Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on 2010's Deadly Premonition. We revisit the Twin Peaks of it all, and then discuss some of the more mechanical aspects of the game, particularly the profiling and the combat. And then there's that open world. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Past/to the Sawmill (Tim/Brett) Issues covered: schedule of the next couple weeks, rewatching the Twin Peaks pilot, homage or theft?, leaning into the uncanny valley, things in video games we don't want to show people, technical limitations, localization issues, copying the diner, pricing items, music choices and tones and creepiness, adaptation and filters, conversations about rain, an artifact, survival horror elements, profiling, going through the clues, York putting together the profile, putting the player in the crime scenario, who is Zach?, hot take from Tim: "serial killers are bad news," having confidence in the story, dipping into the combat, aiming and lock-on, failing QTEs, random QTEs vs not, picture-in-picture, talking to Zach in the car, walking around the town after dark, the horrible map and how it interacts with driving conversations, a mechanic to help you understand the game that you don't understand, learning the space, car/character relativity, peeking into buliding windows, zombies after midnight and the blood moon, similarities to Silent Hill 2, the difficulty of making this at AAA scale, unorthodox mechanics, good moment-to-moment gameplay, publisher cachet, hearing about the games. Diadaptasi dari binge watching netflix series nya “Mindhunter” ternyata kita semua ini punya pola yang ngebentuk kita sebagai manusia yang sekarang, looking for the ‘whys' because everything has a reason i guess
Put down your true crime coloring book, turn off that third rewatch of Mindhunter, and triple-check your locks, because today we're getting a broader understanding of active serial killers.Maybe they didn't go extinct.Maybe they changed their ways just enough that we stopped noticing. We're not talking about Jeffrey Dahmer's glasses or the psychology of Ed Kemper. We're talking about the now.Because while Netflix has made a buffet of the past's worst men, we seem to forget:They're still out there.Still watching.Still following.Still killing. But now? They've adapted to a world with doorbell cameras, automatic license plate readers, and a public that no longer pays attention unless there's a trailer attached. We prefer our killers archived, not active.Dead, not digital.Cold case, not current. But that's a myth. And today, we're breaking it wide open.Sources:Houston Serial Killer (Law &Crime Network)https://youtu.be/DWF-sP7M92g?s...The Disturbing Trait That Almost all Serial Killers Share (Grunge)https://youtu.be/XVNxZmPwU0s?s...New England Serial Killerhttps://youtu.be/7SGTmBEuKyM?s...Smiley Face Killer (Oxygen)https://youtu.be/Ju_RvpH7ng0?s...Samuel Little (Oxygen)https://youtu.be/CJImvxxuERU?s...Israel Keyes (ABC News)https://youtu.be/9mztHlgThj0?s...MMIW & Girls (Broads Next Door)https://open.spotify.com/episo...Why Are There Fewer Serial Killers? The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit is one of the best-known and most important units within the bureau. The use of profiling and psychology to apprehend criminals has revolutionized how we understand and identify them. It has also been the subject of popular TV shows, such as Criminal Minds and Mindhunter, and movies like The Silence of the Lambs. However, it is not without controversy. In fact, there are some people who think it doesn't work at all. Learn about the development of the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit and how agents utilize profiling and behavioral analysis to catch criminals on this episode of Everything Everywhere Daily. To this day, some still believe Amanda Knox is guilty of the horrific murder of Meredith Kercher in 2007. However, this belief appears to stem entirely from the wildly sensational media coverage surrounding her supposed involvement. Thorough examination of the facts of the case have clearly shown that Amanda was wrongfully convicted of this terrible crime. This time on For the Innocent, Michael Semanchik welcomes a panel of experts to explore how Amanda Knox's case gained such incredible notoriety and how the truth was obscured by a series of mistakes, assumptions, and media distortion. Michael is joined by Martina Cagossi, Justin Brooks, and Mark Olshaker to walk listeners through the facts of the case, explain the prevalence of false confessions in high-stress situations, and discuss how Amanda's “trial by media” ultimately overshadowed clear evidence that should have set her free. Martina Cagossi is a criminal lawyer based in Milan, Italy. She is the co-founder and Program Manager of the Italy Innocence Project. Justin Brooks is a Professor at University of San Diego School of Law. He is a board member of The Innocence Center and co-founder of the California Innocence Project. Mark Olshaker is a writer and Emmy-award winning filmmaker. He authored the international bestseller MINDHUNTER, the basis for the acclaimed Netflix series.
