Why are you searching for any other leader when you already have the perfect King? A Christmas devotional by Vince Miller.
The Gift That Keeps On Giving
What does peace mean? Is it a feeling when everything is calm and quiet? Is it a ceasefire between two enemies? As we continue our Christmas Sermon Series "Unto Us a Child is Born," we look at the last title used for the coming Messiah in Isaiah 9:6 which is "Prince of Peace." We need peace in our lives and peace in this world, but we must truly understand what peace is and be sure that we are not settling for or seeking a false peace. Then, we can fully trust Christ as our Prince of Peace.
This sermon is called "Everlasting Father" as we continue to look at the titles for the coming Messiah given in Isaiah 9:6. It is interesting to think of the baby born in the manger on Christmas Day as being an "everlasting father". We see how we all need a true father to watch over us, teach us, and protect us. Sometimes we have great examples of this in our earthly fathers, but sometimes we don't. Jesus is, for us, the fulfillment of what all our earthly fathers should be, and he is "everlasting" meaning he never gives up on us, never leaves us or forsakes us.

Christmas is the gift we want but Jesus is the gift we need. Zachariah prophesied the coming of our Savior. We must remember and be thankful for “he has visited” (Luke 1:67-68). We must embrace the gift of wisdom from the Wonderful Counselor, gift of strength from the Mighty God, the gift of identity from the Everlasting Father, and the gift of peace from the Prince of Peace. Let's be thankful for the divine difference that Christmas signals in all our lives.
Peace with God. Peace Within. Peace with others. Am I a peace taker or am I a peace maker?
We continue our Christmas sermon series called "A Child is Born" as we look at the descriptions of the coming Messiah in Isaiah 9:6. This sermon is called "Mighty God" and see that the baby born in the manger is actually the mighty God who created and sustains all things.

Over the next month, people will gather in places all around the world to sing the famous "Handel's Messiah." In grand style they will declare "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." These are the words of Isaiah 9:6. As we walk toward Christmas over the next several weeks, in a sermon series called "Unto Us a Child is Born," we will be looking at the incredible titles from Isaiah 9:6 which help us to better understand Jesus Christ, the Messiah. This sermon is called "Wonderful Counselor" and we look at the powerful truth that in the darkness and lostness of this world Christ was born to bring the wisdom of God so that we might know who God is and know God's incredible plan to save us.
This morning, Sam shared with us about Peace. What the scriptures say, what Jesus said and what people from the church have said about... Peace. This is the audio podcast.
The Messianic Prophecies in the Old Testament consistently speak of the Coming Messiah as being both GOD and MAN (the unique God-man). The prophecies were given so that we might recognise the true Messiah when He comes. The New Testament proclaims that all these Prophecies were fulfilled in the Person of Jesus Christ. He is the LORD JESUS CHRIST (Lord = His Deity, Jesus = His humanity, and Christ means Messiah). He is the unique God-man Messiah. So, the New Testament is perfectly consistent with the Old Testament revelation, and proclaims that all these Prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Derek studies a number of these God-man Messianic Prophecies, which prove that Jesus is the Messiah, including Genesis 3:15, 4:1, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, Micah 5:2, 1Chronicles 17:11-14, Jeremiah 23:5-6, Proverbs 30:4, Job 9:32-33, 19:23-27, Psalm 110:1-5. These confirm that Jesus is both fully Man and fully God, and therefore He is uniquely able to save us, if we call upon His Name, and He is worthy of our love and worship.

Peace and quiet. It's a beautiful thing. Biblical peace is about so much more; it's about wholeness. But the journey to wholeness is not easy because it demands seeing the whole picture, which means seeing the things we don't want to see. Join us for All I Want For Christmas Is Peace.

Are you where you thought you'd be this Christmas season? Are you where you wish you were? The truth is God can only meet us where we are, not where we wish we were. And once we get honest with God and ourselves about where we are, we may find God surprising us and coming near us. In this message, Scott Savage kicks off our God With Us series by talking about where God meets us. He also sits down for a powerful conversation with a couple from Cornerstone who have experience God's presence during the darkest of days in their marriage.

The Gospel proclaims that God became a man in the Person of Jesus Christ in order to save us. Jesus Christ is not just a man, but he is fully God, He is God the Son, the second Person of the Trinity, and because He is God, He is worthy of our full devotion, our absolute love and loyalty, the total submission of our heart and life, our wholehearted worship and service. The Deity of Christ is expressed by the main Christian Confession: “Jesus is LORD” (Romans 10:9). This confession expresses our personal submission to Jesus as our Lord and God (John 20:28). It is essential for our salvation to know and believe that Jesus is both fully GOD and fully MAN, because believing in the TRUE JESUS is the KEY to receiving ETERNAL LIFE. The Deity of Christ is the foundational truth that Jesus emphasised in Matthew 16, when He announced the formation of His Church, saying that this is the key revelation that was required for any man to be blessed with eternal life and to become part of His Church. It was necessary for the Messiah to be God, for His mission was to be the SAVIOUR of mankind, saving us from the dominion of sin, death and hell, and the Bible is clear that ONLY GOD can be our SAVIOUR (Isaiah 43:11): “SALVATION is of the LORD” (Jonah 2:9). The Messianic Prophecies in the Old Testament consistently speak of the Coming Messiah as being both GOD and MAN (the unique God-man). Therefore, when Jesus claimed to be both God and man, He was claiming to be the fulfilment of these Prophecies. Therefore, the New Testament is perfectly consistent with the Old Testament revelation, and it proclaims that all these Prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus Christ. After introducing this subject, we study a number of these God-man Prophecies, and in the next video in this Series, we will go on to study even more of these most important Prophecies.
