Game 4 preview 12:00 - JJ Redick, one of the most experienced podcasters, gives some advice to Rex and Josh about what it takes to make something special. 15:30 - JJ describes where he was mentally after his sophomore season at Duke, and the impact of meeting Rex Chapman for the first time. 17:30 - After retiring at age 32, Rex had to ask JJ how much basketball he has left in him now at 37 years old. 20:30 - Redick is amazed at the career milestones he's made becoming one of the greatest 3-point shooters in NBA History. After 15 years in the league, JJ understood that you have to love the game of basketball to make it in the league this long. 23:00 - How JJ contributed to NBA discourse with his own podcast, and the issues both he and Rex have with how the sport is covered today in the hot take culture. 30:0 - When did JJ Redick know he had special hand-eye coordination? It's hard to pick against two of his best friends, Chris Paul and Jrue Holiday. 1:04:30 - How JJ Redick played a huge part of the next wave of the modern NBA where 3-pointers became the focal point of every offense. 1:09:30 - How difficult this season was playing in empty arenas and being hurt when the Mavericks were in the playoffs with a full crowd. I know that there are thousands of podcasters out there that are wanting to create a business around their show, BUT......they struggle with the concept of making sales to generate revenue. Rener Gracie is a JiuJitsu BlackBelt, an Entrepreneur, Inventor, and Chief Instructor at Gracie University- my jiujitsu academy. :) Rener is a third-generation Gracie, son of Rorian Gracie who is responsible for bringing the Self Defense Martial Art of JiuJitsu from Brasil to the states JiuJitsu is now one of the most popular martial arts disciplines being trained worldwide Rener is unarguably one of the greatest JiuJitsu Black Belts walking the planet and he is equally one of the greatest teachers of the martial art discipline. His love and passion for JiuJitsu are absolutely infectious as is his desire for the masses to learn JiuJitsu.  It was from his passion that Rener created the world's largest online platforms for learning Gracie JiuJitsu.  I believe Rener is truly an engineer at heart. His ingenuity is remarkable- he has a SOLUTION based mindset.  Not only is this easily seen through his incredible jiujitsu skills and all that he has created within his business, but it’s also what led him to create Quick Flip, a high-quality hoodie that shifts into a light wearing backpack. This invention took him on to Shark Week where he gave one of the greatest pitches (if not the best) the show has ever seen.  It actually went viral- it was THAT good.   One of the most notable aspects of Rener’s characters is his  “RENERGY.”  He is robust, potent, and effective in his creations + his communication skills as you will CLEARLY absorb from this epic talk.  On a personal note, I have to say Rener is one of the greatest guys I’ve ever met in my life. He is a loving husband to my girl, Eve Torres Gracie, and father to their two boys Raeven + Renson. He is my one of my brothers,  Mike Saffaie’s, very of best friends for great reasons- he is caring, genuine, and loyal. My family and Rener’s family have been very close for decades- they are those incredible + consistent friends who become family.  In this elevating conversation Rener and I get down on all things JiuJitsu:  How JJ affects your confidence How JJ came into my life When + Why Rener created Gracie University online  How Rener and GU family have pivoted through Covid to maintain business What Solo JJ is and why this is taking JJ skills + Rener’s problem-solving skills to an entirely new level  How + WHY JJ is more than a martial art but also an approach to life We also get down on talks on why Rener created Quick Flip and I promise you will not only be learning but also laughing with enjoyment as you take in his RENERGY. :) Honestly you guys, I cannot say enough great things about Rener, he’s the real thing and I’m so proud to share his incredible mindset and powerful frameworks with you all. It’s not even a question of if you will love this episode, the question is when are YOU starting JJ if you don’t already--it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life because of how it has impacts me on and off the mat.  I would love to ask for some support by sharing this EP on your IG stories and tag both Rener + I on it. Joining me today is JJ Virgin, who has been inducted into the Fitness Hall of Fame, television and media personality, and a four-time New York Times Best Selling Author. She has launched over 10 businesses and is a 2-time Inc 5000 Founder. She is recognized as an authority on transformational leadership, as a Top Ten Finalist for the John C. Maxwell Award, as well as winner of the Mindshare Summit Pinnacle award. JJ’s first experience writing a book was with a screenwriter she was dating at the time. She had a connection with the publisher of Chicken Soup for the Soul, who offered her several thousand dollars for the book. Instead, she decided to self-publish her book and sign a contract with her boyfriend that gave him 50% of everything she did for the rest of her life. Her second book, “Six Weeks from Sleeveless to Sexy,” went out to lunch with a publisher, went to an editor at Simon and Shuster, took off her jacket, and the editor immediately wanted to buy her book! However, JJ says, “If you are going with a traditional publisher, that’s not what you want to do!”. When creating her cookbook, The Virgin Diet, another author published a cookbook with the same name six months earlier. The only reason JJ wasn’t able to get out ahead of the other author is that she was traditionally publishing, which takes a much longer process to get your book from idea to print. She recommends self-publishing as you can easily create a second edition of your book with updates without a huge issue. Traditionally publishing costs a large amount of money to make changes to your finished first edition. JJ also gives advice about marketing and the creation of cookbooks that every cookbook author needs to know! Listen in to find out how cookbooks are different from regular books, why a cookbook is harder, and what you should and shouldn’t do when you are writing a cookbook. Learn why you have to make sure your cookbook numbers are dialed in before you publish, and her tips on self-publishing cookbooks.  