Today's daf is sponsored by Rochelle Cheifetz in loving memory of her mother, Chana Cohen, Chana bat Rav Moshe and Tzipora Mashbaum, on her 4th yartzeit. "You graced us all with your glorious smile, innate wisdom and beautiful neshama. To say that you are missed every day is an understatement." Today's daf is for the refuah shleima of Elad ben Netta. The Gemara questions Rabbi Yochanan's statement that one only receives lashes for eating maaser sheni outside Jerusalem after it was brought into Jerusalem, based on a derivation from Rabbi Yosi's words ina braita. The Gemara resolves this difficulty by explaining the derivation from Rabbi Yosi's as referring to a case where the produce had already been brought into Jerusalem, and the innovation is that it entered while still being tevel (untithed produce), and he holds that gifts that have not been separated are considered as if they have been separated. However, the Gemara raises a difficulty with this resolution (because it seems R' Yosi doesn't actually hold this position). The Gemara then presents two answers from Rabba and Ravina to resolve this difficulty. One who makes a bald spot on his head as a sign of mourning for the dead, who rounds the corners of his head or destroys the hair on his beard, or who makes a cut in his flesh for the dead receives lashes. The Gemara discusses the details of these commandments and the minimum measurements for which one would be liable.

When I heard that a pediatric organization was so focused on mental health screenings in their office, my mind couldn't quite get around the need for mental health screeners for children. However, that's what made me particularly interested to sit down and talk with Shannon Fox-Levine MD, FAAP, President, Pediatrician, and Kimberly Brennan, Practice Administrator at Palm Beach Pediatrics. Their focus on keeping infants and young children safe both mentally and physically is admirable and a model for so many other pediatric organizations. Of course, here at Healthcare IT Today we were particularly interested in how they were using Yosi Health to administer these screenings along with improving the patient experience. Dr. Fox and Brennan highlight how the digital screenings through Yosi Health had a number of advantages. First, patients prefer filling out electronic forms at their convenience much more than paper forms on a clipboard in the office. Second, the digital screeners are integrated right into Palm Beach Pediatrics EHR so the data is readily available for the clinicians. Today, I have a wonderful conversation with Dr. Yosi Amram, author of Spiritually Intelligent Leaders: How to Inspire by Being Inspired. We talk about what spiritual intelligence is and how it compares to emotional intelligence, how it is not limited to a religious doctrine or even a spiritual belief in God, and how it contributes to effective leadership and high-performing teams. In this episode of Thought Leadership Leverage, host Bill Sherman sits down with Yosi Amram, a political psychologist, CEO, leadership coach, and the award-winning author of Spiritually Intelligent Leadership: How to Inspire by Being Inspired. Yosi delves into the concept of Spiritually Intelligent Leadership, a fresh take on leadership that integrates spiritual qualities like passionate purpose, compassionate service, trust, gratitude, integrity, and humility into daily life and work. Yosi's journey began in Israel, where he was drafted into the military at 18, despite his pacifist leanings. The rigid military structure fueled his desire to create a leadership model built on humane values that support individual growth. This desire led him to the U.S., where he studied at MIT, launched companies, and ultimately burned out from trying to maintain control and inspire simultaneously. His burnout sparked a deep interest in psychology and leadership, which introduced him to the idea of spiritual intelligence through Dana Zohar's book "SQ: Connecting With Our Spiritual Intelligence" which was about rewiring the corporate brain. Determined to explore this concept, Yosi interviewed 71 spiritual leaders from various traditions to uncover universal themes of spiritual intelligence. He developed the first academically validated measure of spiritual intelligence and discovered that it accounts for 46% of leadership effectiveness. Now, Yosi's mission is to elevate Spiritual Intelligence to the same level of recognition and understanding as Emotional Intelligence. Looking forward, Yosi is exploring the intersection of spirituality and science, faith and reason, and the evolving role of historical religious traditions in our modern world. His quest is personal as much as it is professional, as he navigates his own Jewish heritage and its relevance in contemporary leadership. Three Key Takeaways: • Spiritually Intelligent Leadership: Yosi Amram introduces Spiritually Intelligent Leadership as a new leadership model that integrates spiritual qualities such as purpose, compassion, trust, and integrity into everyday decision-making and leadership practices. • Universal Spiritual Themes: Through extensive research with spiritual leaders across various traditions, Yosi found that spiritual intelligence is a universal concept, with common virtues that transcend individual beliefs and contribute significantly to effective leadership. • Validated Impact: Yosi's studies show that spiritual intelligence accounts for 46% of leadership effectiveness, highlighting its critical role in both leadership success and overall quality of life, much like the established concept of Emotional Intelligence. Yosi has found a section of thought leadership that is both interesting and impactful. Is your thought leadership hitting the same mark? If you are unsure this article by Peter Winick might help answer that question.

