The Upper East Side of New York City is home to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, some phenomenally expensive homes, and a lively restaurant and bar scene. In this quick guide, we'll break down what an afternoon (or full day) on the Upper East Side can look like from pre-museum activities, an excellent bar for happy hour, and a few food options you won't want to miss!First Stop - Early Lunch at Don Filippo & Coffee at 787 CoffeeDon Filippo is quite the unassuming spot, with the decor giving you the feel of an authentic '90s pizza joint. But don't be fooled; their pizzas are phenomenal, available as a pie or by the slice.Don't skip the garlic knots!Check out Don Filippo here. Before heading to the MET, take a quick detour for some delicious and highly-rated coffee from 787 Coffee. Their cappuccino is solid and they also offer delicious drip coffee. The museum is massive, and you don't wanna be dragging during your visit!Check out 787 Coffee on the Upper East Side here.Main Activity - 2-3 Hours at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET)Head to their website beforehand to buy tickets (which will save you some time) and plan out certain exhibits or art pieces you want to see. It's a huge museum covering many time periods, art styles, and art mediums.Check out the MET here.Optional 2nd Activity - The Obelisk & Belvedere Castle in Central ParkThese two iconic spots in Central Park are close to the MET and will only take roughly 45-60 minutes to explore after your visit to the museum.Check outThe Obelisk here & seeBelvedere Castle here.Post-Museum Drinks at The Raven PubIdeally, you catch their happy hour until 7 pm to get $7 beers, wines, and well drinks! We love this pub, which features a surprisingly robust food menu, plenty of beers on draft, and live music throughout the week.Check out The Raven Pub here. This Episode's You'll Have to Check It Out Segment - Sushi GamaSushi Gama is a fantastic option for some fresh sushi with quick service and fair prices, especially during happy hour.Happy hour for food is from 12-6pm and drinks are from 3-7pm. We love this spot!Check out Sushi Gama here.Dinner at Up Thai on 2nd AvenueThis is one of our favorite Thai spots in New York City! Up Thai is a slightly upscale Thai spot serving unique dishes, delicious duck options, and phenomenal cocktails.Their specials are worth trying and rotate with the seasons. Beef Shortrib Panang and Duck Tamarind are some of the best Thai dishes we've had. We recommend getting many dishes and sharing rather than everyone getting their own dish. The M&M (Magical Spicy Margarita) and the Lycheetini are our go-to cocktails. Vegetable Pad Thai has perfectly cooked, thick vegetables rather than the small/stringy veggies that typically come with Pad Thai.Check out Up Thai here.Dessert Option - Anita La Mamma del GelatoThere can be a line, especially in the summer, so plan on that, but it will be worth it. They have phenomenal gelato, and their waffle cones are a must-get!Check out Anita La Mamma del Gelato on the UES here.Download the full NYC Navigation & Transportation Guide here + join our newsletter here:https://rebrand.ly/nyc-navigation-guidePlease rate, review, and follow!

