Kristen Knecht helps people heal themselves through neuromuscular habits of the mouth and nose. Kristen earned a degree in psychology with a minor in biology, following her curiosity of what one thing was that could help improve everyone's health, she earned a second degree in dental hygiene. Continuing to seek out biological and functional healthcare practitioners and looking into ways the human body can heal itself she received training in nasal breathing, jaw growth and jaw function and is now an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist (OMT). What is Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy? OMT is a neuromuscular retraining of the mouth, jaw, tongue and throat muscles. You might think of it like mouth physical therapy. OMT works with all the muscles of the head, neck, mouth, and throat. When some muscles are not doing their jobs, other muscles must compensate. This leads to disfunction. Highlights from this conversation with Kristen: Breathing through the mouth activates the bodies emergency systems - fight flight. The importance of building muscles in the mouth, jaw, tongue and throat to support the overall function and flow in the body. Send signals of safety and calm to the brain by focusing on nasal breathing. The brain tells the body what to do via nerves. How to calm the nerves and send signals of safety to the brain. HRV's (heart rate variability) importance and connection to the vagus nerve. The importance of vagal tone. Feeling compassion, joy and reminding our faces that we are feeling these emotions can tell our brain to tell our heart that we are safe. RBF, that's just how we are, is that true or a sign that our vagus nerve needs attention? The importance of keeping the tongue to the spot on the roof of our mouth. Locked On Hoosiers - Daily Podcast On Indiana Hoosiers Football & Basketball
The Indiana Hoosiers are swinging big in the transfer portal by bringing in one of the top players in Oregon center Kel'el Ware. It's not the only new player the Hoosiers have reached out to as they're also targeting Northern Colorado guard Dalton Knecht. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) recaps the latest important news for the Hoosiers when it comes to transfers. Ware is a player that came out of nowhere to be not only linked to IU but take a visit as Bloomington could become the place he unlocks his immense potential. Knecht is much more of a known commodity as he's taking his fifth year of eligibility to potentially play with the Hoosiers. A wing with plenty of size, Knecht is a versatile player who can contribute in a number of ways offensively. The show wraps by catching up on the latest bits of transfer news. Chris Ledlum of Harvard is also on campus for IU on his official visit while Jamison Battle, a former Hoosiers target, committed to Ohio State. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! It's Trap Season in the midwest and we want to talk about it! And who better to talk with than an Olympic level shooter! Adam Knecht is back on the show to tell us about his experience as a boy and young man coming up in the Skeet Shooting circuit. We discuss how he traveled all over the world with the sport and dig into what exactly these sports are all about. We also talk about the specific differences between Trap and Skeet. Although similar sports, they have some very key differences.
Locked On Tar Heels - Daily Podcast On North Carolina Tar Heels Football & Basketball
Harrison Ingram just finished his second season playing for former UNC assistant Jerod Haase at Stanford and has decided to enter the transfer portal. Ingram is a 6'7, 230-pound SF, originally from Dallas, who came back to Stanford for his sophomore year after testing the NBA Draft. He's not the elite three-point shooter the Tar Heels need, but is a high-level distributor, dishing out 3.7 assists per game last season to lead the Cardinal. Ingram would be a great addition, but host Isaac Schade still wants UNC transfer Dalton Knecht (from the other UNC). Knecht would bring the higher level shooting that Ingram lacks, making the tandem a nice 1-2 punch at the ‘3', or guys who could potentially play simultaneous in a small ball lineup. Schade also provides updates on Nick Timberlake, Bobby Pettiford, Ian Jackson, and Boogie Fland. The 2024 Maui Invitational field is set, and the Tar Heels will make their regular every-four-years trip to the islands to compete Nov. 25-27. The rest of the field includes Auburn, Colorado, Dayton, Iowa State, Memphis, Michigan State, and UConn. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
Locked On Zags - Daily Podcast On Gonzaga Bulldogs Basketball
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are already connected to multiple players in the NCAA transfer portal, and we evaluate three who could be great fits for Mark Few's team in Spokane next season. First we discuss Oregon big man Kel'el Ware, who disappointed in year one with Dana Altman but offers elite rim protection and the potential to stretch the floor as well. Then we look at former JuCo All-American and 20 point scorer at Northern Colorado, Dalton Knecht, who would be an ideal replacement for Julian Strawther. We close discussing Jalen Cook, a high-scoring point guard from Tulane who could displace Nolan Hickman - would that cause issues in Spokane? Locked On Tar Heels - Daily Podcast On North Carolina Tar Heels Football & Basketball
Following Paxson Wojcik's commitment to UNC on Monday, the Tar Heels still have five open scholarships left to hand out ahead of the 2023-24 season. This is due to the outgoing six transfers – Caleb Love, Puff Johnson, Tyler Nickel, Dontrez Styles, Justin McKoy, and Will Shaver. One target is the “other UNC's” Dalton Knecht who is rated 5th in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings. Currently, Towson transfer Nick Timberlake is on campus for an official visit after Coach Davis completed a visit to his home in Massachusetts last week. Knecht would make a great addition as a high level scorer and a volume three point shooter who has made 37.3% of his career three-point attempts. Isaac Schade and Pac Kilby also answer the question: If you could have one of the six Carolina transfers back, who would you take and why? Kilby selects Dontrez Styles while Schade takes Tyler Nickel. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Neues Jahr. Wunderbar.

