The book of Revelation is the most difficult book to understand in the NT. As a result, there are varying philosophies as to why the book was written, what it means and if what is taught applies to us today. Evangelist Alan Hitchen joins us to talk about how we should approach studying the book and to give warnings about its interpretation. We will discuss: How the book demands restraint How many interpret the book and the consequences John's warning from the Holy Spirit Boundaries when interpreting biblequestions.org
In this episode of Luke21, Steve Wood unpacks Revelation 10, the interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpets. As a mighty angel descends with one foot on the sea and the other on land, Scripture reminds us that God's sovereignty extends over all creation—even during tribulation and the rise of the Antichrist. Steve also explores the command for St. John to “eat the scroll” before prophesying, showing why true prophecy requires internalizing God's word. Drawing from Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Pope Benedict XVI, he warns against shallow substitutes for authentic preaching and emphasizes the urgent need for prophetic voices today—in families, parishes, and youth groups. BABYLON IS BURNING! Picture the glittering capital of corruption—draped in gold, drunk on the blood of saints—turning to ash in a single, shocking hour as kings wail, traders watch their profits vaporise and angels shout, “Fallen, fallen!”. This episode uncovers the explosive exposé behind the scarlet-clad seductress of Revelation 17, reveals how empires cannibalise themselves, and asks: will you stay for the pyrotechnics or heed the call to “come out of her” before the final bell tolls? For first-century churches—and today's listeners—the fall of Babylon signals that oppressive powers are temporary, while the Lamb's kingdom is permanent.Resources"Revelation (NIV Application Commentary)" by Dr Craig Keener– A detailed analysis that bridges the historical-cultural context and application for today."The IVP Bible Background Commentary: New Testament" by Dr Craig Keener – Offers essential historical and cultural insights on the New Testament, including Revelation."Discipleship on the Edge" by Darrell W. ALAN MULHERN: The Quest & Psychotherapy (Jungian Approach to Healing)
The Christian apocalyptic tradition is explored, focusing on the prophecies and warnings of the Gospels and the Book of Revelation. These texts contain a dramatic narrative of cataclysmic events: the end days, the Second Coming, the Rapture, the chosen few, the final judgment, Armageddon, the defeat of Satan, and the reign of Christ's kingdom. This tradition has provided a reference point for Western civilization across the millennia and is still active today. Its archetypal content is emphasized, as well as its psychological roots.
In this sermon by Pastor Chris Romig, the focus is on praying for revival and understanding the coming judgment described in Revelation 8. Chris urges the church to earnestly seek God's intervention for personal and communal revival, trusting in God's power. He provides a recap of their ongoing study in Revelation, highlighting the escalating severity of God's judgments: the breaking of seals, and now the sounding of trumpets which bring wide destruction upon the earth, sea, fresh waters, and skies. Chris explains the strong biblical symbolism of trumpets as instruments of both warning and judgment. He references the parallels between the Revelation judgments and the plagues of Egypt, suggesting these events are literal and future, not just symbolic or historical. Importantly, Chris frames these judgments as a form of God's grace providing a final wake-up call for humanity to repent before it's too late. Despite these sobering warnings, Chris assures believers they do not need to fear. He draws comfort from the promise of the rapture: just as God spared His people in Exodus, He will deliver Christians from the worst of tribulations. Chris concludes with encouragement to urgently share the hope of the gospel and to rest in the assurance that God's judgments ultimately serve to set His people free and establish final justice.
Why do we believe what we believe when it comes to the Bible and the different doctrines it entails? Is it through humble hearts and asking the the Holy Spirit to guide us in our reading of God's Word, or did we just merely adopt something that may seem more traditional and “man-made”? Today's sermon on the rapture is not meant to offend anyone and their beliefs, but challenge people in their discernment in their understanding of the Bible. Regardless of what you believe when it comes to this topic, do you break fellowship because of conflicting views? Does the doctrine produce a “bad fruit” in you towards others? Please listen.
