mark Divine 358 Dr. Belisa Vranich What if money was no object? by Alan Watts Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes breathwork.io M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community About Josh Trent Josh Trent is the Founder of Wellness Force Media, host of the Wellness Force Podcast and the creator of the BREATHE: Breath & Wellness Program. Why do people do a Vision Quest? How does one prepare for it? Different types of Vision Quests and how the are structured. Myths and truths about Vision Quests How many people are able to answer the question, "Why am I here?" after attending a Vision Quest. 196 Aubrey Marcus Why Josh decided to do a Vision Quest with the goal of clearing out generational pain and projections passed down to him from family. Who a Vision Quest is for and how to know if you are not quite ready for one yet. 032 Gay Hendricks What is the 'voice from soul' and how to listen to it. Tim's original life path studying computer science and the moment he knew a life in cubicles was not for him.   [15:30] The Work It Takes To Live Your Purpose Why living your purpose might not be easy; you may have to make sacrifices and work on it every day. The work you will have to do to grow in your purpose the moment you "plant its seed." Why, to quote Mark Twain, "The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you know why." How Mark is still working, 2 decades later, to continue to fulfill his Vision Quest. What struggles people are facing in our modern world when they decide to go on a Vision Quest. Why it's not common to see younger people do Vision Quests but often people in their thirties and forties facing midlife crises. Breaking down what a Rite of Passage is and what it means to Tim. Why Rites of Passage aren't just essential for the individual but to the community as well. The benefits of place based cultures to help younger generations discover their roles compared to living in our modern capitalistic world.   [29:30] Beauty & Power in Ceremony How we can practically use ceremony and traditions in our own communities and wellness tribes. Novah's Baby Blessing ceremony that Josh and Carrie held with close friends and family which included singing the same song, "Peace Like A River" Tim and Josh sung at the sweat lodge during the Vision Quest. 378 Dr. Michael Ruscio The powerful medicine in singing including how it improves our sleeping patterns. What ancient native practices can teach us about life now. Common cultural points he looks for in different tribes and what we can learn from them. Why there is so much powerful healing in crying that connect us all and we shouldn't be ashamed of our emotions. Redefining what it means to be a man and why it is so needed now in 2021.   [35:00] Rites Of Passage For Each Stage Of Life Why opening up and crying is so good for everyone. The incredible power of quality connecting with others that we experience even if you only see that person once or twice a year. Josh and Carrie's Baby Ceremony as a Rite of Passage for them as parents but also welcoming in the spirit of their child. The impact it has on children to not be held by their parents right away when they are born. Comparing the spiritual impact of hospital vs home births and holding spiritual ceremonies in the family space. How Spirit talks to us in omens, dreams, symbols, signs, and synchronicities. Taking a closer look at how our society has been built to disconnect us from self but also harvest and divide us. The fact that people are driven to a quest in the first place because they feel disconnected from self, soul, the earth, and the mystery of life. How we've been taught society's big lie: We are separate from nature. What happens to us when we physically disconnect ourselves from the earth and its wildness. The great void that has been in our hearts since we left Mother Nature for the modern lifestyles. Josh's experience during the 4-day fast and what Mother Nature wanted to teach him. What the Vision Quest gave Josh that Ayahuasca ceremonies couldn't provide him in the past. Why the medicine that the Vision Quest helped ground him in the earth. The importance of embodying and applying  what lessons you learn along the healing journey rather than sprinting from ceremony to ceremony.   [50:50] Vision Quests Vs. Ayahuasca and Psychedelics To Heal What it means to Tim to lead people on Vision Quests and hear the stories of participants like Josh. Unpacking the attachment theory and applying it to our relationship with the earth. Why we need to have a secure attachment to our soul in order to fully experience life. The power of realizing that first and foremost, our identity stems from this earth. What the first nights of the 4 day fast were like for Josh as he had the most frightening nightmares. The blending of the dream world and the waking world that people will experience as they reconnect with Mother Earth. How a Vision Quest is the ultimate shedding of distractions and intentionally shifting one's identity from the place of the ego to one's soul. Why some people can be more harmed and wounded after a psychedelic experience than they were before. The fact that there's a time and a place for healing ourselves with natural remedies but we also have to look at modern methods that fit our lifestyles today. How Josh's Vision Quest is shaping Wellness Force's rebranding  and mission in 2021. 312 Kevin Kelly What steps we can do to live consciously with technology while unlocking greater health and wellness.   [1:11:30] Honoring Our Ancestral Past Why many people see a Vision Quest as a Native American practice but it has been practiced cross culturally for centuries. His and Mark's hope to redefine the term Vision Quest to honor all cultures and our ancestors who have practiced it. How years of colonialism, capitalism have severed our connection to Mother Earth. Connecting our past and the moment in our ancestral history when our families immigrated in order to survive and live a better life. How Josh explored grief during this Vision Quest by asking himself what grief and sadness he was not allowing himself to feel. Why Josh and his partner, Carrie, have chosen the middle name, Mauro, for their son to honor Josh's grandfather and his ancestral heritage. Exploring the healing mechanism that happens when we honor our grief and sadness including that of our ancestors. Why the worst part of trauma is not the trauma itself but how we hold onto it and internalize it that we traumatize ourselves over and over. The intense grief that Tim felt when he realized that full community healing happens after 500 years.   [1:32:30] The Difference Between Pain & Suffering Why there are easier paths to learn from our pain but there is no quick fix. Breaking down why suffering = pain x resistance. Painful but power truths including "pain is inevitable" and "when we argue with reality, we're going to lose." The fact that you are not the only one going through pain and trauma; we all are experiencing that on one level of another. Exploring the positive side to pain if we are opening to hold and explore that. The negative beliefs passed down to Josh from his parents and how he internalized them until a Vision Quest helped him begin to let them go. Why 'hurt people' unknowlying hurt other people. Alan Watts | All Retch & No Vomit How to uncover your own spiritual courage during the inner work and which tools can support you on your journey. Why the earth will serve us when we serve it. I define masculinity as emotional maturity in a very simple way: It's the ability to be aware of, accept, and express the full range of emotions that we have in a healthy way. In fact, that can be a reasonable definition for emotional intelligence in general for all genders. It can be hard to open up; we're still swimming in these waters of programmed behavior of hiding our feelings. But once we do begin to share, others feel more comfortable opening up as well." - Tim Corcoran   The Antidote To Unhealthy Desire   "What happens to us as human beings when we do physically disconnect ourselves from the earth and its wildness, and ourselves from our wildness? Then we start getting sick in body, we start losing our wellness, and our minds start to struggle. We start to have mental health issues that we never had before as we cut ourselves off emotionally and spiritually. Then we wonder why we struggle. Each year the machine just picks up more and more pace, more and more technology and it's like there's a great void in our hearts that came about when we first left our natural roots and the whole time we've been looking to fill that with things like a car or a job but it can never fill us up. We can never get enough of what we truly don't need. So, what is the antidote to desire? It's connection." - Tim Corcoran   Are You Ready For A Vision Quest?     "A Vision Quest is the ultimate shedding of distractions - whether it's tents, warmth, or Facebook likes, those are the trappings of the ego. Those things are what brings us safety, security, and comfort which are all allusions of the ego. A Vision Quest is the intentional process of shifting one's identity from the place of the ego to the place of one's soul. For that to happen, the ego has to loosen its grip during this shedding process and that isn't comfortable. That's why it's important for people have this honest calling and a certain courage to do a Vision Quest because they have to be ready to let go of the things that keep them comfortable. You will get uncomfortable during the process but that is a healthy thing because we live in a culture that worships the 'God of Comfort' and we lose our souls to it, maybe even our planet as a result." - Tim Corcoran     Links From Today's Show  Tim Corcoran 196 Aubrey Marcus 032 Gay Hendricks 378 Dr. Michael Ruscio 312 Kevin Kelly Alan Watts | All Retch & No Vomit 255 Ted Ryce Aubrey Marcus Podcast | #195 Humans and Nature with Tim Corcoran Paleovalley - Save 15% on your ACV Complex with the code 'JOSH' Drink LMNT – Zero Sugar Hydration: Get your free LMNT Sample Pack, you only cover the cost of shipping Botanic Tonics - Save 20% off with code 'WELLNESS20' Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes breathwork.io M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Purpose Mountain Facebook Instagram Twitter Twin Eagles Wilderness School Facebook Instagram YouTube   About Tim Corcoran Tim Corcoran is the founder of Purpose Mountain, where he serves as a certified Nature Based Purpose Guide to support people who hear the call from wild nature to discover their purpose, those with a burning desire to live their vision and a willingness to work with resistance and fears through the Ecology of Self and Voice Dialogue. If you heard us on Part One, we honored our ancestors. If you haven't heard Part One, make sure you go back and listen to Part One. It'll give you perfect context for Part Two of this Solocast. This is where we talk about a concept of touching death. Touching death. When I was on the mountain, I had a direct message and the direct message was about our thoughts. You know, psychoneuroimmunology is how thoughts become things, but yet thoughts are like waves in the ocean. Thoughts come and go. They are unlimited and sometimes like unfathomable in size and texture and in message. So then what exactly is the thought? You know, when I did this four day water fast up on the mountain for the 10 day Native American Vision Quest, the bridge between reality, the bridge between the underworld, the creepy crawlies, the bugs, the animals, and here, the 3D reality becomes so very thin.   Josh Trent (01:15): So very thin. So I took in this message: What makes a thought true instead of a thought being static and noise? And how do I make truth about a signal instead of the noise? How do I disconnect from the quantum, the collective field of thoughts and how those thoughts becomes things? Well, I believe that the only thing that makes a thought true is my soul's attention poured into it. And on top of that, the emotions that I experience after I attach to that thought. Now this is huge: The only thing that makes any of our thoughts true is the attention that I pour into the thought. And then also the emotion that I experience after I attached to that thought. So that is for all of us, the understanding of what makes a thought true. And how do those thoughts completely control subconsciously how I show up in the world with my heart open or with my heart closed?   Josh Trent (02:15): So I can be thankful. And this is, this is the lesson that I want to share with you. I, we, all of us can be thankful, truly grateful for my feelings. Especially as men, we have been shamed into beliefs, like, "Suck it up, Pussy. Big boys don't cry." Which is honestly the abuse of the male psyche in this world. This connection to a belief that emotions should not be felt. Emotions need to be pushed down. Emotions are not to be shown, especially by men. It is actually the bane of our existence. It's the very thing that the feminine, if you identify as a heterosexual partner or however you identify, it is the very thing that the feminine wants from the masculine and that is to emote, to show emotions. So it's a beautiful gift, love and acceptance. Can I accept the thought? Can I love the thought?   Josh Trent (03:08): Can I ask the thought maybe if it's painful, maybe if it's pleasurable, whatever it is, can I turn to my thought and can I ask my thought, what are you here to teach me? What are you here to teach me? And that is the most potent medicine that any of us can ever receive in any ceremony. For me, it just happened to be in nature and nature always holds the keys. I'll never forget. I was laying on my back and I was chasing the sun around the mountain side in Northern Idaho. There was deep forest cover. The canopy is very thick and I was laying on my back on the second night and into the third morning. And I had this awareness. If I'm experiencing an emotion that I do not want to feel that my soul understands is not the path or not my life's choice, then that emotion, that feeling that energy in motion, which creates a feeling - that is actually the power of choice.   Josh Trent (04:06): That is the bridge between me being thankful and loving the thought or me trying to kick the thought's ass and get out of my head. You know, you can connect with this. How many times have you thought a thought and realized that your resistance to the thought, your hatred towards the thought, your lack of love, essentially towards the thought is the very thing that perpetuates that thought from hanging around and keeps that thought around. So this is the gift. If my soul, Josh Trent's soul decides which thoughts are real and which thoughts are not. And by real, I mean, whatever thoughts apply to my soul's purpose and my heart - well, that's the way that I can share my love with the world. And there was this song, this beautiful song, which brings out so much emotion in me, and it was, "Peace Like A River."   Josh Trent (04:55): And the song goes something like this that gave me so much soulless. We have forgotten how to sing in this lifetime. We have been disconnected from our singing voice and this song was my ultimate medicine. And the song goes, "I've got peace like a river. I've got peace like a river. I've got peace like a river in my soul." And I went on and I kept saying things like strength like a mountain, joy like fountain, love from Great Spirit over and over and over again. And out of nowhere, I picture the face of my father. I pictured the face of my father and I don't ever really think I've fully healed from the wounding. My Father Wound until I received this medicine from Mother Nature. Because in that moment with tears streaming down my face, I got to honor the deep sacrifices my father has made for myself and my brother. Growing up, all the money he made to take care of us and the energy that my father spent to provide for my brother.   Josh Trent (05:58): And I. So, to my father, I forgive you. And please forgive me for all the ways that I have not honored you and not being grateful for what you did. Really my projections, my anger for you came from the hurting the relationship I had been trying so hard with white knuckles to make you understand me, to make you love me in the way that I wanted you to love me the whole time. Just not loving and accepting you for who you are in the exact way you are. And this was the greatest gift that I want to share with you. Forgiving my father so that I can be empowered with the father inside myself. Daniel Trent, I forgive you. I forgive all the ways that you did the very best you could. And maybe sometimes they weren't enough and I send you love for your journey and let this be enough for all of us.   Josh Trent (06:50): with the Father Wound. All the ways that our fathers have wounded us, maybe abandoned us because they themselves felt wounded and abandoned. And this is the all retch and no vomit that Alan Watts talks about. We pass on this lineage, this wounding in our lineage as men by regurgitating the exact behaviors that hurt us. This is why hurt people, hurt people. So consider this to be a flag of peace. I put down my weapons. I forgive, forgive my own father. I forgive the father inside myself. We have peace you and I. No longer do I need my father to open his heart and listen, because we are both fathers now. And of course I want my father to be a part of my life and my son's life if he chooses. But the only path of true love is sharing the heart's wisdom without any expectation.   Josh Trent (07:49): So you are loved. And please forgive me for the way that I have acted towards you as a wounded child. And I love you. And this was profound because later that afternoon, as I watched all the bees and the trees and the bugs and how nature has this beautiful synergy, I just became so grateful for the peace in my heart. Because this broken lineage, this projection of wounding, this unawareness of self, it stops with me. It stops with the awareness that I have for what is true, the objective truth that we all do our best, including that time zone, where my father came from, where many of our fathers came from, where sharing your emotions was an act of weakness. And really what that does is it brings us closer to death. And on that night, on that third night in my dream, I felt the washing of my nervous system with peace.   Josh Trent (08:54): Now I can speak to the truth of this present moment to truly honor the truth of the past. I have to forgive. When I choose to forgive, and this is the lightness and the peace you hear in my voice. Thank you, Mother Nature. Thank you Mother Nature for your wisdom, this gift of awareness and the peace and power you have given me washing my blood and my nervous system with the truth. A ho Great Spirit. Now, so I have a wellness podcast and hatred, resentment, bitterness is the poison that makes me feel unwell. And currently in my life at this Vision Quest, I came to this radical cul de sac of awareness, where I am experiencing unwellness. I had to get sick from the system itself. I had to get sick from society itself so that I know what it truly feels like to be a human in our world.   Josh Trent (09:45): And I definitely became sick, pushing the throttle down all the way to the floor. Looking back if I could have trusted Great Spirit and been in dialogue with our Mother Earth. I wonder, I just wonder, could I have achieved a level of success without sacrificing my health? This is how I choose to move forward. I finally know now what the discovery of loving awareness truly is. It's not some social media meme or something Ram Dass or Rumi once said. Loving awareness truly is observing all that is. The joy, the hate, the fear, the ecstasy, shame, guilt, sadness, - all of it. All the colors in the palette of emotions and experiences that we as human beings witness. And I feel that I have unlocked one of these secret keys that I want to share with you and this is to truly capital T to truly observe, to observe in truth.   