In this episode, I discuss trauma and how to deal with its impact with Dr. Norman Fried. After October 7th, Dr. Fried became a vocal advocate and dealt with the backlash. This is an extremely deep episode and one of my personal favorites. After receiving his PhD in clinical and pediatric psychology from Emory University, Dr. Norman J. Fried served as the chief psychologist for the Children's Cancer Centers and the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Northwell Health and Winthrop University Hospitals for 20 years. His academic appointments include assistant professor in pediatrics and psychiatry at New York University Medical School, adjunct assistant professor of pastoral counseling at the Jewish Theological Seminary/Columbia University, and fellow in clinical and pediatric psychology at Harvard Medical School. Now in full-time private practice as a grief and trauma specialist, Norman lectures on the practice of psychotherapy with critically and terminally ill children and their families at conferences across the US and Europe. Additionally, he is a disaster mental health specialist for the American Red Cross of greater New York. He is the author of four books, including The Childhood Trauma Recovery Workbook for Adults.
