The key to lasting love is more than just chemistry, it's really knowing how you (and your partner) handle conflict. It's communication, emotional intelligence and how you handle stress that builds a lasting connection and relationship  In Episode 394 of The Charisma Quotient, "Stop Dating the Wrong People: Decode Your Conflict Style with Dr. John Elliot,” Kimmy is joined by Dr. John Elliot, an acclaimed psychologist, conflict resolution expert, and co-author of "How to Get Along With Anyone." With a career spanning consulting for NASA, the US Olympic Committee, the Mayo Clinic, Fortune 500 companies, and appearances in outlets like The New York Times and ESPN, Dr. Elliot is uniquely equipped to reveal why true relationship success depends on how you both show up when the going gets tough—not just when it's smooth sailing. Together, Kimmy and Dr. Elliot break down the five conflict personality styles—the Avoider, Competitor, Analyzer, Collaborator, and Accommodator—explaining the habits, triggers, and communication patterns that come out when tension rises. You'll hear actionable advice on how to identify your own (and others') conflict styles, why some personality pairings struggle while others thrive, and how to turn moments of tension into lasting intimacy instead of drama or distance. They discuss why your "must-have list" should go beyond looks or job titles, and how picking up on someone's conflict style early can save you heartache down the road.  You'll hear: The “five conflict personality styles”—discover if you're an Avoider, Competitor, Analyzer, Collaborator, or Accommodator (and why it matters so much!)  How mismatched conflict styles sabotage romantic chemistry—and what style pairings work best for long-term happiness Real stories from pro sports, high-stakes business, and dating that illustrate these personality clashes and how they're resolved Simple, practical tools and mindset shifts to help you attract, connect with, and keep truly compatible partners If you've ever felt stuck repeating the same painful patterns, or want to break free from being an overgiver, people-pleaser, or the “nice guy,” book a FREE private breakthrough call with Kimmy:  https://meetme.so/kimbreakthrough⁣ Charisma Quotient Podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and many of your other favorite podcast channels. ************************************************⁣ Kimmy Seltzer is a Confidence Therapist and Authentic Dating Strategist implementing targeted style, emotional and social intelligence to your life. ⁣ ************************************************⁣ Would you like to connect with Kimmy?⁣ Website:  https://kimmyseltzer.com/⁣ Chat:  https://meetme.so/kimbreakthrough⁣ Instagram: @kimmyseltzer Twitter: @kimmyseltzer Join her FREE Facebook Group Love Makeover Insiders:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/lovemakeovers Take her Flirt Quiz to see what kind of flirt you are www.flirtover40.com

SEASON 3 EPISODE 111: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: The White Supremacist Trash Trump Administration thought it had gotten away with memory-holing Baseball immortal and Civil Rights immortal Jackie Robinson. They eliminated the Pentagon web page honoring Jackie's service during WWII and re-directed you to a URL reading "DEI SPORTS." They thought they had gotten away with it so much that a Pentagon spokesman named John Ullyot boasted loudly about eliminating the DEI Robinson represented (and the Navajo Code Talkers and that one Native American at Iwo Jima and the Tuskegee Airmen). And then when all hell broke loose, within 90 minutes they actually backed off and restored the page - and made it MORE racist, insisting that they would only honor Robinson as an ex-serviceman, not as a man who may have saved this country from becoming then, what Trump is trying to make it into now. And for all the reversals, one other company's website associated with Jackie Robinson DID scrub any references to "DEI" from its mission statement and has not responded to the Robinson blowback. The other company is of course... Major League Baseball. This is hardly the most important of the daily parade of Trump Atrocities. It may, however, may the most symbolic. B-Block (23:40) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: A podcaster insists what's happening to Tesla is "worse than January 6." Life comes at you fast: Friday, Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn introduced a bill to make "Trump Derangement Syndrome" an actual legal thing there. Monday he was being arrested for trying to pay a 17-year old for sex. And why did Jake Tapper drink another pitcher of Kool-Aid and call it "The Gulf of America"? Well there are some people who become their salaries, nothing more. C-Block (43:00) GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK:See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In 1952, John Elliot and his missionary friends embarked on a perilous journey to an Ecuadorain island to spread the gospel among the Houarani Indians. Tragically, they faced hostility and were killed by the tribesmen. This incident raises the question of why some Christians are willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the gospel while others remain lukewarm and indifferent. Understanding the gospel's significance is crucial here. Many Christians attend church without fully grasping the need to serve others. Based on Ephesians 2:1-10, we can comprehend our state before salvation and our new life in Christ. Accepting Jesus as our Savior compels us to serve Him and be carriers of His love because salvation is a gift of grace. This realization should motivate us to dedicate ourselves to Him and share His love with those around us.

