It's Witness Wednesday! In this episode of Wretched Radio, Todd engages in deep, thought-provoking discussions with Georgia Tech students Ryan and Dallas about God's existence, the Gospel, and the moral implications of their beliefs. Todd employs logic and morality to present the Christian viewpoint, challenging their perspectives and highlighting the importance of reconciling with God through Jesus Christ. Segment 1: • Ryan calls himself "probably agnostic," leaning toward Big Bang over creation. • Todd uses Ryan's Chick-fil-A sandwich to argue design proves a Designer. • Ryan admits Todd's explanation is “prettier” but ultimately doubts a Creator. Segment 2 • Todd probes Ryan's conscience, confronting him about lying, stealing, and lust. • Ryan insists he's a “good person” despite acknowledging guilt by biblical standards. • He shrugs off judgment, claiming he's “no worse than anyone else.” Segment 3 • Dallas believes in a vague “higher power” but rejects organized religion due to historical abuses. • Todd walks Dallas through the Ten Commandments, showing his guilt before God. • Dallas concedes he'd likely be judged guilty: “That's probably true.” Segment 4 • Todd presents Jesus as Dallas's only hope for redemption, emphasizing grace, not works. • Dallas hesitates, acknowledging the logic but resisting surrender: “I may just have to accept the deepest circle of hell.” • Todd pleads with him to repent before facing God's justice. ___ Thanks for listening! Join Dave Roberts and Ken Pullin for Episode 379 of Let Me Tell You Why You Wrong, where they blend backyard reality with political insider drama. They open with life in Pike County under blistering summer skies—Ken's just marked his 22nd wedding anniversary while juggling his daughter's Georgia Tech orientation (an $85 registration fee!) and the sticker shock of a $700 parking pass (Uber to the rescue, maybe). From there they steer into Atlanta's frenzy—$400-plus tickets to the MLB All-Star Game, Beyoncé's surprise country-music stop, and a preview of Whiskey Myers in Macon—before diving headlong into Georgia's next big showdown. Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones finally threw his hat into the governor's ring after the filing deadline, self-funding a $10 million launch video that features a surprise walk-on by Donald Trump and fond memories of his days kicking around the Bulldog football field. Dave and Ken unpack Jones's platform—abolishing the state income tax, fighting fentanyl, barring trans girls from girls' sports, and ending movie-industry tax credits—and compare it to Attorney General Chris Carr's $3.5 million war chest, the ever-teasing Marjorie Taylor Greene, and other potential contenders like Brad Raffensperger and Mike Collins. No Georgia episode would be complete without scandal, and this week the Frost family of Newnan steals the spotlight. Once major Republican donors, Brandt Frost 4 and his son Brandt Frost 5 now face an SEC civil suit accusing them of fleecing roughly 300 investors out of $140 million through their “Patriot Funds/Dollars” program, promising implausible 12–18% returns on risky loans while allegedly funneling $19 million into their own pockets (including a $320 000 rental home) and dumping $570 000 into political contributions. They round out the show with a look at federal policy and public-health alarms: DHS's sudden end to the 19-year shoe-removal rule, Pam Bondi's flip-flop on the Epstein “no list,” an “activist judge” stay blocking Planned Parenthood defunding, and the routine—but controversial—purge of 478 000 Georgia voter-registration records. On the home front, one in three U.S. teens now carries pre-diabetes, a Delta A330's engine failure led to a 30-hour layover in the Azores, and Washington County's DUI cover-up—where private hires of a certain public defender triggered wholesale dismissals—remains a cautionary tale. Unfiltered, unapologetic, and undeniably Georgia, it's another roller-coaster hour with Dave and Ken.

