In this episode of The Intentional Dad, hosts J. Fotsch and Jason Hynson sit down with guest Dyllan Dale, a New Pathways for Good Dads graduate. They unpack the challenges dads face when helping their kids navigate peer pressure and self-esteem. Through honest conversation and real-life stories, the trio explores how intentional parenting means being present, empathetic and proactive—especially when kids are influenced by their peers or struggling with their own worth. They discuss the cultural pressure on dads to provide, the emotional weight of comparison fueled by social media and the importance of saying "no" with love. Whether it's confronting unrealistic expectations, teaching kids it's okay to be different or reflecting on their own adolescence, the hosts highlight the value of listening, guiding and building trust through tough conversations. Episode Highlights [01:01] "This is some hard stuff. I've got to do this… the intentional part is the actual actions." [04:44] "I have to be intentional… say, 'I'm going to pick you up and we're just going to go hiking—nothing else.'" [07:27] "The culture nowadays pressures us dads to be such providers… if we can't give our kids everything we feel like we've failed." [9:55] "Going back to your family goals… sometimes that means the one-off outliers don't get the phone." [13:50] "That fear rises back up in me… but I have to say, 'That was a whole other lifetime ago.'" [21:41] "You're dealing with fear, anger… but you're also trying to remember what you needed at that age." [26:10] "I always tell them: it's okay to be different. You're going to grow up and be your own person." [30:49] "Maybe the goal with peer pressure is just to be available… to be a listening voice and a guide." Resources

How do our surroundings affect our ability to think? And can we connect with our sense of place and purpose by immersing ourselves in nature? In this episode of the Coach's Journey Podcast, walking coach Rebecca Norton brings her combined expertise in coaching and mountain leadership to bear on these questions and many more, in conversation with host Alex Swallow.Rebecca and Alex explore the lasting impact that access to the natural world has on our lives, from infancy through to adulthood, and how the coaching walks that Rebecca offers her clients help them to navigate new pathways – both in the physical environment and their internal worlds.Rebecca, who delivers workshop facilitation and social prescribing alongside her coaching and “wonder walks”, describes how she carefully built up her coaching business while continually developing her skills and experience as an outdoor activities instructor. She links the idea of being a tourist in your own city and developing curiosity about new perspectives with the importance of getting alongside coaching clients and seeing the world through their eyes. The many twists, turns, ups and downs of Rebecca's adventures in the hills act as a powerful metaphor for journeys through the challenges of careers, relationships, families and life decisions. Just as her clients gain new perspective on their lives as they ascend into the hills with Rebecca, so do we as she reflects on her unique, brilliant approach to coaching conversations and many other aspects of her work.In this episode, Rebecca and Alex also talk about:The power of experiencing coaching techniques from both sidesHow to integrate experiences as we train and gain qualificationsThe barriers we place between ourselves and our own fulfillmentSeeing who we need to become in order to achieve our goalsHow to lower the importance of gaining a client when building your coaching businessRebecca also reminds us that personal development can be a grueling expedition, and that if we fail to interrogate our deeper purpose and connect the ‘why' that guides us, we can be at risk of losing our way. Welcome back to another episode of Talk Property To Me! I'm your host, Brad East, alongside my co-host, Aaron Downie. In today's episode, we dive into seven significant trends reshaping the property market as we look ahead to 2025. We kick off the discussion by highlighting the rise of millennials as the largest adult cohort in Australia. This demographic shift is crucial as millennials have different preferences compared to previous generations, particularly when it comes to property. They are leaning towards smaller homes closer to urban centers, which ties into our fourth trend: shrinking backyards. We explore how the desire for lifestyle options and proximity to amenities is influencing property demand and supply dynamics. Next, we discuss the concept of stepping stones in home ownership. With the market becoming increasingly challenging to navigate, many are opting for smaller apartments or townhouses as a way to enter the property market, rather than waiting to save for their dream home. We emphasize that for first-time buyers, this is often just the beginning of their property journey. We then delve into new pathways for home ownership, including government schemes aimed at assisting first-time buyers. While we acknowledge the potential of co-buying and rent-to-own models, we express scepticism about their long-term viability as primary market drivers. Instead, we highlight the importance of investment strategies that allow buyers to explore properties in different locations, potentially leading to better long-term outcomes. As we move through the trends, we touch on the growing demand for green homes. With millennials increasingly conscious of climate change and energy costs, features like solar panels and smart home technology are becoming essential for many buyers. We discuss how these elements can significantly impact property value and buyer interest. The conversation shifts to urban sprawl, where we note that metropolitan areas are expanding outward. This trend is largely driven by affordability, as buyers seek homes that offer a balance between distance from the city and access to amenities. Finally, we address the rise of renters in the current market. With home ownership rates declining, we see a growing number of renters, which presents unique opportunities for property investors. We discuss how this trend can drive up rental returns and create a competitive landscape for investment. In conclusion, we summarize these seven trends and encourage our listeners to consider them when developing their property strategies for the coming year. We invite feedback and suggestions for future topics, reminding everyone to like, subscribe, and join us for our next episode. We hope that you enjoy this message from our Pastor, Dr. Robert Russell.
