Last one of series three today and this week I'm chatting with Murkage Dave. Dave's a musician from East London. I first met Dave when he was putting on dances in Manchester in the early 2000s just before his beard became fully majestic. He's a total legend of a bloke and if you can go and see him do a live show, then you'll be in for an absolute treat. He's always looked a million dollars and I'm excited to hear how clothes have reflected and informed his career to date. A big and heartfelt thanks to you lot for the love and support on MOG series 3. It's a slog but I totally love doing it. Keep on telling your cool mates about My Own Garms and if you're short of something to watch or listen to, go back to the first two series and give them a spin, there's some bangers in the back catalog. Sound, let's get into this one then. I start the show off in a true NY fashion, with classic winter anthems from out Brooklyn native. FOREIGNER - FABOLOUS GUESS WHOS BIZACK - FABOLOUS BALL DROP - FABOLOUS FT FRENCH MONTANA (00:00-05:44) On today's episode I talk about my christmas experience from being with family and the gifts i received. I then ask y'all about y'all resolutions for the new year and if we're actually being consistent this year along with the lessons that 2023 taught us. From there we get into a classic debate that no one asked for which is do you think Shottas is better than Belly. i know i know doesn't even complete. Also i discuss about these out of towners making demands for ock, you gotta talk to the manage Senor Cateo. (05:45-51:50) i than jump into The Cool Report for one last time for the year. I go in on a vigilante that felt she was in the right to take a man's life for no better reason than either that she was bored. Her name is Hannah Payne and is now serving a life sentence for her actions. (51:51-01:01:21) We then step into a new segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself. They get a bit personal in this one from asking me about my guy crush, new segment ideas, asking if I'm passing down my genetics (weird) and one get highly disrespectful asking of i know mathematics like i was not top of my class. (01:01:22-01:22:09) Then we have 2 fans ask me questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. Like trying not to shatter your girls confidence when it comes to these New Years Resolution. Along with supporting your girls new profession after she gave up on her onlyfans. Besides financially how much moral support can one give. (01:22:10-01:38:14) i than enter another new segment consideration, it still needs modifications but this is the growing pains of trying new things. i come up with an idea of an original movie masterpiece called "EGGFACE" tell me what you think. (01:38:15-01:50:37) THE FIN I say my goodbyes with y'all to 2023, and give hope for the new year for big changes in our lives and close the show out the voice of an angel. Platforming untold stories of Black queer lives, Team Angelica/The Art Machine are excited to be launching their fresh new audio drama Scooters, Shooters and Shottas: a Curious Tale. Set on a rough council estate in South London, it follows the rowdy antics of Black queer outsiders Kola, Ranksy and Bunni Boi, who dream of breaking big as grime artists. The drama explores violence, masculinity and homophobia, the struggle to pursue creative endeavours, and the socio-economic challenges faced by the Black queer community in London. In a Sex Education meets Top Boy style, it gives a voice to the underrepresented, and fosters discussions about issues faced by the Black LGBTQ+ community. Scooters, Shooters and Shottas: a Curious Tale is a Team Angelica/The Art Machine co-production.

On this episode of the Entertainment Report Podcast we got a chance to sit down with the Original Jamaican Don Dada LOUIE RANKIN aka OX aka TEDDY BRUKSHUT. This podcast was recorded on Friday September 20, 2019, a few days before his untimely death on Monday September 30, 2019 due to a car crash. On this podcast Louie Rankin takes us on a ride just as wild as his life. He spoke about his favourite scenes in both Belly and Shottas, how he got started in the music business and living in Canada, USA and Jamaica. Louie Rankin also went in to depth about his family life, recording a new album, winning a Grammy for his hit 'Typewriter' and so much more. Lazer discusses his latest lack of success in phone interviews and a new light in the dark.
Following the status quo is not always the best way. This proved true with what the crew discussed this week. A new study published in the International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education found that the average size for American women grew from a 12-14 in 2018, to a range of 16-18. But it's not just women that are growing in size. The study reporting that ALL Americans are growing, and that the average American (male or female) is 50+ LBS overweight. The status quo for 'The Original Don Dada' was that of a gangster and overall drug lord. I'm sadden to report that Belly actor Louis Rankin has reportedly passed away in a fatal car accident. The crash involved a transport truck and another vehicle, but the police have released no other information about the incident. As well as his role in the movie Belly, he also starred in the Jamacian hit move, "Shottas." He's reported to have been well received and loved by his community and family - R.I.P. This next story definitely broke the status quo mold! Rapper 'Too Short' becomes a father for the first at 53. His daughter, Yanni Shaw, was actually born back in December, but Too Short leaked the news of her birth this week. Too Short is credited as being one of the pioneer rappers of West Coast hip hop. Congrats to PIMP # 1! Status Quo of the 'alt-right' Republican Stacey Dash just caught a dub. The Clueless actress and proud shuffle footing woman of color was arrested for domestic violence. Reportedly she put hands on her husband (this is her fourth marriage), and the cops arrested her after noticing scratches on his arm. Dash was held on $500 bail, and reportedly kept for 24 hours to "coo off." FINALLY, Rapper Gucci Mane partners with "Gucci." Just a day removed after announcing his fifteenth studio album in Woptober 2, the fashionable rap star has revealed that the presented cover art stems from the Gucci Cruise campaign. In May 2019, Snoop Dogg inquired about the purported ban and the legendary Dapper Dan actually sat down with Gucci and now, Radric Davis is getting paid to rep the Italian fabrics. I'm glad to see this relationship finally happen. For, "The Illastr8 HOT Take", the crew talked about 'some signs that your new boo may not be over their ex?" This was a 'spicy' one! You MUST check this one out, lol! Keep it RIGHT HERE...we got you!