It's Witness Wednesday! In this episode of Wretched Radio's Witness Wednesday, Todd engages in philosophical and theological conversations with several Georgia Tech students about their beliefs and life's purpose. Todd speaks with Orin, a 22-year-old mechanical engineering student who shares his thoughts on Christianity and his own faith journey. Next, Todd talks with a French aerospace engineering student, who identifies as an atheist, discussing the complexity of belief systems and the concept of truth. Todd then converses with a student reading Malcolm Gladwell's 'The Tipping Point' and delves into how Christianity can be seen as a tipping point in human history. Lastly, Todd encounters a student who is rushing to the library. Throughout the episode, Todd uses analogies and thought experiments to explore the students' perspectives on God, morality, and the afterlife. Segment 1: • Orin, a 7th-generation namesake and mechanical engineer, admits he's unsure of his life's purpose despite claiming Christianity. • Todd challenges Orin's postmodern thinking, showing that “truth is truth,” not “truth for you.” • Orin claims faith but wrestles with whether Jesus is his greatest priority, revealing the difference between “believing” and being born again. Segment 2: • A French aerospace student admits he might believe in “a creator” but rejects organized religion and says no religion is true. • Todd uses design arguments and conscience to show him that God is both Creator and judge, requiring a payment for sin. • The student listens thoughtfully as Todd explains Christianity as “done for you” vs. “do more religion,” leaving him with the gospel. Segment 3: • A Christian student reading The Tipping Point agrees Jesus is the tipping point of history but struggles to articulate why Jesus alone is the way to God. • Todd presses him on gospel clarity: salvation is by repentance and faith, not works, and clarifies the true cost of following Christ. • The student recognizes the need for obedience flowing from salvation, not causing it, reinforcing gospel precision for listeners. Segment 4: • A student agrees design implies a designer but questions “Who made God?” and struggles with God's justice vs. man's morals. • Todd uses the conscience test (lying, lust, blasphemy) to show him his guilt before a holy God. • Despite acknowledging the gospel, the student chooses his “own beliefs” over Christ, illustrating the tragic yet common rejection of grace. ___ Thanks for listening! Episode overview: Bernard Laurendeau has a mission: to stop African business leaders from asking for "patient capital." The Ethiopian-French management consultant, now operating from Tokyo, believes this standard pitch fundamentally misunderstands how global investment works and fails African markets. It's a contrarian stance from someone who's spent 15 years advising Fortune 50 clients and building institutions across three continents. After co-founding Arifpay, Ethiopia's first licensed Payment System Operator, and serving as senior advisor to Ethiopia's jobs creation commission, Laurendeau has repositioned himself in Japan's corporate heartland with Laurendeau & Associates and Enkopa Lab. From his Tokyo base, Laurendeau delivers what he calls "execution horsepower" to both African governments and Japanese corporations seeking African market entry. His client portfolio spans Google and Cisco to UAE's Ministry of Finance, applying strategic frameworks honed at BNP Paribas to emerging market challenges. Key insights: - On financial sovereignty: Despite supporting fintech innovation, Laurendeau advocates fiercely for African countries maintaining control over their financial services infrastructure. - On Japanese business culture: Japanese organisations bring uncompromising quality standards to everything—"there's no such thing as downgrading." Whilst this limits their market share compared to Chinese competitors offering multiple price points, it creates superior knowledge transfer opportunities for African partners. - On data-driven decisions: Investors don't want to "think long-term"—they want confidence in their decisions. Laurendeau's experience with big data analytics in Silicon Valley informs his approach to providing real-time, actionable intelligence rather than outdated World Bank reports. - On innovation vs infrastructure: African entrepreneurs risk becoming "lazy" by chasing trendy technologies whilst neglecting "boring" fundamentals - On institutional building: African countries need people willing to do "Gov-preneurship": embedding with governments to build policies, institutions, and strategic frameworks. Most leaders are "lonely" and welcome diaspora expertise, contrary to corruption narratives. - On execution over ideology: Management consulting in emerging markets requires output orientation, not