Antifa riots are a rare thing in most of America, but in Seattle the radical left has dominated the streets for years. Long-suffering local Jason Rantz breaks down the national lessons from Antifa's reign of terror in Seattle, explaining how far-left organizers escalate rhetoric, put people in danger, and even exploit deaths to keep protests going. Then, Alex Marlow analyzes the Trump administrationās messaging pivot on immigration and explains why the left's martyr-making machine could backfire. Do you know the true narratives that shape the people, animals and lands of the Salish Coast? This episode of All My Relations explores Lushootseed creation stories as living knowledge, used to understand the past, guide us through the present and prepare us for an uncertain future.Make your face still and quit moving your tailbone as you listen to our conversation with Puyallup Tribal Language Director Amber Hayward and Tidelands co-curator Ashley Frantz (Makah). Amber Hayward walks us through how Lushootseed creation histories were documented in the English language, and only fully understood contemporarily through the movement to revitalize Lushootseed, the language of the Salish Coast. Through this episode we begin to understand the importance of these histories, how to tell and listen to them in a good way and even hear part of the creation story told in Lushootseed.Ashley Frantz joins the conversation to talk about the upcoming art gallery exhibition at All My Relations' home base Tidelands. A group exhibition co-created with the Puyallup language department and in collaboration with 8 other Tribal Lushootseed language departments (and Lummi).Ā The exhibition will be opening February 7th at 6 PM. All are welcome to the opening reception as well as to see the exhibition which runs through July 2026. We went back into the archives to see how we actually reacted when Sam Darnold signed with Seattle, and it turns out we barely reacted at all. Instead of breaking down Darnold, we immediately pivoted to what it meant for everyone else. Now that Darnold is in the Super Bowl, we revisit that moment and ask what we missed. Plus, a surprising on-air moment involving Jerry Recco and an open Tampa Bay Buccaneers radio job. Why didn't Jerry bring it up directly, what the role really entails, and why this might be a bigger opportunity than it sounds. A mix of hindsight, media honesty, and a classic WFAN sidebar that turns into something much more interesting.

College football doesn't really end anymore. The clock hits :00. The trophy gets handed out. And almost immediately, the sport gets loud again. Portal moves, litigation, coaching changes, CFP debates and more. Oh, and by the way, we've also got a Super Bowl coming up with Seattle vs. New England. (Hello Elite 11 finalists Sam Darnold and Drake Maye)With everything seemingly happening all at once in football, there's a race to be first instead of thoughtful. It's the same in the content world. Instant reaction shows. Social posts fired off before the dust settles. Takes delivered as fast as possible. That's not how we do it at Y-Option.Y-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. After the Hoosiers hoisted their hardware, we took a pause. And today, we took a detailed look back at the season that was in 2025.Today's episode of Y-Option, fueled by our founding sponsor 76Ā® ā keeping you on the GO GO GO so you never miss a beat, is with Jim Thornby. For nearly two hours, we just talked. No timer. No rush. Multiple cups of coffee. Dozens of teams. Real perspective. One hundred and five minutes later, the result was less of a āpodcastā and more of a conversation. And as we talked, one thing became clear:* The biggest change in college football isn't happening at the top. It's happening in the middle. The 12-team Playoff didn't just give more teams access, it changed the psychology of the sport. Suddenly, programs sitting fourth, fifth or sixth in their conference are making million-dollar decisions with almost no margin for error.Quarterbacks cost more. Mistakes cost more. One Saturday can swing an entire donor base's belief. We talk about why that reality is both exciting and dangerous and why the sport still hasn't figured out how to handle what comes after the final whistle. We went league by leagueānot to rank them, but to understand them. The Big Ten's rise isn't accidental, it's legit and not going anywhere but up. The SEC isn't broken, but it's no longer bulletproof. The ACC looked chaotic⦠until Miami made a run that forced everyone to re-think the narrative. And the Big 12? Still searching for the moment that changes how the country sees it.Context matters. And it's usually the first thing lost online. We also spent time on the Pac-12, a place that impacted both of us deeply, as it steps into a new reality.Looking back was a reminder that Oregon State and Washington State found ways to survive, even when the odds were stacked against them. And now, under the leadership of Commissioner Teresa Gould, they're building something with substance: proven head coaches, programs with real momentum, and a league that still has a path to the CFP.That's why we made this episode. To celebrate the game and coach the viewer. We know it's ātoo longā according to the experts and the algorithms. But Y-Option wasn't created to win an algorithm. It was built to serve the thoughtful college football fan, coach, and player. So before we sprint forward into the Super Bowl, Signing Day, and Spring Ball, let's take one last look back at where we've been as a sport. As always, thank you for being here. It's been a huge few weeks for the electric vehicle industry ā at least in North America. After a major trade deal, Canada is set to import tens of thousands of new electric vehicles from China every year, and it could soon invite a Chinese automaker to build a domestic factory. General Motors has also already killed the Chevrolet Bolt, one of the most anticipated EV releases of 2026.How big a deal is the China-Canada EV trade deal, really? Will we see BYD and Xiaomi cars in Toronto and Vancouver (and Detroit and Seattle) any time soon ā or is the trade deal better for Western brands like Volkswagen or Tesla which have Chinese factories but a Canadian presence? On this week's Shift Key, Rob talks to Greig Mordue, a former Toyota executive who is now an engineering professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, about how the deal could shake out. Then he chats with Heatmap contributor Andrew Moseman about why the Bolt died ā and the most exciting EVs we could see in 2026 anyway.Shift Key is hosted by Robinson Meyer, the founding executive editor of Heatmap, and Jesse Jenkins, a professor of energy systems engineering at Princeton University. Seattle Democrats promised affordability and delivered the exact oppositeārents skyrocketing to $3,695 for a three-bedroom while housing permits hit their lowest level since 2011. Shocking, right? As usual, progressive policies like rent control caps, millionaire taxes, and a proposed payroll tax are doing what they always do: pushing out landlords, developers, and businesses while constricting housing supply. Meanwhile, the new socialist mayor gets to explain why her affordability platform is colliding with economic reality. We break down how Washington's anti-landlord policies, bureaucratic red tape, and tree-hugging regulations are sending rents to the moon while builders flee to business-friendly states like Oklahoma and Texas. With the World Cup coming and tech workers still moving in, there's only one direction these rents are headedāand it's not down.Think Seattle can regulate its way to affordable housing? How long until three-bedroom rents crack $4,000? Drop your predictions below, and if you're tired of watching progressive policies fail in real time, smash that subscribe button for more reality checks on government incompetence and socialist economics.
