Today's guest is the CEO of Mg Biologics, Sarah Meyer Thompson. Sarah's father, Mark Meyer, started Mg Biologics in 1999. It was here at Mg where she learned about antibodies, performed research trials, and launched new products for the equine neonatal industry. Mark remains involved with Mg as Chairman of the Board, however, he has passed the CEO reigns (horse pun intended) to Sarah. She is honored to be leading Mg Biologics as they press forward.  Their products are focused on how to benefit your animal's health, from neonatal to critical care needs. This includes plasma, IgG, antibody products, and antivenom for equine and canine. They believe (and research shows) that antibodies (and antivenom) are beneficial in reducing the duration and severity of a disease or in arresting the disease entirely. More importantly, Mg proudly continues in the spirit that Mark founded nearly 20 years ago: “Of the principles that we hold most dear, we consider customer service to be especially satisfying. Even to say it more clearly; sometimes when things don't go right (because sometimes they don't) we make an extra effort to see that the customer is taken care of. We are fanatical, intense, wound-tight, and high-strung on this point.”  This month's sponsor of HSDT is Anna Bradshaw Content Co. John Mason's musical journey began when he started playing drums at age 23, after buying his first drum kit from John Reynolds, he taught himself to play. John joined his first Adelaide band 'Jam Company' with his brother and brother in law in 1984, then in 1986 he joined 'Tall Hairy Cats' (THC), he filled in with the Barflys whenever they needed him, and was lucky enough to be part of a live VHS recording, done at the Front Page, which was run by Dino Jag at the time. He went on to play with 'Fineline' in 1989, followed by 'Dark Water' in 1992, and he then took a 20 year break from playing. John has recently returned to drumming and has taken up having drum lessons with Mark Meyer. Since his return to drumming he has played with 'Full Tilt Janis', 'Woodstock Revolution', and 'Fever'. John currently plays with Bad Press who are a 4 piece, alternative Rock/Blues band. Bad Press are performing during the Port Noarlunga Blues Festival, at the Keg and Barrel Steak House Bar & Grill, with special guest Taylor Brown at 3PM, Saturday the 27th of November. We are rewinding the Engine Room back to Episodes 6 to 10 to replay the last segment of the show 20 questions in 2 minutes. First up is E6 the Funny Funky Monks Australian Red Hot Chilli Peppers Drummer, Nick Romano who speaks that fast at times that I misheard one of his answers thinking that he had told me that he was his favorite RHCP drummer, it eventually clicked that he had said Chad Smith! Next up is E7 (part1) Mark Meyer, who ends up correcting me after I messed up asking one of his questions, thanks Mark, no wonder he's been in demand for so many years, he is certainly on the ball! Then it is the Boogie Man, E8 David Lloyd's turn, and I am pleased to say that we got through without any mishaps. Kyrie Anderson E9 is the next in line, and she really did seem to take the game on with determination to succeed, a trait that has resulted in her being an in demand drummer no doubt! And last, but certainly not least, it's the cool cat himself, E10 Jeff Algra's turn to play. I made sure that he had a few "feline" questions ready to get him laughing, which it certainly did! FYI Jess loves cat's so much that he posts a picture of one everyday on Facebook! I have added in a few sound effects again to add to the fun of the segments being strung together, and as nobody commented about not liking it last week I figured that it must be okay. I have a few more interviews coming up in a couple of weeks before I wrap up this series, but in the meantime, I hope that you enjoy hearing everyone from E6 to E10 play 20 questions in 2 minutes. If you have a suggestion for next season's theme please leave a voice message or send an email to banditabout17@gmail.com If there are any drummers that haven't been interviewed for this series and want to do one, please get in touch ASAP or you will miss out! I recently caught up with Mark after one of his gigs, we chatted about his first Engine Room interview (please listen to E7 first) and he stated that there was a lot that he did not touch on in that interview. I was delighted when Mark suggested that we arrange a time to record part 2. In this interview Mark reflects on the incredibly talent people that he has had the opportunity to get to know and work with throughout his career as a session musician in more detail. Mark chats about joining Stylus and the band being signed to