In this episode I interview John about his Lego bricks methodology for breaking down jazz songs into their atomic parts. An idea he developed himself when trying to play more with other musicians. A FOR ANDROMEDA & THE ANDROMEDA BREAKTHROUGH. First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on October 1st 2023 This week, our resident researcher of some of the earliest examples of television science-fiction, MICHAEL HERBERT returns, this time to talk all about the seven-part 1961 BBC television serial A FOR ANDROMEDA, and its six-part sequel from the following year, THE ANDROMEDA BREAKTHROUGH. Mostly remembered as being a breakthrough role for JULIE CHRISTIE, and possibly as one of the stepping stones towards the creation of DOCTOR WHO in 1963, all but one episode of A FOR ANDROMEDA is lost, presumably forever, although the surviving episode, alongside episode reconstructions based upon surviving film clips and the telesnap archive mean that you can sort of get to watch the serial, albeit in a somewhat fragmented form. THE ANDROMEDA BREAKTHOUGH, however, survives in its entirety - although sadly for home viewers, in a long-deleted DVD set. Such are the quirks of the television industry of that time, however, it now featured SUSAN HAMPSHIRE in the role of Andromeda. Written by FRED HOYLE and JOHN ELLIOT, both serials feature a rare leading role for PETER HALLIDAY playing the hero JOHN FLEMING. HALLIDAY is an actor who listeners might know better for his roles in several DOCTOR WHO stories such as THE INVASION and CARNIVAL OF MONSTERS, but, as we discuss, that's not the only DOCTOR WHO connection that A FOR ANDROMEDA has. Incidentally, as well as all of his insights into A FOR ANDROMEDA, MICHAEL also has a brief update to share about his continuing work on his biography of MALCOLM HULKE that he shared in a previous edition of the show, so you've also got that to look forward to as we head back to the radio astronomic new frontiers of the early 1960s… PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

The OCM (Oncology Care Model), launched in 2016, is a payment model designed to help oncology centers transition from the traditional Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) payment structure and focus on high-value care. The EOM (Enhancing Oncology Model) is the next phase model and will replace OCM starting July 1, 2023. EOM will support clinicians caring for patients with seven common cancer types, focusing on health equity and accountable, affordable care. But what are the revenue-enhancing opportunities in EOM, is it worth the transition from OCM, and what does it actually provide? On today's episode of Technology and Oncology Podcast, host Michelle Dawn Mooney speaks with John Elliot, the Vice President of Sales at Carevīve to discuss how oncology centers and clinics can transition from OCM to EOM and how they can get assistance for the process.Michelle Dawn Mooney and John Elliot discussed:1. What clients should expect after approval and assistance available to meet the July 1 deadline for launching2. Benefits of EOM to oncology patients3. Where people can find more information and assistance on the topic“Looking at oncology, efficiency is key, however, there are limited constrained resources. 24/7 access to electronic records, having a line of communication, capturing symptoms at the right time, access to care with the focus of addressing challenges in the oncology and health care sector which can improve patient outcome and reduce cost – this is what the EOM aims to achieve. The EOM model bridges the gap of communication and ensures members of the care team are aware of what is happening in real-time, which promotes standardization of care,” explained John Elliot.John Elliot is the Vice President of Sales at Carevīve. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from Southern Methodist University and his Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis-Olin Business School. He has over ten years of experience working with oncology centers.

