In 2020 Doug was a guest instructor at Princeton University. Doug earned a Ph.D. in music history at the University of Washington in 2022.Doug's work in ballet is focused on nineteenth-century French and Russian source material. A fluent reader of Stepanov choreographic notation, he has contributed historically informed dances to a number of productions. He has work for Pacific Northwest Ballet School, collaborated with Tamara Rojo in the early stages of her work on Raymonda (English National Ballet, 2022; San Francisco Ballet, 2025), and in 2024, he staged Star on the Rise... La Bayadère Reimagined! with Phil Chan at Indiana University. Most recently, he staged The Sleeping Beauty with Pete Boal at Pacific Northwest Ballet.Doug's writings on dance have been published in Ballet Alert!, Ballet Review, Dance View, and Dancing Times and online by Oxford University Press. He is co-author with Marian Smith of Five Ballets from Paris and St. Petersburg (Oxford University Press, 2024.)Doug has been a frequent presenter and moderator for the Guggenheim Museum's Works & Process series. Er hat dieses Jahr schon früh in der Saison für Aufsehen gesorgt mit seiner fulminanten Steigerung über 800m auf 1:44,17min: Alexander Stepanov. Es ist die schnellste Zeit eines deutschen Läufers seit vielen Jahren und bringt ihn direkt in die Top10 der ewigen deutschen Bestenliste, nur eine Hundertstelsekunde hinter Olympiasieger Nils Schumann. Dabei ist er erst 20 Jahre alt und sagt selbst, dass sein bisheriger Werdegang anders als es rein auf dem Papier aussehen mag, nicht immer nur einfach war. Körperliche Unterlegenheit im Vergleich zu Altersgenossen in jungen Jahren, dann auch ein Fußbruch, der ihn erst mal weit zurück warf. Verbessert hat er sich trotzdem von Jahr zu Jahr und das meist deutlich um mehrere Sekunden. Dafür verantwortlich ist zweifellos sein familiäres Umfeld. Alex' Vater Oleg, der ihn auch trainiert, lief selbst schon 1:46,29min und seine Mutter Elvira 2:01min. Sein Talent über die 800m wurde ihm also förmlich in die Wiege gelegt. Despite the intense research on the quantum many-body problem over the last decades, many of its aspects have not yet been fully understood. Recent progress, however, has been achieved by the application of so-called multi-method, multi-messenger studies of the most fundamental model for electronic correlations, the Hubbard model [1,2].In the first part of the talk, I will present such a study of the half-filled two-dimensional Hubbard model on a simple square lattice at small values of the local Coulomb interaction [1]. I will demonstrate that the footprints of spin fluctuations can be tracked by a rich series of crossovers in multiple observables by multiple numerical techniques. In the second part of the talk, I will show how one can determine which fluctuation channel (charge, spin, particle-particle) is responsible for spectral properties such as the pseudogap in the strong coupling regime, directly relevant to cuprates. Pavel Stepanov founded Virtudesk in 2016, because he saw that virtual assistants are an integral part of a small business. Prior to creating Virtudesk, Pavel was selling real estate full time and operated a real estate brokerage. He saw how much time was spent on tasks that do not generate revenue directly, but still must be done in order to run a successful business. He first hired a virtual assistant in the Philippines to help him with prospecting and admin tasks and focused only on work that directly generated income. He saw not only amazing growth of the business, but also better quality of life as he was finally able to get out of daily hamster wheel grind and spend more time with his family. After all, time is the only commodity that is available equally to everybody and one cannot buy more of it. Virtudesk started out with only a couple of virtual assistants and a dream to make the world a better place for busy professionals and now the company is proud to be at the forefront of the industry providing jobs for hundreds of employees. Pavel believes that the people of Virtudesk are major assets to the company and treats them like family.