BIM Heroes Podcast Episode 10: The State of SUE (Subsurface Underground Engineering & Subsurface Utility Model.) In this episode, host Cody Whitelock talks with Aaron Goldstein, a geophysicist and expert in subsurface utility engineering (SUE) from Universal Engineering Sciences (UES), and Lera Cirlan, part of the virtual design consulting team at UES that creates 3D BIM models. They discuss the current state of SUE practices in the construction industry and the challenges companies face in accurately mapping underground utilities. Aaron and Lera also explore the future potential of integrating high-quality SUE data with building information modeling (BIM) from the very start of projects. This could allow for enhanced design coordination, utility clash detection, construction planning, and visualization for project stakeholders throughout the lifecycle. Show Highlights: Importance of SUE and Integrating with BIM: Aaron explains why accurate underground utility mapping is critical from the geotechnical engineering phase through construction. He highlights how utility strikes are a major liability and the challenges of existing utility networks. Aaron and Lera discuss the potential benefits of incorporating comprehensive, high-quality SUE data into BIM models for improved design coordination, clash detection, and visualisation. Current State of SUE Practices: The discussion covers the evolution of SUE from its beginnings in the 1980s to the latest geophysical techniques like ground penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetics, and acoustics being used UES's Approach to SUE and BIM Integration: Aaron provides an in-depth look at how UES is expanding into offering SUE services alongside its traditional geotechnical, construction materials, and other services Lera discusses her role in creating 3D BIM models from the comprehensive SUE survey data collected by Aaron. They discuss the process of integrating this accurate utility data into design models for enhanced visualization and coordination Future of SUE and BIM Coordination: Looking ahead, they consider what developing technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) could enable for utility mapping and model visualization. Aaron outlines his vision for SUE to become a seamless part of the BIM process from the very start of projects Listen to the BIM Heroes Podcast on: Spotify: http://evr.cm/spotify Apple: http://evr.cm/apple YouTube: http://evr.cm/youtube
Many people find their inboxes overflowing with generic emails and promotional content, all vying to grab their attention. But what separates an email that gets deleted from one that gets opened, sparks engagement, and drives results? Ultimately, effective emails prioritize value over promotion. It's finding and understanding your target subscribers and delivering value that addresses their needs. In this episode of Deliverability Defined, Alyssa and Melissa talk about the steps and strategies for creating effective emails. They provide practical tips on identifying the target audience, creating a value proposition, and reaching potential subscribers through lead magnets and social media strategies.Join us as we discuss:[01:32] - One of Alyssa's favorite content creators.[02:07] - The steps to writing an effective email.[09:33] - Popular strategies for Instagram and Pinterest.[12:59] - An effective Instagram strategy.[18:23] - Using lead magnets to grow an email list.[24:50] - The importance of clarity in writing emails.[26:52] - Why the size of your email list does not guarantee success.Key TakeawaysUnderstanding your target subscriber and their needs is crucial for creating valuable content.Ues lead magnets and strategic social media tactics to grow your email list.Creating a clear persona of the target subscriber, including their job, age, interests, and challenges, will help you deliver more value.Developing a value proposition that communicates the unique benefits offered to your ideal subscribers strengthens their understanding of your product or service. When writing emails, focus on providing value and addressing your subscriber's specific needs. This will increase engagement. Quotes"A lot of people think about their email as a bunch of random email addresses, and they are thinking about their goals. It's a much better strategy to reverse this thinking and get laser-focused on how to serve your audience. Then, you'll find way more success because you'll be serving people and giving them what they need." ~ Alyssa Dulin "If you have a lot of engagement on TikTok and Instagram because of the reels you do, but you don't have a newsletter or a website, you are missing out." ~ Melissa Lambert"Having this lens [a lead magnet and target subscriber] makes your life much easier. What is the "church"? Despite being a word that is widely and broadly used, there seems to be a lot of confusion around what the church, its role in society, and whether or not the church actually matters. More than ever, there seems to be a level of distrust and disdain toward the church.
There is much to learn from the Christmas story, but maybe more than anything is that the birth of the Messiah was an invitation to respond. Every person in the Christmas story that met Jesus couldn't help but stand in awe and respond in worship.
On Sunday, an e-bike caused the Bronx fire that killed one person and left 13 others injured. Keith Powers, New York City Council Member (District 4, Midtown Manhattan and UES), breaks down where and why e-bike lithium-ion battery fires happen and what policies are in the works in New York City to minimize risks.

