Numbers Don't Lie: What My Shocking Blog Stats Revealed

Play Episode Listen Later May 26, 2025 18:46

If you've been feeling discouraged about your blog traffic lately, you're not alone. In this episode of Creatives on Fire, I'm pulling back the curtain on what's really happening with blog traffic in 2025—and giving you five smart strategies to take back control. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode197 How to Get More Blog Traffic I was originally going to cover a different topic this week, but after hearing so many creators talk about low traffic, broken platforms, and general burnout, I had to hit pause and share what I've personally been working through—and how I'm turning it around. Let's talk about what matters, what doesn't, and what you can actually do to get your blog traffic moving again. First: Don't Fall for the Comparison Game It's easy to feel lost when all the voices around you are saying different things. Google is broken, Pinterest is dead, Facebook is hiding links—it's enough to make any blogger feel like giving up. But the truth is, numbers don't lie. So that's where I went—to my Google Analytics. When I compared my year-to-date stats from 2024 to 2025, here's what I found: Sessions were down 20% Pageviews were down a shocking 50% Ouch. That was a wake-up call. But it also gave me clarity. Sessions are mostly out of my control. Pageviews? That's on me. Sessions vs. Pageviews: What's the Difference? If you're not familiar with these terms: Sessions = Visitors arriving at your site (they showed up to the dance) Pageviews = The number of pages they visited (how many people they danced with) So while platforms control a lot of traffic volume (sessions), you control what happens once people land on your site. That's where the pageviews come in—and that's where you can make a huge impact. How to Improve Your Blog's Page Speed Before diving into pageview tactics, I looked at what I could do to improve page speed, which still plays a huge role in search and user experience. Here's what I did: Audited my plugins to remove outdated or unnecessary tools Replaced and optimized my image compression plugin (I now use ShortPixel, which found 1,200 images that needed more compression) Even small improvements to your blog's speed can help platforms like Google and Pinterest want to send more traffic your way. 5 Smart Strategies to Increase Blog Pageviews Once I optimized the tech side, I moved on to what I could do to increase pageviews—the number that is in our control. These five strategies are what I'm actively working on now. 1. Restructure Your Blog for Simpler Navigation When readers land on your homepage or a post, can they immediately tell what you're about and where to go next? Clear navigation, especially with buttons that lead to categories (like “See All Crafts” or “Browse Recipes”), is key. 2. Connect Your Orphan Posts Go find the blog posts that aren't linked to anything else—SEO tools like Ahrefs can help. Either delete them if they don't align with your brand, or link them meaningfully into related content to keep readers clicking. 3. Add Prompts to Explore More Think: “See all fall posts” or “Get more lemon dessert ideas.” Use bold call-to-action buttons early in your post to send them to your category or roundup pages. The more paths they can follow, the more pageviews you'll get. 4. Include a ‘Start Here' Block Toward the top of your post, include a reusable block that says “New here? Start here.” Link it to a curated welcome page with your top categories, opt-ins, and reader favorites. Help new visitors instantly know how to explore. 5. Introduce a Weekly or Ongoing Series Give readers a reason to keep coming back. It could be: A 5-week project like “5 Weeks to a Porch Makeover” A two-part post (before & after) A weekly roundup of your own posts, styled for Pinterest or seasonal trends You could even turn your weekly content into a newsletter hook: “Get this week's top DIYs straight to your inbox!” The Bottom Line: Don't Panic—Make a Plan If traffic is down, take a deep breath. Stop listening to the noise and go check your own analytics. Is it sessions? Pageviews? Once you know, you can act. And that's powerful. Because blogging isn't dead—but it is evolving. And it's our job to evolve with it. Give your blog a tune-up. Guide your readers more clearly. And most importantly, keep showing up consistently. Until next time, stay creative. The 5 hr Work Week: Blogger Edition

