This archeological finding redefines “full-bodied” wine. The oldest vintage is people? The oldest wine ever discovered in liquid form harbored an unlikely ingredient — cremated human remains, according to a study published recently in the Journal of Archaeological Science. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Friday, the NYPD are searching for a man accused of stealing a gold-plated rose from a Manhattan church memorial honoring the victims of 9/11. It's Friday, November 22nd, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Anti-Christian hate crimes in Turkey have doubled The number of anti-Christian hate crimes in Turkey more than doubled from 2021 to 2023, according to an International Christian Concern analysis.  The Freedom of Belief Initiative, a religious freedom watchdog group, reports that hate crimes against Christ followers in Turkey jumped from 10 in 2021 to 22 in 2023.   Since 2020, Christians have experienced most of the religious hate crimes committed in Turkey, with 52 occurrences reported. The crimes include property damage, harassment, and violence.  In John 15:20, Jesus said, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.” Int'l Criminal Court issues arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu In a shocking development, the International Criminal Court issued formal arrest warrants yesterday for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged Israeli “crimes against humanity” and “war crimes” committed in Gaza.   Gary Bauer, Founder of Campaign for Working Families, wrote, “Israel is fighting an existential war against Islamic supremacists who have promised a second Holocaust and vowed to destroy the state of Israel. And the International Criminal Court wants to put Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant on trial?   “This is what happens when nations surrender their sovereignty to globalist world government. The International Criminal Court is a creation of the United Nations, but functions independently of the U.N. The United States and Israel wisely opposed the creation of the International Criminal Court.” Bauer concluded, “Donald Trump imposed sanctions on International Criminal Court officials when they tried to go after U.S. troops who fought in Afghanistan. The Biden/Harris administration repealed those sanctions. This insane action ensures that the Trump/Vance administration will terminate any and all support for the International Criminal Court.” Matt Gaetz withdraws his name from U.S. Attorney General consideration Former GOP Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida, a Trump loyalist, withdrew his name for U.S. Attorney General yesterday, reports NBC News. He tweeted, "It is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition. There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump's Department of Justice must be in place and ready on Day 1.” Gaetz's path to being confirmed by the U.S. Senate was mired by a series of allegations of sexual misconduct, including his hiring prostitutes and having an intimate encounter with a minor at a 2017 party, according to leaks from the House Ethics Committee. The New York Times had reported that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, and Senator-elect John Curtis of Utah had all indicated they would not confirm Gaetz as Attorney General. With a 53-member majority, four defections would be enough to defeat the nomination. Will Gov. Ron DeSantis appoint Gaetz as Senator to replace Marco Rubio? Questions have swirled on whether Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will now nominate Gaetz as his state's next senator. DeSantis must appoint a replacement for Senator Marco Rubio, who was tapped as Trump's secretary of state, should the Senate confirm him. Under the U.S. Constitution and Florida state law, the governor has the power to fill vacancies in the U.S. Senate while voters decide who fills empty seats in the U.S. House. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida was re-elected in 2022. That means whoever replaces him will serve until 2026, when a special election will ensue to determine who holds the seat for the rest of his term until 2028. Sources close to DeSantis say it's unlikely he'll appoint Gaetz. Trump taps Florida's former Attorney General to be U.S. Attorney General President-elect Donald Trump announced former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as his nominee for U.S. attorney general, reports The Epoch Times. On Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on violent criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida families.” Bondi also served as Florida's attorney general from 2011 to 2019. The president-elect said that as the state's first female attorney general, Bondi “worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of fentanyl overdose deaths, which have destroyed many families across our country.” MSNBC's Joe & Mika met with President-elect Trump after calling him Hitler On Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Jon Stewart, a liberal comedian, got a chuckle out of the recent visit made by MSNBC's top liberals, Joe and Mika Scarborough, who were willing to sit down with President-elect Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.  