As Congress prepares for an upcoming public hearing, "UFO World" is inherently impatient when it comes to getting straight answers. Those who follow the topic want the full truth and they want it now. For potential witnesses and whistleblowers, however, the risks of testifying to Congress about secret programs and military deceptions are all too real. In this compelling episode, George Knapp and Jeremy Corbell explore the daunting dangers that confront any insider who wants to tell Congress what they know. Attorney and lifelong UFO researcher Richard Beckwith, who has recently released a history of excessive secrecy and how it has affected the search for truth about UAP, explains why any witness who's held a formal security clearance must be very careful about spilling secrets, even to Congress. There are legal risks, but also significant real life consequences, even if the witnesses are never prosecuted for testifying. Also in this episode, aerospace executive and NASA consultant Mike Gold reveals the confusion surrounding recent allegations about an outbreak of "SCIF Flu" among previous congressional witnesses and why closed door briefings to Congress about UAP programs did not materialize. Recorded at the 2025 Humans to the Moon and Mars Summit (H2M2) in Washington, D.C., this episode features two powerful conversations about the future of human space exploration. Hosted by Mat Kaplan, senior communications adviser at The Planetary Society, these panel discussions explore the scientific and diplomatic foundations guiding humanity’s journey beyond Earth. The first panel, Space Science: A Vital National Interest, features James Green, former NASA chief scientist and chair of the Explore Mars advisory board, James Garvin, chief scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Britney Schmidt, astrobiologist and associate professor at Cornell University, and John Mather, Nobel Prize–winning astrophysicist and senior scientist for the James Webb Space Telescope. They discuss how space science drives innovation, strengthens U.S. national priorities, and deepens our understanding of the universe, especially in the face of proposed funding cuts. In the second panel, Artemis Accords: International Collaboration in Deep Space, Mike Gold of Redwire, Marc Jochemich of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Adnan Mohammad Alrais of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, and Sohair Salam Saber of The Hague Institute for Global Justice explore how diplomacy and shared values are shaping global participation in lunar exploration. The conversation also highlights the Washington Compact, an effort to bring shared values and responsible behavior in space to commercial companies and other non-governmental organizations. We wrap up the show with a new What’s Up segment with Bruce Betts, where we talk about what could happen if the Gateway lunar space station is canceled, and how that would impact humanity’s dreams for Mars. Patrick discusses Mike Gold's answers from a follow up Q&A after the November 13th House Hearing on UAP.
Truth and transparency are red-hot buzzwords in Washington these days. New inquiries into old secrets within multiple agencies have been launched, but what about NASA? America's space agency has been overtly hostile to UFO and UAP mysteries for decades, but what secrets might be hidden in its archives? Veteran space executive and NASA consultant Mike Gold, one of four witnesses to testify at the most recent Congressional hearing into UAP, thinks NASA files could be extremely valuable to UAP-related research, including clues that could unlock how to replicate exotic substances and metamaterials in zero gravity and possibly data that might shed light on historic UFO incidents. Gold is a member of NASA's UAP Study Committee. He previously spent a decade with Bigelow Aerospace, a private company which partnered with the Defense Intelligence Agency in an ambitious (but secret) study of the UFO enigma. In this candida conversation with Jeremy and George, Gold expressed optimism about the future of both space exploration and the potential of public-private partnerships in seeking transparency and genuine understanding of UFO-related questions. Hot on the heels of the US election, we're looking ahead to consider whether the upcoming government changes will impact the push for UFO disclosure, or the November 13 UAP hearing in Congress. We also discuss persistent rumors that the James Webb Space Telescope has detected signs of life, and why it's probably nothing to get excited about. We'll be back with an episode soon after the hearing! Update: Congress announced the list of witnesses for the UAP hearing shortly after we recorded. (That's what we get for trying to record early!) Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet and former head of AATIP Lue Elizondo will be joined by journalist Michael Shellenberger (who broke the Immaculate Constellation story), and Mike Gold, a former NASA official who spent 13 years working Bigelow Aerospace. What if we could grow organs tailored for a specific person's body or develop energy far more abundant, reliable, and inexpensive than anything we've ever had before?Could we create technology that boosts national security and possibly makes world peace more likely? Those goals may seem like science fiction but they are very real and muchcloser to reality than many of us realize. And they're happening in outer space.Today, Sara welcomes Mike Gold, Chief Growth Officer at Redwire. He is also the former NASA Associate Administrator for Space Policy and Partnerships among many other roles there. Mr. Gold is relentlessly optimistic about the flood of innovation in space that will change our lives here on Earth.Gold tells Sara about the huge potential to end the current practice of waiting on others to die in hopes of getting an organ transplant. Instead, he says custom-made organs could be made for people in space. Gold says there is already tremendous progress on growing other types of human tissue, and he explains why there is so much more promise for this technology by doing it in space. In addition to organs, Gold says space is also where we're going to develop more effective medication for everything from insulin to cancer drugs.Sara also gets Gold's thoughts on the unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) better known as UFO's, whether he believes intelligent life has visited us, and why the process of investigating that question could bring us even more amazing innovations. Finally, they discuss how all of this groundbreaking research is happening through very close partnership between the federal government and the private sector. With so much bad news on this planet. knowing what life-changing improvements may be just around the corner, is reason for optimism. Thanks for being a part of the Sara Carter Show.Time stamps:0:05 Are we on the brink of massive technological change?2:56 Mike Gold joins the Sara Carter Show4:49 Space exploration unites us7:42 Space Force is very important10:11 Are we doing enough?15:53 We could get blown up right now...18:33 Inside the Artemis accords21:34 3D printing organs in space25:38 Working with other corporations27:27 UAP latest34:45 Where do we go from here? Please visit our great sponsors:Goldcohttp://saralikesgold.comGet your free gold kit today and learn how to get $10,000 in bonus silver. Binge BBQ with the legendary Mike Gold as we discuss the way his hiring at DC Comics was all Neal Adams' fault, how the guerrilla marketing he learned from Abbie Hoffman helped him quadruple direct market sales, the Steve Ditko Creeper cover which sent a not-so-secret message to publisher Carmine Infantino, why editor Murray Boltinoff compared Marvel Comics to the Beatles (and not in a good way), which staffer was "the most disgusting human being I'd ever met in my life," how First Comics was born, his secret weapon for getting creators to deliver their work on time, our differing contemporaneous exposure to Fantastic Four #1 (and how his related to Merrick Garland), the way an off-hand comment led to a classic John Byrne comic, how the comic book field is like a donut shop, and much more.