We've got a jam packed show. We leadoff the show recapping Derrick Rose's jersey retirement ceremony. Coach Smoke was in the building and gave us his thoughts on the ceremony. We look back at the Bears' Divisional Playoff loss to the Rams. Was the Caleb Williams TD Pass to take the game to OT the greatest pass we'd ever seen? We discuss Championship Weekend in the NFL as New England and Seattle head to the Super Bowl. And we look back on Indiana's historic run to a National Championship.Ā
We had a defensive standoff in Denver and a scorefest in Seattle to determine our final two teams. In the end, the Patriots outlasted the Broncos and the Seahawks outscored the Rams. We react to the games, more coaching decisions, a very odd Pro-Bowl schedule, and early Super Bowl thoughts. Feliks Banel's guest on this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY is Devlin Donnelly, a Seattle man who modestly calls himself a "history enthusiast." Donnelly recently put two-and-two together and figured out that a demolition and construction project not far from the Seattle waterfront is underway near what may be the location of an old ship buried there in the 19th century. The ship is the bark "Windward," and it was once used as a breakwater at the foot of Madison and Marion Streets. When the waterfront tidal area was filled in during the 1880s, the ship was left in place and buried. Many have written about the ship, including long-ago historians Clarence Bagley and C.T. Conover; more recently, Jean Sherrard wrote about the "Windward" for the Seattle Times' Now & Then column. CASCADE OF HISTORY spoke with Devlin Donnelly on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Animals and music? What a tantalizing mix! In a fascinating conversation with scientist and musician Dr. Diego Ellis Soto we learn about the way animals move - through music. When animals swarm, mill, or migrate, patterns are revealed. Soto explains that animals all prefer to move together with proper space, time, and direction....just like harmony in music. Sotoās work combines his academic work and his passion for music to create a fresh look at how we should think about nature in motion. It is a way to express complex data about animal movement in a way that is easy for people to understand. And that can be a powerful tool to inspire conservation. This episode might just make you think very differently about how you look at, or maybe hear, nature and its creatures. Aaron Judge is officially revealed as the MLB The Show cover athlete for the second time in his career. The guys run through the full history of the game's cover athletes, react to Judge joining a very short list, and debate whether it means anything at all without another Yankees ring to go with it. Then the show completely veers off the rails with Cinco de Luncho, as Shaun Morash unveils his list of 2026 sports events he already knows he does not care about. Dodgers fatigue, World Baseball Classic arguments, Rangers post Olympic apathy, World Cup rooting rules, and Lindsey Vonn Olympic promos all turn into rapid fire arguments that only escalate as the list goes on. The hour keeps rolling with callers weighing in on Mets clubhouse chemistry, Lindor and Soto leadership dynamics, Idiots With Idioms callbacks, Patriots fans defending their Super Bowl path, and a deeper conversation about Sam Darnold, Seattle's rise, and why so many preseason takes aged poorly. It is a classic Evan and Tiki final hour where baseball, basketball, football, lists, and nonsense all collide at once.
Evan unloads a rapid-fire stack of reports that all point to one wild possibility: the Knicks making a real run at Giannis Antetokounmpo before the NBA trade deadline. They dig into the smoke around Giannis potentially leaving Milwaukee, Rich Paul circling, Portland lurking as a multi-team power broker, and the Knicks quietly testing the market on Karl-Anthony Towns. Then the debate gets real: does a Giannis blockbuster raise the ceiling or shrink the window? What does it cost (Bridges, KAT, McBride, swaps), and can the Knicks actually win with chemistry and health risks midseason? Plus, the guys react to fan calls, the idea that Giannis' personality might play very differently in New York, and a head-scratching Mike Brown moment where he admits he doesn't even know the upcoming schedule. To close out Hour 1, the conversation swings to Super Bowl talk: Seahawks vs Patriots, why Seattle feels like the better team, and whether New England can keep pulling off wins even if the score doesn't always look pretty.