STEWART: “Joe and Mika Brzezinski Scarborough, who famously warned of the growing threat of Trump's fascism, also had an interesting announcement to make.” MIKA SCARBOROUGH: “Last Thursday, we expressed our own concerns on this broadcast, and even said we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with the president elect himself. “On Friday, we were given the opportunity to do just that. Joe and I went to Mar-a-Lago to meet personally with President-elect Trump. And for those asking why we would go speak to the president elect during such fraught times, especially between us, I guess I would ask back, ‘Why wouldn't we?'" STEWART: “Because you said he was Hitler!" (laughter) Biden secretly awards Planned Parenthood leader And finally, in a secret ceremony, President Joe Biden gave the Medal of Freedom to Cecile Richards who aggressively ran the murder giant, Planned Parenthood, for 12 years, reports LifeNews.com. According to the Washington Times, “The ceremony was not listed on Mr. Biden's public schedule, nor was his decision to award the medal to Ms. Richards publicly announced until after the presentation. Members of the media were not invited to watch the ceremony.” Under Richards' leadership, Planned Parenthood pushed abortion on demand during all nine months of pregnancy. Despite the fact that she oversaw the systematic murders of  1.5 million pre-born babies every year, President Biden laughably called Cecile Richards “a leader of the utmost character.” However, Isaiah 59:7 describes Cecile Richards more accurately. “Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, November 22nd, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. This Day in Legal History: Max Headroom IncidentOn November 22, 1987, a bizarre and illegal hijacking of television signals in Chicago made history as the "Max Headroom incident." During an evening broadcast of the news on WGN-TV, the signal was interrupted by a person wearing a rubber Max Headroom mask—a character from a popular British-American sci-fi show. The intruder, who spoke in distorted audio while a buzzing background noise played, reappeared later during a broadcast of "Doctor Who" on PBS affiliate WTTW. In the second interruption, the masked figure performed erratic gestures, spouted nonsensical phrases, and referenced TV culture, all culminating in a crude act involving a flyswatter and exposed buttocks. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), tasked with regulating airwaves, launched an immediate investigation, as signal hijacking violates federal laws prohibiting unauthorized use of broadcast frequencies. Despite efforts by the FCC and law enforcement, the perpetrators were never identified, adding an air of mystery to the event. The technical feat required to override broadcast signals in 1987 suggested that the culprits had considerable expertise and access to specialized equipment. This incident was one of the most notorious cases of broadcast signal intrusion, highlighting vulnerabilities in television networks at the time. It also sparked debates about cybersecurity, freedom of expression, and the emerging role of "hacktivism" in digital media. No further incidents of this type occurred on such a scale in the United States, likely due to improvements in broadcast security and stricter regulatory oversight. President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as Attorney General following Matt Gaetz's withdrawal. Bondi, a longstanding Trump ally, has been a vocal supporter of his claims that the Justice Department's investigations into him were politically biased. If confirmed, Bondi would oversee major aspects of the DOJ, including defending controversial policies and managing federal grants.Trump praised Bondi for her toughness and alignment with his "America First" agenda. Bondi previously served on Trump's legal defense team during his first impeachment trial and has taken high-profile legal stances, including challenging the Affordable Care Act as Florida's Attorney General. However, her tenure has also been marked by controversies, such as accepting a Trump Foundation donation while considering action against Trump University, though no wrongdoing was found.Bondi's nomination comes as Trump plans significant changes to the Justice Department, including possible leadership shifts, and amid ongoing federal indictments against him. Bondi has publicly supported Trump's claims of voter fraud and pledged to investigate alleged “deep state” actors. Her background includes working on drug policy and opioid abuse commissions during Trump's first term and involvement with the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute.Matt Gaetz, initially chosen for the role, stepped down citing the distraction caused by controversies, including a closed sex trafficking investigation and a House Ethics probe. Trump's choice of Bondi highlights his intent to reshape the DOJ's focus while surrounding