Let's not start off with a silly joke about how everything Mike touches turns to Gold. Oops, too late. But Mike Gold has had one of the more interesting careers in comics, starting with a stint as DC's first public relations manager in the early 80s. He's perhaps best known for launching First Comics later that decade, featuring a murderer's row of talent, including Frank Brunner, Mike Grell, Howard Chaykin, Joe Staton, Steven Grant, and John Ostrander (some of whom you can hear in previous interviews). And check out these seminal and influential books First churned out: American Flagg, GrimJack, Nexus, Badger, Dreadstar, and Jon Sable Freelance. As if that wasn't enough, Mike returned to DC and edited a whole bunch more amazing titles, like Legends, The Question, Action Comics Weekly, Hawkworld, and the Mike Grell masterpiece, Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters. As we wait for the launch of Artemis 1, we explore the Artemis Accords: a shared set of principles for exploring space, signed now by more than twenty nations. The accords outline a set of peaceful behaviors and shared values, including the open sharing of scientific data, safe disposal of orbital debris, commitments to mutual aid, and practices for using space resources and preservation. Mike Gold, former Associate Administrator of Space Policy and Partnerships at NASA, helped draft these accords and joins the show to share why they're important, how they came together, and the immense practical benefit of having global norms in space. Casey and Mat also discuss the context and meaning of the Artemis 1 mission following their visit to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. To kick off Season 6, we are joined by comrade, friend-of-the-pod, and Indiana University South Bend associate professor of English Benjamin Balthaser to talk about Mike Gold's amazing proletarian lit masterpiece, Jews Without Money (1930). If you haven't heard of this semi-autobiographical novel about growing up on the Lower East Side at the turn of the 20th century, it's because US reactionaries tried very hard to bury the history of 1930s communist literature – and succeeded for a long time. We talk about left efforts to recover that history, plus Gold's moving, hilarious, sad, and often shocking portrait of life in a Jewish tenement. We read the 1996 Carrol & Graf edition with an introduction by ultra-lib Alfred Kazin. You must read this introduction to, like us, get very mad and so you will understand why we dunk so hard on it. Ah, the end-of-history ‘90s, folks. Back in November, Mike Gold, a powerlifter from New York, filmed himself attempting a set of squats at his gym in preparation for a meet. According to his account, he failed to correctly "screw on" one competition collar on his barbell while getting ready to squat. In turn, while walking out with the barbell resting on his shoulders, one collar soon slid off, and along with it, roughly 60kg in plates. The collar and the plates on the opposite side quickly joined the others on the floor.

THE REDFIELD ARTS REVUE Episode 5: Mark Redfield In Conversation With Mike Gold At Baltimore Comic-Con ALSO OLD TIME RADIO REVISITED With Martin Grams, Jr. - Superman On The Radio! "I’ve known Mike Gold casually for a few years, having met at a Baltimore Comic Con, and every year when he and I sit next to each other in artist Mark Wheatley’s Insight Studios booth we just chat our fool heads off. That is , when Mike isn’t off to some panel discussion to impart wisdom and insight gained from over thirty years in the comic book industry as an editor or publisher. Mike Gold started in the comics industry at DC Comics in the 70s, and then went on to launch First Comics in 1983 during that fertile decade, a happy time, the 80s, when both indie comics and indie films could flourish, be creative and find a way to market and to an audience. Mike went back to DC comics and continued his successful career as an editor, and in 2006 he founded ComicMix with Glenn Hauman and Brian Alvey. So, at the 2018 Baltimore Comic Con, while we sat at booth number 118 merrily chatting our fool heads off, I asked him if I could turn the recorder on, and in the roaring, noisy convention center hall asked him about the current state of the comic book industry, especially for creators, be they newcomers or seasoned pros…" - Mark Redfield For more great audio be sure to visit http://www.redfieldartsaudio.com
