Summary On this episode of Startup Junkies, hosts Caleb Talley, Jeff Amerine, and Victoria Dickerson talk to Austin Simkins, co-founder of Natural Way Food Group, an innovative food company based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2017, Austin and his brother Quinn started their journey in their grandmother's utility room with a family recipe for chocolate covered peanut butter. Natural Way Food Group has since grown to sell peanut butter in six different flavors in over one thousand stores across the country, including Walmart, Safeway, Sprouts, and Whole Foods. Throughout the episode, Austin discusses how Natural Way Food Group's products differ from its competitors, what's on the horizon for Natural Way Food Group, and how its marketing tactics are community driven.   Show Notes (0:56) Introducing Austin Simkins (1:37) The Start of Natural Way Food Group (6:02) The Process and Struggles of Building a Business (10:21) Natural Way Food Group's Peanut Butter vs. Others (14:09) Natural Way Food Group's Target Market (16:28) The Impact Sports Can Have on Entrepreneurship (19:27) What's Next for Natural Way Food Group (30:45) How Natural Way Food Group Is Reaching Its Customer Base (40:00) Advice to Younger Self (42:18) Closing Thoughts   Links Caleb Talley Jeff Amerine  Victoria Dickerson Austin Simkins Natural Way Food Group   Quotes “For me personally, since I wasn't the most talented athlete, I had to outwork people. And so that's the same mentality I have with our business. I may not be the smartest guy in the room, but I will outwork you. I will put in more hours than you do. I will find a way to get over whatever hurdle I have in my way to get to the next point.” - Austin Simkins, (17:14) “Building those relationships at the end of the day, I can love my job, I can make as much peanut butter as I can make, but if I don't have customers that love the product and believe in what we're doing, it doesn't matter. So they are the lifeblood of the company. I want to connect with people on the deepest scale that we can.” - Austin Simkins, (33:10) “Trust the process. The first couple of years when we started, it was the expectation that things would happen overnight, and I think that's part of our culture of instant gratification. We're just inundated with it. We put in a little bit of work and we want the finished result right now...but as I've gotten a little bit older, I've just fallen in love with the process. I've had a couple of mentors that have told me if you can learn to love the process instead of the results, you could do this your entire life.” - Austin Simkins, (40:06)

On this episode of the DOD45 show we are pleasantly treated with the presence of Greg "Craola" Simkins & we explore all things Craola, including the short film "I'm Scared" based on Craola's characters and stories and some acrylic painting tips. But the burning question we have for him is, Is Oswald a mouse or is Mickey a rabbit? Craola confidently says he's a rabbit, but we suggest that's debatable. And hey, d'ya ever wonder how to get an artist to honestly discuss their artworks? ...well, we spend a moment pointing some things that you probably definitely shouldn't say, if you want an honest answer from the artist your talking to. Or maybe ya don't care at all, so maybe you should be the one doing the "art"ing. Craola is a human/artist that really doesn't need an introduction or any additional accredited boosting from us, so lemme just tell ya some random things that do come up in this conversation. Craola was born in 1975 in Torrance California and grew up with a menagerie of animals like rabbits which are often seen in his paintings. He started to draw at the age of three with various inspirations from books and cartoons. Then at the age of 18, he did graffiti art which became his impetus for in-depth art creations and drove him to paint larger works. The color perspective theories developed more of his artistic skills, then later on transitioned to acrylics. Craola worked as an illustrator for various clothing companies and brands. Then moved to video games like Tony Hawk 2X, Spiderman 2, and Ultimate Spiderman.  David Simkins is well known as a writer for both the big and small screen, writing ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING and working on shows like Adventures of Brisco County Jr. and Lois & Clark, but it was a surprise to us that he started his career working as a development executive at New World Pictures. In fact, Simkins was critical to the studio making 1984's CHILDREN OF THE CORN, so we had to interview him for #Corntober! Simkins takes us through his early years working on the high school sketch show Beyond Our Control, to working at New World Pictures, crushing on Linda Hamilton, and pitching ideas to the executives, one of which became a beloved Christmas classic (to some). Then we discuss  then working with Debra Hill, how Simkins invented "quiet quitting," what Coen Brothers movie New World had a chance to release but didn't, and Simkins's TV work, from Brisco County Jr. to the Sam Raimi show Spy Game to recent work on Powers and Wu Assassins.  Jump in, the children demand it!

Later on in his treatment , his doctors gave him a less than 1 percent chance of survival. But survive he did.Brennan is now 21 years old and is a student at the College of Charleston's Reach program in which he has a keen interest in politics. His health is good enough so that he is able to lead a successful and meaningful life as he looks towards a promising future.

Monitoring hyper-scale data centers require significant planning, understanding of pain points, and innovative solutions. Data center infrastructure management includes tools for monitoring, measuring, and managing data centers. The global DCIM market was estimated at $2 billion in 2022. It is projected to maintain a compound annual growth rate of 11.9% from 2022 to 2026, reaching $2.9 billion. In this growing market, implementation has evolved considerably, and Polygon is at the forefront of changes. Polygon's turnkey solutions mitigate risks proactively instead of reactively. “Polygon has the ability to continuously evolve and keep up with all the new developments and the demands from not only the building owners but the general contractors. So we have done a considerable amount of transitioning, improvement, and stellar technology that we're now currently using,” said Tina York, Polygon's Director of Client Development.Though data centers don't have a lot of internal walls, the expansive spaces include large pieces of equipment. “Now we're using this lower frequency that is 915 megahertz, and it really penetrates through or finds its way around it so that we can get these sensors that are wireless and battery operated to communicate back to what is called the base station or gateway,” said David Simkins, Polygon's Director of Engineering and Technology. The team has seen an increase in clients requesting sensors to detect efficiencies. “We see the movement, and it's not slowing down, having technology that we can actually bring into a project that supports their goals and carbon reduction footprint. And having the data available to show building owners that they're being diligent and implementing the right processes is instrumental,” said York. With Polygon's leak detectors, the sensors can alert stakeholders to issues early. “These areas and the things we're measuring can get remediated or shut down quite quickly, which means less business interruption, a quicker construction schedule,” said Simkins. The green effort umbrella includes monitoring air quality so that employees in the center are confident that the air quality is safe. Monitoring consists of a wide range of levels. Alerts are sent to managers via email or text so the team can act quickly. In this episode, learn more about Polygon's custom DCIM solutions, and subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen.