In her teaching on Revelation chapter 18, Marilyn Hickey unpacks the fall of Babylon as a prophetic picture of the collapse of worldly systems built on pride, greed, and rebellion against God. She explains how Babylon represents a corrupt spiritual and economic power that will be judged and brought down in a single hour. Hickey highlights the contrast between trusting in man's wealth versus relying on God's eternal kingdom. This message encourages believers not to be shaken by end-time events, but to stand firm in Christ, knowing that while the world's systems may fall, God's people are secure in His unshakable kingdom. Jaggy, Tedi, and I thank you for listening. Please SHARE!
In this episode of Luke21, host Steve Wood unpacks Revelation 9 and the fifth trumpet judgment, where the abyss is opened and a wave of demonic darkness covers the world. Drawing from Genesis 6, 2 Peter, Jude, and the Catechism, Steve shows how fallen angels, ancient deception, and apocalyptic imagery reveal a return of spiritual darkness before Christ's final triumph. Today, we're diving into a powerful question: Why should we study the book of Revelation?Let's be honest, Revelation can feel intimidating. With its vivid imagery, mysterious symbols, and prophetic language, it's one of the most misunderstood books in the Bible. But here's the truth: Revelation isn't meant to confuse it is meant to reveal. In fact, it's the only book in the Bible that begins with a promise of blessing to those who read, hear, and keep what is written in it.Revelation gives us a clear picture of Jesus not just as the Lamb who was slain, but as the victorious King who is coming again. It reminds us that history isn't random. It's moving toward a God-ordained conclusion where justice is served, evil is defeated, and God dwells with His people forever.Revelation calls us to live with urgency, faithfulness, and hope. It helps us see beyond today's chaos and into God's ultimate plan. Studying it keeps our eyes on eternity and our hearts anchored in Christ.Welcome to our Reveal podcast,To support this ministry and help us continue our God-given mission, click here:Subscribe to our channel for the latest sermons:https://www.youtube.com/@revealvineyardLearn more about Vineyard Church Reveal Campus:https://www.revealvineyard.com/Follow us on social media!Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/vineyardrevealcampus Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/RevealVineyard
Everyone thinks they know what heaven looks like - there will be golden streets, pearly gates, and massive mansions. But what if our entire understanding of our eternal reward has been completely backwards? What if the real treasure waiting for us isn't about luxury real estate, but something infinitely more valuable that changes everything about how we live today?

Steve Wood unpacks Revelation 8:6–12 and the first trumpet judgments, where one-third of the earth, sea, and sky are struck. Are these merely symbolic, or real consequences tied to humanity's sin? Drawing on Genesis, Isaiah, Romans, and Jesus' own words, Steve reveals the deep connection between morality and the natural world—and the hope creation has in Christ. Today on Cat81 Radio, Marilyn Hickey takes us deep into Revelation Chapter 17 — unveiling the mystery of the great harlot, the symbolic city, and the powerful forces that oppose God's kingdom. With clarity and insight, she explains the prophetic imagery and its connection to end-times events, helping listeners understand God's ultimate plan for victory over evil. This teaching brings hope and urgency for believers to stand firm in faith as history moves toward its final chapter." Jag, Tedi, and I thank you for tuning in and SHARING!
Have you ever felt like your prayers weren't making it beyond your ceiling? Has someone ever talked down to you or treated you poorly because of their beliefs? Have you ever felt like throwing up your hands and walking away from faith? If you're at that breaking point right now, it's worth holding on because, even when we're ready to quit, God is still working.
In this sermon by Pastor Chris Romig, the focus is on Revelation 8 and the significance of prayer in God's unfolding plan. Chris traces the journey through Revelation, describing the scroll with seven seals as a symbol of God's final will for the earth, and noting the escalating judgments released as each seal is opened. When the seventh seal is opened, there is a profound silence in heaven, highlighting the gravity of what is about to occur God's final wave of judgment. Chris draws attention to the imagery of incense, representing the prayers of the saints, rising before God in heaven. He explains that, biblically, “saints” means all believers set apart by Christ, not just especially virtuous people. These prayers, he assures, are cherished by God and have power in His purposes, even if not always answered in ways or timing we expect. Encouraging the church, Chris emphasizes that prayer matters our prayers ascend to God like fragrant incense, and God desires to work through them. He challenges the congregation to deepen their prayer lives, referencing Andrew Murray on the importance of “believing and unceasing prayer” as essential to experiencing God's blessing. Chris concludes with a practical invitation to prayer, teaching a PRAY (Praise, Repent, Ask, Yield) model and urging everyone to approach God in prayer, confident that their prayers make a difference and participate in God's plans.

