Season 3 Part 11 of the Travels With Randy podcast is here! Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Platitudes Once again, Bubba has a busy stretch of time and can't get the 'ole podcast recorded fast enough because holy moley Randy has been everywhere in the past week and a half. We start this week's journey in New Mexico at the Carlsbad Caverns National Park, which is over a mile and a half walk all underground and all beautiful. Make sure to find Randy's Facebook post on Travels With Randy for this one - amazing pics. From there it's off to Guadalupe National Park in Texas and then down to Big Bend National Park in Texas, which borders the Rio Grande and the Mexican border. Randy then almost poops his pants in San Antonio right before he follows the Texas coast down to South Padre Island and then up and around the Texas border to Galveston, then Orange, Texas. Then it's across the swampy west Louisiana landscape over to Baton Rouge and down to New Orleans for a wonderful dinner of....Italian food? (Facepalm). Randy finishes the week moving across the Gulf Coast into Alabama. This area is a big memory for Bubba, who sold pictures on streetcorners with Scientologists all across the Nawlins area and over to Gulfport and Biloxi, and he fills Randy in on the experience. Randy is Miami bound to watch a little baseball next week and we can't wait to catch up then. Florida Land Scams aren't ancient history... they are still very much with us (and for sale!) today. For this Tale From the Closing Table, I show you a historic land scam in Polk County, Florida that is similar to many others found in the Sunshine State. The 1900s were a heyday of conmen, opportunists, and outright fraud and deception when it comes to real estate in Florida. "Selling swampland in Florida" isn't just a myth, it's something that actually happened, by design, and continues to happen to this day! You will learn some of the key identifiers of these sorts of vacant land lots, as well as typical outcomes and how best to dispose of them. Archive.org Wayback Machine Link: https://web.archive.org/web/20091219123010/http://www.floridalandscams.com/Home_Page.php "We aren't selling the people a subdivision, we are selling them the *dream* of a subdivision." Are you curious if the lot you own is part of a historic land scam? You can search google and try to find an agent with this expertise in identifying the best way to sell problematic land... Or you could simply call us! Want to experience The Way Real Estate Should Be™? The Woven series will center around the theme of stories. We will look at how our stories intersect with one another's stories, and ultimately with God's story. How well do we know our own story and how we have become who we are? Am I able to see the overlap of my themes in my spouses', fiance's, friend's, neighbors lives? How can the story of salvation bring healing and prepare us for what we were truly made for (to know and to be known)?

In this episode, we travel back in time to the place South Florida used to be — the Everglades before it was drained, developed and transformed into the megalopolis we know today. We start with a bird's-eye view of the ecosystem. Then we get down on the ground to look at the consequences of drainage up close. Finally we discuss why a restoration plan passed more than two decades ago is more pressing now than ever before.

Warm β -exponential inflation and the Swampland Conjectures by F. B. M. dos Santos et al. on Wednesday 14 September We investigate theoretical and observational aspects of a warm inflation scenario driven by the $beta$-exponential potential, which generalizes the well-known power law inflation. In such a scenario, the decay of the inflaton field into radiation happens during the inflationary phase. In our study, we consider a dissipation coefficient ($Gamma$) with cubic dependence on the temperature ($T$) and investigate the consequences in the inflationary dynamics, focusing on the impact on the spectral index $n_s$, its running $n_{run}$ and tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$. We find it possible to realize inflation in agreement with current cosmic microwave background data in weak and strong dissipation regimes. We also investigate theoretical aspects of the model in light of the swampland conjectures, as warm inflation in the strong dissipation regime has been known as a way to satisfy the three conditions currently discussed in the literature. We find that when $Gammapropto T^3$, the $beta$-exponential model can be accommodated into the conjectures. arXiv: http://arxiv.org/abs/http://arxiv.org/abs/2209.06153v1

