This week on the Everything Actioncast, whoever wins, we lose because we're talking about 2004's AVP: Alien vs. Predator, which came out 20 years ago this week. There's also a new Alien movie, Alien: Romulus, in theaters right now.Directed by schlockmeister Paul WS Anderson, AVP: Alien vs Predator pits the two intergalactic entities against each other in an Antarctic pyramid discovered by Weyland Industries. The company's head, Charles Weyland (Lance Henriksen) wants to claim the structure in his name as one last grand action before he dies from a terminal disease and he assembles a team that includes scientists, drillers and Alexa Woods (Sanaa Lathan), an expert guide in arctic environments. The group explores the pyramid but soon finds themselves caught between the Xenomorphs and the Predators, with the pyramid being a training ground for young Predator warriors to prove themselves or die in a rite of passage. Zach and Chris discuss how there was over a decade of hype for this battle from the comics and games, the lack of any interesting kills thanks to the PG-13 rating, how the Antarctic environment doesn't affect anything, how quickly most of the Predators die, and more. You can watch AVP: Alien vs Predator on Hulu. Next week, we're talking about John Woo's action classic The Killer as the new version, also directed by Woo, hits Peacock. We want to hear your comments and feedback. Original Airdate 2/4/14Sean Comer and Mark Radulich welcome author Jason Offutt back for the final installment of our 3 week Alien/Predator series, Alien vs Predator!Alien vs. Predator (stylized as AVP: Alien vs. Predator) is a 2004 science fiction action film written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, and starring Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, Lance Henriksen and Ewen Bremner. It is the first film installment of the Alien vs. Predator franchise, adapting a crossover bringing together the eponymous creatures of the Alien and Predator series, a concept which originated in a 1989 comic book. Anderson wrote the story together with the creators of the Alien franchise, Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, and Anderson and Shane Salerno adapted the story into a screenplay. Their writing was influenced by Aztec mythology, the comic book series, and the writings of Erich von Däniken. In the film, scientists are caught in the crossfire of an ancient battle between Aliens and Predators as they attempt to escape a bygone pyramid.Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (stylized as AVPR: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem) is a 2007 American science fiction action film directed by the Brothers Strause (Colin and Greg Strause) in their directorial debut and written by Shane Salerno. The film stars Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz, Johnny Lewis and Ariel Gade.It is a sequel to Alien vs. Predator (2004), and the second and latest installment in the Alien vs. Predator franchise, continuing the crossover between the Alien and Predator franchises. Set immediately after the events of the previous film, the film begins with a Predator ship crashing into a forest outside of Gunnison, Colorado, where an Alien-Predator hybrid known as the Predalien escapes and makes its way to the nearby small town. A skilled veteran Predator is dispatched to kill the Predalien, and the townspeople try to escape the ensuing carnage.Title card art by Benjamin J Colon @EpicBenjaminJ on all the things: Twitter, Instagram, Twitch, and Youtube

Hey Listener, this show was to big to be just one episode so here is part II which focuses on AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004), Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (2007), Predators (2010), The Predator (2018), and Prey (2022). Paul WS Anderson sucks. Everyone should watch the early 90's classic Stone Cold and watch a komodo dragon eat a candy infused protein shake. Double barrel chin. Cody goes on a tangent about his love for AVP. Pawl wants that human blood and your host pitches his theory on why kids could watch R rated in the 80s, but not the 90s movies. Let Genndy Tartakovsky create an AVP animated film. Are we going to see Predator/human sex? Do you want Pawl to like your movie; then kill a kid. Dropping a nuke in the continental 48. Robert Rodriguez and a killer cast makes Predators an incredible movie. The Devil's Rejects side rant. How does this lady know about the first Predator movie and stumbling upon Laurence Fishburne. Attempting to toothbrush shank a Predator. Seeing a movie in theaters vs. seeing it at home. Cody leaves to get an energy drink, pee, and then come back in to crap all over John Wick. The Predator: Shane Black hires a registered sex offender, doesn't understand how Autism works, and makes fun of Tourettes all in one film. “That's my new suit, Bubba. I hope they have it in a 42 Long” and a talking Predator. GROAN! A Monster energy drink fueled Stanley Kubrick side rant. Is the Predator to OP in 1700's? Ranking the worst of the White guys. Cody Hucker: Third Wave Feminist. What Predator movie concept would you like to see next?