himself with trusted allies.Trump Picks Pam Bondi for Attorney General After Gaetz Exit (1)Trump picks Pam Bondi for US Attorney General after Gaetz withdraws | ReutersPresident-elect Donald Trump has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with identifying and repealing federal regulations they consider overly burdensome or invalid. The panel plans to focus on rules that they argue were enacted by unaccountable bureaucracies, guided by recent Supreme Court decisions that curtail agency rulemaking powers. DOGE also aims to propose mass layoffs and identify unauthorized federal spending, with a goal of completing its work by July 4, 2026.Repealing federal rules, however, is a complex and lengthy process governed by the Administrative Procedure Act, which requires detailed justifications, public comment periods, and compliance with legal standards. While Trump could issue executive orders halting enforcement of certain rules, agencies must still follow formal procedures for repealing them. Lawsuits are likely to challenge attempts to eliminate regulations, especially by opponents who claim improper justification or procedural violations.Musk and Ramaswamy's efforts will leverage recent Supreme Court rulings limiting agencies' ability to address major economic or societal issues without explicit Congressional authorization. Despite this, many regulations have firm legal backing, making their repeal difficult. Legal experts predict a wave of lawsuits and mixed outcomes, given the partisan makeup of federal courts. DOGE's recommendations signal Trump's broader agenda to significantly curtail the administrative powers of federal agencies. How Trump's Musk-led efficiency panel could slash federal agency rules | ReutersThe European Commission has closed its four-year antitrust investigation into Apple's rules for e-book and audiobook app developers following the withdrawal of the original complaint. The complainant, who remains unnamed, opted to drop the case, prompting regulators to end the probe. The closure does not indicate that Apple's conduct was found to comply with EU competition laws. EU regulators emphasized their ongoing commitment to monitoring tech industry practices, including Apple's, under the Digital Markets Act and broader competition regulations. The case's conclusion reflects the challenges in sustaining antitrust investigations without active complainants, though scrutiny of Apple's business practices in Europe is expected to persist.EU regulators scrap probe into Apple's e-book rules after complaint was withdrawn | ReutersSenate Democrats have agreed to a deal with Republicans to advance votes on President Joe Biden's district court nominees while abandoning four appellate court picks. The agreement allows the Senate to confirm several district court judges quickly, despite GOP stalling tactics aimed at delaying Biden's judicial appointments before Republicans assume control of the White House and Senate in January. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's spokesperson highlighted that the trade-off prioritized advancing more district court nominees over the blocked circuit picks. The deal derails the nominations of Adeel Mangi, Ryan Park, Karla Campbell, and Julia Lipez for appellate court seats. Mangi, who would have been the first Muslim federal appellate judge, faced opposition from some Democrats over allegations linking him to antisemitic and anti-police groups. Park's nomination was also at risk due to lack of Republican support. Meanwhile, the Senate pushed forward on cloture votes for several district court nominees, including Spark Sooknanan, Brian Murphy, Anne Hwang, Cynthia Valenzuela Dixon, and Catherine Henry. Votes on their confirmations will occur after Thanksgiving. Other nominees, such as Sharad Desai for Arizona and several others approved by the Judiciary Committee, also advanced. The agreement leaves critical appellate seats open, including those on the Third and First Circuits, aiding President-elect Donald Trump's agenda to influence the federal judiciary. Some judges considering semi-retirement may now delay their decisions, further impacting the judicial landscape.Biden Circuit Picks Derailed by Senate Deal on Trial Judges (2)This week's closing theme is by Johann Sebastian Bach.Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in Western music history. Born into a family of musicians in Eisenach, he displayed prodigious talent from a young age, mastering the organ, harpsichord, and violin. Throughout his career, Bach held prestigious positions as a court musician, music director, and cantor, most notably serving as the Thomaskantor in Leipzig, where he composed many of his most enduring works. His output includes cantatas, concertos, masses, and instrumental pieces, showcasing an unparalleled command of counterpoint, harmony, and structure. Despite limited recognition during his lifetime, Bach's music profoundly influenced later composers, earning him the title "Father of Music."This week's closing music is Bach's Prelude and Fugue in G minor, BWV 