Republican and House leader Kevin McCarthy is a history maker, but not as he would have liked. The Californian and Donald Trump ally - has lost seven rounds of voting for the US House speakership, after several Republicans voted in opposition to the nomination. US Correspondent Richard Arnold says there hasn't been multiple votes for the position in a century. He says back in 1923 it took nine votes for an election, but 1855 is the benchmark when it took 133 votes and two months to choose a Speaker. Many Americans across the country had their holiday plans interrupted by flight cancellations. As various flyers found themselves stuck at the airport for days with their luggage nowhere to be found, airlines are being bombarded with questions about why this has happened on such a massive scale.  Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) and her family were also impacted by the delays. She joined the FOX News Rundown's Dave Anthony to discuss her experience and whether or not airlines like Southwest should be held accountable for the massive disruption.  Mace, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, discussed what factors aside from weather may have led to this meltdown, and what regulations the government should and should not enforce on the industry.  The South Carolina Congresswoman, who recently won her reelection campaign, also weighed in on the Beltway drama surrounding Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's bid to become the next Speaker, as well as the controversy surrounding Rep-Elect George Santos (R-NY), who has now admitted to lying about his past.  Due to time limitations, we could not include all of the conversations in our original segment. Former House Speaker Paul Ryan during an interview that aired on Sunday said Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California was "good for conservatives," arguing that there's no one "better suited" to lead the House GOP conference. McCarthy, who is poised to become speaker in January in a House with a razor-thin GOP majority, is working to round up the requisite votes needed to run the lower chamber, but has hit stumbling blocks with several Freedom Caucus members, including Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona and Matt Gaetz of Florida, vowing not to support him.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Abbott explained that by treating the flow of illegal migration as an "invasion," Texas would be able to tackle the problem with unprecedented vigor. "I invoked the Invasion Clauses of the US & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion," Abbott stated, adding that he's "using that constitutional authority, & other authorization & Executive Orders to keep our state & country safe." Abbott revealed that his government will deploy both the National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety to "repel," turn back and arrest those trying to enter the country illegally. In addition, he expressed intentions of constructing a border wall in multiple counties, deploying gun boats, and designating Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. Abbott noted that Texas does not intend to act alone in this endeavor, and will enter into agreements with other states and foreign nations to secure the border. Over 2 million migrant encounters were recorded in Fiscal Year 2022. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mccarthy-wins-gop-nomination-for-house-speaker McCarthy wins GOP nomination for House speaker Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy won the Republicans' designation for House speaker on Tuesday, but questions remain over his ability to lock up the spot on the floor in January. McCarthy, R-Calif., beat back a challenge by more conservative elements in the House Republican Conference represented by Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona. The final vote tally was 188-31. Most of Biggs’ support came from members of the hard line House Freedom Caucus. Biggs had previously chaired the group, which counts more than two dozen House Republicans among its membership, between 2019 and 2022. McCarthy, meanwhile, was able to assemble a large cross-section of the House GOP conference behind his candidacy. That included conservative hardliners like Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and centrists like Rep. Brian FitzPatrick of Pennsylvania. But the number of people who opposed him could cause trouble. "Losing 31 means he is in serious danger of not having the votes in January which would mean he’d need to drop out either that day or he could decide to before," said a senior aide to GOP leadership. "At that point, others would pounce." To become speaker in January, McCarthy will need at least 218 votes if the entire 435-member House is seated and voting. Currently, the potential Republican majority looks to be anywhere between 218 seats, the bare minimum needed to control the House, and 228 seats. The latter would constitute a sweep of all outstanding races, including some in which Democrats are favored, but still falls far short of the 60 seats McCarthy predicted could be possible under a GOP wave that never materialized. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/spencerbrown/2022/11/15/key-inflation-metrics-surges-again-n2615978 Key Inflation Metric Makes Biggest Jump Since June The October read on producer inflation showed some of the highest numbers in months on key indicators of price increases that have come as a result of the Biden administration and congressional Democrats' tax-and-spend agenda. Month-over-month, headline PPI inflation advanced 0.2 percent in October — the same as in September — and prices upstream from consumers increased a full eight percent in the 12 months ending in October. The core PPI number that excludes more volatile foods, energy, and trade services also saw prices increase 0.2 percent for an annual advance of 5.4 percent. Some of the more alarming data points in the latest Producer Price Index report include the index for final demand goods, which advanced 0.6 percent in October — the largest advance since June when