History we have a multiple part episode as we fully break down the entire Predator collection. Topics this week include: Ric Flair. Pawl: Horror trivia host and awesome bartender. Yautja noises. We all love Schwarzenegger movies. DVD Easter Eggs. Your host will die on the hill of The Running Man. The cast of Predator. The Terminator is about to be the President?!?! Listening to Little Richard to get hyped to murder dudes. The Predator is worse than kicking a bird. Where can you get a minigun backpack? Having great one liners after you killed a man. When the hunters become the hunted. Will Arnold win this fight? Talking Danny Glover with Pawl again and Bill Paxton with Cody again. A side tangent about Ice T's Surviving the Game. In 1997 everyone has OP guns. Living in a pornless hellscape. Collecting Masters degrees. Killing a subway car of people. The  Predator proves he is a Pro Life Conservative. You have to suspend disbelief if you're going to watch Predator 2. Popping the trunk like Yelawolf. Gold Bond and hemorrhoids. Riding the Hellavator to the Predator's foggy spaceship.

Whoever wins... we lose. That's what the poster for AVP: Alien Vs Predator proclaimed and that's certainly how most audiences probably felt walking out of the theater. That was almost two decades ago though and now that we've sat through some of the subsequent entries in both of these franchises... is this one really that bad? We decided to investigate. Topics include: the original Dark Horse Comics mini-series, why it took over ten years to bring this concept to the big screen, how AvP disrupted plans for an Alien 5 written by James Cameron and directed by Ridley Scott, the internet's reaction to Paul W.S. Anderson being hired to helm this, the PG-13 rating and other studio mandates that seemed to immediately handicap the film, controversial changes to the look of the Predators, how the first act of this is legitimately pretty solid (and surprisingly similar to Prometheus), the future of both franchises and whether or not there's room for more AvP crossovers, and much more! These are bidding and commanding words by which all who would be Christians are enjoined to partake of this Sacrament. Therefore, whoever would be a disciple of Christ, with whom He here speaks, must also consider and observe this, not from compulsion, as being forced by men, but in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ, and to please Him. 46] However, if you say: But the words are added, As oft as ye do it; there He compels no one, but leaves it to our free choice, answer: 47] That is true, yet it is not written that we should never do so. Yea, just because He speaks the words, As oft as ye do it, it is nevertheless implied that we should do it often; and it is added for the reason that He wishes to have the Sacrament free, not limited to special times, like the Passover of the Jews, which they were obliged to eat only once a year, and that just upon the fourteenth day of the first full moon in the evening, and which they must not vary a day. As if He would say by these words: I institute a Passover or Supper for you which you shall enjoy not only once a year, just upon this evening, but often, when and where you will, according to every one's opportunity and necessity, bound to no place or appointed time; 48] although the Pope afterwards perverted it, and again made a Jewish feast of it."- Medieval relics - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relic#Relics_and_pilgrimage- Mariana Trench - http://www.marianatrench.com/mariana_trench-oceanography.htm- Face/Off (1997) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119094/- Last Action Hero (1993) Soundtrack - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107362/- Augsburg Confession   - Baptism - http://www.bookofconcord.org/augsburgconfession.php#article9   - Lord's Supper - http://www.bookofconcord.org/augsburgconfession.php#article10   - Absolution - http://www.bookofconcord.org/augsburgconfession.php#article12   - Preaching the Gospel - http://www.bookofconcord.org/augsburgconfession.php#article7.2- Small Catechism - http://www.bookofconcord.org/smallcatechism.php- Marburg Colloquy - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marburg_Colloquy- Ecumenical Movement - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barmen_Declaration - “Councils can err” - Luther - https://lutheranreformation.org/history/on-the-councils-and-the-church/- Easter Vigil baptisms - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Vigil - Coexist - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coexist_(image)- Episode 73: Confirmation, Catechesis, & Pentecost · Higher Things - http://higherthings.org/resources/simulcast/shows/73-confirmation-catechesis-pentecost- AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0370263/?ref_=nv_sr_1 - Nicolai Tesla - http://teslasociety.com/biography.htm- Issues Etc Interviews - http://issuesetc.org/guest/norman-nagel/- Logia Nagel Sermon MP3s - https://logia.org/mp3-cds/in-the-name-of-jesus-sermons-by-norman-e-nagel

