It's bring your dog to work today thanks to The Farmer's Dog. Gio's dog, Elvis, is here. Al's dog, Whimsy is here. And Eddie's dog, Cooper, is here. Gio is not going to get worked up about the Knicks right now because it's not the real Knicks with all of the injuries. Jalen Brunson has a cervical issue. Gio thought only women had a cervix. It got confusing. Jerry is here for his first update and said if he got a dog he would get a golden retriever. Mecole Hardman was on The Pivot podcast and talked about how the Jets ran the offense (it was not good). Gio said this is low hanging fruit for Hardman to bring up after catching the game winning TD in the Super Bowl. Jerry has the 60 foot buzzer beater as the Cavaliers beat the Mavericks. Evan and Tiki played a new game show ‘Posted & Toasted'. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer is interviewing Ronda Rousey for his GameTime show. Rumors of Blake Snell to the Yankees are still out there as Juan Soto was asked about it and of course he would love it.

Hour 1 The Knicks are hanging on by a thread and had to be bailed out last night against the lowly Pistons. We also have a norovirus update: Aly, our makeup artist, is out today with it. She was touching our faces yesterday so we are probably in the incubation period. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the controversial call at the end of the Knicks game. The Pistons head coach called it the absolute worst call of the season, a no call. Bills player Dion Dawkins was on Vlad TV and called Micheal Clemons a ‘bitch boy'. In the final segment of the hour, it's NFL combine week so Boomer is excited to hear about hand measurements. Caleb Williams will not be there throwing. Gio said it sounds like it's not over yet in Chicago with Justin Fields. Boomer insists it's over and they are taking Williams. Boomer said Williams needs to go there as the Bears have assets and a great defense and are going to be good.  Hour 2 Gio ran into Saquon Barkley at a golf course yesterday. He just said hello and didn't ‘chat him up'. Boomer gifts Gio with a Ghost brand golf bag. Gio said he was golfing with someone who was a ‘brain dead loser'. Boomer said Gio is becoming a real golfer because he gets annoyed at other golfers now. A caller said he quit golf ‘after taking a goose's head off'. Jerry returns for an update and Boomer gives him a framed photo from the golf course when they played in Vegas. Jerry starts with the Knicks beating the Pistons with help from the refs ‘no call'. As you might imagine, the Pistons head coach was pissed. Erin Andrews tells a story of a Bucs player being nasty to her back in the day and John Lynch and Derrick Brooks came to her defense. Al has a few newspaper clippings from his days covering the Bucs and has a picture of himself on the sideline as Wayne Chrebet caught a pass from Curtis Martin. In the final segment of the hour, we replayed a PSA we heard about getting a nose spray in case someone overdoses in your house.  Hour 3 After a Duke player was injured over the weekend, the topic of storming the court is in the news. Boomer talked about a time at Maryland when the fans stormed the field. We somehow got on people being nervous about ‘the grid' going down at some point. We talked about fans running on the field in baseball after Hank Aaron's HR. Eddie ran on the field at Shea Stadium, stole some grass, and planted it in his backyard. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Knicks beating the Pistons thanks to a ‘no call' by the refs. Jerry has audio from around MLB spring training camps. Prior to Footwork, Nikhil was a Managing Director at Shasta Ventures, on the investment team at Insight Partners, and on the founding team at Artsy. In Today's Episode with Nikhil Basu Trivedi We Discuss: 1. From Summer Intern to Founding a Firm: The 13 Year Journey: How did Nikhil first make his way into venture as an intern at Insight Partners in NYC? What does Nikhil know now that he wishes he had known on his first day in venture? Why does Nikhil advise all young VCs to "not look at their business card"? Why does title not matter in venture? Should founders meet with Juniors as well as GPs and more senior people? 2. Small Funds Outperform Large Funds: Why does Nikhil believe that small funds outperform large funds? Why is AUM the biggest bullshit metric in VC? How does Nikhil advise seed stage founders who have offers from seed firms for smaller rounds at lower valuations and are weighing them against larger rounds with higher valuations from multi-stage funds? Does Nikhil believe that platform value-added services really provide any value? 3. The Art of Investing: What has been Nikhil's biggest investing win? How has it changed his approach to investing? How does Nikhil prioritize between people, traction, and market? What is most important? What has been Nikhil's biggest investing miss? How has that changed his approach? Does Nikhil believe the great founders are immediately obvious? Why is market size the single question that keeps Nikhil up the most? 4. The Dysfunctions of Venture Capital: What are the single biggest areas of misalignment between GP and LP? What do many GPs see and know well that LPs should know and see more of? What are the biggest ways that decision-making breaks down in a venture fund? Why does Nikhil believe that so much of the investment in AI is going to go up in flames?

