In this compelling episode, we confront the dangerous rise of extremist ideologies—ranging from antisemitism to jihadist radicalization and neo-Nazi movements. Together with three remarkable guests, we unpack the root causes of radicalization, strategies for prevention, and real-world solutions to foster unity and compassion in polarized times. My distinguished guests bring unique perspectives and powerful stories:* Dr. Miri Bar-Halpern, a clinical psychologist and advocate specializing in trauma and recovery, shares insights on healing and resilience.* Mubin Shaikh, a former jihadist extremist turned counter-terrorism operative, reflects on his journey and his pivotal role as a confidential source in the Toronto 18 case.* Arno Michaelis, a former neo-Nazi skinhead and lead singer of the hate-metal band Centurion, discusses his transformation and work to combat hate.Together, they collaborate with Parents4Peace to break down polarization, promote civil engagement, and spark meaningful dialogue, especially in academic settings where false narratives have fueled tensions since the October 7th attack on Israel. Their mission? “We center our work on those most affected by extremism—families and targeted communities—while equipping frontline professionals to intervene early and stop hate before it escalates. We address hate at its source, across every ideology.”*** Support Us on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/cryforzionLearn more about their mission at parents4peace.org

Great faith can move the heart of God. In Matthew 8:5–13, we meet a Roman centurion whose trust in Christ was so remarkable that Jesus Himself marveled. He believed that just one word from the Lord was enough to heal his servant—and it was done.In this devotion, Pastor Roderick Webster unpacks the story of the centurion, explores why Jesus praised his faith, and reflects on how we too can learn to trust God's Word completely. You'll also discover the significance of Capernaum as the center of much of Jesus' ministry, and how miracle after miracle showed His authority over sickness, sin, and doubt. If you've ever wrestled with trusting God's promises, this message is for you. Be encouraged—Christ honors those who believe Him without hesitation.

This devotional audio focuses on a passage from Matthew chapter 8, verses 5-13, which describes Jesus healing a centurion's servant. The speaker begins by referencing a hymn about trusting God for salvation, connecting it to the theme of faith. The discussion explores the significance of Capernaum as Jesus's ministry headquarters and details other miracles performed there, such as healing a leper, a paralytic, and Peter's mother-in-law. The centurion's role as a Roman military commander is explained, drawing parallels to other centurions mentioned in the New Testament, to underscore his position and the nature of his faith. The segment concludes by setting the stage for a deeper examination of the centurion's plea to Jesus. There's this disease that hits college campuses in the spring every year. It's called "senior panic." You arrive at college as a freshman with this sneaking suspicion that you might just meet the person you're going to marry while you're there. And as you go through college, that suspicion becomes an expectation. Now, my wife and I met when we went to college, where we began our education. And D. L. Moody, the man who founded our school, the great evangelist, well, he was a shoe salesman. In fact, they used to say that Moody was a shoe factory where they would take in old heels, and repair their souls, and send them out in pairs. So, you wanted to come out of there with a mate if at all possible. Right? You started with that suspicion that you might find somebody, and then it became an expectation, and then maybe in your junior year it became a determination, "I've got to find somebody here! I might not have anybody." And then you hit your senior year; there's no husband or wife in sight - senior panic! Quick, do something! I'm going to miss it if I don't do something fast! Who says panic is only a senior problem? I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "The Problem With Panic." Now, our word for today from the Word of God comes from Acts 27. I'll begin reading at verse 30. The Apostle Paul has been for two weeks in the middle of a terrible storm at sea, as he's being carried by a Roman ship to meet with Caesar in Rome. And as they begin to go aground, some of the crew starts to have, not senior panic, but sailor panic. Here's what they decide to do, listen: "In an attempt to escape from the ship, the sailors let the lifeboat down into the sea pretending they were going to lower some anchors from the bow. Then Paul said to the Centurion and the soldiers, 'Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved.' So the soldiers cut the ropes that held the lifeboat and they let it fall away." Okay, some background: The Apostle Paul had