We're excited to talk with McCall Knecht of Berkey Filters, a sponsor of One Life Radio, for the full hour today. Drinking clean water is important for every day, and it's imperative during a natural disaster. We were all horrified to see the trail of destruction brought on by Hurricane Ira a few weeks ago, damage which will take months to rebuild and repair. We felt it important to discuss ways to ensure you have access to clean drinking water during a disaster. The most basic need for human survival is clean drinking water. A Berkey Filter removes all the harmful ingredients in water without the need for electricity. We also touch on the dangers of PFA's, or “forever chemicals” in our water supplies. Companies have used these chemicals for years, knowing they will be here “forever” because they don't biodegrade in nature, or in our bodies. You can see where the most PFA contaminations are found on this website. Then, find out what's in your water supply with Berkey Filter's Water Quality Search (created in partnership with the Environmental Working Group, or EWG).And, visit Berkey Filter to check out their line of water filters. Learn how you can help support PETA's efforts at peta.org.Next, we're excited to talk with McCall Knecht of Berkey Filters, a sponsor of One Life Radio, regarding the safety of our drinking water. Most of us have heard of the conditions in Mississippi after a flood. They had no drinking water, or even water to flush their toilets. What would you do in that situation? A Berkey Filter doesn't need electricity, and can easily be used to provide clean drinking water during a power outage or mechanical failure at your city water plant. It's also a must if you want healthy, clean drinking water every day. Find out what's in your water supply with Berkey Filter's Water Quality Search (created in partnership with the Environmental Working Group, or EWG). Vision plus action is what changes the world. One without the other . Paola Knecht talks with Amy Dix about the success mindset starting with confidence and getting past what we offer as external reasons for others success. Its not about the money we start with, or natural talent; its a decision we have to make for ourselves. Success isn't handed out, it's up for grabs. Success doesn't have a specific shape, size, or form. We all have our own definition of success, but oftentimes, we get swayed by what we see on social media. It can unconsciously influence us. So how can you avoid this hazard, and really commit to the life you've always envisioned for yourself? Paola Knecht is a certified leadership, transformational, and self-development coach. She is the founder of My Mindpower Coaching & Consulting and author of the new book, The Success Mindset: Take Back the Leadership of your Mind. In this episode, Paola talks about what success is and how we can shift our definition of success to something that we are passionate about instead of what we see from others. What you will learn from this episode: Find out how you can define your own success story instead of letting others define it Learn powerful questions you can reflect on that can help you know more about what you really want Understand the importance of having a vision in defining your own success “To really reach something you want, it is not enough to just recognize you're good at something, you have to work at it.” - Paola Knecht Valuable Free Resource: How to set straight your vision and take back your life in order to write the success story you've always wanted to achieve: https://paolaknecht.lpages.co/the-success-mindset/ Topics Covered: 01:45 - To discover the meaning of your life, and your vision and something that goes beyond the race of accumulating things: Paola's definition of what success really is 02:40 - Discovering the meaning of life and avoid losing the essence of yourself by looking inward instead of outward 03:44 - Paola explains why and how social media and other's lifestyle contributes greatly to our own definition and understanding of success 06:49 - What are the things you love about yourself, your life and what do you love doing: Questions you can reflect on to define a vision of your life 08:13 - Not believing that you can make it: The biggest obstacle that gets in our way when making our goals a reality 09:26 - Paola shares the eighth pillar from her book and why talent alone won't get you far, hard work will 11:11 - Take a break and some time offline: What you can do to start your journey to self-discovery and make your vision a reality 12:32 - Connect with Paola and see what she has to offer: my-mindpower.com 13:13 - One valuable free resource to help you on the road to self-discovery and take back the leadership of your mind: