The echoes of a life once lived in uniform often linger long after the last salute, a sentiment Ray Steele knows all too well. As a first-generation immigrant who rose through the ranks to join the elite Green Berets, his tale is one of resilience and transformation. Ray Steele walks us through his remarkable life's arc, from grappling with the decision to enlist to the life-altering switch from military to civilian realms, all while revealing the often untold struggles that veterans face during this significant change. Our exchange peels back the layers on the identity crisis that can ensue when one's service ends, an experience I relate to deeply as I recount my own post-military recalibration. As we navigate through the heart of our discussion, the rigors and prestige of the Special Forces come into sharp relief. The conversation leads us into the world of the 18 Bravo course, where Deny, alongside Ray, share firsthand the trials and tribulations of intense training and the subsequent shift to becoming a mentor for the emerging class of warriors. We confront the contentious topic of diluted training standards head-on, scrutinizing their potential ripple effects on the caliber of soldiers and operational readiness. The dialogue takes a turn as we examine the changing tide of deployment cycles, weighed down by the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the emotional and professional challenges that come with adapting to a military environment in flux.If you enjoy our content, sign up for our Patreon and get access to additional content, bonus episodes, and access each episode before they drop on Spotify or iTunes. Nick talks about whether the confidence in this team is real and why it should be more or less based on the AFC outlook right now.
At this point, it's a buzzword- but what role is the United States Air Force going to play in the "future fight", or the next conflict? You have questions, we have... a conversation to help you understand your own questions. While we might not answer every single question you have, we hope we did help you to understand that the only constant is change. Oh, and we talk about the dive removal, this time with Peaches, which means that we won't get memed over it. We shall see, I guess. Thanks for hanging out with us here in the Team Room! It's Friday! And there is golf in many parts of the globe, but Joseph LaMagna begins by quizzing and confounding Brendan with the latest TikTok trend. That quickly transitions to a wandering chat on all things Rome, including Adrian Meronk's play at Wentwoth and JT's play in Napa. It's what Joseph is calling the potential “Petty Swing.” Then they get to news that Team USA wants to preserve its “sacredness” and “sanctity” by not allowing the Netflix cameras into the team room in Rome. There's also a discussion of DJ's comments that he would be on the Ryder Cup team were he playing on the PGA Tour this year and not LIV. Then they get to a beefy Golf Advice section, replying to emails on a range of questions about gimme controversies, lunatics chucking clubs, not remembering names, and rain gear off the golf course.
Jay Dorleus was an Active Duty Green Beret who had 20 years of experience in the military. Of those 20 years, 14 were spent in SOF as a Green Beret as an Engineer Sergeant, better known as an 18 Charlie. Jay has learned a lot from his multiple combat deployments and wanted to find a way to help prospective Special Forces Soldiers succeed at selection, in the pipeline, and beyond. Obviously, we saw a lot of parallels with Jay, so Peaches sat down and talked through all their shared experiences to help you be successful. Huge thank you to Jay for all his work and willingness to help out the next generation. Make sure to check out his Instagram at Green_Beret_Chronicles and his YouTube channel listed below in the chapter markers. For all you Green Beret hopefuls, check out Jay wherever you can find him and if you come to your senses and want to try out for Air Force Special Warfare; you know where to find us! 00:00 Peaches uses his raspy voice for CardoMax and 18A Fitness - See codes below04:10 Jay's background 14:50 AFSW Experience as a Green Beret 30:35 Village Stability Operations and establishing a new outpost39:00 The Green Beret Chronicles - @GreenBeretChronicles 43:30 Mentorship program55:00 Advice 58:15 9/11Collabs:18A Fitness - Promo Code: 1ReadyAlpha Brew Coffee Company - Promo Code: ONESREADYATAC Fitness - Promo Code: ONESREADY10CardoMax - Promo Code: ONESREADYEberlestock - Promo Code: OR10Hoist - Promo Code: ONESREADYStrike Force Energy - Promo Code: ONESREADYTrench Coffee Company - Promo Code: ONESREADYGrey Man Gear - Promo Code: ONESREADY The content provided is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.