that metric increased 2.2 percent. The Biden administration's war on safe, cheap, and reliable energy has also taken a toll on inflation, as seen again in October's PPI report in which most of the month-over-month increases "can be traced to a 2.7-percent jump in prices for final demand energy," the Bureau of Labor Statistics noted in its latest report. What's more, 60 percent of October's price increases for final demand goods are attributable to the index for gasoline which jumped 5.7 percent. At the same time, prices also increased for diesel fuel, fresh and dry vegetables, residential electric power, chicken eggs, and oil and gas field machinery. The only potential bright spot in October's PPI report is the 0.1 percent decrease seen in final demand services, its first downward movement since November of 2020. However, final demand services excluding trade, transportation, and warehousing increased by 0.2 percent. https://thepostmillennial.com/bus-carrying-illegal-aliens-to-arrive-in-philadelphia-this-week?utm_campaign=64487 Bus carrying illegal aliens to arrive in Philadelphia this week Philadelphia is preparing for the potential arrival of a busload of migrants coming from Del Rio, Texas, later this week. A spokesperson for the city told Fox News that information regarding the bus and its arrival are still not clear. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney told NBC Philadelphia that the city would welcome the migrants "with open arms," though he also remained unclear of the timeline. The city is confident that they have enough of a plan in place, including shelter, food, and clothing. There are also plans to try and expedite work permits for the migrants so that they may become self-sufficient sooner. Other self-proclaimed sanctuary cities that have received migrant buses in the last few months have reported being overwhelmed by the influx of illegal immigrants, so much so that a public emergency was declared. Texas Governor Greg Abbott first announced that he would be transporting busloads of migrants out of Texas back in April. He has since then sent out hundreds of migrant buses to sanctuary cities across the country. The 300th bus filled with migrants from Texas left for Chicago last week. The migrant buses have been dismissed by Democrats as simply a publicity stunt, but Abbott insists that the move is to relieve pressure from the overwhelmed border towns that take the brunt of Biden's failing immigration policies. Friends, One final point about the Select Committee on January 6 as it concludes this series of hearings. Its members and staff deserve our heartfelt thanks for a job (although not over) extraordinarily well done.So much has gone so wrong with so many aspects of our government and other institutions we rely on that I think it's important to recognize and salute this sort of excellence. And courage.Liz Cheney alone deserves a medal. Bennie Thompson handled the committee with grace and thoughtfulness. Adam Kinzinger did his job beautifully. Jamie Raskin was eloquent. Other members deserve kudos for their powerful presentations. The committee's format has remained disciplined and consistent since the committee aired its first televised hearing last month. Each hearing has dispensed with the usual awful aspects of congressional hearings -- bloated running times, grandstanding, endless speeches, badgering, cheap shots – while creating a coherent narrative across separate sessions. The hearings have constituted the most compelling televised hearings in history, Watergate included. You'll remember that Congressional Republicans initially stymied the formation of an independent commission to investigate January 6, then tried to appoint bad-faith wreckers to the House committee formed in lieu of the commission. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked those appointments, which prompted Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to declare that Republicans would boycott the panel altogether. Many pundits criticized Pelosi at the time, arguing that the committee's work would be perceived as purely partisan and therefore lack credibility. (“Those hoping that the committee might help us understand what happened on January 6,” CNN's Chris Cillizza wrote, “should give up on those hopes now.”) The fact that two Republican representatives, Cheney and Kinzinger, independently joined the committee, despite McCarthy's wishes, apparently didn't count as “bipartisanship” in the eyes of these critics. But Pelosi has been proven correct. America owes a deep debt of gratitude to the members of Congress and staff who have given us the most powerful and memorable depiction of the near-death of American democracy ever presented. Now it's up to the rest of us – including Merrick Garland and the Justice Department – to display the same degree of excellence and courage, and ensure that American democracy endures. The next big phase of our withdrawal from Afghanistan will be the resettlement of thousands of Afghans into communities across the country. Refugee organizations that deal with the State Department are ramping up their operations and have been told to expect some that have special immigrant visas and as many as 50,000 Afghans without visas. Depending on their status, it can complicate the process and changes the services that can be provided to them. While it will be a huge undertaking for these organizations, Americans are already stepping up and offering their help and support. Michelle Hackman, reporter at the WSJ, joins us for what's next for Afghan refugees. Next, President Biden officially marked the end of the war in Afghanistan on Tuesday and continued to stand by his decision saying he would not extend the forever war and disagreed with the criticism that evacuations could have started earlier. On the political front, the administration is trying to turn the page and focus on other priorities, but Republicans want to continue to hammer him for the botched withdrawal. Some Republicans are pressuring Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to press Biden harder on the issue and are refining their messages hoping