I am pleased to have NYC real estate legend Elizabeth Ann Stribling Kivlan AKA EA Stribling on the the pod. EA is a born & raised, through & though 5th generation New Yorker. She attended the Chapin school in the UES, then as most NY'ers do, left the city to attend school at Holy Cross, then to SF to pursue a career outside of real estate and not live in NYC. Her first entry into real estate was with a top agent Pacific Union in SF where she cut her teeth learning the ins and outs of our business. But as many New Yorkers do, she found that there is no better place than NYC so upon her return back intoNYC, EA joined her family business Stribling & Associates where she helped build the brokerage with her family over the course of 24 years. About 4 years ago, compass acquired Stribling associates , then a firm that has closed $1.62B just in sell side deals with an agent count of around 270 agents and a robust new development division. We discuss all things NYC real estate, the state of the brokerage industry now, the past, and the future. Please Follow EA on: IG Linkedin and make sure to visit our Compass website

Living in New York City is attainable, but not without many learnings along the way. In this week's episode I sat down with Brittney Scardina, a new local to the city, who although did some extensive research before her move to NYC - she never saw the Ikea couch situation coming her way that would become one of her first #onlyinnewyork moments (like an episode of FRIENDS), and a pretty hilarious one yet, although not so funny when you're actually living it. Brittney was an absolute joy to speak with, she brought a different perspective and approach to her move to New York City and she'll share her tips in our interview. You can expect everything from:Why having a real estate agent/broker was pivotal to her move How research and visiting the city ahead of her move was so impactful for a smoother transitionHow coming with an open mind and a side of grit is a recipe for success in the cityAnd, why she choose the neighborhood she moved to plus so much more! You won't believe how lucky she got in getting her apartment in the height of the summer in 2022 when rent prices were soaring and the housing stock was limited post pandemic and everyone returning to the city.Tune in and let us know what you think or if you have a moving to New York story you'd like to share. Head on over to Georgie's Etsy page to commission some work from her. You really should, as she's blooming brilliant.Remember that you can always get in touch with us on our Facebook page, on Twitter, or with our Contact page. Don't forget to check the chapters tab in your podcatcher. This is a thing we're doing now, so keep an eye open for those. Here's a sample of the full show notes - make sure to click through and check them out.Content WarningSquidge was fully in charge of hosting, producing and editing this episode. As such, he decided to leave the few swears in the episode without bleeping them. This was done for comedy reasons, as we felt that there is very little in the episode which could offend most listeners. Please listen responsibly.Show NotesSquidge wanted to take a shiny new look at The Cupboard of Shame. The difference being that he wanted to invite some familiar voices onto the show, one at a time, and discuss one game that they want to jettison into the Cupboard of Shame. This being the third episode in the new series, he invited Sean "Rackham The Dancing Bugbear" O'Dell to yeet something into the devious - and totally real cupboard - cupboard. As a quick reminder, Squidge describes The Cupboard of Shame as:The idea behind it is games that you have bought in your past, played it, but you don't know why you bought [them] but you did anyway.Any complaints that you have about the game; why you want to stick it in the Cupboard of Shame. We'll talk about the good points and the bad points [of the game], and we'll share some fun facts about the game.- SquidgePrevious Entries into the Cupboard of ShameThe Cupboard of Shame reboot has only seen two entries so far: Chief Problems decided that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim needed to be stored behind the walnut doors of destiny in episode 136 Lulu wanted to jettison Chaos Legion to the nether realms of the electronically challenged cupboard in episode 138 Prior to the Cupboard of Shame reboot, Squidge had challenged both G and himself to put some titles into the Cupboard of Shame. The titles that they chose include: Iron Man the Movie Video Game WET Rambo: The Video Game Crackdown Final Fantasy XIII You can hear their discussion on these games (and a few more) in episode 47: The Cupboard of Shame - here's a link to that episode.Sean's Chosen GameBefore they discussed Sean's chosen game, Squidge asked for Sean to describe the show that he works on: Dungeons and Pop[Dungeons and Pop is] an actual play variety show. Because the players who run the main campaign are busy half the time, so we run multiple campaigns and one-shots.A lot of pop culture stuff. Like out main one is, basically fantasy Power Rangers; before the Power Rangers RPG came out, too.