Josh Trent (10:35): Knowing that all emotions, feelings, thoughts, and beliefs, they are rising to the surface to be loved. And I know it sounds reductionist. But all there is is love. And the truth is God is love. Even the word evil, which is love, right? Evil is love because evil is live spelled backwards, which Paul Chek and Dr. Vernon Woolf have shared. So even the evil in my life that I have experienced within myself and others is love because evil backwards is to live. I experienced so much sadness that day in this washing and this letting go of forgiveness, because when you rip a tree out of the ground, whether it's emotional, physical, or spiritual, some of the roots are going to break. I had to go through all the porn scenes that I had watched, all the women that I had sex with that I didn't love and sit down young Josh at 13, the one that was screaming at me to stop and next to him, next to him was my son, Novah.   Josh Trent (11:37): And I turned to him and I said, when you're angry, let yourself be angry. When you hold onto your anger or your resentment, it's like heating up water on the stove. When you boil water on the stove, it will bubble, but the bubbles have to rise and pop and come out. Now you may not know young Josh and young Novah -when these bubbles are coming out, you may be with friends or family or even playing. So it's very important that you allow yourself to feel your anger and you know what, your anger is always safe with me. Your anger is always welcome here, because what happens with unchecked anger, that you will be angry with people. And you don't know why, because that anger is really subconsciously wanting to express itself. But if you don't allow yourself to feel it, and this is the key, this is the lesson.   Josh Trent (12:24): When we do not experience the permission to feel our anger, that anger comes out sideways towards others, that we care about, that we really don't want to hurt, but we do because of unchecked anger, because it's so uncomfortable to feel. And on this third night, I see life through a new lens with forgiveness, for self, with the letting go of resentment. With the understanding that we are all victims of intellectualization, which is another Solocast that I actually recorded up on the mountain. After the quest, feeling into this prayer for really disempowerment. For many years, I had been curious and even neurotic at times, if I had been like sexually abused as a child, and I asked Great Spirit, you know, with all this forgiveness and all the pain that I 'd gone through with an open heart, you know, has it ever happened? Have I ever been sexually abused?   Josh Trent (13:19): And in the stillness, this was the gift. I was able to see that my question actually came from me trying to hide from the responsibility of my life choices. In other words, shame and blame. As a reason for my pain and misfortune, I went through a full inventory of everything I'd done and Great Spirit said to me, "It is yours, no others." And I flashed to my early porn memories connecting the dots when pornography first entered my life via VHS and DVDs and internet starting at about 13 years old. And I turned to my young self and my son in the forest as the sun was setting. And I said, your sex energy is your fire. Never let anyone steal your fire only ever choose to give your fire to people that you love and that you want to share your life with because when it comes to sex energy, if you're using pornography, if you're using your sex energy to divide and conquer, then you are disassociated from self.   Josh Trent (14:22): That is where addiction truly comes from. And this is for all of us a lesson when it comes to sex energy. Here's how, you know, if you're using pornography too much, or if it's become a tool of disassociation and addiction, if the real thing, if, if a man having sex with a woman, if it scares you and you find comfort in the fake in the screen, well you know that you are now in a path of disassociation and potential addiction? So the wisdom of the heart is really what is all calling us forward. Life in the 3D world seems to be this consistent reminder for all of us to slow down in order to hear the wisdom of the heart. And sometimes the wisdom of the heart points to the masks that wear and the biggest mask that I wear, the biggest mask that I wear is having to have everything all together, having to have the perfect thing to say at the right time and have all my shit together.   Josh Trent (15:20): And it's just all. bullshit It's not reality. We never have to be perfect. We never have to have the perfect thing to say. And that is a massive gift for all of us to look at the masks that we wear and really being ourselves, unlocking, being ourselves in a current moment. Can we just let that be enough? That is the path to be yourself in every current moment and not feel that you have to be perfect; have it all together. There is forgiveness there. There is peace there. And when there is peace, power can be trusted. That is the ultimate lesson when it comes to peace, because we are all searching for peace inside self. Yet people try to find peace by first getting power, but you cannot have power as the precursor to peace. It works the other way around. So where do these thoughts come from?   Josh Trent (16:13): All these thoughts that I've been sharing with you and all these thoughts that we experienced? Well, if I had to make an intelligent observation, I believe that thoughts come from a culminated library of my own experiences, things that I've seen, things that I've thought before, and also the collective field, the quantum, where there might just be thoughts, emanating around vibrationally electronically, literally. And then I also think in some experiences when there's the piercing of the 3D world by the four and sometimes extraterrestrial five. I do believe different beings come in and implant thoughts into people. So how do we make sense of this? How do we make sense of why thoughts are there and how do we learn how to love the thought? I want to share this that was given to me by a mentor and a friend, Paul Chek. When I received an entity after a terrible Ayahuasca session, that took me almost 18 months to clear the beginning of my healing came with this prayer:   Josh Trent (17:04): So for any of us, if you ever have a thought that is intrusive, say this prayer. By the power of God invested in me. If you are not here to teach me something, to teach me how to get closer to love, then I ask you to leave right now. And I send you love for the journey. You are not allowed in my inner sanctum. And if you try to force yourself in my inner sanctum, you will be stuck in purgatory forever. I do not fear you. And I ask you to leave. And this is the key I send you love for the journey. Now be gone. Feel the peace in that, feel the peace in not fighting or being angry at your thought, turning to your thought. Or as Dr. Vernon Woolf says your holodome, and giving it the permission to let go. These thoughts that come just like high, low pressure...sodium, potassium...chaos and order. Chaos is always seeking   Josh Trent (17:55): order. Fear is always seeking love, thoughts that cause constriction, they are guideposts. They are guideposts to what is needed. And what is being called for attention in our psych. And two years ago, Paul said to me in his home that came so viscerally when I was on the mountain. And it really wells up a knot in my throat right now with my son on the way, he said, "Once I learned how to parent the child inside of me, the universe will put one in my arms." And I'm just so grateful. I'm so grateful because the ego is not the enemy. The ego is the amigo. With inside of the ego, There is deep wounding calling to be healed from both my life and maybe the lives and sins of my father and grandfather that came before me. And so as I touch death, I can have acceptance and really joy for the pain.   Josh Trent (18:51): Now, this sounds crazy, but just level with me for a moment. Pain, without a teacher yields a lack of patience, but pain with a teacher yields resilience. And that is the kind of resilience that can be trusted because it is earned wisdom. And I flashed, and I had this deep understanding of why the body carries extra weight, why my body has been carrying extra weight. And that is because of shame, guilt, anger, and trauma. And this is big. Anger - Only anger sure can be washed away by the healing of nature in Great Spirit, a reconnection to nature and the power of God, where there is no anger in this spaciousness, but unprocessed and dealt with anger is the biggest cause a fat storage in the body in the entire universe. And this became radically clear to me, what am I really talking about here?   Josh Trent (19:43): What am I angry about? I was angry about life in this world that we live in, why we die, having anger that we die, but here's the reality. We are all going to die. And there is so much peace in that. There is peace in the understanding that life is finite. We are infinite beings, but the life we chose to live here is finite. And so if you have a 24/7, 365 unprocessed trauma that lingers in the background of your subconscious mind, maybe you have a lifetime of guilt about a person you heard, or what could have been, or what should have been, or maybe you have trauma. That's very deep, maybe it's sexual or physical or emotional trauma, and you're working on it. This is also the time that the body can put on extra weight because trauma is coming up and it is fueled to be burned and away.   Josh Trent (20:36): And so these are all pain teachers. Anger, shame, guilt, and trauma, all of these things, which I unpack very in-depth on the victim of intellectualization Solocast. Pain without a teacher yields a lack of patience, but pain with a teacher yields resilience. And that is resilience. That can be trusted. So when the pain arrives, turn to the pain, ask the pain, what are you here to teach me? What are you here to teach me and then go right to it. Because in that situation, you can really understand and embody the resilience that life is calling you to bring. And that is the lesson that is the ultimate lesson of this Vision Quest, to understand the anger, shame, guilt, and trauma, they all feed the fire of not being loved. Fear of being broke, fear of being hurt, fear of being wrong. Fear of fill in the blank, but what does fear want?   