Randy Newton: In the Bible Belt, musicians have quite a range — from rap to soul to country — and the variety of characters brings the charm and southern grit out during each performance. Listening to a local musician tells stories is very similar to listening to a band that made it big. Talking to people pursuing their dreams, one hears stories of triumph, growth and heartache — stories that transcend local boundaries and the radio waves. For a lot of musicians, church brought out their musical roots. And for one storyteller, Randy Newton, church was just the start for him. At 13, Newton was given a guitar and ever since, his heart has belonged to the song. Growing up in the area, his stories range from local dive bars to restaurants playing, singing and dancing along with multiple bands he has been a part of over the years. “I grew up at a place called the Twilight Restaurant,” Newton said. “Everybody had their first beer and their first kiss at the Twilight. It opened up in the late ‘40s, but it hit the big time in like '59. It had 25 curb hops, sold 60 cases of beer a night on the curb. In the middle of the curb was a patio, on the backside of this thing was a two-story building that had glass. They turned records. People that were down on the dance floor could look up and say, ‘play Fats Domino,' or something like that. And they turned records and there was a speaker at all four corners.” Twilight was the place. Whether after Friday night football games or for a date night, it was the joint for music. Newton credits the restaurant for truly giving him his love of music. “In the kitchen were the cooks,” he said. “Jessie Hamilton, who worked for us from age 15 to age 39 was like my big brother, and he was playing the radio and it was always the soul music … and I fell in love with all the black music. On the jukebox and on the curb, they, of course, were playing all the popular music.” From soul to pop — locals danced the night away in the ‘60s at Twilight, but several other local spots were growing in popularity as well. “Swampland, this place that for 27 years was the longest-running show of its type in Toomsboro. Every Saturday night, local bands would come and play and it was the place to be for everybody in Middle Georgia,” Newton said. At the Swampland, Newton recalled, everybody who was somebody was there — politicians, reporters, everybody who was somebody was there. Newton has been a part of several bands, each making a name for itself locally and each coming with its own stories. “We had played every song we knew, twice,” Newton recalled about a performance with one of his bands. “The place was standing up — nobody would leave. We did one song three times. Me and my wife's big hit was ‘Good Hearted Woman,' Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, it was a big hit back then and me and her did that song the third time, the place was totally insane. I got chill bumps just thinking about it now.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/momentsofgrace/support

Given that exact global symmetries are forbidden by quantum gravity, it is natural to expect that bounds on the quality of approximate global symmetries exist. So far, holographic arguments have only been provided for the former claim. I will discuss a classification of approximate global symmetries and describe a simple argument, based the Weak Gravity Conjecture, for a quantitative bound on the sub-class of "gauge-derived" global symmetries. This has intriguing relations to wormhole-based arguments, which I will also present. I will end with a brief discussion of the fundamental problems associated with euclidean wormholes and of some recent developments in this context.

Back in the 50s and 60s you could find no more Racist state in America than Alabama. Swampland and urban squalor blacks getting hosed down and the overt fears of one race towards another was revealed. These overt acts of hostility provided character development from folks like my guest who grew up playing black clubs on the Chitlin circuit. Because of the communal/spiritual nature of music it pushed back against the epidemic of Rascism. It strove for love in this case trust with a fallen Allman Duane that is as the band decided to go with a lead piano player alongside the gun slinger Dickey Betts. This was gutbucket music mixing Appalacia/Dixie/Blues/Cajon/Swamp/funk/ down @ Capricorn Records..... This laid back boogie woodie permeated my guest as he became connected with Grandmother Earth tending farms in Georgia learning about the earth, how to heal it...bring the Sea Level Down just a little because the Fever's always there. Ici "I Need Adventure" (1980) 3/ ACID EATER "top of spot" (Virulent Fuzz Punk A.C.I.D. - 2007). Des allumés japonais, dont ce premier album me ravit toujours autant ! 4/ EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING "I Can Be A Jerk" (Rush To Relax - 2010). 6/ THE FLESHTONES "The Dreg". Enorme morceau du premier album des Fleshtones, Roman Gods, en 1981. 7/ CURTIS MAYFIELD "Don't Worry If There's A Hell Below We're All Gonna Go". 9/ LUCILLE FURS "Another Land" (Another Land - 2019). 10/ GORILLAS "It's My Life". Enfin presque... 14/ THE OBLIVIANS "Clones" (Sympathy Sessions - 1996). J'ai toujours kiffé ce morceau, extrait de la compil Sounds Of Now de 1987. 16/ THE MONSTERS "Let Me Spend The Night With Your Wife". 19/ THE OUTSIDERS "Misfit" (CQ - 1968).