https://paolaknecht.lpages.co/the-success-mindset/ 14:06 - A sprinkle of love and great advice from Paola and her book: You can and have the power to define your success story. And to not let other people tell you what these should look like. You can write your own story and find transcendence in doing it. Takeaways: “Success, when I come back to the essence of it, it's really to discover the meaning of your life, to discover your vision, something that goes beyond the race of accumulating things, or following a path that you did not consciously choose for yourself.” - Paola Knecht “You have to look inward, instead of outward. We are distracted.” - Paola Knecht “I believe, over time-- all these have a root cause. And I believe one of those is that we spend way too much time comparing ourselves to other lives and not paying enough attention to ourselves first.” - Paola Knecht “It all starts with really going back to the basics and asking yourself, "What do I really love about my life, about me?” - Paola Knecht “If I have an awareness about the things I love doing, and they are meaningful for me, then how can I connect that passion with some activity that I enjoy? Or how can I connect that to bring service to others?” - Paola Knecht “We all have talents and bizarre gifts that come inherited and they are wonderful. And it's also great when we discover them and they can really bring us great surprises.” - Paola Knecht “It's really about not underrating the value of hard work because that's what really brings you far.” - Paola Knecht “To take the conscious decision to basically lockout, to take some time offline, and really take more time to discover who you really are, and what you're after.” - Paola Knecht “If we really want to know ourselves better, we also have to invest time to know ourselves better.” - Paola Knecht “You have the power to take back your own life. And for this is really to make the conscious decision to go on that journey of self-discovery. You can and have the power to define your success story. And do not let other people tell you what these should look like. You can write your own story and find transcendence in doing it.” - Paola Knecht Ways to Connect with Paola Knecht: Website: https://www.my-mindpower.com/ Ways to Connect with Sarah E. In this interview, Ralph shares his own perspectives on many of the topics that Dr. Christian Greer and I had discussed in Episode 19 ('Etic Examinations'). He shares his own background in occultism, 'the state of things' in Germany in the 1970s and -80s, as well as the change in perspective with the introduction of the 'Anglo' or British perspective about occultism and chaos magic. He also talks about his viewpoints regarding the concepts of 'gnosis' and 'shamanism' as they relate to chaos magic, how he feels about 'rationalist' thinkers such as Theodor Adorno, and highlights some of his own works. In my opinion, Ralph gives a very interesting overview of how he, as a practitioner, things about magic and how magic works for people who practice it. A very special thanks to Friedemann Rimbach-Sator for the inspiration behind the 'chaos magic' episodes, and for introducing me to Ralph Tegtmeier. On today's episode; Steve sits down with Roger Knecht, President of Universal Accounting Center to discuss the ways in which both firms' distinction between tax planning and tax preparation helps their clients stay ahead of the game with proven strategies for your business! Episode Transcript Intro: You're listening to the Practical Tax podcast with tax attorney Steve Moskowitz. The Practical Tax podcast is brought to you by Moskowitz LLP, a tax law firm. Steve Moskowitz: Welcome to everyone. And we're looking forward to another podcast, and we're looking forward to tell you all the benefits you can have for your tax return. And it's a shame, 'cause most people, they think about their tax return, and they think about, well, that's some guy movin' the numbers from one place to another. And you know what? We're already laughin', there's so much more to it. And in addition to savin' you taxes, this also helps you to run your business. So, what I'd like to do is go ahead ask our guest to introduce himself and tell us all about you. Roger Knecht: Happy to. First of all, Steve, thank you for having me on the webinar or podcast here. The idea is, I'm Roger Knecht, President of Universal Accounting Center, and I've worked with accounting professionals for more than 20 years now, helping them run and operate their businesses. And the advice, the suggestions that I hope to offer today are meant to help you build a better relationship with the accounting and tax professionals that you're interacting with, as you run your businesses and live your lives. Steve Moskowitz: Excellent. And