The Ground of Being: Vasubandhu's Trisvabhāva-nirdeśa, 6-week, course Thursdays, 7:00pm - 8:30pm (Pacific) January 25th – February 29, 2024 Tuition: $270 The concept of the Trisvabhāva (‘Three Natures') is considered the conclusion of, what might be called, Buddhist ontology, the study of ‘being.' In the earliest forms of Buddhism, all phenomena are momentary and, therefore, quite impermanent. In the more developed forms of Mahāyāna Buddhism, the concept of Emptiness negates there being any thing to be. In light of Emptiness, how is the perceived world to be understood? That is the essence of the ‘Ground of Being' and the Yogacara teaching on the Three Natures, wherein all phenomena are understood to be fabricated, dependently originated, and yet completely perfect. This six-week course is based on Vasubandhu's brief 4th Century treatise on the Three Natures, the Trisvabhāva-nirdeśa, and is part of the LUSB Dharma series on the ‘Mind-Only' teachings of Yogacara Buddhism. The Space of Time: Buddhist Chronology and Kairology from kṣaṇas to kalpas 9:00am – 12:00pm (Pacific) Saturday, February 10th, 2024 Tuition: $90 ‘How long is a minute?' Why do we use spatial terms like ‘long' and ‘short' to speak of Time? Long before Einstein and Hawkings, Buddhist thinkers such as Dōgen and Nāgārjuna had already noted the inextricable relationships between Space and Time. This presentation is an overview of these Buddhist conceptions of Time; from kṣaṇas, the ‘nano-seconds' used to measure the arising and passing away of mental states, to kalpas, the longest measurement of time, which is immeasurable. In this way, Time will be explored in terms of chronology, the elapsing or passage of Time, and in terms kairology, specific instances or moments of Time.
In this episode, a whopping 36,000 gallons of water to extinguish a burning Tesla. The longer Biden waits the worse it gets. Former Obama advisor had a lot to say on new polling numbers.

Hosted on Acast. Tom Ford's new creative director opens up to Imran Amed about his progression in the fashion industry and his first womenswear collection for the brand. Background: When Tom Ford started his namesake brand in 2004, his longtime deputy at Gucci Peter Hawkings was his first call — and his first employee. Fast-forward to April 2023, Hawkings' phone rang again. Only this time, Ford said he was stepping down and putting Hawkings forward for the top job. “I didn't sleep for the first two nights. It was crazy,” Hawkings said of his reaction to the news that he would step into his longtime boss' shoes and become creative director of the eponymous brand he created. “But after all of that subsided, I realised that Tom [Ford] was giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. And I am, to this day, super grateful to him for giving me this chance to continue the legacy.”This week on The BoF Podcast, BoF founder and editor-in-chief Imran Amed sits down with Hawkings, the new creative director of Tom Ford following his runway debut at Milan Fashion Week to discuss his origins and journey into the fashion industry — and his plans to continue the Tom Ford legacy.Key Insights:It was in 1998 that Hawkings first met Ford, after finishing his master's course at Central Saint Martins. The then-24-year-old applied to the assistant menswear designer position at Gucci, where Ford was the brand's creative director. This would launch a 25-year partnership with the two designers and eventually lead to Hawkings becoming the creative director of the Tom Ford brand. Hawkings, who previously designed Tom Ford's menswear collections, said that he leaned on his wife when designing womenswear for the first time. “It's been invaluable, you know, having that conversation with her. Her trying clothing on, trying shoes on … for me, it's so important, comfort and fit and all of those elements that are so important when you're designing for a woman,” says Hawkings. During Hawkings' career, he had the opportunity to learn from not just Ford, but also other fashion talents, such as British designer Louise Wilson, who was one of his professors at Central Saint Martins. “I always go back … to the advice that Louise [Wilson] always gave me, which was one: work hard, absorb knowledge and give knowledge, understand what manners are and deploy them. Take risks. Failure is okay. You can learn from failure, for sure. Have at least one skill and develop it,” says Hawkings. Additional Resources:Peter Hawkings Named Creative Director of Tom Ford: With the sale to Estée Lauder complete, Tom Ford's longtime colleague and collaborator will take the creative helm at his namesake brand. The Miuccia-ness of Prada, the Gucci-ness of Tom Ford: Brand DNA is marketing speak until it isn't, as the latest Prada and Tom Ford collections proved. Thin Within Podcast With Marna Thall | Mental Secrets For Weight Loss Mastery
I absolutely love intuitive eating for its weight loss benefits. In addition to losing weight, the mental, emotional and physical benefits of a non-diet intuitive eating approach is recognized in numerous studies for all its in benefits. In this week's podcast, I want to remind you of the incredible benefits of intuitive eating backed by research. Discover These 7 Benefits of Intuitive Eating: Transform Your Relationship with Food and Thrive: Improved Psychological Well-Being: Research indicates that intuitive eating is associated with improved mental health outcomes. Studies have shown a reduction in depression, anxiety, and body dissatisfaction among individuals who practice intuitive eating (Tribole & Resch, 2012; Tylka & Kroon Van Diest, 2013). Enhanced Weight Management: Studies have found a positive link between intuitive eating and healthier weight management. A longitudinal study published in "Obesity" demonstrated that intuitive eating behaviors were associated with lower body mass index (BMI) and a reduced likelihood of obesity (Van Dyke & Drinkwater, 2014). Reduced Risk of Eating Disorders: Intuitive eating principles have been shown to be protective against the development of disordered eating patterns. Research published in the "American Journal of Health Education" indicated a negative correlation between intuitive eating and disordered eating behaviors (Hawkings & Matwiejczyk, 2019). Better Blood Sugar Control: Intuitive eating's emphasis on mindful eating may contribute to improved glycemic control. A study published in the "Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics" found that intuitive eating was associated with better blood sugar control in individuals with type 2 diabetes (Herbert et al., 2018). Healthier Dietary Patterns: Research suggests that intuitive eaters tend to adopt healthier dietary patterns. A study published in "Appetite" showed that intuitive eaters had higher intakes of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, while also consuming lower levels of saturated fat and added sugars (Herbert et al., 2018). Reduced Emotional Eating: Intuitive eating's focus on recognizing emotional triggers has been associated with reduced emotional eating behaviors. A study in the "Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior" found that intuitive eating was linked to lower levels of emotional eating (Camilleri et al., 2015). Positive Cardiometabolic Health: Intuitive eating may have favorable effects on cardiometabolic health markers. A study published in the "Health Education Journal" indicated that intuitive eating behaviors were associated with improved cholesterol and blood pressure levels (Hawkings & Matwiejczyk, 2019) These references provide insight into the research supporting the benefits of intuitive eating, reinforcing the notion that adopting intuitive eating principles can contribute to various aspects of physical and mental well-being.

