“My family had a farm in North Dakota,” says Michelle Korsmo, CEO of the National Restaurant Association. “I was raised knowing that helping each other was the best way to help ourselves and that together people really can make a difference.” Korsmo gained early restaurant experience working at TGI Fridays before becoming a state government lobbyist. From there she transitioned to CEO positions with the American Land and Title Association, the National Wine and Spirits Association, and eventually the National Restaurant Association. Korsmo discusses her responsibilities as CEO which go beyond member representation and lobbying. “Watching the growth of education among students is particularly satisfying,” says Korsmo, adding, “The food safety, culinary skills and management development provided through our Pro Start program is successfully training our future leaders." According to Korsmo, the association's acquisition of RestaurantOwner.com increased its engagement with independent restaurant owners and operators via education and support. “I believe it is the absolute best collection of information and education for the hands-on restaurant owner available on the web today.” As for the future of the restaurant industry, Korsmo envisions employment and sales growth, increased competition, and additional use of technology. “The National Restaurant Association will continue to use its efforts to best represent our interests while supporting the membership with the rapidly evolving industry we are a part of."

Had a nice story about a missing chihuahua that was living on the streets of Las Vegas for NINE years before being caught & reunited with it's original owner. Sadly, the NBA decided to go with Disney, NBC, & Amazon Prime rather than stick with Warner Bros. Discovery…so no more "NBA on TNT" after next season. Esquire magazine recently put out a list of the "Top 50 Songs of the 90's" and we debated that this morning. A couple of wild stories from the Olympics…one involving the Canadian Women's Soccer team…and the other involving a dressage rider who whipped a horse. During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a Tesla that got damaged by a fish that fell from the sky, a convenience store clerk that stole a $1 million winning scratch-off ticket, a couple of idiots in Kentucky who got busted after posting about their drug operation on TikTok, and a former administrative assistant at a church in Alabama that got caught embezzling over $300,000 to buy gifts for TikTokers. Welcome to July 25th, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate a dynamic duo and the ride that proves what comes around goes around.  According to Greek Mythology, Aristaeus was the god of olive-growing, bee-keeping, and…most importantly…cheese-making. To add to his repertoire, he asked his uncle to teach him how to make beer and wine. And as far as teachers go, Aristaeus couldn't ask for a better one. Because his uncle, Dionysus was also the god of wine. We can't be sure, but this was likely the beginning of one of history's greatest pairings: Wine and cheese. Whether it's port and gorgonzola or chardonnay and cheddar, these two things were made for one another. On National Wine And Cheese Day, enjoy a delicious pair courtesy of the Olympians. No amusement park would be complete without a classic roller coaster or merry-go-round. But the oldest of these rides was first depicted in 500 AD during the Byzantine Empire. Baskets that carried a rider were suspended from a central pole and whirled around in a circle. The more modern carousel was inspired by the sport of jousting, but not the dangerous medieval kind. Apparently in the 12th century knights made a game of riding in a circle and tossing a glass ball filled with perfume at one another. This required great skill and horsemanship to avoid dropping the ball, which would prove a shameful and smelly defeat.