Click here to send me a quick message :) The truth is that behavior change is NOT easy. Most of us can't just say we want to do something, and then just do it. Especially if it's something we're trying to incorporate into our lives for a long period of time, regularly. We have rhythms and patterns we are accustomed to. Sometimes they're healthy for us, and sometimes they're not. Sometimes we're choosing them, and sometimes they're just our default. In working with clients for years, and also through my extensive health coach training, I've found that most of us don't have an easy time implementing something new into our lives, even if we know it's healthy for us or even if it's something we 100% want (myself included). So today I decided to riff on the framework I see as foundational in the process of implementing something new.Honestly I was inspired to speak to this partly because of this week's very controversial holiday (honor to ALL the indigenous people of Turtle Island who are certainly not represented accurately in the stories we learned in school). But the act of true thanks-giving and allowing ourselves to feel gratitude is to me, the first step in effectively adding something new into our lives. Not because our gratitude encourages change in itself, but because when we feel that sense of abundance in our lives, we can move from a foundation of feeling what's good, and what's possible. Accepting ourselves where we have been and are now, before beginning to envision what's next for us. Instead of coming from a place of lack, we're coming from a place of nourishment. And from there we can move into vision, gathering resources, intention and goal setting, creative action and then maintenance over time. I speak to all of this and, as usual, so much more in this week's episode. Listen to learn:some of the reasons we often don't achieve our goals the foundational pillars of behavior change from my perspectivewhy I think gratitude is a huge and often missing factor what the difference is between vision and intentionhow normal it is to face obstacles after implementing changehow this is relevant to the upcoming Natural Contraception course Resources:Grab your spot on the Natural Contraception course waitlist hereToday's shownotes: How to create new pathways of embodied possibilityEpisode 12: The simple practice of making herbal teasEpisode 107: The healing practice of everyday ritualsFree guide: Track your cycle naturally (FAM basics)If you loved this episode, share it with a friend, or take a screenshot and share on social media and tag me @herbalwombwisdom. They're about protecting your energy and well-being, allowing you to thrive both creatively and intimately. Amanda stresses the importance of identifying and communicating your limits. Creative Exploration Fuels Intimacy: Engaging in creative activities can deepen your connection with your partner. It's all about play, experimentation, and being open to new ways of expressing yourself, which can spill over into your sexual life. This awareness helps you make decisions that align with your true desires, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling life. After a governmentwide update to the Pathways Program, the Department of Health and Human Services is already looking at how to start implementing the new flexibilities into its program. But many of those flexibilities, which the Office of Personnel Management finalized in April, are optional, rather than required. That means it depends on an agency's resources to make them a reality, and in many cases, requires agencies to think creatively. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today's podcast episode is about goals, and I know how that sounds for some people, but I promise this will surprise you and possibly even delight you instead of causing the typical eye rolls. In my everyday work, I would guess that around 75% of my clients are so frustrated with setting goals that they just stop. Whether it's a feeling of burnout or frustration from not hitting the goals, it's not a lovable topic. In this episode, I'm using my background in industrial organizational psychology and the classes I've taken in human motivation and goal setting. Plus, I have 22 years of experience studying humans in the wild and going through the process myself. Hopefully, each of you will gain some new perspective today.I'm giving you permission not to set goals. In other podcasts, I've said, “On a personal level, you don't need to have goals, direction, or anything. You can just float through life. You can be happy, you can be creative, you can be unstructured. You can be whatever you want to be, or you can be like me.” I like structure, and I am very habitual. I can thank my ADHD for that. I've had to figure things out in my own way and have developed strong executive functioning skills. But not everyone is like me. Nothing bad is going to happen to you if you do not set goals. With business, some benchmarks need to be hit to succeed. You need to be able to pay yourself, support your family, and support your financial direction. Goals can help ensure you aren't floating aimlessly adrift. But at the same time, you do not have to set goals. On this episode of the Getting Smart Podcast Tom Vander Ark is joined by Dr. Amanda Stent, director of the Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and Dr Taniya Mishra, founder and CEO of SureStart. Administered by Colby's Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence and the Halloran Lab for Entrepreneurship, the summer-long SureStart curriculum at Colby evolved from a longtime friendship between the two guests. The Davis Institute for AI facilitates interdisciplinary, human-centered scholarship using rich datasets with real-world consequences and prepares students for a future where AI is transforming industries, careers, and modes of discovery, creativity, and scholarship. A new generation of ethical AI designers spent eight weeks at Colby this summer for a start-up boot camp called SureStart. In addition to nine rising sophomores from Colby, the program attracted four students from partner school Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the nation's first degree-granting historically black college or university. The program aimed to teach students with an interest in AI skills to develop a well-researched and market-ready product that solves a real-world problem with a convenient and cost-effective solution. Students also had the opportunity to work with SureStart mentors including partners from organizations such as Alethea, Lockheed Martin, and Bloomberg Second Measure.