- SeanAnd with Sean's podcast description out of the way - to be fair, fantasy Power Rangers as an actual play sounds pretty cool - Squidge asked the all-important question: which game are we yeeting into the Cupboard of shame? It's kind of an older game, but it's one that a friend suggested.I was looking for a game to get when there was a game sale on Switch and a friend of mine, I told 'em that I liked Enter the Dungeon and rogue-likes like that. Nuclear Throne. And he suggested Risk of Rain 2.- SeanBut why did Sean buy the game? Had he read up about it before purchasing it, did he just go with what was listed on the Switch store page, or did he trust his friend's recommendation? What I found was kind of neat was that it was a 3D game with that kind of... running around, grabbing items, that kinda stood out. And the art style is, I don't want to say "simplistic", but it's pretty minimalistic... it's kind of solid colours on top of other colours.- SeanWhen it was first released, there was no intro sequence meaning that most players had to scramble to try and figure out what the story was. But Squidge had done some digging for us:What I can tell is:You are a captain who are hired by UES - which appear to be an intergalactic delivery company, kind of like FedEx, "you weren't in, so we left your package on the opposite side of the moon". And from what I can see, the whole thing is like a survival, monster killing thing, where you're picking up a scavenger hunt for packages, and there's boss monsters. That's all I can gather from it.- SquidgeWhat's So Bad About it?Any discussion of a bad game needs to cover what's so bad about the game. So Squidge asked, “what's so bad about this game?”When I first played it, the difficulty ramped up sooooooo fast.Because I was trying to level up by taking on hordes of enemies. But I was looking it up, and it was like, "you need to be able to run first,"... a lot of it is because you can't pick the other characters right away, so I was [playing as] the Commando. And it was a lot of, "you can't fire while running," and that kind of thing. So I would try to level it out, but I was getting overwhelmed. I'd be fighting a bunch of monsters, and there'd be another 15 in the background.- SeanIt seemed like one of those games where you have to turn to The Internet in order to get help on how to play it.Yeah. The thing I watched didn't really help that much. It's sort of like one of those things where you have to die a bunch of different times before you can get better, because you're going to level up from that. But you have to get to a certain point [first].It was a little easier when I revisited it, before we started recording. But I think that was because I'd unlocked another character.- SeanWhat Are Some Redeeming Features? It's never good to focus on the negative. So what's good about this game, or at least what redeems it slightly:There are a few [redeeming features].I like the items; some of them are built to help you. Like, I got one that's like, "oh, you get healing after you take damage." And then I got another one which was like, "as you kill someone, you get a temporary shield".And I think I preferred playing it this time [before recording] because I unlocked the archer which is more my style - sort of like a rogue ranger. And I like that it adds thing this where it's like, "oh, you can do this normal shot while you're sprinting," so you can run and hit them from a distance. And it's alternate attack is kind of like a boomerang.- SeanSo random buffs make up for a very high difficulty curve, and the lore and story are spread out throughout the game's files.Sponsor MessageGrab some popcorn and find your seats. Our Heavenly Father is proud of His children when they live and abide by His Kingdom principles. The challenge is that His Kingdom principles are often paradoxical in nature. On the surface, they seem contradictory, but when exercised we see that they lead to His Kingdom growing and advancing just as He intends.CONNECT WITH US ONLINE:On Instagram: https://instagram.com/metanycOn Facebook: https://facebook.com/metanycEmail: hello@metachurch.ccWeb: https://meta.church

Welcome to Rachel and Rabbi Daniel Kraus, co-directors of Community Education at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun in NYC's UES. We're discussing developing a mission together, pursuing careers apart, raising kids, building community, and making it all work.