gotten assurance from the Lord, in the middle of the storm, that though the ship would go aground, the people would be saved. In fact earlier in the chapter, here's the message he conveys, "Do not be afraid. God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you, so keep up your courage, men. I have faith in God that it will happen just as He told me." Well, their panic was understandable; the ship's coming apart. Looks like God's not going to deliver them in time. They panic! They scramble for a quick answer. Have you ever done that? See, if they do this, they're not going to make it. If you do, you won't make it. How many times do we look at our storm, we see the ship going down, financially, romantically, emotionally, and we panic. We go for a lifeboat instead of waiting for God's answer, God's provision. Abraham did it with Hagar and he created a problem for centuries with the two sons of promise, because he and Sarah could not wait for God to fulfill His promise. Rebecca did it with her son, Jacob, when she lied about him to try to get the blessing for him and all she ended up with was a family split apart. You and I do it when we settle for these patchwork solutions. Because of panic, many of God's kids have ended up with a lot of heartache, in the wrong job, the wrong relationships, the wrong marriage, a mountain of debt. The greatest enemy of God's best may be impatience. We can't wait for God to do as Paul said, "All that God said that He would do." Those seniors who panic over singleness often get the wrong person. In their rush, they often make a life-long mistake. When they think time's running out, God is right on schedule. Remember, if you panic, you can make a life-long mistake.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Randy Niemeyer from Burnsville, MN. Thank you for your generosity and partnership in Project 23. This one's for you. Our text today is Mark 15:33-41: And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.” And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.” And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. — Mark 15:33-41 At midday, an ominous darkness falls—three hours of suffocating blackness, a death-shroud over the land. Then, at the climax, Jesus raises his voice in the ancient Psalm: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” In that moment, all sin's penalty crushes him. He bears your guilt, your shame, your exile from God. Yet this is not defeat. It is not the cry of the weak. It's the call of the prelude to the greatest dawn. When he breathes his last, the temple curtain rips—God's presence is unleashed. And a hardened centurion, face-to-face with divine love poured out, confesses: “Truly this man was the Son of God!” Darkness gives way to revelation. Death leads to faith. Your darkest seasons may feel like a time of God's absence. You may cry, “Why, Lord?”—and that's okay. Jesus did, too. But remember: your forsaken moment can become the gateway to deeper faith. When you hit your blackest pit, God's curtain tears. His presence rushes in. So when darkness comes—spiritual, emotional, relational—don't turn away. Stand at the foot of the cross. Remember his words. Watch for the tearing of the veil. And like the centurion, let your trial become the moment you say: “Truly, Jesus is the Son of God.” #DarknessBeforeDawn, #Mark15, #SonOfGod ASK THIS: Why did darkness cover the land at midday? What does the tearing of the temple curtain signify for you today? When have you felt forsaken—and how did God meet you there? How can your darkest trial deepen your worship? DO THIS: In your next dark moment, sit quietly and whisper, “My God, my God.” Ask Him to reveal Himself through the shadows. PRAY THIS: Jesus, in my darkest hour, help me cling to your presence. Remind me that you bore my forsaken cry so I can know your nearness forever. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Tear The Veil."

When the Roman centurion heard about Jesus, he didn't come with pride or credentials. He came with faith. A Gentile outsider, trained in authority and command, he recognized true power not in rank or sword but in the word of Christ. He believed Jesus could heal from afar, without touch, without presence, without ritual. And Jesus marveled at this man's faith. Not in all of Israel had He found faith like this. The centurion knew he was unworthy and still believed. That kind of belief, that humility, is the model we are called to follow. So I ask you, do you have faith like that? A faith that trusts when you don't have all the answers. A faith that moves even when healing hasn't come. A faith that rests not on who you are or what you've done, but on who Jesus is and what He has the power to do. If a Roman soldier can come to Christ in humility and be commended for great faith, then so can we. Let us hear the word of Jesus today and be not just hearers, but doers, living out a faith that believes He can speak and it is done.