Josh Trent (21:30): Fear wants love. Fear always wants love. Look at the laws of science and the laws of nature and gravity and high, low pressure, and understand that shame and guilt and trauma and anger they simply want love. And so, as we close, which there'll be many more Solocasts, maybe, maybe a few more honestly, because the wisdom is still going to come. As we close, let's feel the anger about what maybe the collective is feeling; the mask, wearing the COVID because below that anger it's sadness, the sadness of how could you, why did you, how could this be? Why God, why? Below the anger and sadness, sometimes sadness has to be woken up by anger. And so we do here, our work on planet earth and these physical bodies in these 3D realms. And we do our loving best to share our true experiences for one another and have the courage, to be honest with one another. Aho Great Spirit.   Josh Trent (22:30): Thank you for my reconnection to our Great Mother and for welcoming me back home. Great Spirit, please forge me in all of us like a tool so that we may do your bidding in this world and that we may have peace. I am weld with emotion after the quest. And if this resonates with you, you can DM me on Instagram. You can reach out to me in many ways. There's a contact form on the website. I am in service to love, present in self-evident truth and at home grounded in nature with space for myself, family, community, and the world to take part in my trustworthy guidance. Let this be enough, let this be enough today that we can all take solace in the words of Rumi, "Beyond right and wrong, there is a field and I will meet you there."   Josh Trent (23:25): If you enjoyed this Solocast, this is a recording. One week when I returned home from the quest with my group of seven and our four guides, Alia, Hayden, Mark, and Tim enjoy this as a reflection of truth that is current the first, second, third, and fourth week on my return home, please enjoy this recording with my group. A ho. Wow! Welcome back to the matrix. That's been my integration. How has it been going? How has my integration process been going? I would say overall from many of the different, I guess you could describe them as ego stripping experiences. This one by far had the most realness when I came home and it's a testament to when I crossed the threshold, as the, I guess, showed up in the monkey in Tim's dream. Uh, there was a part of my young boy inside of me that really needed this medicine.   Josh Trent (24:31): And as I've come home, I've been talking slower. I haven't been in a hurry to wow people. I've really seen like the layers of my psychological onion be fucking peeled when I came back home. And a big part of that was just really feeling safe and secure and loved and whole in my body. And I know that my physical health isn't perfect right now, but it feels damn good to come from a place where I'm being healthy, not from scarcity, not from like, oh my God, it's an emergency blah, blah, blah, but just really loving myself and being healthy from that place. And it, and it really rocked my world, you guys, cause I didn't think about this. I didn't feel this until I got home and I'm sure it'll unfold for a long time, but there was this point a couple of days, I was...We have a trail here and I was walking in nature and I had this little sit spot on a rock and it overlooks the stream and I was sitting there and I was like, it flashed me back to a fucking moment   Josh Trent (25:33): I had, when I was a personal trainer. When I went into personal training, I wanted to make my body look good so that I could like be with the feminine and look cool. And like all these things that I think a young undeveloped 25 year old man does, and I was sitting on a rock and I was like, "Oh my God, this is what I've been wanting the whole time to actually be well and be healthy and love myself from a place of calmness instead of using health and my outward appearance as a way to look cool and be accepted and receive love from other people." Like coming home to the fucking realness is really what it felt like. And it felt really good. And so I'm excited about that. And then wouldn't, you know, it, when I came home, you know, I had shared with y'all that, that I had quote, "hypothyroid," well, I'm doing a podcast and I'm meeting with this functional medicine doctor and he's like, "Josh, you don't have hypothyroid.   Josh Trent (26:27): "That was a misdiagnosis. That was actually somebody trying to sell you a bunch of bullshit." And I'm like, "Oh my God, this is exactly what Hayden said where he was like, 'Dude, in your share, you had to get sick. You had to go on this quest for wellness to feel unwellness in your body. And you had to go into the matrix into the system, into the belly of the beast,' so that I would feel what it's like to be sick from the system itself and be masqueraded and have, and have things presented to me as truth when they're really not true because the truth is that health comes from self love. Wellness comes from me, loving myself. Like period. End of story. And there's no esoteric babble that needs to go along with that. It's just, it is what it is.   Josh Trent (27:13): Like wellness comes from loving myself and from being a loving human being to other people and to the degree that I'm, uh, angry or judging or projecting my bullshit onto other people, well that creates an unwellness and dis-ease in myself and I've heard this shit a thousand times, but something clicked from this quest where I was able to sit with myself and really feel what the hell that even means and what the reality of that even means, because it's so easy for me to get caught up. I have all these books and I have all these interviews and I was feeling this on the quest. I became a victim of intellectualization, a victim of my own intellectual mind, where I had heard Hawkins in 'Power vs Force' and in 'Letting Go' talk about the space between the head and the heart. But something really clicked when I came home and I was like, oh my God, like this, this is everything. And so my work, my path and my integration of this, this quest is to bring the quest home, to be in nature, to pray to our Mother and to connect with her and to honor her, I've been picking up trash when I go on walks with my lady and she was so stoked yesterday, she was like, "I love you coming back from this quest,' she's like, "I love the Mountain Man."   Josh Trent (28:28): I love the mountain man. And so she, she was like, I'm really proud of you. And it's, it's been beautiful in our relationship. You know, it's been really, it's been really beautiful because she's noticing the difference in me where before, when I went out there, like, you know, I'm not going to lie. Like when I came back, there was the culture shock. I mean, holy shit, there was a massive culture shock because I came from like deep nature and just laying with bugs and being in the dirt and like feeling the joy of sunrise. And then I am wearing a mask in the airport and I had this moment, you guys like it really like, it's quite emotional. This woman was playing with her child and she had a mask on and I just, I, in the airports, I take my mask off, you know, it's not a 'Fuck you,' it's not an anger thing.   Josh Trent (29:17): It's just like, come tell me to wear it and I'll put it on. So that's how I roll. And I had my mask off and I had my mask off the entire time and I'm sitting there and I'm talking to this woman about her baby. And I told her my son's coming. And she was like, "Oh, it's so beautiful." She's like, "I wish I could take my mask off and play with my child." And I just calmly took a breath. And I looked right at her and I said, "You can take it off right now. You don't have to wear this." And it was almost like she double clutched emotionally. She was like, is he right? Can I take it off or? And I realized, oh my God, like this, this is what the world needs. And this is what I shared to everyone.   Josh Trent (29:54): And this is what the gift of, of reality that spirit gave me. And that is when it comes to creating change in the world and in, in creating loving change, less anger, more truth. And it's exactly what I shared in our circle. Less anger, more truth. That was the message that spirit gave me when it comes to mask wearing and psychological control and COVID and manipulation, less anger, more truth in the same thing, mirrored in a conversation with my brother yesterday, where he was going off and off and off about all the crazy stuff that's happening in the world. And I was like, well, what if we held them both at the same time? What if we held the dark and the light at the same time? And we said, okay, we're not going to bypass this. We're going to feel into it, but we're also going to present solutions based on love.   Josh Trent (30:38): And instead of focusing on, "DON'T WEAR A MASK!" It's like, "Hey, here's how you can trust your immune system. Here's how you can build your immune system. Here's how you can be healthy in your own body, in your own psyche." That's the direction I want to go in. And I realized I became to go full circle. My integration, my culture shock is just the reality that I had become a victim of my own intellectualization, where I would intellectualize everything to death. I just intellectualize everything to death. So, um, I've been feeling it all. I've been feeling. I've been feeling the deep sadness, feeling the pain. And when I looked into that mother's eyes in the airport, just how controlled she is. And she's just a mirror of the millions of people in our country that are being controlled. And it makes me, honestly, you guys, it makes me want to go out with a spear like our ancestors did and just start stabbing people.   