retainer relationships. Clients want expert advice immediately, not consultant armies producing fancy acronyms and quadrant analyses. Notable moments: 1. Why Laurendeau switched from mechanical and aerospace engineering (ENSTA France, Georgia Tech) to management consulting after realising security clearance barriers would limit his US career prospects 2. His observation that at Africa-focused investment conferences in Japan, "people were talking about Africa...with no Africans in the room" 3. Reflections on Arifpay achieving profitability and dividend distribution, proving African fintech could build sustainable, high-performing teams rapidly 4. His frank assessment that young Africans show more "thirst" for knowledge and change than their counterparts in developed economies, despite having fewer resources The contrarian take: Laurendeau's most provocative insight challenges the "patient capital" narrative that dominates African investment discourse. Rather than asking investors to adopt longer time horizons, he argues African markets should provide the confidence and data quality that enables rapid decision-making. Image credit: Enkopa Lab

Kelly Quinlan, the Publisher for the Rivals/On3Sports site, JacketsOnline joins Will and Jim for an ACC Nation football preview of Georgia Tech. It looks and feels like a very good year for the Ramblin' Wreck faithful and you'll find out why in this podcast. Quinlan goes thumbs up/thumbs down on the Yellow Jackets schedule and if the offensive firepower and reconfigured defense deliver it may well become 'Hot 'Lanta' on Saturdays at Bobby Dodd again. It's a schedule that could put the team into the midst of the Top 25 early in the season. Georgia Tech Will and Kelly explore the depth and add-ons on offense and defense that have so many excited about the trend this team has been on the last few years. The offense is staggeringly loaded with the return of QB Haynes King, RB Jamal Haynes and WR Malik Rutherford among others. She is interested in studying the relationship between language and other aspects of human cognition. In her work, she uses tools from cognitive neuroscience (such as fMRI) and artificial intelligence (such as large language models). In this episode, we talk about language from the perspective of cognitive neuroscience. We discuss how language relates to all the rest of human cognition, the brain decoding paradigm, and whether the brain represents words. We talk about large language models (LLMs), and we discuss whether they can understand language. We talk about how we can use AI to study human language, and whether there are parallels between programming language and natural languages. Finally, we discuss mapping models in cognitive neuroscience.--A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: PER HELGE LARSEN, JERRY MULLER, BERNARDO SEIXAS, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, PHIL KAVANAGH, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, FERGAL CUSSEN, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, ROMAIN ROCH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, NELLEKE BAK, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS FRY, FRANCA BORTOLOTTI, GABRIEL PONS CORTÈS, URSULA LITZCKE, SCOTT, ZACHARY FISH, TIM DUFFY, SUNNY SMITH, JON WISMAN, WILLIAM BUCKNER, PAUL-GEORGE ARNAUD, LUKE GLOWACKI, GEORGIOS THEOPHANOUS, CHRIS WILLIAMSON, PETER WOLOSZYN, DAVID WILLIAMS, DIOGO COSTA, ALEX CHAU, AMAURI MARTÍNEZ, CORALIE CHEVALLIER, BANGALORE ATHEISTS, LARRY D. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.splitzoneduo.comFor the Fourth of July, we look all the way back to the founding of … college football. Richard and Alex pick and debate the defining teams of each decade of the sport's history, starting with one year of the 1860s and rolling through the 2010s. Remember that “defining team” is usually complimentary, but not always. Without spoiling any of the discussion, this show features: * Rutgers vs. Princeton for the crown of the 1860s * Yale's case against everybody for the later 1800s * Why Michigan's 1900s was even more impressive than you think* Georgia Tech vs. the advent of the forward pass in the 1910s * That classic college football matchup: Alabama vs. Cal, for the ‘20s* Someone likes Pitt for the 1930s, and it's not Alex* Did the 1940s belong to Army and Navy, or did they belong to the school that best manipulated the rules meant to help people from the army and navy? * Why there will never be another program like 1950s Oklahoma, ever* A curveball for the ‘60s, but definitely not for the ‘70s * Penn State vs. SMU for the ‘80s * A brutal Nebraska vs. Florida State vs. Miami vs. Florida race for the ‘90s* In the 2000s, a chance to go off the beaten path instead of just picking Florida or USC: Will we take it? * No need to complicate the 2010s This is a subscriber episode of Split Zone Duo.Everyone can listen to a free preview of this show, and we offer weeklong free trials if you want to try us out. It's a great time of year to do it, and you can get a month free with an annual subscription. Thank you for listening, and we hope you have a great holiday weekend. Producer: Anthony Vito