Faith. What exactly is it? Today we will talk about this as a Centurion comes to Jesus and asks Him to heal his beloved servant. We will see Jesus' amazing answer and see what it means to trust and rely on God for the things we need.

Hansie Cronje had it all — captain of South Africa, adored by a nation, trusted by Nelson Mandela. A symbol of hope in the post-apartheid era. Then came the Centurion Test: a rain-ruined match is suddenly back on, thanks to a strange decision by Hansie. At first, it looks like good sportsmanship — until a wiretap in India catches something shocking. What unfolds next will change cricket forever. In Sport's Strangest Crimes - Hansie Cronje: Fall From Grace, former England cricketer Mark Butcher traces the rise and collapse of a national hero — from quiet warning signs and secret phone calls to a dramatic confession and a televised inquiry. But even as Hansie admits to more than just Centurion, many believe the investigation didn't go far enough. Sixty-three offshore bank accounts are discovered. Links to other players emerge. And just as pressure builds for a deeper probe — Hansie dies in a plane crash. Some say pilot error. Others aren't so sure. Was Hansie manipulated by a powerful network of fixers? Or was he the one pulling the strings? With testimony from teammates, journalists, investigators and those who knew him best, Mark unpacks a story of power, money, and the dark side of sport. More than two decades on, people are still asking: who was the real Hansie Cronje?

Joining us today is the directing great Neil Marshall (Dog Soildiers, The Decent) and the inspiring actress and producer Liz Farahadi to talk about SHORT film making, the things that can go wrong, why they are important, why planning is vital and how you always need to be ready to adapt. AND their short film Keep Young and Beautiful. We also talk applying for film festivals, why you might or might got get selected, producing short films, what goes into them and the difference between shorts and features for directors. Neil burst onto the scene and punched us all in the face with the cult werewolf action-horror classic "Dog Soldiers" and then, he plunged us into true claustrophobic terror with "The Descent" a film that won critical acclaim and cemented his status as a master of modern horror. He then unleashed the post-apocalyptic action mayhem of "Doomsday" and the brutal historical epic "Centurion,". More recently, he directed the period horror "The Reckoning" and the creature feature "The Lair." And it's not just features! He's brought his distinctive, cinematic vision to some of the biggest TV shows out there, directing two of the most epic battle episodes in "Game of Thrones" history – "Blackwater" and "The Watchers on the Wall" – which earned him an Emmy nomination. He's also helmed episodes of "Black Sails," "Constantine," "Hannibal," "Westworld," and "Lost in Space. And also joining us today, we have an incredible talent in Liz Farahadi, who truly embodies the spirit of independent filmmaking: an accomplished actress and a dedicated producer who champions diverse voices and impactful stories. You might know her from her acting roles in compelling independent films like "Losing Grace" (where she also served as a producer) and "Wild Bones," as well as various theatre productions and commercials. She's also had roles in the well-loved British soaps, "EastEnders" and "Coronation Street," along with other dramas like "Two Thousand Acres of Sky," "Miss Marple," and "Doctor Who. She's a passionate advocate for filmmakers, recognizing the need for support, especially for those from marginalized backgrounds. This drive led her to found and direct The Soho London Independent Film Festival (SohoLIFF), a fantastic platform dedicated to creating opportunities and celebrating films with social and environmental impact. She's currently in post-production on new short films like "Losing Grace" and "Daughter," and developing features like "Xenos" and "Polly." Her latest film as an actress and producer, "Keep Young & Beautiful," delves into the darker world of beauty standards with a powerful and humorous edge. In this homily on St Matthew 8:5-13 (the faith of the Centurian), given on the Sunday after the Feast of American Independence (7/6/2025), Fr. Anthony continues to remind us of our calling to order creation, focusing on the evangelic method that looks for the good in something and working to make it better. Christ did not focus on the faults of the Centurian, but on what was good in Him so that it might become his defining characteristic and thus guide him (in Christ!) towards the better, the more beautiful, and the True. He encourages us to do this for our neighbor and our nation. Enjoy the show!