In the early morning hours of November 8th, 1992, 19-year-old nursing student Mischelle Lawless was found dead, just outside Benton, Missouri, on the side of Interstate 70. Investigators claimed the evidence suggested Mischelle had fought for her life, ran from her attacker and was pursued and caught before being returned to her car where she was shot three times in the back of the head. After questioning Mischelle's boyfriend and friends, the case went cold until April 7th of 1993, when 17 year old Josh Kezer was arrested and charged with the murder of Mischelle Lawless. Kezer's arrest was based on information provided to police by two jailhouse informants, and supporting testimony of a witness who claimed to see Mischelle and Josh arguing at a party the night of her murder, as well as another witness who placed Kezer at the scene of the crime. Despite the lack of physical evidence and the questionable credibility of the witnesses and informants, Josh Kezer was found guilty of second degree murder and he was sentenced to 60 years in prison. However, sixteen years later Josh Kezer was exonerated after witnesses came forward claiming he had not been at the party, and it was discovered that the eyewitness placing Kezer at the scene had changed his account of that evening multiple  times. Kezer sued for wrongful conviction, being awarded four million dollars, ten thousand of which he donated to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, to be used to find the real killer of Mischelle Lawless. Three brothers. One cousin...who they want to marry. It starts in a weird place this week. Three brothers are sent on a quest: the brother who brought back the strangest, coolest item would get to marry her. A story with magic carpets, genies, fairies, and a man who can wrap his mustache around his head, we learn the value of communication, understanding, and not having people murdered. The creature this week might not be a creature at all, but simply an elderly woman who doesn't want to be attacked with a knife. --- Links: Membership: https://www.mythpodcast.com/membership Pizza bicycle: https://myths.link/bicyclepizza First story source (with questionable anthropology): https://myths.link/threeprinces Second story source: https://myths.link/princeahmed --- Sponsors: The Farmer's Dog:Help keep your dog happy and healthy for all your adventures together with The Farmer's Dog: https://thefarmersdog.com/myths Audible: Enjoy and discover audio entertainment in one app. New members can try Audible free for 30 days: https://Audible.com/legends or text the word legends to 500-500 --- Music: Kaleidoscope by Adrian Berenguer An Oddly Formal Dance by Blue Dot Sessions Play by Adrian Berenguer Winter by Adrian Berenguer Days Pass by Adrian Berenguer Separation by Adrian Berenguer Gnarled Oak by Boris Skalsky

Why reinvent the wheel? In today's episode, Quinn and Adrienne analyze some of the best and worst superbowl ads from the weekend's big game and discuss how these ads could be made over to fit the industry. How so? Consider the classic, "is it real or is it acting" Pepsi commercial featuring Steve Martin or Ben Stiller. In the ad(s), the actors play off of the idea that sometimes they love the products they support and sometimes it's acting. In the end, they drink the Pepsi sugar-free cola and remark on how delicious it tastes and then end with "is this real or am I acting?" No one knows for certain, but the commercial creates enough intrigue that now everyone wants to actually know...does it taste like the real thing? Consider a remake to drive foot traffic. Mattress companies tout better support, cooling features and a variety of items. Put the mattresses to the "test rest" challenge and invite them in stores to see "does it really offer support or are we just saying it does?" Among other the top favorites? The Farmer's Dog brand dog food stole Adrienne's heart. It had sentiment, connection and tugged at the heartstrings and 48 hours later, it's the one she remembers in vivid detail. For Quinn, it was the homage to Breaking Bad and the Doritos addiction. Which did they disagree on? Blue Moon. What did you think of the commercials and which were your favorites? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mattresspodcast/message

The game was a close one, the commercials sparked plenty of commentary, and Rihanna did not disappoint. That pretty much sums up Superbowl LVII, which was a nailbiter right up until the final moments when Kansas City won thanks to a field goal in the last ten seconds of the game. Megan Alexander has all the action, including controversy over why so many players were slipping and sliding all over the field. And we didn't know for sure until after her performance, but Rihanna became the first pregnant performer to do a Super Bowl Halftime Show. Our cameras captured all the precautions in place to keep her safe. Plus, this ad was voted the top commercial of the Super Bowl - and if the Farmer's Dog spot inspired you to go cuddle your dog, well, you weren't alone. Ann Mercogliano has the details about the little company that blew away the much bigger competition. And what are you supposed to do if the accelerator on your car gets stuck? The first thing, they say, is stay calm - not easy to do if you're barreling down the road at 110 miles an hour.