That's right, this time on Planet 8, we take on that ugly mutha f#@%! -The Predator! An iconic creature design, and a classic original film, your crew takes a look at not only that first film, but the maybe not so great films that followed! The 1987 Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is one of the great sci fi action films, but the Predator itself went through many changes before we got the amazing alien hunter we see on screen. We'll go through all the mis-fires and how we eventually got the brilliant design from legendary Stan Winston and his team. Of course, you have to bring the suit to life, and we can't forget the portrayal of the Predator by the late Kevin Peter Hall. He gave the Predator a real sense of intelligence and personality. The first film also featured a very entertaining cast as the special crack team of commandos. Besides Arnold as the leader, Dutch, there was Jesse Ventura, Bill Duke, Sonny Landham, and Carl Weathers. This strong set of characters contributes to the enjoyment of the film, so that the viewer is glued to the screen even when the Predator is not around. Predator moves from action film to sci fi to horror and back around again, but does it flawlessly, with perfect pacing, keeping the suspense going in the early parts, right up to the final battle between Dutch and the Predator. It's hard to find fault in this film. Even Alan Silvestri's score is perfect! However, the subsequent cinematic appearances of the Predator have never measured up to the first one. Predator 2, with Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Ruben Blades, Maria Conchita Alonso, and Bill Paxton, was set in Los Angeles in 1997 (released in 1990) and featured a new predator hunting in the sweltering city. While it's still fun seeing the Predator, it just isn't as interesting as the original. The cast doesn't gel as well. But there are some cool bits, especially towards the end when Glover faces the Predator and enters his spaceship. The further we get away from the original, the more the quality suffers. AVP -Alien vs. Predator - seems like a sure fire concept, but it was a bit of a mess. AVP:Requiem -well, we didn't even rewatch it! 2010's Predators is somewhat entertaining, but we all agree, Adrien Brody was miscast as the tough special forces guy. It had some nice variations on the basic predator design though. But the worst of all the follow ups was 2018's The Predator - there are stories that this film was heavily rewritten and edited, but even so, good lord, what a terrible film. While not an official Predator film, a flick we do love is the short film Batman: Dead End, which features the Dark Knight versus both Predators and Aliens. You can see it here on YouTube. Will anyone ever be able to make another truly terrific Predator movie? What would it take? Is it just a limited concept? What do you think? For our Sensor Sweep this time, Recon Office Karen shares one of her beloved pieces from her collection, her Sideshow Legendary Scale Bust of the unmasked Predator. This was produced in 2011 and is still available from certain stores and on eBay. It's about 16" high and has all the fine detail we've come to expect from Sideshow. So if you're a big fan of the Predator, you might want to hunt it down! That's all for this time. Let us know what you think of the different Predator films, and what we discussed in this episode.Twitter: https://twitter.com/Planet8CastFacebook: www.Facebook.com/Planet8PodcastRemember: If it bleeds, we can kill it!