Mindhunter is an absolutely riveting, addicting, and intellectually gripping series that redefines the crime drama genre. From the very first episode, it plunges you into a hauntingly realistic portrayal of the early days of criminal profiling at the FBI. The attention to detail, the slow-burn narrative, and the disturbingly accurate depictions of real-life serial killers make it one of the most intense and thought-provoking shows I've ever watched. What a phenomenal interview! Getting to know the details about his role as Jerry Brudos and the show, that kind of insight is priceless! As season one of the show progressed, so did the characters while discussing their crimes. Happy Anderson portraying Jerry Brudos is still one of my favorite sequences not only because of the nature of the sequence but the scenes are kind of light-hearted and comical. If you have not watched this show, please do… I highly recommend this series for nay true crime buff out there. With a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, that kind of tells you something. It's still streaming on Netflix!

In the 1970s, New York's LGBTQ Community was gripped by fear; from a string of grisly unsolved killings known as the “Bag Murders,” to the shocking murder of film critic Addison Verrill, and whispers of a Hollywood curse surrounding The Exorcist. At the center of these intersecting stories stands Paul Bateson, a man described as handsome and charismatic, yet linked to both cinema lore and real-life violence. In one of New York City's darkest chapters, fact and fiction collided, spawning an evil that was very much rooted in reality. Erik Jensen is a multipyphenate who, along with his wife and creative partner Jessica Blank have been called “the foremost practitioners of documentary theater in the U.S.” Their genre-defining plays “The Exonerated,” “Aftermath,” “Coal Country,” and “The Line” were all critically acclaimed. As an actor, Jensen's credits include “The Walking Dead,” “Mindhunter,” “Mr. Robot,” “The Americans,” not to mention his praised portrayal of legendary NY Yankee Thurman Munson in “The Bronx is Burning.” On this episode he details his approach toward playing that beloved figure, and finding out that “almost the entire body of that character was an emotional word-gesture.” He talks about learning how much psychology is in people's words, his process of having multiple “wants” for a character so he can easily adapt to what he's given, he explains why it's a disservice to write or act for the audience, why he doesn't believe in monologues, how conducting interviews taught him how to listen and become a better actor, plus much more. Back To One is the in-depth, no-nonsense, actors-on-acting podcast from Filmmaker Magazine. In each episode, host Peter Rinaldi invites one working actor to do a deep dive into their unique process, psychology, and approach to the craft. Follow Back To One on Instagram

In this episode of "Normal World," Dave Landau, Angela, and 1/4 Black Garrett (out today, returning next episode) are joined by guest host Derek Richards. Yoshi Obayashi returns with firsthand insight from the Diddy trial, a visit with Mindhunter inspiration Dr. Ann Burgess, and a deep dive into the origins of FBI criminal profiling. They cover serial killers like Ed Kemper, BTK, and John Wayne Gacy, explore how fantasy drives violence, and question why institutions often protect predators over victims. The group unpacks why high-profile trials are performative, how media and power structures hide abuse, and what happens when justice systems silence victims in the name of sensitivity. They connect stories from the courtroom to failures in youth sports, the porn industry, and cultural repression around sex. Hello! And welcome to the Dana Gould Hour Podcast's annual Halloween spectacular. Or spooktacular! Ha ha! Get it? Not spectacular but – okay, you get it. What a show we have for you today. Mike McCarty and James Knight are brothers, even if they don't have the same last name. And they are the hosts of a new horror podcast called The Head, the Tail and the Whole Damn Thing. It's not your ordinary horror podcast as you will soon learn. I have known Mike forever. He is a special effects make-up artist who has worked on Blade Runner 2049, Mind Hunter, The Exorcist, The Orville, Stan Against Evil, if anyone remembers that show. James is an actor and educator but together, they share a love of all things creepy, and, most importantly, they are great guys and they're super funny. Mike McCarty and James Knight. Also, Rob Zabrecky, or just Zabrecky, if you are a fan of magic, is here. Rob is an actor, and an author and a musician, a Valley kid, who has since gone on to become a professional illusionist and a walking encyclopedia if all things magic. Rob runs the Houdini seance at The Magic Castle and is here today to talk about the history of Midnight Spook Shows! He's also performing one at the Mayan Theater this month here in Los Angeles, but we have him right here, right now, Rob Zabrecky. True Tales From Weirdsville takes us on a deep dive on Dracula, from Bram Stoker's book to Hamilton Dean's west end production in the 1920's all the way up to Gary Oldman's fright wig. We'll discuss which film version is closest to the book, and why, but also ask, how much does that actually matter?