For anyone working in the oncology field, a highly anticipated change set to take place will be one of the biggest transitions in recent years. Last year, it was announced that the Oncology Care Model (OCM) will be phased out and succeeded with the Enhanced Oncology Model (EOM). This new model will go into effect in July 2023 and help improve care for cancer patients. What are the people who work in the oncology field most looking forward to with the forthcoming new model implementation? And what are their expectations for cancer care?In the latest episode of “Oncology and Technology,” host Tyler Kern sat down to interview with several members of the Carevive team, John Elliot, VP of Sales; Reesa Sherin, Clinical Strategist; and April Boyd, Clinical Product Manager, mostly about the state of the oncology, and what current trends will remain or seeing advancements next year.Kern, Elliot, Sherin, and Boyd also talked about … 1. Educational events held in preparation for the shift to EOM2. What clinicians will value in terms of the new models and how they expect to implement3. How the shift will change oncology and cancer patient care“The big shift, I think, just in healthcare broadly and then specifically to oncology, has been continued evaluation and how health systems and cancer centers are evaluating a shift to value-based care from the traditional … service,” said Elliot.John Elliot is the Vice President of Sales at Carevive. John Elliot has a story that simply has to be heard to be believed. If a movie studio pitched his story as an idea, it would be shot down as just too far-fetched to be real. But real it is. Having chosen to leave his hugely successful business at just age 35 to seek out an adventure, John, with absolutely no previous experience or training, purchased a handful of camels and began what was to become a solo 12,000 km journey that took him and his camels to every corner of the country. John endured pretty much every critical life-threatening moment you could imagine, and some you just couldn't. In his incredibly entertaining way, we hear about split-second survival decisions while having to outrun one of Australia's most devastating bushfires, falling off a mountain face with 1,000kg of camel falling right behind him, having to survive on roadkill, fighting off rouge wild camel attacks, losing all his camels while in a life-threatening blizzard and, when facing a fate worse than death, holding the 5 bullets he carried with him and needing to make the decision that there was just enough for each of his camels and then himself. This is not just a story just about getting out of your comfort zone, it's about smashing the crap out of anything that even slightly resembles one.

Show Notes: First human patients receive transfusions of lab-grown blood cells | New Atlas (01:01)  For the first time ever, human patients have received transfusions of blood cells that were grown from stem cells in a lab  Revolutionize blood transfusions Blood donations are life saving, but the demand outweighs the supply But only 13.6 million units of whole blood and red blood cells are collected in the U.S. in a year. According to the Red Cross, only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. Nearly 16 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S. Approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U. S.  An attractive alternative would be large-scale production of red blood cells in labs, which can be tuned to have whichever blood type is needed.  The new clinical trial, named RESTORE, is designed to test the safety of transfusions of these manufactured blood cells, as well as how long they last in the body. Lab-grown blood  is all made “fresh,” so it should all reliably last up to 120 days. For people with conditions that require regular blood transfusions, such as sickle cell, the longer lifespan of the cells should help give them longer gaps between transfusions.  The RESTORE trial will involve at least 10 participants receiving “mini” transfusions of blood, containing just 5 to 10 ml (one to two teaspoons) of red blood cells. So far, two participants have received transfusions of lab-grown blood cells as part of the trial, with the scientists reporting that they have shown no untoward side effects. While this is a major milestone towards that goal, there's still much more work to do before blood transfusions are regularly lab-grown This clear window coating could cool buildings without using energy | Electrek (06:41) Scientists have used advanced computing tech and AI to design a clear window coating that could lower the temperature inside buildings. Saving a whole lot of cooling energy. Cooling accounts for about 15% of global energy consumption, and it's only going to get hotter, especially in more tropical climates. The sun's ultraviolet and near-infrared light are the parts of the solar spectrum that pass through window glass to heat an enclosed room. Why a car gets hot sitting in the sun. If you block that light energy the amount of cooling needed would be reduced According to their new paper, researchers from University of Notre Dame in Indiana and Kyung Hee University in Seoul, successfully designed a clear window coating, or “transparent radiative cooler” (TRC). According to the report,  “[The team] optimized the type, order, and combination of layers using an iterative approach guided by machine learning and quantum computing, which stores data using subatomic particles” Using this quantum method allowed the team to carry out the optimization process faster. Which eventually, “produced a coating design that, when fabricated, beat the performance of conventionally designed TRCs in addition to one of the best commercial heat-reduction glasses on the market.” Through heat simulations of the TRC as a potential window material for a standard office with two windows they were able to figure out roughly the heat savings. 