Episode #440 We return to Schwarzenegger Land with this very particular moment in US-USSR relations known as Red Heat (1988). It's also a return to Walter Hill though he doesn't show off nearly as much. We also talk Thief, Wallace and Gromit, Sweetheart, The Hidden Fortress, Never Cry Wolf and Basquiat.
Send us a textWe are going through all the movies we watched to find the best of the best that we have reviewed. We're also looking for the worst of the worst. The best over-the-top actor. The best one-liners or dialogue, whichever comes first. We reviewed a lot of movies we remembered liking this year. Some were just as good and some didn't even come close.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

In the 1980s a handful of actors ruled the Action Genre. And one of the biggest, if not the biggest of that decade was the star of this movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Red Heat is a buddy cop movie with one major twist to the formula. While the unpredictable crazy Big City Cop is pretty standard to the formula, the other buddy in this movie is from Russia. Now that's “Zabavnyy”. James Belushi co-stars, so humor with a hint of "unpredictability" that is totally predictable, is probably guaranteed. Add some over-the-top action, a handful of one-liners galore, and at least a dozen reasons Arnold's character ends up in situations that cause him to become shirtless, and presto, we got an 80s action flick we couldn't be more excited to watch. So let's go, Comrades!Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

Welcome back to the resurrection of the podcast that started it all—welcome to "Second Chance Schwartzy" with the indomitable brothers Aleks and Milenko! This time, they're revisiting the golden era of Arnold Schwarzenegger's filmography, kicking off with a deep dive into the 1988 buddy cop comedy, "Red Heat."Picture this: Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ivan Danko, a Soviet Union cop sent on a special assignment to the chaos of Chicago, USA. His partner in this odd couple adventure? The hilarious Jim Belushi as Art Ridzik. It's a fish-out-of-water story with a touch of the buddy cop dynamic that defined the era. While "Red Heat" might seem like a goofy comedy at first glance, the brothers reveal its hidden layers. The film cleverly explores the cultural clash between Danko's Soviet background and Ridzik's Chicago upbringing, emphasizing the surprising similarities between the two. Set against the backdrop of the dwindling Cold War tensions and the impending dismantling of the Soviet Union, the movie captures a unique moment in history. But that's not all—the plot thickens with Ed O'Ross playing Viktor Rosta, the notorious USSR drug pusher and big bad guy. The narrative weaves a subplot involving the Cleanheads, a Black liberation movement, drawing intriguing parallels between Black liberation in America and socialist principles in the USSR. It's a dense and captivating plot that unfolds against the backdrop of East meeting West."Red Heat" is a classic tale with an ensemble cast that's nothing short of iconic—Gina Gershon, Laurence Fishburne, Peter Boyle, and more. The movie surprises with its depth and intriguing layers, making it a classic worth revisiting. So, join the brothers as they unravel the intricacies of this Schwarzenegger gem in "Second Chance Schwartzy." It's a blast from the past that promises to be a great and surprising ride!

Is this an Easter Movie? Do either of these movies make sense? MFK Jim Belushi, Joe Piscopo or the corpse of John Belushi? How was Mike's wife's birthday ruined? Who killed Gina Gershon? There was a time when the buddy comedy could be found in many theaters. You couldn't throw a cheap quarter pounder without hitting a movie poster where some cop was teamed up with some other unorthodox character. We used to be a real country, darn it. We take a visit back to those halcyon days where we knew who was the bad guys(it was the French). We have Red Heat(1988). It's a team up between a Chicago cop and a Soviet Cop. Jim Belushi plays the Chicago man and Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the Soviet. And yes, his unmistakable Austrian accent shines through the Russian he learned for the role. Originally Recorded on March 11th, 12th, and 25th, 2023 Greetings and salutations, fans! That Horror Show Podcast presents Part Deux of our Ray Dennis Steckler retrospective! Tune in as hosts Timothy Kazda and Chris Koenig tackles Steckler's next productions, which feature enough behind the camera professionalism to capture the personal "home movie" horror film aesthetic. First up, Tim and Chris review "The Lemon Grove Kids Meet the Monsters" (1967-1969), a three-part short film series mash-up in which Steckler imitates the 'Bowery Boys' with his friends and family in 'The Lemon Grove Kids', 'The Lemon Grove Kids Meet the Green Grasshopper and the Vampire Lady from Outer Space' (phew...what a title!) and 'The Lemon Grove Kids...Go Hollywood!' And then, once when the 1970s began everything would change for Ray with his production of "The Chooper" (1971, aka "Blood Shack"), which shows you need a lot more than just the hot Nevada desert locale and a decrepit house complete with a soiled mattress to make a horror movie! But wait, that's not all: Chris goes solo to review a couple of Steckler's later triple-X rated horror titles (so Tim doesn't have to!) of the likes such as "The Mad Love Life of a Hot Vampire", "Count Al-Kum" (oh, how witty, Ray!), "The Sexorcist Devil" and "Red Heat" (and yes, these reviews of Steckler's hardcore titles are NSFW, kids!). And we also have yet another Kids Corner review with Nate in which he talks about "M3GAN" (2022) with special guest Gabi.

This week, Swanson, Kiorein and Stairmaster watch the Schwarzenegger/Belushi buddy cop comedy Red Heat and marvel at Arnie's impressive Russian accent.