Well we've done it, but at what cost? This episode covers the two films in the quite frankly very bad AVP franchise - 'Alien V Predator', and 'AVP: Requiem' and as is tradition, it's a drinking game doozy. Alien vs. Predator (also known as AVP: Alien vs. In the film, scientists are caught in the crossfire of an ancient battle between Aliens and Predators as they attempt to escape a bygone pyramid. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (also known as AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem) is a 2007 American science fiction action film directed by the Brothers Strause (Colin and Greg Strause) in their directorial debut and written by Shane Salerno. The film stars Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz, Johnny Lewis, and Ariel Gade. It is a sequel to Alien vs. Predator (2004), and the second and latest installment in the Alien vs. Predator franchise, continuing the crossover between the Alien and Predator franchises.

With a promising idea to have Predator's hunt Alien's as a rite of passage, Chris and Dave look at whether this movie lived up to initial promise. Plot Summary: When a private satellite encounters an unidentified source of heat in Antarctica and it is found to be a pyramid buried deep underground , a search team comprising of top-of-the-line archaeologists and engineers is sent to Antarctica to find out more . Once there , the team comes across signs which indicate that the place is inhabited by an unknown alien species . It is not long before the aliens begin to hunt the team members . At the same time , a trio of coming-of-age Predators have arrived to collect the skulls of the aliens as trophies , and the humans are caught between a deadly battle between the two warring species. A Vicious Punishment: Alien vs Predator is on the docket this week. What happens when you take two of the most beloved franchises of all time and hand them over to a horrid director and also let him write the movie? Well, the movie sucks that’s what.  Faceless bland characters, neither franchise honored properly and a super sonic sled are the result of this travesty. Don’t worry though, our two humble heroes take this movie apart in all of the ways that were not only necessary but absolutely deserved so Get to the Podcast.

Today on The Neil Haley Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley and Sara Bella will interview Marshal Hilton of Primal Rage. Lost deep in the forest of the Pacific Northwest, Ashley and Max Carr are stalked by a terrifying creature that might be Bigfoot.  Soon they find themselves embroiled in a strange land of Native American myth and legend turned real.  Hopelessly trying to survive, with a handful of unsavory locals, they must fight back against this monster in a desperate battle of life or death. If you thought you knew the Bigfoot legend, think again as Fathom Events and Blue Fox Entertainment are set to bring “PRIMAL RAGE – Bigfoot Reborn” to movie theaters nationwide on Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00pm local time. Directed by special effects master Patrick Magee (“Men in Black 3,” “Spider-Man,” “AVP: Alien vs. Predator”), the movie follows a newly reunited young couple as their drive through the Pacific Northwest turns into a hellish nightmare. After viewing the bloodcurdling feature, moviegoers will be treated to an exclusive Q&A and behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film with Magee and producer Angela Lee, hosted by a special guest. Additionally, attendees will receive a free commemorative mini poster (while supplies last). Official Trailer: https://youtu.be/Mv0a-7FY5g4

The Tuesday Lunch Series welcomes Diana Mafe, associate professor of English, presenting “Where No Black Woman Has Gone Before: Subversive Portrayals in Speculative Film and TV.” Mafe’s newly published book examines representations of black womanhood and girlhood in new millennial British and American speculative film and television. The movies and shows in question which include “28 Days Later,” “AVP: Alien vs. Predator,” “Children of Men,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Firefly,” and “Doctor Who: Series 3,” have never been read together or primarily through their portrayals of black femininity. However, each case study includes a subversive black female character in its main cast. Although black women have a long cinematic history of being stereotyped or simply erased on screen, Mafe’s book showcases twenty-first-century examples that challenge or complicate that history through the speculative genre. “Where No Black Woman Has Gone Before” draws on critical race, postcolonial, and gender theories to explore each film and show, to place the black female characters at the center of the analysis, and to demonstrate the agency of these characters. But the book is also intended to be accessible, rather than alienating, to mainstream readers who are interested in horror, science fiction, and fantasy. During her talk, Mafe will discuss the overall scope and relevance of her book, read a short excerpt and answer questions. A few copies will be available for purchase at the event.