When the Lamb opens the seventh seal in Revelation 8, heaven falls silent before seven trumpet judgments shake the natural world. Are these visions mere metaphors—or literal, world-changing events? Steve Wood explains the biblical and historical background of the trumpet blasts, drawing from Joshua 6, ancient Jewish tradition about the seven archangels, and the prayers of the martyrs in Revelation 6. He also shares insights from St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Eusebius, and Archbishop Fulton Sheen on real cosmic and geological upheavals that may foreshadow the end times. We all have times when we feel helpless - whether it's a health crisis, financial stress, or watching someone you love make bad choices. What are we supposed to do when we feel this way? The first Christians felt the same way, living under brutal persecution. But Jesus has something crucial to say about who's really in control when everything looks hopeless.
The sermon explores the morality of the Book of Revelation, arguing that suffering within its narrative stems from a theological framework fundamentally different from secular humanism. It contends that sin demands ultimate penalty, that humanity is inherently corrupted, and that God, not human well-being, is the highest value, justifying divine judgment as a necessary consequence of rebellion against God's sovereignty and law. Ultimately, the message calls for a rejection of humanistic notions about God and an embrace of the biblical understanding of divine justice and grace, exemplified by the sacrificial Lamb who offers redemption and reconciliation.
The book of Revelation is both one of the most read and most misunderstood books of the Bible. Attempts to “decode” or interpret the Apocalypse have often done more harm than good for the church. Pastor Nathan Hoff and Pastor Dave Wollan will present a different approach to reading the Revelation, one more along the lines of a pastoral letter from Pastor John on Patmos to a beleaguered people.
How are believers protected during the end times? In this episode, Steve Wood explores Revelation 7 and the divine sealing that shields God's people before the full force of judgment is unleashed. Learn how the Four Horsemen, Four Angels, and Four Winds tie together through Old Testament prophecy (Zechariah 6) and why the seal of the living God is essential for perseverance during the great eschatological trial (CCC 1296, 675). This episode challenges popular interpretations and emphasizes the Church's future suffering—not escape, but endurance through grace. For more resources, visit us online at www.BibleforCatholics.com.
What do the Four Horsemen in Revelation 6 really represent? In this episode, Steve Wood walks through Revelation 6:1–8, unpacking the meaning behind the white, red, black, and pale horses—through the lens of both Old and New Testament prophecy. Is the white horse the Antichrist or Christ? Are the red and black horses symbols of historic and future war and famine? And what does the pale horse reveal about the plagues and death to come? Drawing from Ezekiel, Zechariah, Leviticus, and Church teaching (including insights from Pope Pius XII), Steve explores how these judgments may point to past, present, and future realities—especially as world events begin to mirror prophetic signs. The book of Revelation seems so mysterious and confusing that most of us are convinced it's impossible to understand. In this episode of Luke21, Steve Wood begins a deep dive into Revelation chapters 6–16, where St. John reveals four interconnected series of God's judgments: the 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, 7 Thunders, and 7 Bowls. While many are familiar with the seals, trumpets, and bowls, the 7 Thunders—briefly mentioned and sealed in Revelation 10—are often overlooked. Steve explains how these four sevenfold judgments unfold as a progressive sequence, increasing in intensity and rooted in Old Testament context, especially Leviticus 26. Drawing powerful connections between Israel's Holiness Code and modern-day moral decline, Steve warns that the sins judged in ancient times—such as sexual immorality, child sacrifice, occult practices, and blasphemy—are now embedded in contemporary culture and law. Are we, like ancient Jerusalem, inviting divine judgment? Dive into this prophetic section of Revelation and explore what it means for believers today.