861, from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I. This collection of preludes and fugues in all 24 major and minor keys was revolutionary, both as a demonstration of the possibilities of the then-novel well-tempered tuning system and as a masterclass in compositional technique. The G minor prelude opens with a flowing, somber melody that builds in complexity, evoking introspection and elegance. The fugue that follows is a testament to Bach's genius for counterpoint, weaving together a single thematic idea into an intricate tapestry of musical voices. The Prelude and Fugue in G minor exemplifies Bach's ability to transform simple ideas into profound statements, inviting listeners into a world of meticulous craftsmanship and emotional depth. It's a fitting choice to close the week, blending timeless artistry with intellectual rigor.Without further ado, Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude and Fugue in G minor, enjoy. This is a public episode. Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon in charge of overseeing the nation's labor policy. Chavez-DeRemer is a union boss lackey who sold out American workers' individual rights during her tenure. As Mark's letter explains, Chavez-DeRemer tried to ingratiate the union political machine to boost her political fortunes, most notably by co-sponsoring the so-called “PRO Act,” which would expose millions more workers nationwide to the threat of being forced to pay union dues or be fired by eliminating state Right to Work laws nationwide. But her attempt to line union bosses' pockets with forced union dues didn't win over voters, who threw her out of office. The PRO Act's other provisions provide more than enough evidence for why Chavez-DeRemer would jeopardize worker freedom if installed as Labor Secretary: The Act would wipe out the gig economy by subjecting independent contractors to union boss power, it would give union bosses far more power to seize power in a workplace without even letting workers vote on the matter, and it would gag employers during a union organizing drive so employees only hear union bosses' side of the story, and much more. Stephen Harper, the former prime minister of Canada, used to have a sign up on all four walls of his campaign war room, Frum explains: “And the sign said, ‘Why are you saying this?’” While the Democrats realized they needed to create lots of short video segments that would be shared online, Frum compares the RNC disaster as a low-rent version of the Tucker Carlson show on Fox News. “He's a professionally competent white supremacist with a volume controls on the input device that matches the volume output,” he says. Molly was also unimpressed by Melania’s “dictator chic” and her very long speech. “In the end she was just like this weird alien trying to mimic a human,” she says. This is the 2nd in our 4 part series with the former head of the Office of Diversion Control for the DEA, Mr. Joseph Rannazzisi. We began this series by talking about the surprisingly candid report released on December 19th, 2018 by the Energy and Commerce Committee titled “Red Flags and Warning Signs Ignored: Opioid Distribution and Enforcement Concerns in West Virginia”. The purpose of the report was to investigate allegations of “opioid dumping” in West Virginia. In today’s podcast with Mr. Rannazzisi, who for over a decade was the front man in the government’s battle against the opioid epidemic, you’ll hear an in-depth conversation about how the diversion controls, that were supposed to be in place to protect the public from “opioid dumping”, failed in epic proportions. He gives a candid account of the friction and distrust that emerged between DEA and the DOJ that resulted in a breakdown in their ability to protect the American public from shipments of mass quantities of opioids, previously flagged as suspect. He’ll share his unfiltered comments on the passage of the Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Enforcement Act, a game-changing piece of legislation and you’ll learn about the people who were responsible for the legislative win for the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Rannazzisi offers his insights into the inter-workings of the Office of Diversion Control. As the department’s former leader, he was responsible for cracking down on doctors, pharmacies, drug manufacturers and distributors who did not follow the nation’s prescription drug laws. You may recall him from the 60 Minutes story titled “The Whistleblower” last fall. Greg is joined on this episode by guest, award winning investigative reporter, Pat Beall from the Palm Beach Post. Pat won Journalist of the Year for her work on The Post’s coverage of the heroin crisis, including profiles of the 216 people who died in 2015 from heroin-related overdoses, calculation of the cost of hospital care related to heroin treatment and a story linking Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to a fraudulent drug-screening company. Listen to this podcast, the second in our 4 part series, for a behind the scenes look at who was behind law changes that helped fuel America’s opioid epidemic.
