Colin Marston is a record producer and musician based in New York City. He is the owner of Menegroth The Thousand Caves Recording Studios in Woodhaven, Queens. Colin is recognized for his versatile contributions as a multi-instrumentalist, proficient in guitar, bass, and keyboards. When not on tour with bands like Behold... The Arctopus, Dysrhythmia, Krallice, and the reunion lineup of Gorguts, he is recording, producing, mastering, and mixing music. In this capacity, Colin has worked with a diverse array of artists, including Imperial Triumphant, Genghis Tron, Jarboe and Liturgy.

Colin Marston is a prolific multi-instrumentalist and record producer, who has been a vital fixture in the worlds of metal and experimental music since the 00s. Between his bands Krallice, Behold...the Arctopus, and Dysrhythmia, his studio, Menegroth the Thousand Caves, his numerous solo projects and collaborations, and his membership of the reunion line-up of tech-death legends Gorguts, his body of work is immense and many-tentacled. Colin joins me to talk about Gorguts' 1998 avant-garde masterpiece, 'Obscura', regarded as one of the most important records in the history of death metal.

Colin is probably the busiest guy in metal with an overwhelmingly large discography of overwhelmingly ambitious music. As a performer he plays guitar in bands like Krallice and Encenathrakh, 6-string bass with death metal legends, Gorguts, and of course the infamous Warr guitar in the infamous prog outfit Behold... the Arctopus. In addition to his many projects as a performer, Colin maintains an active recording schedule at his studio, Menegroth, and has adapted quite impressively in the face of COVID-19 lockdowns with more albums than most people make in years. Today's episode opens with a trilogy of tracks involving the incomprable multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, Colin Marston. We start with new music from his band Krallice, who just put out a punishing new record of extreme black/death metal. We follow that with some of his work from behind the board with Afterbirth, off their stunning new album Four Dimensional Flesh. Then we'll hear something from Colin's collaboration with the legendary Gorguts off their brilliant comeback album Coloured Sands. Suffocatingly dark and punishing tracks from new albums by Cosmic Putrefaction, Solothis and Ruin Lust will show up to perferoate your eardrums as well. Heavyweights of Canadian thrash Razor, Eudoxis and Infernäl Mäjesty will all make an appearance to get the rivet-heads in the pit moving, alongside a track from terrifying Norwegian thrashers Condor. The second half of the show will feature hard-rocking fuzz grooves from Magic Circle, Dead Quiet and Getaway Van, alongside spacey psychedelic jams from Stonefield, Moths & Locusts and White Hills. Kelly Moran is an exceptional pianist and composer originally from Long Island, now based in Brooklyn, NY. Her current work focuses on performances for both prepared and unprepared solo piano. A student of 20th century composition, her output contains healthy amounts of lyricism and dissonance, beauty and black metal aesthetics.
