Today on One Life Radio, we had Chris Gronkowski on the air to start off with a little football and dive right into his 2023 highlights along with his goals for 2024. Chris Gronkowski is the owner and inventor of the Ice Shaker, vacuum insulated bottles that hold ice for over 30 hours. In 2017, Chris and his brothers successfully pitched Ice Shaker on Shark Tank, ultimately partnering with Mark Cuban who helped grow the brand nationally. Before founding Ice Shaker, Chris played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, and Denver Broncos. Next up, we welcomed Dr. Philip William Gold to dive into his latest book “Breaking Through Depression“ and answers our questions on depressive disorders. Dr. Gold is one of the world's leading researchers of depressive illness. For over three decades he has worked at the National Institutes of Health, where he has served as Chief of Neuroendocrine Research and Senior Investigator in the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research Program, and Chief of the Section on Neuroendocrinology. In his recent book, Breaking Through Depression: A Guide to the Next Generation of Promising Research and Revolutionary New Treatments, he draws upon his long-term research to delve into the interplay between our anatomy and our lived experiences as the key to understanding why there are such individual differences in how we make connections with others, deal with adversity, or recover from trauma. In his role at the NIH, Dr. Gold has studied the neurobiology of depression for decades and led a laboratory of over 30 individuals trained in neuroscience, molecular biology, endocrinology, neurology and psychiatry. He has written over 400 scientific articles that have been cited by over 65,000 publications including 16 in The New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Gold has served as a member of the Library of Congress Council of Scholars, participated in the MacArthur Foundation Medical Network, received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Athens School of Medicine, and was chosen as a Distinguished Alumnus of the Duke University School of Medicine. He also received The American Psychiatric Association highest honor, The Foundation Fund Prize for Research, and has delivered honorary lectures at Harvard University and the Japan Foundation. Delighted to be joined by Chris Mooney from CM learning. Chris is a mindset, resilience and wellbeing coach and facilitator who helps people switch from auto-pilot to manual. In his own words:We all have an internal auto-pilot quietly working away in the background. This is fine for the routine and mundane tasks that we all need to get done, but just like we wouldn't want our pilot to take off or land our plane in auto-pilot, staying in it for too long can be damaging. We over-rely on unhealthy coping mechanisms, repeating damaging cycles of thinking and behaviour, and let our negative thinking play havoc both in our personal and professional lives. Switching to manual is a choice, but an important one in today's world, and one that can lead to more confidence, stronger relationships and living a happier life, at home and at work.Listen to our lively conversation about the brain, retraining, coping with life and whether or not you should make a resolution in January! Funky Marketing is a podcast in which we're talking with entrepreneurs, marketers, advertisers, designers, artists, and all those people that are doing a good job for good people. It is organized by Funky Marketing. Your host is Nemanja Zivkovic, CEO, and Founder of Funky Marketing. This episode is a part of the Funky Marketing Top Vices awards, and MJ Peters is one of those voices. MJ is a VP Marketing at Firetrace, challenging industrial companies to think differently about marketing. She's interested in shaking up the way we do things on an industrial scale. She told the board of one company to develop a fire detector for dog owners. One year later, she pitched an audience of 60 senior execs on an IoT sensor for live fish transport. The first thing got her laughed out of the room. The second one won her team 1st place and $150k in funding. She learned from both experiences, so she wouldn't change a thing. It turns out that the fish project was ROI positive in under 5 months. That success was enough to propel her into her first leadership role, heading up marketing for Firetrace. As the company's first ever VP of Marketing, she changed how the organization defines marketing - from the brochure department to a strategic driver for the business. Today, they use market insights to set demand generation, sales, and product strategy. Her approach to leadership is simple - she tries to do all the things that she used to wish managers would do for her. She combines that with a player/coach mentality and an insatiable drive to produce results. She can honestly tell you that what she is most proud of in her career so far is her positive impact on some of the talented people that have worked for her. She's also a co-host of The Industrial Marketing Show with Matthew Sciannella. We talked about a variety of topics, such as: Leading Group of Kids vs. Leading Marketing Job Benefits of Modern vs. Traditional Marketing Leadership Lessons: Having Right People in the Right Seats How to Generate Demand for the Specific Niche? Bad Marketing Equals to Offering Quick Results Effective Marketing Strategy — Innovators and Implementers How to Influence Decision Makers? Wether or not you're someone who loves a list or even a set of goals, New Years Resolutions seem to have a pull with everyone! In this episode we have a look at some biblical goals that Paul describes in his letter to the Philippians (in chapter 3). Paul's goals got us thinking about how easy it is for us to focus our attention, our giftings, our money - on WORLDLY goals... after all, that's what everyone else is doing, right? Paul's words in this letter are a real rebuke and challenge to modern day worldly thinking and a challenge to where our citizenship, as Christian women, really is: here or in heaven. Perfect timing as we begin a whole new year...What does the Bible say about goals? READ Philippians 3 Diagnostic: what does my life actually say about my goals? How does they way you spend your time, your talents (your gifts) and treasure (your $$) communicate about what your goals are in life? How to bring my NY goals in-line with Gospel goals…Bible reading plan: what's your plan for your Bible reading this year? Bible in a year? Whole of the Old Testament? Whole of the NT? What's your prayer plan? Who is your Bible reading encourager and accountability partner going to be? Who are you going to meet up with to read the Bible this year?Who am I going to commit to praying for this year? Maybe a couple of non-Christians?What are you going to put your name down for, for serving in your Church? How are you going to support the Spread of the Kingdom financially this year?
