This week we're talking Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo by Scott Snyder and Nick DragottaBut first, who is an Absolute Baby? What does Cody think about the new HBO series Task? Are the boys divided on this comic? Was it too edgelord? What did we think of the character designs for this universe? How does this compare to the other Absolute books? Is this Scott Snyder's All-Star Batman & Robin? Would this Gotham fit in the Tokyo Drift universe? Do we care about Red Hood? Is Black Mask more formidable in this universe? Does Batman punt a kid? Were we big fans of the art in this comic? How was Jake's LA Comic Con experience? Did Tom King take a copy of Superguy? Why the fuck does AI Stan Lee exist? Will Anthony and Cody be at NYCC?Plus the pre-launch page for Superguy issue #2 is out now! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mrtonynacho/superguy-2-my-date-with-the-presidents-daughter?ref=creator_tabNew episodes every THURSDAYFollow us on social media! In our latest DC spolight, Jace and Rocky run through a busy October 1 slate while previewing NYCC plans for panel live-tweets and interviews if Jace can make it to the show plus industry buzz from Vertigo and big Marvel/DC crossover whispers. The kick things off by breaking down the current Batman era's tone and art, while debating Gotham's law-and-order vibe as it compares to real-world events currently. Gotham Academy: First Year is Jace's first exposure to the property and Ricky get a “Wednesday-esque” feel from it, the Justice League: Omega Act Special is a perfect jumping on point into the next big event, DC K.O. and sums up everything happpening in DC over that last year. Poison Ivy's run earns kudos for layered, flawed character work. Cassandra Cain's globe-trotting martial-arts arc sparks a deep dive on DC's fight-lore and works for Rocky while Jace is still underwhelmed, while Absolute Green Lantern's dense worldbuilding is best enjoyed as fresh space opera rather than familiar Lantern canon. A slick heist setup in Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Justice League shines for character moments, while Absolute Superman spotlights Kal's evolving bond with Sol, his AI guardian and and also Kal's Smallville ties, Adventures of Superman: Book of El builds future-era intrigue, the Zatanna Panic Halloween anthology offers bite-size spooky detours to celebrate Halloween, and JSA reaches a long-awaited finale. As always Jace gives a rundown of collected editions out this week also and the guys wrap things up with their weekly rankings of all the DC titles they've read.

While the industry front has been pretty slow on things and happenings, the movie and television front has been anything but - it's been preparing for the fall season and beyond, and we've got plenty of excitement for the goods to come, as well as a bit of a theory that the "hot" seasons are shifting to winter and summer as opposed to the fall. We've got talk about all of that to come, as well as a brief rundown of the Aniplex Online Fest stream, all after a rather brief talk about the good and bad of the biggest movie in the country right now, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle - short version, it's a good movie that can't seem to get in its own way with its production. What visual tone were you aiming for with Everything Dead & Dying? The book has been described as The Last of Us meets Yellowstone. How did you strike a balance between horror, western, and emotional drama without tipping too far into genre cliché?How did you both approach the undead in this world? Are they metaphors, monsters, or something else entirely? The series clearly explores themes of love, loss, and survival. Bonus points if you argue over the dishes.
