Vernon Baumrind, is the father of two adult children and grandfather of four, living in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is the author of the book, Deceit.Deceit is a story of a loving father facing formidable legal odds to secure custody of his two small children, using wiretap technology. He turns the tide in his favor in the case of a cheating wife and a manipulative gynecologist, a lifelong sexual predator with power and authority whose vile exploits have devastating effects on everyone in his sphere. These events happened 45 years ago, but due to the indecent content of the wiretap recordings, the explicit details of the story were kept under wraps largely because of the tender ages of the two children in the story; the content of which would have been detrimental to them in their formative years. The family court judge sealed the files, including the tapes and the transcriptions of those tapes for the protection of the children. And, only now – 45 years later – is the complete story being revealed. In This EpisodeVernon Baumrind's Website---What's new with The Trauma Therapist Project! The Trauma 5: gold nuggets from my 700+ interviewsThe Trauma Therapist Newsletter: a monthly resource of information and inspiration dedicated to trauma therapists.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy helped Rotem change so many lives that it ended up changing his own life. By treating his clients with this transformative therapy, he's realized the limitless power of healing therapists have. When he started providing consultation to newly trained EMDR therapists, he discovered that many therapists needed help and support on their own journey. Many therapists find it hard to navigate the endless flow of information from books, articles, studies, and, of course, the internet. To help therapists learn and grow, Rotem created the EMDR learning community, where clinicians read and learn together.EMDR is a transformational form of psychotherapy. It has the potential to create long-lasting changes for our clients. Mediocre therapy will lead to mediocre outcomes or worse—make your client worse. Rotem believes that mediocrity is not an option. Sadly, many EMDR-trained therapists are afraid to use this transformative therapy in their practice or are unsure about what to do when things get complicated. In This EpisodeRotem's WebsiteThe Art and Science of EMDREMDRIAThe Art and Science of EMDR: Helping Clinicians Bridge the Path from Protocol to Practice, by Rotem Brayer---What's new with The Trauma Therapist Project! The Trauma 5: gold nuggets from my 700+ interviewsThe Trauma Therapist Newsletter: a monthly resource of information and inspiration dedicated to trauma therapists.

Dr. Tracey Shors is a Distinguished Professor in Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology and the Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers University. She has ~150 scientific publications and has recently written a popular book Everyday Trauma. Dr. Shors is also focused on identifying effective tools for reducing repetitive thoughts that reinforce our everyday traumas. Her brain fitness program, known as MAP Train My Brain combines “mental and physical” training with silent meditation and aerobic exercise to decrease trauma-related and repetitive thoughts, as well as symptoms of depression and anxiety.By understanding how and why our brain tends to ruminate, while training them with new mental and physical skills, we are better equipped to leave our pasts behind and live in a brighter future. In This EpisodeTracy's websiteMAP Train My BrainEveryday Trauma: Remapping the Brain's Response to Stress, Anxiety, and Painful Memories for a Better Life---What's new with The Trauma Therapist Project! The Trauma 5: gold nuggets from my 700+ interviewsThe Trauma Therapist Newsletter: a monthly resource of information and inspiration dedicated to trauma therapists. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5739761/advertisement