Josh Trent (31:27): It makes me want to go to war and that's not gonna, that's not gonna do anything. It's not going to do anything. You know, if it comes down to that in the future, I'm sure we'll all be on the front lines together, but, but it's not, I think we're in a different kind of war. I think we're in a war of consciousness where, you know, my grandfather went to World War II and he actually had to kill people. You know,...Can you guys imagine what that would feel like? I mean, I just, can you imagine what it would feel like to have to kill people to be free? How crazy that would be? So just feeling into that and we don't have to do that. Like we can choose something we can, we can fight or what we believe in from love, not from violence and not from anger.   Josh Trent (32:15): and just feeling into all that you guys, you know, just feeling into the, the real nobility and the real power in being at peace is one of the things I wrote to Tim and Mark before we started as like, "Hey," he was like, "I, you know, I'm going out here for my birthday. Like may peace and power would be the result." That was my quick mantra, my prayer, I just want, I want peace and I want power because cause that can be trusted. And so, um, that's the meaning of the making, um, mystery has been talking to me in dreams profoundly. So, and I guess there's, there's a part of my heart. That's honestly missing, sounds crazy missing the darkness and missing being out there. And just knowing that every year I will be doing this from now on, because talk about the ultimate spiritual check-in, we'll talk about the ultimate check-in for who you are.   Josh Trent (33:07): I think as far as support, I could use support in sharing the podcast, you know. If these messages align and when one of the things is having shorter episodes, like five, 10, 15 minute episodes that are easier for people to listen to that don't take an hour of people's time and still delivering potent medicine in that short time. So I can request support on that. My experience of the Vision Quest woven has woven its way into my day-to-day life. Um, it's been really strong in my connection to nature and just loving where I live. It could definitely be stronger in the fact where I had this vision of like taking my son out, you know, those baby carriers, I think they're called like baby bjorn or something. So taking my son out and I had this vision of having a guide, teach us how to live from the land, like, you know, which plants are safe and which plants are not. And here's how you do the fire like Jesse did, and just really want wanting that here. So trying to find someone here in Austin, where we can learn about how to live off the land, you know, how to survive basically.   Josh Trent (34:18): So that's it, I'm feeling all the things you guys I'm feeling all the emotions that are in the dark bucket and I'm feeling all the emotions that are in the delight bucket too. And just kind of like, whoa, it's been, it's been intense. Um, I've been living to my commitments and I haven't, I haven't felt the call to have the conversation of healing with my father yet because the father in me is like, it's not time. It's not time. So what's beautiful is that I did the healing with him up there on the hill. And so I don't, I don't need to run to go here with my father cause I've already healed that. Like there's a part of me. That's already touched the compassion and the forgiveness that I have in him. So if that's meant to be in the future, it will be. A ho.         Build Immunity. This is a very special solocast. This solocast is about honoring our ancestors, where I've come from, where you've come from, the Spirit, the Great Spirit that guides all things. And the mother, the Mother Earth, who has supported us from Day One. You know, this solocast was probably the most requested solocast I've ever received. I probably had more people that direct messaged me and texted me and said, “We want to know, Josh. We want to know what was it like after you did a 10 day traditional Native American Vision Quest.” And I am here to say that I have touched death with two hands. I have touched death with two hands and I'm back. I am back from the great beyond and my 41st birthday. I have lessons and light that I'm ripe with this heart that is beating in my chest ever since I took my first, my first breath out of my mother, Mary, my heart has cracked wide open and the river of emotions I feel after 10 days in deep nature in north Idaho, 20 minutes, north of Priest River, Idaho, the emotions I feel for humanity and for our Great Mother are unsurpassed in all of the potent medicine that I have ever received. Josh Trent (01:29): The overwhelming message was that you and I, we can choose to live at the pace of nature, or we can choose to die trying to fight her and just let that land because one of the things that Tim Corcoran and Mark Tollefson, my two guides, at Purpose Mountain that guided us - all seven of us. I went with seven people to this Native American Vision Quest, which I'm going to unpack. I'm going to inspire you with my story with this incredible story where I got to touch death with two hands. One of the things that Tim and Mark talk about in the Quest is that you are held by the Great Mother and just feel into that when you're held by the Great Mother you're never lost. And one of the things that we can all do, if you're ever lost, if you're ever feeling like life has kicked you and a relationship has ended, your job has plummeted.   Josh Trent (02:29): A friendship has gone up in flames. If you are ever lost, if we are ever lost, take your deep breath and stop. That isn't in wildlife. And in search and rescue, there was a phrase that many trackers go by, and that is, If you are lost in the forest stop, because someone is trying to find you. And how is that a beautiful metaphor for how we live our life and how we have our relationships when we are lost, stop, just stop. And that is the one great gift that we all can receive from a 10 - day Native American Vision Quest. But when you stop, you have to be prepared. You have to be prepared to feel all the feelings that were below the surface that are poking through that you didn't want to feel that were uncomfortable. And that's okay because in the stillness, there is wisdom.     Josh Trent (03:32): There is wisdom in the sadness. There is wisdom in the fear. There is wisdom in the anger and below the fear there is really just love. After coming back from these 10 days, which I'm going to share. I promise I'm going to share. I truly no longer fear death at 41 years old on my 41st birthday. And now just two weeks since I've been back, I do not fear death anymore, but there is a deep sadness because below the fear below the veil of that fear is really just a garden of sadness, rich with the seeds of truth, the truth of sadness that one day I, you, we will no longer be able to practice our gratitude to be in gratitude for the gift of growing and fulfilling my purpose right here with Wellness Force to love and be of service and have kindness for my family, community, Great Spirit and Mother Earth, you know, being angry that we die.     Josh Trent (04:28): This is another gift from the Quest: being angry that we die comes from the egoic grasp of self-righteousness. Feel into that. When you are angry at the mystery, when you are angry at Great Spirit, when you are angry at nature, how egoic, how much hubris are you sitting on a golden seat on, on a cloud of hubris. Being grateful before we die is actually the gift because we're not making it out of here alive, my friend, We're all going to the great beyond and being grateful before we die, this is what yields a life worth living, where we can truly live while we honor the great mystery. We are all from the earth, not on the earth and we are all home. To begin the story, there is a beautiful saying in prayer that comes from the language and the tradition of the Lakota people.     Josh Trent (05:22): And it is, “All are related, are all my relations.” And it's a wonderful reminder of our interconnectedness here on earth and of the Spirit within all beings. I'm inspired by Nancy Windheart - to her phrase of all my relations. I honor you in this circle of life with me today. I am grateful for this opportunity to acknowledge you in this prayer, to the Creator for the ultimate gift of life. I thank you to the mineral nation that is built and maintained my bones and all foundations of life experience. I thank you to the Plant Nation that sustains my organs and body and gives me healing herbs for sickness. I thank you to the Animal Nation that feeds me from your own flesh and offers your loyal companionship in this walk of life. I thank you and to the Human Nation that shares my path as a soul upon the sacred wheel of earthly life,     Josh Trent (06:20): I thank you. To the Spirit Nation that guides me invisibly through the ups and downs of life and carrying the torch of light throughout the ages, I thank you. To the four winds of change and growth, I thank you. You are my relations, my relatives. Without them, who I would not live. We are in this circle of life together, coexisting, codependent, co-creating our destiny. One, not more important than the other one nation evolving from the other, and yet each dependent upon the one and above and the one below. All of us are a part of this great mystery. And I thank you, God, I thank you Great Mystery for this life. And you can feel the tears in my voice because when I flew out on my 41st birthday, I started my Vision Quest at the Austin airport. And it was my birthday and I had my mask off and a woman ran up to me with a fairly large, protruding, obese stomach with two masks on her face and a large 64 ounce soda in her hand, screaming at me saying,     Josh Trent (07:28): “Sir, sir, sir…You need to wear your mask.” And I just simply turned to her, on my birthday, and I said, “You're okay. It's okay.” And I could see the fear in her eyes, and I can see the fear in so many of our eyes, not just when we're out in public and we see a reflection of self and of love and others. But when we look in the mirror, because I know that any person that I come in contact with and right there on Day Number One, I was given a beautiful gift to beautiful truths. And that is, No one is coming to save you. And that's the great news because you can choose to save yourself. And number two, no one is inherently out to get you; the majority of the fabrication of the egoic mind, the mind that doesn't want you to feel it doesn't want you to try hard and not get there.     