Transformative leadership goes beyond emotional intelligence—it requires spiritual intelligence. In this episode, Dr. Yosi Amram, a distinguished psychologist and executive coach, introduces spiritual intelligence as essential for effective leadership. He emphasizes virtues like purpose, service, gratitude, compassion, and integrity, showing how they enhance well-being and leadership. Dr. Amram's research with diverse leaders reveals that these qualities are universally valued. He shares personal stories, illustrating how spiritually intelligent leadership infuses daily interactions with meaning, presence, and wisdom. True leadership, he argues, starts with self-leadership and aligning with inner values. Dr. Amram offers practical advice for maintaining spiritual intelligence amid external pressures, focusing on long-term goals, and building resilience. He highlights the benefits of spiritually intelligent leadership, including higher team commitment and better morale. This episode is a call to redefine leadership by grounding it in deeper values, promoting a humane and inspired approach to business and personal development. Quotes “Alignment means to live in integrity. We have to be in contact with our essence, with our spirit, because when we're not aligned, then we're divided. And that means we lose our power. So when we're out of integrity with ourselves, with our spirit, with our core values, we're actually weakened.” (18:59 | Dr. Yosi Amram) “We're not talking about spirituality as an experience or as a belief system, but we're talking about the embodiment of values that have now been validated in the fields of positive psychology and leadership—things like integrity, purpose, meaning, gratitude, and compassion to be very helpful in daily life. So my hope is that in the next 10 or 20 years, spiritual intelligence will be broadly understood as a valuable concept in our daily life, at home, at work, and everything else.” (45:01 | Dr. Yosi Amram) Links Learn more about Mike Horne on Linkedin Email Mike at mike@mike-horne.com Learn More About Executive and Organization Development with Mike Horne Twitter: https://twitter.com/mikehorneauthor Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mikehorneauthor/, LinkedIn Mike's Newsletter: https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/6867258581922799617/, Schedule a Discovery Call with Mike: https://calendly.com/mikehorne/15-minute-discovery-call-with-mike Learn more about Yosi Amram yosiamram.net https://www.linkedin.com/in/yosiamram/y/ https://www.facebook.com/yosi.amram.7 https://www.youtube.com/@awakeningspiritualintelligence Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

I was then able to work through them and not run away. One of the hardest emotions to feel is shame. I've carried my own shame and it's by being able to descend mindfully with presence into the dark that we are able to discover our sacred spark. Mindfulness is really the ability to go In and be open and be curious to these negative emotions. Thoughts On Breathing Breathing is one of the important things that help us connect to our life force. We feel our life force in two physiological ways. One is breath, and the other one is the heartbeat. If you look at many meditative practices, it's following the breath. It's calming and centering. There is an underlying principle: what is spirit? The word spirit in Latin comes from the root, the animating breath of Life. Bullying Story Regarding bullying, there are both sides. There is the bully, and then there is the victim of the bully. The bully is probably bullying because they don't know how to be skillful in order to get what they need. They also have a sense of shame or weakness underneath them that they are trying to cover. If they were more mindful, knew what was really motivating them, and addressed this inherent weakness that they're trying to cover up by being overly aggressive, then that would prevent them from bullying.