String theory seems to offer an enormous number of possibilities for low energy physics. The huge set of solutions is often known as the String Theory Landscape. In recent years, however, it has become clear that not all quantum field theories can be consistently coupled to gravity. Theories that cannot be ultraviolet completed in quantum gravity are said to be in the Swampland. In this talk, I'll discuss some conjectured properties of quantum gravity, evidences for them, and their applications to cosmology and particle physics.

New Orleans is one of the most charming and distinct cities in America… but 300 years ago, it would have been hard to see that potential. In this episode, Will and Mango dig into how French the French quarter really is, why the graveyards look like little villages, and whether the Peacemaker sandwich really can keep an angry couple together. In this episode: unions and progressives outspend conservatives in a Wisconsin judicial race only to choke it away, one Swampland operative has two advocacy groups with differing views on a major managed trade package, and we look at some of the more amusing and more controversial uses that unions found for their members’ dues money in 2018. Finding an alligator in our back yard isn't a big worry for most of us; but for some families in certain areas of the country, this is a very real reality. For many Florida and Louisiana residents, finding these scary reptiles roaming around on their property can be life threatening for both the humans, and any pets involved. With Summer time nearly in full swing, "nuisance" animals such as alligators and snakes are more prone to come out of hiding and into common human living space. So what can be done? Join us in this episode of The Missy Show, as we look into ways of protecting your family and pets if you should find that an alligator has set up shop at your residence.

Scratch and Bite Outcast.9.The Walkabout Yoweeee PodCastOffs. Welcome to OutCast the Podcast on walkabout in outback Australia. The Stiffies opened our journey tonight as a warning to all those who trek the wilds of the planet … you to could end up in “Swampland” After that “Crash and Burn” we discover the North Coasts “Hammerfish” was home to both “The Stiffies” Ryan and Greg from “The Outcome”.and foreshadows Greg’s path through various noise machines until “The Crimson Project“, remodelled as “ The Violation of Silence” and now in its final form “The Outcome” definitely will “Keep Running”. The Outcome, a powerful machine indeed. If you cruised round this great land of ocean and desert, You would have no doubt met “Gypsy Dave” sitting at his campfire near some lonely Billabong reminiscing about the “Bye and Bye”. Unfortunately “Gypsy Dave” passed away late this year, living the Rock and Roll lifestyle to the end and teaching a new generation of noisemakers his art. Gypsy Dave (Ian Thomas) was an interesting character, a survivor of the Seminal sixties garage bands “The Missing Links” precursors to the Punk outbreak 10 years later, “The Showmen”, “Thomas Hood” and several other reincarnations through a chequered career in the Australian music scene. The Missing Link exposé of “Nervous Breakdown” featured a scathing Ian Thomas shattering every Elvis fans heart. In true links fashion the “Missing Links” always let you know “You’re Driving Me Insane”. A listen to some of Australia’s bands of sixties would loosen anyone’s brain cells. Found on several tracks of the “Gypsy Dave” CD is Ray Arnott another stalwart of the Australian music scene. Ray has credits on so many tracks you would think he was the only drummer in Australia; I will delve into Ray in the future. Ray also was a leg in the trio “Digital Soul” with the incandescent “I’m on Fire” featuring “Laura Gillespie” who we will catch up with on another episode. Down in the South of the country Melbourne’s young bloods “NeonPres” are starting their own climb into the Australian musical hierarchy, with a slight departure from their frantic funk the pulsing “Down”. Peeled off caves walls around my slice of heaven and hung for your pleasure are images by the incredulous Danielle Burford. http://www.danielleburford.com.au Remember I want you to contribute to my noise ravaged world, so send your noise, images, and words to me and the planet can see you for who you are. Send stuff here scratchandbite@podomatic.com muzz@scratchandbite.com Or visit www.myspace.com/outcastpodcast If that is too scary, email me and I will sedate you so it will all seem like a dream. If you are brave enough for another episode so am I, of course it will consist of Noise, more noise and images related to NOISE! Disappearing into the dust this episode closes with the raw energy of “Sunday Faynes with Loco Parentus” the fresh blood that will keep Australian music driving the planet. Sunday says “Get Stuffed”. Don’t forget! I want to get Stuffed….I want to get Stuff! Send stuff, if you don’t have noise or images, send money.