Josh Trent (08:21): It doesn't want you to open up to a lover or yourself or your community and be vulnerable people because you've been hurt before. Well, these two truths are self-evident and of course in special situations, use your intuition. Sometimes someone is out to get you, but overall, overall, no, when you are in rational and irrational fear, when your mind is making up stories, that's a rational fear. And that was the first gift, you know, before any ceremony, it has been said that the moment ceremony starts is when you accept the invitation. And that is what happened for me. The very moment I arrived at the Austin airport on Day One, actually it was Day Zero. I didn't even gone to Idaho yet. I was already given a gift, a gift of these two truths that no one is coming to save me and no one is inherently out to get me. And so I had to put on the mask to fly on the airplane so that I could go receive my medicine. And I felt a well of anger in me, which I'll touch on later. That well of anger is really just sadness. And if we really feel into this, our society is sick. Krishnamurti says, “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”     Josh Trent (09:37): And how is this not the most radical objective truth you could ever hear? So, there I am on the plane feeling into this sickness, the sickness, not just of society, but if I'm being honest, which from this moment forward, I am, and I've always done my best. But from this moment forward, my heart is cracked wide open because I had to take an inventory, not just in the Quest, not just out there in nature with no flashlight, no tent, no knife, no fire, just myself, my breath, my thoughts, a tarp for the rain and the sleeping bag and pad. But I had to take an inventory on that plane. And the inventory said, when did I let go of the wonder? When did I let go of the wonder of life? When did I stop singing? When did I stop dancing? When did I stop telling stories?     Josh Trent (10:28): And when did I stop honoring the mystery of life again, Mark and Tim, the Vision Guides said, “Whenever someone's lost in the forest, they must stop. They simply must stop because that is how you will be found.” We all need to stop and slow down and pay attention, put down the phone and head out to nature. This is not a passive drug induced hippy prayer. This is the wish of God, of Great Spirit and our Mother Earth who are watching us destroy the sacredness of community, the sacredness of family, the sacredness of earth with our ego and humorous. We think we know so much better than the energy that created us. Look at how self-righteous we have become. And this is the story. This is the beginning of this story. I arrive at camp with all of these thoughts, going through my mind, the radical realizations, not just on the plane and in the airport, but in the car ride, going out to Priest River, which is a two-hour drive from Spokane, Washington.     Josh Trent (11:27): And on the ride out there, I'm with my friend, Julie, who picked me up and took me to the camp. And I started to already feel the ceremony come through. First night, we get introduced to Tim and Mark and Ollie and Hayden, our guides, our co-guides. First night, radical, radical dreams. And this is what you will find when you are called to a 10-day Native American Vision Quest. The structure of the Native American Quest is that for three days, you do a deep soul in inventory. Really. It's a deep soul inventory. You uncover all the ways of being that have been not loving. And this is confronting; you take an inventory of how you've showed up for those you love when you've abandoned yourself. When you felt something in your egoic self, and use that to override your animal, self, your heart self, your true self, your loving self.     Josh Trent (12:24): And what came through for me was just this unchecked responsibility and poor management of my stress because I have been white knuckling. And I know you may feel me. If you are like this, are you the kind of person that white knuckles, because you will get what you want at all costs. Well, that's been me too, and I will never forget this moment around the fire in those first three days, really looking at the flames on my hand and my body and knowing that I am an infinite being who chose to be here and a finite existence. And that first night rocked my world because I knew that I was going to get deep healing on that mountain. And my inner young man was calling me. And so, in this Native American Quest, the first three days are ego unraveling and exercises and journaling, and really being with all the parts of yourself, you know, (Carl) Jung talks about the shadow and in all of us is a shadow, a shadow filled with demons, but guess what?     Josh Trent (13:27): Those demons just want love. And this is the ultimate gift of the Vision Quest, because when you go after those first three days and you walk out into nature, I will never forget going up to the campsite at first light woken up by wolves, howling at it. Must've been 4:45 in the morning. I mean, you could barely see the crack of light over the horizon. And I'm in my little tent. And I just hear these wolves screaming cause they had gotten a fresh kill on the very first day of our four day process, where we went out into nature. After we had selected our site after we had been stripped down after we had done our sweat lodges, where you sweat to the point where you didn't even know your body could sweat that much, the singing, the prayer, the asking for forgiveness. And this is really what we are all wanting.     Josh Trent (14:20): We want to forgive ourselves. We want God and Great Spirit and our mother, our Great Mother to forgive us. And this is the peace that we're all seeking. And that is the peace that I was awoken by, by animals in nature that get their kill because after the kill there is peace. And after there are certain parts of the older self that are killed, there is peace. And I felt that peace, but I also felt that terror way deep in my heart, there is nothing like waking up to wolves on a fresh kill in nature. As the sun barely cracks the horizon to put the fear of God in your soul. And as I walked up to the group and the fire and I crossed the threshold, walking deep into nature, about 30 minutes away from camp and camp had no cell service. I drew a box with sticks as I arrived to my site at the bottom of the hill and I placed my first stick vertically in that box.     Josh Trent (15:18): And I knew, I knew that that was the beginning of something where I would never be the same. And in that first night I had radical, radical sex nightmares. It actually, it actually started in the morning because you go out at first light on Day One. So the first three days was ego stripping and really ego inventory, soul inventory. Then there's four days. And when you go out for those four days on a traditional Quest, you have cold weather clothes, a sleeping mat, a tarp, and a sleeping bag and four gallons of water. That's it. So we're talking about no fire, no tent, no knife, no flashlight. You have to learn to befriend the dark. And that very first night I made it -  really wells me up with emotion, just feeling it. Now I went out in the morning at first light and I was exhausted.     Josh Trent (16:15): I hadn't slept the night before. I was nervous about being out in nature - cold with no food for four days and only water, no one to talk to; just myself. And I sat there after I had woken up from really the most tremendous nightmare, I think I had ever had. And it came from when I was foolish, when I was doing my best, but when I was foolish, when I chose to engage with a prostitute in Thailand where I was able to see where I was still not free, where I was still not free because I was battling with my own shame around sex and addiction and mistruths, and I needed some deep healing with my inner young man. And so in this dream, I was watching myself, abandon myself many years prior to the quest, looking at how to the public I wanted to, to be perceived as having an altogether, but deep within my own heart battling with the most visceral addiction, when it came to not feeling safe in my own skin, you could ever imagine.   Josh Trent (17:22): And on that first night, I let go of the war, which is what we all deserve - to let go of the war with ourselves. We can only heal ourselves when we choose that we're worthy of doing so. And when you are just like, I was put into nature to be held by the arms of a grandmother that you couldn't even imagine how strong she is - how loving, how peaceful she is. That is who we are from. That is who holds us. I woke up and I was terrified because I thought, "Oh my God, is this real?" I mean, when you're out there, the veil between dream and the veil between life here in the 3D is super thin. I mean, there were times throughout those four days where I didn't even know if I was alive or if I was dead or if it was a dream.   Josh Trent (18:13): I mean, it's, it is absolutely surreal. It blows away any mushroom, Ayahuasca, even multiple breathwork sessions I've had - puts them all in a pale light in comparison to the brutal potent medicine of Mother Nature at her finest. And that is at just peace because there is peace in my heart now as I've come home. But that peace only came on the other side of me waking up crying because of the pain of abandoning myself years prior and learning how to love this young man. Learning how to love my shame. I flashed back when I was sitting there as the sun rose and I was crying and I was just so grateful. I was so grateful for my life. I was so grateful that the nightmare wasn't true, even though the nightmare had occurred many years prior, when I chose to abandon the screaming voice of my inner young man. And that is the forgiveness that I deserved. So I sat down with young Josh and I sat down with my son. I sat down with my son next to me and I spoke to him about the power of forgiveness, the power of love and forgiveness.   