Meet Sean Lane:Sean Lane is the CEO of Olive and CEO of Circulo Health. Previously, he was an Intelligence Officer for the National Security Agency. He was also founder and Chairman of the Board for Betamore, and Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Digital Harbor Foundation. Sean received a Bachelor's in Political Science and Government from Miami University. Key Insights:Sean Lane is freeing up healthcare's scarcest resource: time. The Inspiration for Olive. Sean was trying to address prescription drug abuse challenges in his community when he realized that healthcare doesn't have the internet. Healthcare systems and software don't communicate, rather healthcare relies on humans as routers to complete repetitive tasks and manually share data. (7:46)What Olive Can Do. Using artificial Intelligence, Olive automates repetitive healthcare tasks to free up human capacity. It started with revenue cycle, but expanded into areas of administration and operation. (15:05)Challenges. To Sean, Olive's biggest challenge is scale. There are billions of hours of human capacity wasted on repetitive tasks that could be automated. In order to have an impact on the industry, Olive needs to get big enough to matter. (16:26)This episode is hosted by Gary Bisbee, Ph.D. He is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Think Medium. Olive is an automation company for healthcare. Olive herself is a virtual assistant that can learn to automate various administrative and operational tasks using artificial intelligence and deep learning. (10:58)Leadership Philosophy. Sean sums up his leadership methodology with the phrase “Love to lead.” Love is an acronym: “L” for leadership, because everything is a leadership problem; “O” for otherhood, to always think about others; “V” for vision, making vision a reality; and “E” for expectations, setting them clearly to avoid confusion and frustration. (22:29)Start Early. Sean became interested in leadership through the manuals and books his father brought home. Sean points out that now we have the internet! In this episode, Rachael is joined by Sean Lane, VP of Field Operations at Drift, a conversational marketing platform that combines chat, email, video, and automation to remove the friction from business buying. Sean started his career in customer success and later led a sales development team. It was there that he learned how important operations were to all the GTM teams' success. Sean is also the host of the podcast “Operations with Sean Lane,” where he goes under the hood of how hyper-growth companies operate and gives operational tactics needed to scale growth and drive results at your company. Sean shares how operations can play an instrumental role in designing and ensuring a great customer experience.
It's 2022 and we know that Operations is a critical part of your organization that works cross-functionally to support revenue, marketing, and sales teams. We also know that ops can no longer be a team of one for growing companies. So how can we be sure that we are creating a foundation to grow and support these dynamic operations roles? In this week's episode, we're joined by the Vice President of Field Operations at Drift and host of the https://operationspodcast.drift.com/public/13/Operations-43678 (Operations Podcast), Sean Lane, who takes us through everything from planning, structuring, and operationalizing an operations team. Move fast, and fix things. That should be the unofficial mantra of Olive. With nearly $1 billion dollars in funding, they are a dynamo in health tech. In this episode of The Redox Podcast, Olive's founder and CEO, Sean Lane, takes us on a ride from the visit to his hometown that sparked his hunger for healthcare innovation to the one idea that changed everything. Olive has a big vision for RPA in healthcare, and they plan to get there…fast.
Sean Lane began his career as an intelligence officer in the Air Force, spending most of his government service at the NSA solving challenges as a software engineer and technology leader. After serving the U.S. military, Sean started his career as a healthcare entrepreneur, drawn in by the prescription drug abuse problem that engulfed his hometown. After founding several startups — ranging from big data and advanced analytics to entity resolution — Sean founded health tech AI startup Olive in 2012. Almost a decade later, Olive has raised a total of $902 million (including a $400 million round this summer led by Vista Equity Partners), and their enterprise AI is in more than 900 hospitals in over 40 U.S. states.Sean joined us for a conversation moderated by VillageMD Chief Technology Officer Mike Roberts to discuss his pivot from government service to entrepreneurship, what's coming up next for Olive and advice for entrepreneurs.

