RHLSTP #612 - A Special Place in Hell - Rich has an apology to make regarding bird genitals. His guest is RHLSTP favourite David Mitchell. There's lots of rarely if ever asked emergency questions and chat about John Kearns' eight stone rabbit, a joke about Ludwig that one listener will enjoy, returning to sketch shows and whether this might see the return of another nineties double act, what it's like to work on Rick and Morty (if you don't know anything about it), the easiest audiobook job of all time, some chat about what the Hell Satan is up to and a new take on It's a Knockout. It's a delight as you can imagine, but which person would Richard bring back from the dead? If you can think of it then you're as bad as him.SUPPORT THE SHOW!See details of the RHLSTP LIVE DATES Watch our TWITCH CHANNELBecome a badger and see extra content at our WEBSITE Buy DVDs and books from GO FASTER STRIPEAudio mix by Ben Evans (NTO)Thanks to Chris Evans (NTO) and Ben WalkerRecorded at the Leicester Square Theatre Hosted on Acast. Outspoken and controversial writer-producer Dan Harmon went from performing improv in his hometown of Milwaukee to creating hit television shows like “Community” and Adult Swim's “Rick and Morty.” Dan joined Gilbert and Frank for a candid and revealing conversation about the perils of celebrity, how his various neuroses fuel his creativity and why he chose to launch his own podcast (the popular “Harmontown”) instead of going to therapy. Also: Dan pays “homage” to Bill Cosby, gets canned by Sarah Silverman, creates the cult show “Heat Vision and Jack” and locks horns with comedy hero-turned-antagonist Chevy Chase. PLUS: “Manimal”! “Misfits of Science”! “The Streisand Effect”! Gilbert hangs with Charlie Sheen! And Dan receives a VERY special delivery! Learn more about your ad choices. Dave is joined by Darryl on this week's Geektown Radio as they chat through the latest TV, film and gaming news, along with the shows and games they've been watching recently.Darryl kicks things off with a look at ‘High Potential' Season 2, the crime procedural starring Kaitlin Olson, which continues to deliver those fun “clever outsider helps the police” vibes. In this Hot Topic episode of The Neurodivergent Experience, Jordan James and Simon Scott react to major BAFTA wins for I Swear — including Robert Aramayo taking home Best Actor and the EE Rising Star Award. After previously calling it a “travesty” that Aramayo wasn't Oscar-nominated, Jordan reflects on why this win feels so significant — not just for the actor, but for neurodivergent representation in film. They unpack why I Swear works: it doesn't reduce Tourette's to a stereotype, it tells the story of one human being. The film focuses on John Davidson's life, not just his diagnosis — showing difference without pity, and representation without forcing a message. The conversation expands into a wider discussion about authentic storytelling vs performative diversity, why some representation feels natural while others feel manufactured, and how shows like Malcolm in the Middle, The Simpsons, Stranger Things, Bob's Burgers, and Rick and Morty have portrayed neurodivergent-coded characters for decades without making diagnosis the sole narrative.Note: This episode was recorded before wider discussion emerged regarding a moment during the BAFTA ceremony involving an involuntary vocal tic from John Davidson. We recognise the complexity and sensitivity of the situation. Our discussion here focuses specifically on the significance of authentic neurodivergent representation in film. This episode discusses:Robert Aramayo's BAFTA winWhy I Swear resonates so deeplyAuthentic vs forced representationTourette's, autism, ADHD and coded charactersThe legacy of Rain Man and stereotypesWhy storytelling should centre the person, not the conditionHow powerful representation builds confidenceNeurodivergent “goggles” and seeing ND traits everywhereWhy natural inclusion works better than box-tickingA passionate, funny, and thoughtful reaction episode about film, advocacy, and why authentic representation matters more than ever. Our Sponsors:

Edward Saatchi has been building at the frontier of AI storytelling for a decade—from Oculus Story Studios to Fable (where his AI character Lucy made her own films at Sundance) to his current venture, Amazon-backed Showrunner. His thesis is provocative: AI-generated content is stuck in a four-year rut of short-form experiments with no commercial marketplace, no monetization path, and no artistic value. Creators are working solo, making 10-second clips that can't compete with Rick and Morty or Netflix originals. The solution? Band together, make features and TV shows, and build platforms where creators get paid every time someone remixes their work.Edward's most audacious project proves the point: reconstructing Orson Welles' lost masterpiece, The Magnificent Ambersons (44 minutes destroyed by studio cuts in 1942), using motion-capture actors and AI to seamlessly restore what was erased. The irony is intentional—it's a film about technology destroying beauty, restored by technology. Edward's approach isn't text-to-video slop. It's human performance driving AI synthesis: hire stage actors, capture their performances, use the original cutting continuity as a blueprint, and let AI fill the gaps. The result is cinema-quality work that would cost $100 million traditionally but costs $10 million with AI assistance. In AI XR News This Week: Amazon announces 16,000 layoffs (mostly middle management) while ramping robotics—replacing humans with machines in warehouses. It's remix, interactivity, and personalization at scale—letting audiences co-create with AI while creators get paid. His challenge to the industry: hold yourself to "derivative but better" (can you make a better Simpsons episode than the last 15 seasons?) or "original and good" (something from a non-human intelligence's perspective). Until creators band together to make features and TV shows with commercial value, AI video will remain stuck in the trough of disillusionment. This episode is brought to you by Zappar, creators of Mattercraft—the leading visual development environment for building immersive 3D web experiences for mobile headsets and desktop.