to act quickly. Olivia Beavers, congressional reporter at Politico, joins us for more. Rachel Maddow paraded the GOP leader, Trump's criminality. Jen Psaki slams a disinforming reporter. Pelosi neuters McCarthy's attempt to blow up Jan 6th. select committee. A disgusted Jen Psaki destroys reporter on vaccine dis-info, in effect, put up your data or shut up. A reporter, apparently a Trump sycophant, asked Jen Psaki a silly question about the Biden administration appeasing Trump to get his folks vaccinated. Her answer was divine. Rachel Maddow exasperated that the Republican 2024 frontrunner is a criminal surrounded by criminals. She mapped out that Donald Trump, the criminal surrounded by criminals, is the Republican frontrunner for 2024. Dana Bash challenged Senator Rob Portman to do something substantive. She told him, as a Republican, he should tell the Right-Wing media to stop lying about vaccines. This may have gone past most of those who listened. But believe it or not, like microaggressions are cumulative, assigning blame and responsibility through interviews can make an entire minute of word salad and spinning garbage moot. That is what happened with Dana Bash and Senator Rob Portman (R-OH). Nancy Pelosi neutered Trump's sycophant, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. She cut two of his radical lying members from the committee and immediately received support from Liz Cheney (R-WY). --- If you like what we do please do the following! Liz Cheney and the Bush family are attacking Trump supporters because they have no clue of how serious the threat is. The issue with Liz Cheney is not about Liz Cheney, but its illustrative of a larger problem. A RINO problem that predates Trump and has been antagonistic toward Constitutional conservatives for decades. Liz Cheney should stand up for Liberty instead of claiming some false mantle of never-Trump leadership. Later, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy calls in with his reaction to Liz Cheney's ouster from GOP leadership. McCarthy explained that out of all America's problems Liz Cheney was focused on Trump, not on Biden's weakness on China, the impending inflation, or our out-of-control border. McCarthy quipped that even Sen. Bernie Sanders is more conservative than Joe Biden. Then, educational materials are being used to indoctrinate students under the dangerous guise of critical race theory. These curricula pose questions like "is everyone equal?" Parents are speaking up and one mom in Virginia gave an eloquent rebuke of Critical Race Theory to her school board. Afterward, Former Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer joins the show from Israel to describe what the recent terrorist rocket attacks were like. Dermer added that a heavy price must be exacted on Hamas to restore deterrence not just restoring security. This was done by eliminating several Hamas commanders. Hamas commits war crimes in these attacks by targeting Israeli civilians and launching these rockets from Hamas bunkers hidden next to schools and hospitals where they use civilian women and children as human shields. Hamas does this with the hope that Israel will be portrayed as the aggressors by propagandists in the media. Dermer added that much of Hamas' support comes from Iran and any deal that leads to nuclear Iran destabilize the entire Middle East region.

It's MondayJanuary 18th and we're here to bring you a closer look at our top stories, events and more that matter to us here in Western Colorado.  Today - Western Slope leaders are calling on Congress to investigate newly sworn-in Lauren Boebert. Today's episode is brought to you by Elevate Internet. Whether it's for your home or your business they offer the best speeds at the best price. Right now, if you refer a friend you can get $25 off! Give them a call for more information at 844-386-8744 or visit them at elevateinternet.com Before we begin, congratulations to Jordan Jennings of Montrose! Jennings will play golf for Colorado State University beginning next season in Fort Collins. He committed to the Rams' nationally ranked, Division one golf program last year and was scheduled to have had a celebratory signing ceremony at Montrose High School. Then it was pushed to a reception at The Bridges. Finally after three quarantines and COVID diagnosis, all the public hoorah faded. Such is life in the pandemic. Yet in many ways, it's been a terrific senior year for Jennings. He won the individual state medalist honors at the 4A championship in October. The Colorado High School Activities Association named him Player of the Year. And he led the MHS golf team to 10 victories.  More than five dozen officials from local governments in the 3rd Congressional District are calling on House leadership to investigate newly sworn-in Lauren Boebert. Boebert has pushed back strongly against allegations that she live-tweeted the location of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during the January 6 siege on the Capitol.  Boebert was also among lawmakers who objected to the certification for Biden. In their January 12th letter, 68 leaders from communities allege Boebert associated with the right wing groups that supported the insurrection of the Capitol Building. The letter noted that they had heard from constituents that there is deep concern about her actions leading up to and during the protests that turned into a violent and deadly mob. The letter, addressed to Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, asks for a thorough investigation and “appropriate disciplinary actions.” No official from Montrose or Montrose County signed the letter. Boebert also has attracted attention for wanting to carry a gun beyond U.S. Capitol grounds and also in chambers.  Boebert now says that her office has been flooded with death threats and hundreds of vile phone calls and emails. To learn more about this story, visit us at montrosepress.com. Before we go, we'd like to take a moment to highlight  The Governor's Residence Preservation Fund. They just launched a new, interactive website at colorado-leaders.com which focuses on State of Colorado history.