31.1% of the cooling energy consumption when conventional windows are used. The average annual energy saving over the surveyed U.S. cities is 50 MJ/m2 In cities with hot, dry weather the TRC can potentially save around 86.3 MJ/m2 per year. There's no indication of commercial scaling in the study, but the researchers write that the film “can be potentially scaled up for practical applications because their fabrication can be achieved using state-of-the-art deposition techniques.” Experimental breast cancer vaccine passes first human trials   | New Atlas (12:19) I don't like using the term vaccine for these types of treatments. It is more of cell/protein therapy so I'll put that out there before I get into this. Up to 30% of breast cancers involve the overproduction of a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2).  HER2-positive cancers are often more aggressive than other types of breast cancer These treatments deliver DNA blueprints for the production of certain proteins into the nucleus of a cell. The protein is then produced by the cell, triggering an immune response.  This treatment in question prompts cells to produce a specific fragment of the HER2 protein. Note another reason I don't call it a vaccine:  These are known as “therapeutic vaccines”, given to patients after they are diagnosed with a cancer in the hopes they help the immune system better seek and destroy certain tumors. The trial was not geared to evaluate how effective the experimental treatment is at treating breast cancer.  But still in the trial there were promising signs of efficacy, with 80% of the treated trial participants surviving the full 10-year follow-up Only around 50% of patients with advanced HER2 breast cancer would generally be expected to survive more than five year Looking into the survival rate: 95.8% of females survive breast cancer for at least one year, this falls to 85.0% surviving for five years or more, and continues to fall to roughly 75% for 10 years,  as shown by age-standardized net survival for patients diagnosed with breast cancer during 2013-2017 in England. A Phase 2 trial is currently underway, testing the treatment's efficacy in a larger cohort of HER2-positive patients. Scientists are working on an official 'alien contact protocol' for when ET phones Earth | Live Science (19:01) For the first time in 35 years, a team of policy experts and scientists have united to establish a set of alien-contact protocols for the entire world to follow in the event of a sudden encounter with E.T.  What better use of “policy experts” … unless they know something Currently, the only alien contact protocol that humans have was established by the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI) community in 1989. vague when it comes to the international response to extraterrestrial communication mainly focuses on the importance of sharing discoveries with the public and broader scientific community. The new SETI Detection Hub will scan signals for potential messages sent from alien lifeforms and will develop a framework for attaching meaning to those signals. End it with John Elliot, a computer scientist at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and coordinator of the SETI Detection Hub, talking on the preparedness effort: “Will we ever get a message from E.T.? We don't know. We also don't know when this is going to happen … But we do know that we cannot afford to be ill-prepared — scientifically, socially, and politically rudderless — for an event that could turn into reality as early as tomorrow." Open-source fish robot starts collecting microplastics from UK lakes | The Next Web (24:20) Microplastics in the water is a problem: A new study from Stanford University found that blue whales, the biggest creatures on Earth, ingest about 10 million pieces of microplastics per day. What could be the solution? Maybe a plastic eating robot fish? A robot fish that collects microplastics from waterways has been turned from an idea into a working prototype.  The design was brought to life after it won the University of Surrey's public competition, the Natural Robotics Contest. Competition was to submit an idea for a bio-inspired robot that could help the world. The robotics panelists and researchers, led by Dr. Robert Siddall, turned the design into a 3D-printed prototype about the size of a salmon. consists of a flooded head unit and a watertight tail unit. Set of gills on its sides and a fine mesh in between them that can sieve about two-millimeter particles Filters the water and keeps the microplastics inside its container as it swims. The robot fist has already been tested in the lab and local lakes  Going Forward, according to Siddall, the team is envisioning a range of improvements for the robot: Making It faster and smarter Operate autonomously, rather than being remote controlled.