It's Witness Wednesday! Todd Friel meets Phillip and Scott at Georgia Tech and explores topics around purgatory, capitalism, sin, and God's laws. Todd challenges Philip, who maintains dual French-American citizenship, on his beliefs about capitalism versus socialism and his reluctant acceptance of God, while addressing Scott's skepticism on God's justice and the nature of sin. These candid discussions reveal important insights into morality, belief, and human nature. Segment 1: • Philip admits he believes the Christian God makes the most sense but rejects Him to keep living how he wants. • Todd shows Philip that rejecting Jesus for “fun now” is choosing sin over eternal life, urging him to see Jesus as better than temporary pleasures. • Philip acknowledges he's choosing sin knowingly and is willing to face the consequences, even hell, to keep his current lifestyle. Segment 2: • Todd clarifies that Jesus' offer isn't just about avoiding hell but receiving kindness and mercy despite rebellion. • Philip admits he knows Jesus offers life but still rejects Him, saying he's fine with his choices for now. • Todd warns Philip he will face greater judgment for rejecting truth he fully knows, urging him to consider Jesus' kindness before it's too late. Segment 3: • Scott claims God is unjust for punishing humans He created, arguing people are like programmed robots with no choice. • Todd explains the standard of justice is based on the One sinned against (God), making every sin infinitely serious. • Scott insists the God of the Bible is evil, while Todd shows God's justice and kindness in sending Jesus to satisfy wrath and offer mercy. Segment 4: • Todd shares the “tribal king” analogy to explain how God satisfies justice while showing mercy by taking punishment Himself. • Scott insists God should simply forgive without punishment, rejecting the concept of divine justice requiring payment for sin. • Conversation ends with Todd urging Scott to see humanity's sinfulness and God's kindness, parting respectfully but with Scott unconvinced. ___ Thanks for listening! This week, Kyla and Jeremy are joined by the brilliant and hilarious Dr. André Brock, Associate Professor at Georgia Tech and certified expert in all things digital culture. They dive into how Black communities—especially Black women—have shaped the online world, from memes to movements. Dr. Brock breaks down the magic of “distributed Blackness,” why African American rhetoric matters in tech, and how the internet just wouldn't be the same without a little (okay, a lot of) Black excellence. It's smart, it's funny, and it might just change the way you see your timeline. Tune in for hot takes, real talk, and maybe a few tweets worth quoting.
It's Witness Wednesday! Todd Friel takes listeners to Georgia Tech today on Wretched Radio. Todd engages in thought-provoking conversations with several students, including a young man looking to pursue a career in research and development, a Catholic student who discusses the meaning of Easter, and two friends, exploring their beliefs and understanding of Christianity. Todd challenges them with questions about morality, the 10 Commandments, and the Gospel, encouraging them to reflect on their faith and the concept of salvation through Jesus Christ. Segment 1: • Grad student admits he's broken God's laws (lying, stealing, lust, disobedience). • Hopes his good works might offset guilt, but struggles to grasp grace alone. • Realizes salvation is not “Jesus makes up the difference” but “Jesus did it all.” Segment 2: • Catholic student says everyone is forgiven if they live a “good life.” • Admits to lying, lust, stealing music, and likely headed for hell by his own words. • Catholic student is presented with the full Gospel: not good works, but repentance and faith alone in Jesus. Segment 3: • Todd meets two friends who admit to breaking multiple commandments (lying, stealing, lust, anger). • They wrestle with the concept of justice: sin against an infinite God demands infinite punishment. • Todd clearly explains the Gospel as the only solution: Christ's full payment credited by grace alone. Segment 4: • One of the friends recalls prior conversation with Todd but still hasn't pursued the Bible or Gospel seriously. • The other friend admits failing God's standard but struggles with recognizing guilt fully. • Todd once again presents the Gospel in full: God's justice satisfied through Christ's substitutionary death. ___ Thanks for listening!