Jesus says to you: Do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. The reason you don't need to worry is because of what Jesus says in the next verse: for your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Matthew 6:31-32 This is what Jesus said earlier in the Chapter in Matthew 6:8:When you pray Know your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. Matthew 6:7-8 For the Holy Spirit comes to your aid and Bears you up in your weaknesses; he knows you need His Help in Everything, so He comes alongside in your prayer to offer up your request worthily, when you're weak to give you strength when you lack the knowledge to give you understanding and wisdom. Because the Holy Spirit helps you, for he is your Helper. He Speaks to God on Your Behalf with Yearnings and Groanings Too Deep for Utterance. He Intercedes before God On Behalf Of You According to an in on me with God's will. (Psalms 139:1-2, Romans 8:26-27)So you can be assured and know that God being a partner in your labor, ministry or prayer that God is working all things work together and fitting them into a plan for good for you who love God and are called according to His design and purpose. Romans 8:28 Jesus asked the Father to give you another Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby like Him, Who would Remain with You Forever – the Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you constantly and will be in you. John 14:16-17 So with the Holy Spirit As Your Helper Now, Jesus Tells You to seek first formost, make it your chief aim to see the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, His way of doing and being right, which require God himself to give you the power and desire to do things his way and to please him. Matthew 6:33 Then Jesus says, you can rest assured the father will give you everything you need. God will take care of you liberally supplying all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to you in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19Ues, you the Holy Spirit Who is from God, given to you that you might realize and comprehend and appreciate the gifts of divine favor and blessing so freely and lavishly bestowed on you by God. Realizing You Have Nothing to Worry about. Because your father knows the things you have need of before you ask him. (1 Corinthians 2:12, Matthew 6:8, 33)And this is the confidence, the assurance, the privilege of boldnes which you have as a child of God in Christ: you are sure that God knowing everything you need, and the Holy Spirit offering your request to God as he knows God will fulfill, being the very spirit of God himself. You know your request was made according to the will of God, in agreement with his own plan, and he listens to you and here's you.And since you positively know that God listens to you and whatever you ask, knowing the Holy Spirit is presenting it to Him, Then You Also Know with settled and absolute knowledge that God grants to you as your present position the request you made of Him.(1 John 5:14-15 )Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them” (John 6:44). In other words, the only way we can seek God is if the Holy Spirit has first stirred our hearts with a desire for God. It is God who draws us to Himself. Ephesians 2:8 underscores this truth: “By grace are you saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God.” Even the faith to believe for salvation does not originate within our fleshly nature. God enables the fallen human heart to seek Him, when in our own self-centered rebellion we would never do so. Every good thing originates with God (James 1:17). Faith in God is a good thing, and so it also originates with God.SEEK GOD'S PRESENCE AT THE BEGINNING of your DAY, Connecting with Him Early Honors Him As First Place in your Life. Bowing Your Time Before the Father and the LORD Jesus Christ; yo Find He Strengthens with MIGHTY POWER in the Inner man by the Holy Spirit within you.- Eph 3:15-16Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!1 Chronicles 16:11
To encourage means to call to one's side; to help, console, or strengthen; or to instill courage in another person. The original Greek word is also translated as comfort in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) God has made you a world overcomer, and by His Divine Presence in you manifesting God's attributes through you, you have a reason to be hopeful in every situation and circumstance. For the Lord knows your circumstances, and he knows the answers that you need for every situation, he feels your compassion, your pain and your striggles, because He is “the Father of mercies” (2 Cor. 1:3) for your failures and weaknesses and distresses, and the giver of the grace to help in His perfect timing. The Lord has all power and authority in heaven and on earth; and He Governs everything, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things he governs, and all things are before him, and all things consist in him. (Colossians 1:16-18) and because he is omnipresent, He never leaves you nor forsakes, He Will Not! He Will Not! He Will Not, in Any Way disappoint you or leave you without aid or support work comfort or encouragement. (Hebrews 13:5)And your body being wholly filled and flooded with the Spirit of God, Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what you can even ask, think, hope or imagine, according to the working of His mighty power that works within you. (Ephesians 3:19) you can be encouraged that whatever you ask of him, He Hearing You, Give You the Desires of Your Heart.God is Omniscient. Since God possesses all knowledge, He has the answers to all your problems beforebyou ask Him (Matthew 6:8) and He is More than able to give you perfect guidance for every decision of life.Yes, Child of God you who God called, Christ in you is the Power of God and the Wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:24)Your life is now in Christ Jesus, (Galatians 2:20) Whom God has made your Wisdom from God to revealed to you a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as your Righteousness thus making you upright and putting you in right standing with God]l, and our Consecration making you pure and holy and our Redemption-providing your ransom from eternal penalty for sin. (1 Corinthians 1:39)God has promised to be Forever Faithful to you because His Nature Is Faithfulness. even if you are faithless, do not believe and are untrue to Him.