what we're gonna do is go ahead and say, so somebody knocks on your door and says, "Hi, how can you save me money? "What's the secret, what do the big boys do?" What would you tell 'em? Roger Knecht: Well, the big boys have a variety of strategies that some of us lessers don't necessarily have access to, but I can give you the distinction that I think we should start with, in that there's a difference between tax planning and tax preparation. I think one of the first errors that we need to recognize is, whether we're individually or as a business, looking at the taxes, we need to realize that December 31st for most things is kind of a drop dead date, and too often what happens, whether either individually or with our companies, we fail to realize that tax season isn't April 15th or maybe some other tax deadline. It literally is the end of the calendar or fiscal year, and so anything we can do with the tax preparer before those deadlines to mitigate our tax liabilities is very prudent. It's smart, it's important. Sit down with someone and actually kind of come up with a strategy, a plan of how you're going to mitigate your tax liabilities. Steve Moskowitz: And that's so true, and that's so important. And that 12/31 deadline, I call it 12/31 Year One, is so important, and so many things do have to be done by 12/31 Year One, however, there's some exceptions. A lot of the pension plans allow you to go ahead and create them and fund them up to the time of filing the return plus extension, so that's something you can do in Year Two that will save you taxes in Year One. And another thing is amended tax returns. A lot of times clients will come into our office, and I'm sure the same with yours, and you say, "Well, you can do this and this and this." And they invariably say, "Oh, is that new this year?" And I say, "No, it's been around for years." And they say, "Well, how come my last person didn't do that?" And we say, "Well, that's why you're here." And then, we can go back and amend the federal return for the last three years. So sometimes, it's not only about saving money for the current year, but going back three years on the federal return. And if you're in a state that has a state income tax, amending that one as well, and there's different statute of limitations for those states. So Roger, tell me some other things,

Biden administration is teasing a new round of student debt cancellation and relief. The Education department said on Tuesday that this could mean debt cancellation for about 40,000 borrowers and three years of additional credit for more than 3.6 million borrowers seeking income-driven repayment. That could add another boost to the economy and the long-term well-being of tens of thousands of Americans. Bankrate study. The woman behind the “Libs of TikTok” Twitter account has been outed in new reporting by Taylor Lorenz in the Washington Post. Lorenz reports that Chaya Raichik, a real estate salesperson in Brooklyn, is behind the account which has spread “groomer” conspiracy theories on social media and has the ears of right-wing lawmakers such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Jeffrey Yass, the head of Susquehanna International Group, and the deep-pocketed right-wing political funder is officially the richest man in Pennsylvania, according to a new analysis by ProPublica. He has collected an average of $1.3 billion a year in annual income from 2013 - 2018. Only five other Americans earned more. This morning the New York Times released a report that reviewed 21 of Florida's rejected math books. Florida's Dept. of Education reported that the rejected books contained “prohibited topics” such as critical race theory and social emotional learning. Only four pages were released by the Dept as examples; one contained a problem set that used statistical data from the Race Implicit Association Test. Court challenges were filed by a Lycoming County resident calling for the removal of Doug Mastriano and Scott Perry from ballots for next month's primary because of their participation in the January 6th Capitol insurrection. Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) is looking to sell off two of the luxury dorms at Edinboro University that were completed just 10 years ago and featured quite prominently in my early reporting at Raging Chicken. “Wall Street on the Susquehanna: PASSHE Bond Scheme Bleeds Education Budget for Beautiful Buildings” Palisades made headlines again! The Herald ran a piece last week about Palisades reconsidering a live streaming option for school board meetings! The option to live stream meetings would cover both regular bi-monthly board meetings as well as committee meetings. And Amy was doing some phone backing last night for Alexandra Hunt.