Show Notes [02:52] JJ’s first book was created while dating a screenwriter.  [04:54] How JJ made the mistake of traditional publishing her second book. NFL football player, speaker and leadership coach, Bo Eason joins JJ today to discuss the importance of having big dreams. He explains the difference between setting goals and declaring yourself, and why declarations are so much more powerful. Declarations are long term and inform every aspect of our lives. They’ll talk about how important creating a successful environment is, including surrounding ourselves with people with common ambitions. Bo and JJ discuss how setbacks are just part of the process, and how overcoming obstacles makes us even stronger.   Freebies From Today’s Episode Download the first chapter of Bo’s book There’s No Plan B for Your A-Game by going to jjvirgin.com/bo   Main Points From Today’s Episode To be successful, you need to make a declaration. A goal is short term but a declaration informs everything we do in our lives. One of the major components to this is creating an environment for success. You must surround yourself with people who are on the same page as you are. When you fall off track, you just have to do some course correcting. The important thing is to let go of any shame and stay focused on that declaration.   Episode Play-By-Play [5:22] Bo discusses what inspired his determination to become the best NFL safety in the world. [7:28] Even though it’s very inspirational, there are listeners who may not want to become football players...How can you apply these lessons to yourself? [8:04] JJ shows how you can use Bo’s example and lessons to become the healthiest you. [8:40] Why the word declaration instead of goal? Bo explains the difference between a declaration and a goal. [10:54] If you live like a healthy, lean person, you will become that, over time. [11:05] Bo explains how he made his declaration at 9 years old. He wasn’t going to be the best safety at 9 years old, but he began living like he was. [11:50] Why you should get rid of your goals, and make a declaration instead. [12:20] One of the major components to this is creating an environment for success. You can’t lose weight if you are surrounded by people who don’t care about what is important to you. [13:40] Bo gives an example of one of his friends who is the 7th fastest recorded runner. Who do you think he hangs out with? [15:08] You get to decide if you want to be super healthy, or to stay mediocre and keep the body you have now. Once you make your declaration, watch the magic happen! [16:49] When you go off track, you just have to do some course correcting. [18:00] What we can learn from a plane’s automatic pilot mechanism [18:50] Bo explains why he loves obstacles. [20:55] How JJ’s friend Nicole overcame her body image issues [22:00] When you give yourself a big obstacle, one of the positive side effects is how much confidence and self worth you gain just from the daily process of overcoming challenges. [25:00] How instant gratification can hurt us [25:24] The big things that you look back on in your life are the things that took a lot of work. [25:50] To help you begin, Bo has a new book, There’s No Plan B for Your A-Game and he’s offering the first chapter free. Just go to jjvirgin.com/bo to download. [27:48] Why are so many successful people super healthy? [28:41] JJ’s challenges for you: (1) Make a declaration rather than a goal. (2) Give yourself realistic timelines. (3) Create a no-fail environment.   Mentioned in this episode: Subscribe to the JJ Virgin Lifestyle Show Become part of JJ’s community JJ Virgin Official Facebook page JJ Virgin on Instagram JJ Virgin on YouTube Ben Hardy, Willpower Doesn’t Work Bo Eason, There’s No Plan B for Your A-Game

It's not just about what you eat, it also matters WHEN you eat it! JJ deep dives into this important topic in today's podcast episode and shares how the timing of your meals can either set you up to burn fat or store it away. Listen as JJ shares the truth about snacking and whether you should eat breakfast, as well as the key to staying full for hours so you can go longer between meals. JJ also explains what you need to know before trying intermittent fasting and how a 12-14 hour fast can increase longevity and boost your ability to burn fat. Plus, JJ reveals what time of the day is the absolute worst time to eat! Can you guess?   Freebies From Today’s Episode Get JJ’s free Metabolism Boosting Recipe Guide by going to jjvirgin.com/metabolismguide.   Main Points From Today’s Episode The key to staying full for hours is the “satiety trifecta” of clean, lean protein, healthy fats, and fiber. https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/miracle JJ Virgin is one intimidating, yet amazing, woman. Seriously. I've had a chance to hang with JJ on numerous occasions over the past several years, and, at over 6 feet tall, strikingly beautiful, fit, muscular and with a sharp, keen intelligence and wit, she's one of those women who probably would have been a queen or, perhaps, an Amazonian warrior were she born at some other time in history. But, in fact, JJ is actually a celebrity nutrition and fitness expert and author of : The Virgin Diet, The Virgin Diet Cookbook, JJ Virgin’s Sugar Impact Diet, and JJ Virgin’s Sugar Impact Diet Cookbook. But her recent memoir, , in which she explores the powerful lessons in strength and positivity that she learned after her son Grant was the victim of a brutal hit-and-run accident, is perhaps the most meaningful and life-changing of all her titles. One of my biggest takeaways from the book was the enormous number of frustrations that JJ  encountered while attempting to navigate the modern medical system, and to keep her son from dying, not recovering properly, or being seriously harmed by modern medicine, along with her extreme willingness and stubbornness in incorporating every aspect of alternative health and natural medicine into a modern hospital setting...with shocking results. If you want to be fully equipped to deal with any trauma that might land you in a modern hospital industry or having to deal with close-minded physicians and caretakers, this podcast is a must-listen for you.