Motown, working with Daddy Cool's guitarist Ross Hannaford, performing in Melbourne with Ross’s band Lucky Dog, and how that led to his fondest recording memory with Mark Gillespie on his “Only Human” and “Sweet Nothing” albums. He retouched on his time touring with Marcia Hines and recording and touring with Richard Clapton and Moving Pictures, and how one of his Sydney band Chasin’ The Train gigs ended up leading to Mark touring with the Divinyls in 1992. Other artists that Mark has recorded and or toured with mentioned in this interview are Jenny Morris, Wendy Mathews, Jon English, Lee Kernaghan, Elvis The Musical, The New Rocky Horror Show with Craig McLaughlin. Mark also talks about his interesting experience during the 9 weeks that he toured Australia with the Divinyls in 1992 and why he decided not to continue with that tour when they went to the USA. When Mark finished touring with the Divinyls he received a call from Garth Porter who asked him if he would be interested in recording on the young country artist Lee Kernaghan's debut album. Mark agreed to do the album “The Outback Club” and was given ½ a percent as part of the payment. The ARIA award winning debut album was a huge success reaching 2 x Platinum which meant that his ½ a percent earned Mark $20K! Mark continued to record and tour for a few years with Lee, and after the success of the first album, Mark became extremely popular within the Country Music scene recording somewhere in the vicinity of 250 albums with various country artists including Gina Jeffreys, Troy Cassar-Daley and James Blundell. Mark chose the following tracks for his interview, "Spellbound" Richard Clapton's "Best Years" album, & "Only Human" Mark Gillespie Links: mark gillespie only human full album Mark Gillespie “Sweet Nothing” album Lee Kernaghan - The 25th Anniversary Album Bang The Drum - Only You (1990) Mark Meyer Facebook Band It About Facebook Email: banditabout17@gmail.com Band It About website https://www.podpage.com/band-it-about-podcast-series/ iPhone please rate & comment via: https://ratethispodcast.com/banditabout Thanks for listening! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dianne-spillane/message

South Australian Music Hall of Famer 'Mark Meyer' joins me this week to chat about his amazing career. Mark is one of Australia's most recorded and toured drummers, who started his career gigging in Adelaide whilst in high school, eventually making the move to Melbourne where he joined 'Stylus' (who were the only Australian act to be released by Motown Records in the USA.) Mark's career really took off after 'Stylus' disbanded in 1979 when he was invited to join the Queen of Pop 'Marcia Hines' Band, the first gig with Marcia being the '2SM Concert of the Decade' which was the biggest outdoor music spectacle, boasting a Who's Who of Australian musical talent, held on the steps of the Sydney Opera House on November 4th, 1979. Mark has recorded in the vicinity of 400 albums both as a session drummer and as a band member of: Stylus, Marcia Hines, Richard Clapton, Moving Pictures, Jenny Morris, Divinyls, Mark Gillespie, Wendy Mathews, Dave Dobbyn, Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood just to name a few. He chats about recording at 'Sound City', Van Nuys and 'The Record Plant' LA for the original Footloose Movie Soundtrack, and about how the band did not receive any royalties whatsoever for the track "Never" due to the bankruptcy of their U.S. record company. Music: Intro 'Jenny Morris' "You I Know" written by 'Neil Finn". During the interview: 'Marcia Hines' "You", 'Dragon' "Celebration" written by 'Kool & the Gang', 'Moving Pictures' "Never" (Footloose soundtrack), 'The Party Boys' "I Fought The Law" written by 'Sonny Curtis', 'Chasin The Train' "Fever" written by 'Eddie Cooley' and 'Otis Blackwell', 'The Fallen Saints' "The Maker", and Outro 'Richard Clapton' "The Best Years of Our Lives." Each new year, Filene invites our members, credit union friends and system partners to join us for a little fun and a little discussion on what we see coming to the credit union industry in the year ahead--This is Filene360. In 2017, we went back in time to tell our story through interpretive retro gameshow reenactments. In part one of this two-parter podcast, CEO Mark Meyer gives a virtual hug to all the credit unions out there that have done amazing work over the past year. In this episode we explore the hot topics and most relevant issues for credit unions to focus on in the year ahead stated directly from several industry leaders. We also hear from Mark Meyer and a distant cousin called Mark Trebek. Be sure to listen to part 2 for more of the fun side of Filene360.