Join Dr. Jeffrey Gladden and Steve Reiter as they chat with Philipp Samor von Holtzendorff-Fehling, the founder and CEO of Leela Quantum Tech and Quantum Upgrade. He is involved in energy and quantum medicine. Philipp is a coach, conscious entrepreneur, and energy healer. In parallel to a successful international business career, he constantly worked through blockages and barriers that prevented him from truly connecting with his true self. With that, he also started to see energy fields and developed his unique skills as a healer, and he went through two decades of training in shamanic and other energy healing practices. They talk about balancing energy fields, EMF effects, and how we can change the character and nature of the water we drink. In addition, they touch on the benefits of quantum energy frequencies on body function, cellular voltage, and chakras, how to neutralize EMF with quantum energies, and how to wake up your inner healer. Do you know how to block, neutralize, and bring EMFs into harmony? Listen to hear more. Listen to this episode to learn about making a hundred, the new thirty, and living beyond 120! Steve introduces Philipp Samor von Holtzendorff-Fehling. (00:25) Dr. Gladden mentions the areas Philipp is involved in and his areas of interest.

Her cut-to-order business model means customers are getting the freshest flowers possible, delivered the next day. They also discuss the importance of Instagram as a visual acquisition tool for Flowerbx, and why offline marketing doesn't work for the business. Además de la batería también tocaba otros instrumentos como el piano, hacia coros e incluso cantó canciones como “cold day in the sun” del álbum IN YOUR HONOR, “Have a cigar” del álbum learn to fly, y “Life of illusion del álbum TIMES LIKE THESE. Escucharemos de inmediato un mix que he creado para vosotros de estos 3 temas. Como pudieron apreciar TAYLOR poseía una gran capacidad artística, su partida sin duda representa un gran vacío para todos los amantes del rock! No queda más que agradecer por su aporte al género y desearle feliz retorno a casa! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Growling gurnards, drumming piranhas, calling toadfish – Did you know fish are one of the largest groups of sound-producing animals and have the greatest variety of specialized organs to make sounds? Tune in to hear Audrey Looby, a Ph.D. student with the University of Florida Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Department and Nature Coast Biological Station, discuss her innovative research on Gulf toadfish calling, intertidal soundscapes of a living and a hardened shoreline, and community-level impacts of anthropogenic noise pollution. Alongside a group of international collaborators, Audrey developed the FishSounds website – an online inventory of sound-producing fish species with recordings donated by researchers. Her review article associated with this project will be published in Reviews in Fish Biology and Fisheries later this year. Main points: Acknowledge your biases in science and in life. This week we talk with two people - Betsy Wright Hawkings - who has been chief of staff for numerous members of Congress, and Erica Hoffman - a Missouri state legislative candidate running on the Democratic ticket against a Republican incumbent. Betsy has been chief of staff for four members of Congress, giving her deep insight to the inner workings of our federal government. The years she spent on "The Hill" has given her deep insight into the inner workings of congress. She knows how things work, and how they don't work. She spends time with us this evening to not only describe the problems that extreme polarization and hyperpartisanship, but to talk about how we may fix our system and make it work for the people again. Erica is currently running for the Missouri 96th district House of Representatives. As a Democrat, she is challenging a Republican incumbent. She is a former school teacher who advocates heavily for educational issues. She's also very involved in several environmental issues, including the fight against the detrimental influence that CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) have on state politics. These CAFOs - also known as "Factory Farms" - are allowed to pollute our land and water, almost with impunity, even though they produce several more times the bio-waste than humans. Erica speaks very plainly and openly about the problems we face, not only locally in Missouri, but in the nation as a whole, and what she intends to do about them. An inspiring intermission message is provided thanks to Dennis Merritt Jones.