We're going around the world with our next episode. We chat with Adrian Davidson about the 1999 classic "Shottas". Adrian tells us about his days growing up in Brazil. And Oni and AJ teach us how the Caribbean culture was heavily influenced in this film along with other interesting lessons about Caribbean culture. Carlton Errington Grant (born 30 May 1969), better known as Spragga Benz, is a Jamaican dancehall deejay. He began his career around 1991. Once known to his friends as "Spaghetti" (tall and slim), but this was later shortened to Spragga. The Benz in his name comes from the sound system for which he used to work for, L.A. Benz, and it is through this that he found his way into the music industry at a Dubplate recording session with Buju Banton. The famed elder DJ was slated to do four tracks for L.A. Benz but only voiced two and suggested that Spragga do the other two. Since he was new to recording, he freestyled a couple of lines of what would then become, "Love Mi Gun", a popular tune.He soon became an in-demand performer for numerous producers, including Bobby Digital, and hits followed with "Could a Deal" (produced by Winston Riley) and "Girls Hooray" (Steely & Clevie). A series of well-received singles followed, many included on his debut album, Jack It Up (1994). This success led to a deal with Capitol Records, who issued his second album, Uncommonly Smooth, in 1995, featuring duets with Chevelle Franklyn ("A-1 Lover") and "Spanish Harlem" (with Ben E. King). The album didn't sell well enough for Capitol, who dropped him, after which he spent a few years releasing further singles in Jamaica, also collaborating with the likes of Wyclef Jean and KRS-One. In 1999, he recorded a 'clash' album with Beenie Man, Two Badd DJs, and had a number one Jamaican hit single with "She Nuh Ready Yet (Hype Up)", which was also included on his third album, Fully Loaded (2000). This album featured duets with Lady Saw (on "Backshot") and Foxy Brown (on "Too Stoosh"), and was co-produced by house music legend Todd Terry. In the same year, Benz made his film acting debut in Brooklyn Babylon, and the following year played a leading role in the gangster film Shottas.[1] 2002 saw the release of his fourth album, Thug Nature. In 2003, Benz recorded a number of duets, with the likes of Carly Simon, Kevin Lyttle and Shannon, with the aim of breaking into the US market. In the late 1990s, Benz founded the Stay In School program which provided help for needy students in his hometown of Franklin Town.[6]Carlton "Carlyle" Grant Jr., his 17-year-old son who had played a younger version of Benz's character in the film Shottas, was shot and killed by local police in Kingston, Jamaica, on 23 August 2008. Police say they stopped two men on a bicycle in the Kingston 8 area, and when they approached them, one of the men began firing at them. The police said they returned fire and the men fled. When they searched the area they found Grant Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds and in possession of a .45 semi-automatic pistol. Grant Jr. was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.Following his son's death, Benz founded the Carlisle Foundation, with the aim of helping local youths.[2] In July 2007, Benz co-hosted the Urban Music Awards in New York with Foxy Brown.[3] Benz was nominated for three awards at the first Caribbean Urban Music Awards, held in Jamaica in April 2008.[4] On 31 August 2010 Spragga Benz released his sixth solo album Shotta Culture See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

He began his career around 1991. Once known to his friends as "Spaghetti" (tall and slim), but this was later shortened to Spragga. The Benz in his name comes from the sound system for which he used to work for, L.A. Benz but only voiced two and suggested that Spragga do the other two. Since he was new to recording, he freestyled a couple of lines of what would then become, "Love Mi Gun", a popular tune. Hailing from Kingston Jamaica, Spragga Benz (born Carlton Grant) has been an icon of the local dancehall culture since the early 90's. He made his first appearance on the scene as an assistant DJ for Ricky Villa and the La Benz Sound System. It didn't take long before he had the chance to put some of his tunes on tracks like, "Love Mi Gun" and the lascivious "Jack It Up" which became instant underground classics. The re-release of the latter on a wider level, plus other tracks such as "Could A Deal" and "Girls Hooray" boosted his profile even further as Spragga Benz set out to become one of the hottest names within the dancehall scene of the decade. A subsequent deal with major label Capitol Records brought his sound outside Jamaica, and his music wasn't only opening up to brand new audiences, but also to brand new musical frontiers. Back in Jamaica, Spragga continues to release chart topping singles and collaborated with a host of talented local and international artists. Spragga set out to debut as an actor, becoming involved in influential productions such as, "Brooklyn Babylon" and gangster story, "Shottas". The film Shottas, co-starring Kymani Marley, Paul Campbell and Louie Rankin propelled Spragga's career to new heights. Spragga Benz has always been a philanthropist at heart. His humanitarian ways have been noted from the very beginning of his career when he started the "Stay In School" program back in the 90's, which provided help for needy students in his hometown. In honor of the untimely death of his first born son, Carlton "Carlyle" Grant, Jr., Spragga started a second organization, "The Carlyle Foundation", a program which currently provides scholarships and computers to excelling Jamaican students.