Josh Trent (19:34): I will never forget five years ago when I had Gay Hendricks on the podcast and we're going to be having him on the podcast again. So stay tuned for that. And he told me, "Josh, you have to learn how to love your pain. If you want peace, you have to learn how to love your pain." I had no idea what Gay Hendricks was talking about. And now I do, because I know from my own experience where I had a three, four, even five dimensional conversation with my seven-year-old self, specifically my 13-year-old self, when I found pornography for the first time, I think my dad had a Playboy on the table. And then from there I got VHS and then DVDs and then the adult film store. And then, you know, all holes, barred when the laptop got pulled out and high-speed internet came into the picture.   Josh Trent (20:22): That was exactly the safety that I was seeking outside myself, that I love my parents. They did the best they could, but they did not teach me how to be loving and how to be comfortable in my own skin. And so the forgiveness I have for myself is also the loving and powerful forgiveness I have for them. And so I know now that we can only heal generational pain when we choose that we are worthy of doing so, we can only heal generational pain through forgiveness. Through forgiveness. Forgiveness is the antidote to fear. Forgiveness is the antidote to hatred and forgiveness is not something you can read in a book or read in a card. Forgiveness is something that you have to learn through experience. It's how to embody, how to cry through, how to bleed through, how to suffer through and all we can ever do is open the door to our family to enter.   Josh Trent (21:17): So, I asked that first night, and this is just the first night. I have way more to tell you. The very first night I asked at the altar of freedom without expectation for all my relations to enter my grandfather, Mauro, my grandmother, Marie, my grandfather, Gene, my grandmother, Louise, my brother, James, my mother, Mary, all my relations. My father, Daniel; everyone is welcome. Please forgive me, please forgive me. And I wept, I wept like a little boy and it was the most healing experience that I've ever had because finally, all the things that I had been searching for with Ayahuasca and with mushrooms and with "ceremony." All the time, it had been under my two feet and that was, I needed the potent medicine of nature of Mother Nature to ground me into her and total silence without distraction in nature for a hundred hours without food and only water so that I could actually understand what she has been telling me all along.   Josh Trent (22:23): And that is, "I'm home." I am home. We are all home here. We are not on the earth. We are from the earth and I wept. And on night, Number Two, I gave my seed back to Mother Earth. A lot of sexual shame, a lot of resentment of my decisions. I turned to those and I learned how to love them. I learned how to truly love them for what they are. They are my protector, because if I did not have pornography, if I did not have a way for me to feel comfortable in my own skin, well, then I wanted to leave my skin which is death. And so we have to touch death in order to feel the truth of life. And this is the purity that I gave to myself. I'm laying maybe 20 feet above my site. And I'm up on a mountain in Northern Idaho and it's freezing.   Josh Trent (23:21): And then when the sun comes up, it's emotional because the darkness has been lifted. And I spent most of my day, you know just being with my thoughts and laying in the sun and kind of chasing the sun around as it would shoot through the trees and little patches on the ground. And there was one moment where I just asked with a humble heart and I said, "Great Spirit. What will you have me do with Wellness Force? What will you have me do with Wellness Force?" Because we have hit this place with Wellness Force where we're growing, but we're not growing to the pace that can sustain the engine for the long-term.   Josh Trent (23:59) And I said, "Great Spirit, what would you like me to do? What would you like me to do with Wellness Force? Do you want me to burn this entire thing to the ground? Cause I will if that's what you want me to do." And I, with tears in my eyes, I looked up to the sky and I will never forget this moment. And I heard this voice, this little voice, and the voice said, "Just keep going, Just keep going." And I knew exactly what that meant. Just keep going and trust and love yourself as you go.   Josh Trent (24:34): And from an incredible connection of forgiveness and healing from the nightmare that I had had that gave me the gratitude for being with Carrie and having my son here in the world and just getting to be here. I walked over to the campsite. I pulled down my pants and for the first time, since I was 13 years old, I looked down at my cock and I connected the energy of my cock to my heart. And I connected my heart to my head. And I said, I am pure. I give my seed back to Mother Earth. I just kept saying this over and over again. This is pure. This is pure. I come into the earth for my wife and son and family and made this serve as a reminder for me that God's love, God's love - The love of Great Spirit is what ties the sex energy from my cock to my heart to my head.   Josh Trent (25:26): And as I came into the earth, I cried in the most profound sexual healing I have ever had in my life because I knew that I had come back home. I knew how powerful it was to be here right now. I felt the pride in my heart for choosing to reconnect with the love of the child. And I had this visualization of my lower self as I watched my lower self die. And I sent him love for the journey. It's this little boy holding a black crocodile. I can see him right now. I promise I'm not crazy. I mean, if you understand shadow and archetypes and going deep into the soldiering process, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, but in nature, it is so much more magnified. And I looked at young Josh and I told him from the heart of a father, it's okay, you can rest.   Josh Trent (26:13): And I thought of Mark Groves when we did our episode out there and he said, "The child can rest. The adult is here." The child can rest. The adult is here. And my little Josh with his black crocodile, he walked off into the distance and he looked back and I sent him love for the journey. And I asked for forgiveness and I cried again. I mean, I never, I never cried so much in my entire life as to the degree that I cried during this Vision Quest. And this is Part One, stay tuned for Part Two. As I unpack Day Two, Day Three, and Day Four, and bring home even more wisdom for the road ahead. And if this inspires you, if you feel this in your heart, some of what I've gone through and what I've shared about truly embodying forgiveness has been medicine for you.   Josh Trent (27:09): Let me know. Wherever you're watching this, post in the comments. Share it with somebody. Part two is coming very soon. And before I do the Part Two, I want to ask you if you'll just take a breath with me and just connect to the part of your heart that was touched by this Part One of the Vision Quest, because really what this is, is about touching death, touching the fact that we are not here forever. And so if there's anything meant to die today, well, then turn to it and do the work so it can die. It is not just the shame that keeps us hostage. It is our gathering of evidence that we should be guilty that continues to burn the fire of the shame. Shame is much different than guilt because with shame comes evidence that you're not enough, something that we put on ourselves.   Josh Trent (28:06):   The shame stories of like, "I'm not good enough because my parents told me I wasn't," or "I'm stupid. Cause the teacher told me that," or you know, "I'm fat. Cause my boyfriend and my girlfriend told me that." We are so driven by shame. But guess what? Shame is so much different than guilt. Guilt is a feeling you get when you did something you felt was wrong. Guilt is when you abandon yourself, when you abandon someone you love or you perceive you did something wrong and in Part Two of this quest and this story about really honoring our ancestors, this Rite of Passage that so many men, so many women, never got the gift of receiving. This is what we will do go into in Part Two. So until I see you in Part Two, I'm wishing you love and wellness.     Build Immunity. Breathe Deeply. One pragmatic practice is to separate out the worry from the thinking. Fear plus uncertainty equals anxiety but uncertainty can also move us into a growth mindset. When there's a lot of uncertainty and we're really feeling down on our luck or really stressed out because of our finances; in those moments when we're really worried, take a deep breath, step back and ask yourself if this worrying is helping? Because worrying makes our thinking brain go offline. What do we need to help us move forward? We need our thinking brain. - Dr. Jud Brewer   Get 15% off your CURED Nutrition order with the code WELLNESSFORCE   ---> Get The Morning 21 System: A simple and powerful 21 minute system designed to give you more energy to let go of old weight and live life well.   JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP | *REVIEW THE PODCAST*   Wellness Force Radio Episode 388 Internationally known expert in mindfulness training for treating addictions, Executive Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Sharecare, and Author of his latest book, Unwinding Anxiety, Dr. Jud Brewer, returns to explain how worry and anxiety become habits, why we become addicted to stress, and practical strategies to navigate uncertainty.   What do we do with our anxiety? In addition to reward based learning it has another trick up his sleeve. It takes what it learns and moves the learning into muscle memory as soon as it can. In other words, our brains are set up to form habits so we can free up brain space to learn new things."  - Unwinding Anxiety by Dr. Jud Brewer   Why Worry Can Be A Powerful Teacher "Inevitably life goes on and things are constantly changing and we have no control over the future. So, those feelings of uncertainty and wondering when the shoe is going to drop have been described as ways that make us feel like we're in control because at least we're doing something about it by worrying. However, worrying doesn't help and it actually makes our brain work less well. Try to see anything that isn't going well or isn't perfect as a learning experience. When your anxiety comes back up, what can you learn from it? If you lean into your hardships and challenges to get something out of them, they can actually be quite rewarding in the sense that you've grown and become more resilient." - Dr. Jud Brewer     Moving Into A Growth Mindset "What do we need to do in today's age? We need to be able to think beyond our narrow sense because the world has changed a lot. It has had this seismic shift that's never going to go back and we don't even know what that's going to look like. So, ask yourself, what I am I getting from worrying? See if you can step out of the worry and lean into that challenge. I'm not saying this is easy but I'm saying this is what we can do, right? Lean into this and ask yourself how you can move into your growth mindset and what's possible for you right now."  - Dr. Jud Brewer     Links From Today's Show    Belcampo breathwork.io Unwinding Anxiety by Dr. Jud Brewer 319 Dr. Jud Brewer The Craving Mind by Dr. Jud Brewer Eat Right Now app Craving To Quit Sharecare Mind Science 129 Gretchen Rubin Eric Kandel Carol Dweck Michael Pollan Loving kindness meditation guided by Dr. Jud Brewer How to use kindness to create connection during crisis Dr. Jud Brewer on using mindfulness to ease worry and anxiety 'Habit Loops & Everyday Addictions' 'Tame Your Feelings of Anxiety' TED Talk | A simple way to break a bad habit | Judson Brewer Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Dr. Jud Brewer Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube   About Dr. Jud Brewer Dr. Jud is the Executive Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Sharecare, Director of Research and Innovation at the Mindfulness Center, and associate professor in psychiatry at the School of Medicine at Brown University, as well as a research affiliate at MIT. bengreenfieldfitness.com/levels As I've mentioned many times before on podcasts, I've been using something called a "Continuous Glucose Monitor" (CGM) at various intervals throughout my life for about 4 years or so.     Considering that, as I write about here, I consider glycemic variability (which is exactly what these CGM's track) and inflammation (which is a bit more difficult to measure as it typically requires a visit to a lab) to be my top two key biomarkers for health and longevity, my use of a CGM has given me some very valuable data on how my body responds to certain foods, supplements, exercises, lifestyle practices, and even emotions. But how does a CGM work, exactly?  What does the really tiny "filamentous" needle actually measure? How do you get yours to "stick" for long periods of time, or in water?  How does the phone gather data from the sensor, and is EMF a concern? Does the sensor have to be calibrated to a blood glucose reading due to the fact it is recording interstitial fluid vs. blood?  Is this type of thing, from an insurance standpoint, that is only available to diabetics?  What do you do about activities that cause high glucose excursions, such as exercise/sauna/coffee etc., which wind up decreasing the metabolic score when, long-term, those are all glucose stabilizing/insulin sensitizing activities? Are there certain supplements or herbs that do the best job controlling blood glucose?     I explore these questions and many others in this podcast with Josh Clemente. Josh is a rocket scientist and worked at SpaceX for 6 years, managing the team that designed the life support systems in their space shuttles. Overtime, he started to notice extreme levels of fatigue and experienced volatile spikes and crashes of energy throughout his day. For someone that worked out consistently and followed the guidelines for what he believed to be healthy practices, it didn’t seem to add up. After experimenting with glucose monitoring, he realized that he was pre-diabetic, borderlining on fully-blown diabetic, and that the foods he was eating were having a significant impact on his performance. It was this discovery and struggle to derive actionable insights from his glucose monitoring that led him to start Levels.   Today at Levels Health, Josh and his team are revolutionizing the way people think about their metabolic health. And why is metabolic health so important? Before Levels, an average person had no way of understanding how efficiently or inefficiently their body was producing energy. Levels enables you, using a new CGM system, to access and understand this information in real-time, so you can start making better diet and lifestyle choices to avoid those energy peaks and valleys. During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Josh became a rocket scientist...8:50         -How Josh became interested in blood glucose management...32:05         -How a CGM works, what it measures, and how it compares to a blood glucose stick...19:33         -How the Levels app calibrates w/ the CGM's on the market...24:00         -Gold standard location for placement of the GCM on the body...30:45         -How to keep the CGM on your body for long periods of time...31:00         -How to obtain a CGM without faking you have diabetes...37:50         -If it's necessary to wear a CGM in perpetuity...39:15         -What is a "metabolic score?"...45:15         -What is an "activity response"...56:15         -How to keep blood glucose stable throughout the day and beyond...1:01:00         -Glucose disposal agents that may be outside the norm...1:06:45       -Josh's personal practices to stabilize his glucose levels...1:11:45

Unpacking the different eras of men and masculinity over the last century including the industrial and agricultural revolutions and how that has impacted fathers and their children. How fear is being multiplied on fear as government officials are releasing statements such as, "If you have to sing, wear a mask, and don't sing too loud." The mass media narrative right now that wants to divide society when the very thing we need is to be an embodied community. Exploring the choice we have right now: We can feed the fear or do our own research on what's going on. 361 Luke Storey The fact that we humans have been born from bacteria and viruses; we have also survived because of bacteria and viruses. We need to take responsibility for ourselves because the moment we say it’s someone else’s responsibility or we blame someone for something like not feeling a particular way or experiencing life in the way that we want to experience life, we disempower ourselves and we give our power away. That does either one of two things; we either retract from the world or we lash out in the world." - Stefanos Sifandos   Navigating The Shadow Way   "The shadow way is about intimacy and relationships. It’s about how you give and receive love. It’s about whether you’re allowing people in and surrendering to that or you are too scared of love because you’re afraid of loss." - Stefanos Sifandos   Do Something That Scares You Every Day     "Do something that scares you every day and I'm not suggesting you go put your life at risk but at what point do you draw the line? We're all going to have to move through different fears and thresholds; some of which are higher than others. I call it the elastic band effect. Your elastic band or tolerance might be longer or shorter in some areas compared to how it is for other people but eventually it will snap. So you want to bring yourself to the place right before it snaps because that's your edge and then peak over. If you have a deep fear of physical contact, for example, that's a great opportunity for you to look into that and what it actually means." - Stefanos Sifandos     Links From Today's Show    The Conscious Warrior Reclaim Your Kingdom Chaos To Clarity Be The Queen Energy Healing Program Conscious Mentorship with Stefanos Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes breathwork.io M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Stefanos Sifandos Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube TikTok LinkedIn Pinterest   About Stefanos Sifandos Stefanos Sifandos has been immersed in deep men’s empowerment work and the exploration of intimate and sacred relationships. When someone brings up the subject of content marketing for real estate investors, folks generally fall into one of two groups; those that are currently creating content to build their business and their brand and those that say, “what the heck is content marketing”? It’s an age-old adage – books are a three-dimensional business card. In today’s vernacular (from the book Sell With Authority) a book is an excellent example of cornerstone content. Many agency owners I know are curious about how to become a successful author but have decided they’ll never have the time or space to actually write that book. Josh Steimle has helped many clients recognize that they actually can get that book written and it doesn’t have to take years or be a painful experience. Josh is an agency owner and former guest (Episode #182). As his agency (MWI) matured and his partners were running the day-to-day operations, Josh decided to explain what it takes to become a book author to grow their businesses just like he had done for his agency. During our conversation, Josh explains how agency owners can write a book that demonstrates their expertise and allows them to step into their authority position. He then breaks down the book writing process to make it faster, less cumbersome, and very doable for the busy agency owner who wants to learn how to become a successful author. This is the episode for you if you’d like to add the title “author” to your list of accomplishments. Josh busts many myths and helps the listeners chart a course to getting that first draft done!