Sean Lane, CEO of healthcare software company Olive, discusses how the company uses artificial intelligence to automate repetitive processes for hospital systems. The technology has been deployed in more than 600 hospitals across the country. This episode is a rerun and was initially published in November.
Today on Health in 2 Point 00, I air some of my grudges as we get into our deals for the day. In the third extension of their Series C, Medable gets another $78 million bringing their total to $217 million. Olive acquires Empiric Health, expanding into surgical data analytics – where does this fit in with Sean Lane's five-point strategic plan? Finally, Papa gets a $60 million raise and Anthem, Blackstone and K Health launch a joint venture.
Is there a non-EMR centric approach to designing and building a Unicorn in Health IT? Sean Lane with Olive would like to find out. This has been the premise of the Olive leadership for a while. Well, now they've raised 50 million to find out if it will work. There isn't much information out there on Circulo the startup that will live on Olives tech, share a CEO and have as its mission to change the way payers, providers, patients and taxpayers experience Medicaid. It's a greenfield approach built on automation, intelligence and technology connection to eliminate waste, reduce denials and provide near instant payments to providers. The goals are modest for this year but the ambition is big for the future. I'm gong to keep an eye on this one. I love the concept, believe in the way it is being brought together and can see how the connectedness between payer / provider / and patient can lead to great benefits for all involved in this model. What are your thoughts?#healthcare #cio #cmio #himss #chime #healthIT

Olive is a healthcare bot who’s been built not just to work with humans, but to seem like one. So what happens to real human workers as “she” keeps getting smarter? Olive CEO Sean Lane says humans will always be in charge - but jobs are going to change. “Once you understand what it can do, and once you see Olive working and really realize the potential, your mind immediately goes to the inevitability that Olive will be doing a lot of the work that your humans are doing today. It really takes a reframing of how we think about work in general.” Get email updates about new episodes.

Today’s guest is Sean Lane, CEO of CrossChx, and we have a great chat about artificial intelligence. Email: sean.lane@crosschx.com CrossChx: https://crosschx.com/ In the News President Trump met with Juan Manuel the President of Columbia yesterday and held a joint news conference. The President emphasized counter drug trafficking in partnership with Columbia. Other key points include the President’s claims that illegal border crossings in the U.S. are down 73%, he wants the U.S. to work with South American countries on the Venezuelan problem, and also promised that MS-13 gang members will be gone from the U.S. soon. President Trump also took to Twitter today as he tweeted, “this is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!” and “with all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special counsel!” The tweets were in response to Wednesday’s news that the Department of Justice appointment former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election. Following a closed door Senate session in which Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appeared, reporters sought reaction and comment to President Trump’s displeasure with the appointment of special counsel. After the same Senate session, Senator Dick Durbin was asked about Rosenstein’s explanation regarding why he appointed a special counsel to look into Russian allegations. In International News Coalition forces struck Syrian pro-regime forces on Thursday in a a de-confliction zone near At Tanf. The Syrian government backed forces posed a threat to U.S. partner forces and ignored warnings to turn around their convoy. Some of the warnings include an aircraft show of force and warning shots. Russian attempts to dissuade pro-regime movements toward At Tanf were also ignored. For all the background information regarding events leading up to the current conflict in Syria, be sure to listen to our shows from May 8th and 9th where we chat with Islamic Professor of History Brian Glyn Williams. U.S. Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Elaine Duke met with EU officials in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss, “serious evolving threats to aviation security and approaches to confronting such threats.” Specifically, there was talk of expanding the laptop ban in carry on baggage to flights coming from Europe. Airline trade groups urged alternative security measures instead. The U.S. government has imposed sanctions on the chief and justices of the Venezuelan supreme court in retaliation for the court seizing powers from the opposition led congress earlier in the year. The justices will have any U.S. assets frozen and are barred from traveling to the U.S. Several protests have occurred in Venezuela in the last several weeks that have led to over 40 deaths. Protests are in opposition to Venezuela’s ruling president consolidation of power and the severe poverty that the country is experiencing. In Tech News The FCC voted 2 to 1 today in favor of rolling back net neutrality regulations put in place by President Obama’s administration. A Democratic FCC commissioner explained that the vote jeopardizes the ability of the open internet to function tomorrow as it does today while Republican commissioners argue that regulating the internet as if it was a utility has reduced companies investment into broadband infrastructure. The FCC will keep the issue open for public comment until a final vote is taken at a later date. A side note as we comment on the dysfunction of the news media. Several media outlets are reporting that the FCC have already received over a million comments regarding the net neutrality issue recently. However, those outlets fail to mention that most comments were bots associated with a cyber attack meant to bring down the FCC’s website and not actual people commenting on the potential repeal of regulation. Regardless of where you stand on the net neutrality rules, don’t be misled by fake news. Google revealed a new processor this week at Google I/O. The processor is designed to train and execute machine learning systems that help with everything from speech recognition to robotics. The processor will not be sold, but will be available in Google's data centers so that users can access them in the cloud as they seek to develop artificial intelligence platforms.