Pastor Chris shared the story of the Roman centurion who amazed Jesus with his great faith and compassion. Even though the centurion was an outsider and a powerful man, he humbly trusted Jesus to heal his servant with just a word. Pastor Chris reminded us that real faith doesn't need to see first—it simply believes—and […]

Matthew 4:13Luke 7:1 – 10This centurion was advocated for by the leaders of the Jewish people when he had a need due to his generosity in building them a synagogue.Consider Acts 10:28. How much offense did he overcome? Psalm 119:165 (KJV)Matthew 8:5 – 13Same events are described.Differences in the accounts pertain to different aspects being found memorable by Luke / Matthew.Same centurion in my opinion as a student. Matthew Henry Commentary responsibly handled each event separately having no historical record to link them. (make mention of Grok calling Mark 15:16 & Matthew 27:27 a “rhetorical exaggeration”) I must incorporate more than consensus of experts because God's Word is life. Consider “safe & effective” evidence clock. If centurion wouldn't have carried out crucifixion, he would likely have been killed immediately, as well as his men. An example of a do or die situation.Mark 15:16 – 39Note that Simon of Cyrene's sons were mentioned by name in this account. In my inexpert opinion, this is because their lives became marked by God's blessing as a result of their father's service. (Save the explanation for time's sake.)Important detail: first account or witness attesting the centurion said, “Truly this was the Son of God.”Matthew 27:27 – 54Same events are described. Again, the differences come from what each disciple found memorable.Important: this passage contains the second witness verifying that the centurion said, “Truly this was the Son of God.” Deuteronomy 19:15Luke 23:33 – 47Very important detail: Luke 23:34 Jesus asked God the Father to forgive them (including the centurion).Important detail: the Bible refers to the centurion saying “This Man was in fact innocent,” as praise to God. I've learned a number of things from looking into how the Bible defines different terms at times.Same centurion.Consider how spiritual progress even works.Acts 10:22 says that the entire Jewish nation spoke well of him. Were there two such centurions?Given the scope of the Romans soldiers' involvement in Jesus' crucifixion (around 600 of them), I think it's realistic that the centurion who had supervised it ended up being promoted in a significant way.God answered Jesus' prayer for the centurion's forgiveness. He wasn't guilty for Jesus' death, even though he seems to have profited from it significantly. However, the centurion seems to have remained very mindful of his role in Jesus' death.Acts 10:2 Consider his entire household feared God – how easy is that to achieve, even for a strong leader?Acts 10:7 Consider his close associate was someone devout.Acts 10:33 He viewed himself as being before God in what he did in his life.
Patrick offers thoughtful Catholic advice, fields passionate questions about sacraments, spiritual authority, and healing, and responds directly to callers with both encouragement and occasional gentle pushback. Grandma (email) – What Bible would you recommend to my 21-year-old grandson who is interested in becoming a Catholic? (00:50) Mary - I work in a big retail place and a group of women acting weird came in wanting to pray over people. Is this something I need to be concerned about? (05:44) Kimberly - The Eucharist: What about the fact that this is not just a physical state but a spiritual state? (10:20) Kim - You are causing division. I heard the comment about people praying over other people. I feel offended by Catholic radio rejecting charismatic gifts and the Holy Spirit. (13:49) Saul (email) - Can theosis occur with a Spiritual Communion besides the regular way of receiving Communion/Eucharist and is there a difference of degree? (18:29) Andrew (email) - I came across your Wikipedia page and it mentions that you used to be in the Coast Guard and an electrical engineer. Are either of these true? Sheila (email) - St. Monica did not get Augustine baptized as an infant at that time, but why? Was it because of the “fad” at the time to delay it because of sin? How long did this practice last and when did it end? Michael - According to Jesus, laying on of hands can be effective. Are we dismissing this a little too lightly? (26:29) Jeff - I have heard that as a lay person, if you lay hands on a person, you could become possessed. Is this true? (37:22) Jen - What do the words of the Centurion that we repeat at Mass mean? (41:45)