His deep love for his family is reflected in his deep love for teaching and playing music. Here's how Jay describes himself. "I get to play the guitar all day, every day." Jay EuDalay began playing in bands at school functions, coffee houses and nightclubs in and around the Kansas City area in 1969. In 1977 Jay enrolled in the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. His degree program was Guitar Performance. He studied classical guitar for three years with well-known classical guitarist and Christopher Parkening protégé, Douglas Niedt. In 1979 Jay began studying privately with John Elliott, a legend among Kansas City jazz musicians. He studied with John for seven years, up to February of '86. All during this period Jay was playing full-time - locally in the Kansas City area as well as touring nationally as a sideman and with his own band. There's no way to summarize this appropriately. In Episode 8,  we'll be addressing Indigenous relations with the Canadian state from a variety of perspectives, grounded in history, and based on my education. We'll talk about whiteness, the media, and the Canadian State as factors in the perception of how one may view this topic. Then, we'll go over the 21 things of the book '21 Things you Might Not Know About the Indian Act' by Bob Joseph, with comments on my interpretations of specific socioeconomic issues and political tensions related to the points raised. We'll touch on two methods of governance reform avenues available for Indigenous communities that work with the Canadian Federal State, what that means,  and finally, address how one is possibly expected to face the reality of where the future can go. Which is- spoiler alert- anywhere.  Is this a heavy topic? Yes. This is not light. Is it filled with heavy language? Yes. But did I do my best to explain it clearly, which is why it took an hour and 7 minutes? also yes. People who are alive today lived through the application of this legislation. I have sat across from John Elliot, in the pouring rain on ancestral land, which is now public parkland. I have heard history directly from the source that has been so desperately attempted to be buried. Please listen to this, and if you feel so inspired, go and hear from them directly too. This conversation with people who look like me is so necessary and so overdue.  HISKWE to Marcia Turner,  John Elliot, and Nick Claxton specifically for educating me and giving me the foundation to even begin to discuss this topic. And, thank you to Marie Clements for being my window into this community. She is such a creative and wonderful woman and has inspired so much curiosity for me. * I misspoke when I said over 14,000 Indigenous children have been found to date at residential schools. Over 14,000 is the total estimation based on current trends from 'schools' that have been searched. 1,802 children have been recovered as of Sept. 16th, 2021 from 8 of the 139 total 'schools'.

Escuchar audio

In this episode, we are joined by South of Lincoln AKA Max Holmquist. We talk about his experience as a singer/songwriter hailing from a small town in Nebraska, and get a couple of great in studio performances. The cicadas even chime in... South of Lincoln is the stage name for Maxwell Beardsley H. and his one man folk show. The calm, boring life of a small Midwestern town drove him to pick up a guitar at the age of 15. Four years later, South of Lincoln started in 2006 as Max Holmquist’s solo project. Starting with a post-punk/emo sound in the vein as Dashboard Confessionals, etc. somewhere along the line his style shifted with his musical tastes. With the introduction of Alt/Folk from people like Damien Jurado, Neko Case, M. Ward, Andrew Bird, Rocky Votolato, etc., South of Lincoln made the shift towards Folksy storytelling. This episode I have John Elliot in for an interview and in studio performance. I fell in love with his stuff after he sent me a couple mp3s. His performance at Mick's was incredible and if you get the chance, GO SEE HIM. Here is some info on him and his band the Hereafter:the hereafter is the music project of singer/songwriter john elliott. it has been called "post-seinfeld, post-9/11 eyebrow rock" and john's songwriting has garnered comparisons to paul simon (among others) in the press. john grew up in minnesota listening mostly to michael jackson, guns n' roses and bon jovi (later, bruce springsteen and bob dylan). he started to play guitar when he was ten, taught himself to play the piano and sang in various choirs. john is now perpetually on the road and in his honda civic, writing songs and playing shows. as a result of television and internet exposure (and lots of touring), the hereafter has developed a scattered (and growing) international following. anyone and everyone who plays at a show or on a recording is a member of the hereafter. the current core is bryan dobbs on bass and various instruments and mike schadel on drums. additional members include, but are not limited to: andy featherston, evan endicott, ryan zwahlen, eli bolin, raina rose, kristen eppley, deemo, pickles, stinky john, dykel, carter dewberry, sick, kenny cline, lee overtree, drew callander, gautham prasad (mime) and jay johnson."The Hereafter" THINGS: "eulogy" (track fourteen) appeared during the season three finale of "grey's anatomy" playing softly toward the end. “the end” (track twelve) was featured on NPR’S “all songs considered open mic series." national public radio is mellow and good. check out a thing about it HERE. a demo of “back where i was” (track four) appeared in its entireity during the climactic scene of an emmy-nominated episode in the second season of “grey’s anatomy" ("she's my wife..."). "musical chairs" (track nine) is the first track on a compilation CD released by trabant lounge in seattle! hey, they were voted #1 best coffee in seattle.Music:"Feelings Without Weight" by Chris TrapperLinks:Chris Trapper on MySpaceJohn Elliot / The Hereafter