Play Episode Listen Later May 19, 2025 12:47

Have you ever felt like you don't have enough time to blog consistently? What if I told you that you could successfully run your blog in just five hours a week? https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode196 In this week's episode of Creatives on Fire, we're diving into how to work smarter—not harder—with a blogger's take on the five hour work week. Inspired by Tim Ferriss's The 4-Hour Workweek, this strategy is all about simplifying your workflow, focusing on what moves the needle, and creating consistent momentum. Let's break down how you can make blogging fit into your schedule—one hour a day. Can Blogging in Five Hours a Week Actually Work? Yes, my friend, it absolutely can. The key to making this work is consistency. You don't need endless hours or a huge audience to start building a profitable blog—you need a plan, a routine, and the discipline to stick to it. Step One: Make a Plan The first step is to map out what each hour of your blogging week will look like. Break the work into five main buckets and assign one task to each weekday. Monday: Draft Your Post Spend your hour outlining and drafting your blog post inside WordPress. This includes doing keyword research and writing your SEO title and headers. Use AI to speed things up if you need to. Tuesday: Create the Content Use this hour to bring your content to life. Take step-by-step photos, shoot a video, bake the recipe, or go live with a related tutorial. This is your creation day. Wednesday: Assemble and Schedule the Post Now that you've drafted and created, pull everything together. Upload your images, polish your post, and schedule it to publish next week—so you're always ahead. Thursday: Schedule the Promotions Use this hour to create your Pinterest pins, schedule your social media posts, and write the email that will promote your post. Everything should be prepped for the following week. Friday: Record and Schedule Video Content Optional—but powerful. Use this time to record and schedule your reels, short-form videos, or YouTube content related to your blog post. Step Two: Make It Predictable The real secret? Make your blogging time non-negotiable. Pick a time each day that works best for your life (early mornings are gold!) and show up like it's an appointment you can't miss. Tips for staying consistent: Block your hour on your calendar Use a “Blogging” tab group to reduce distractions Work ahead, not behind Create muscle memory—same routine, same time every day Step Three: Make It a Priority You already know blogging can generate consistent income—ads, affiliate commissions, product sales, and email growth all stem from regular publishing. So ask yourself: If I knew this would work, would I make it a priority? Once you've made the decision to treat your blog like a business, it becomes easier to commit to the five hour framework. Over time, your one hour a day builds lasting success, and that boring, consistent effort becomes your biggest advantage. What If You Want to Blog More Than Once a Week? If you're posting multiple times a week, just double the time. Two blog posts = two hours a day. But here's the beauty of batching—your efficiency will skyrocket. Once you get in the flow, you'll find you can prep several posts at once in even less time. As with anything in business: what's hard at first becomes easier with repetition. Final Thoughts: Boring Work Becomes Brilliant Success Building a successful blog isn't about flashy hacks—it's about consistent action done well over time. With the Five Hour Work Week, you can simplify your process, eliminate decision fatigue, and create sustainable income without burnout. Just remember: Make the plan Make it predictable Make it a priority Because boring work done consistently leads to extraordinary results. Let me know—are you in for the five hour work week? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments over on the blog. Until next time, stay creative. 13 Smart Ways to Repurpose Your Best Blog Posts

Play Episode Listen Later May 12, 2025 14:08

This week's episode of Creatives on Fire is a rapid-fire breakdown of how to get more eyeballs on your top-performing blog posts without creating new content from scratch. These ideas will help you stretch the life of your posts, build momentum, and ultimately increase your traffic, engagement, and income. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode195 You've already done the hard work. Now let's make that blog post work even harder for you. Why You Should Be Repurposing Blog Content If a post is performing well, don't let it sit idle. Instead of constantly creating something new, build systems around redistributing your best content to give it a longer shelf life. Whether it's via social, email, video, or products—there are countless ways to extend the value of your top content. Here are 13 creative ways to do exactly that: 1. Pull a Quote and Share It as Text on Social Media Find a powerful line or tip from your blog post and share it as plain text on a colorful background. This works great on Facebook, Instagram, and even in stories. Add the blog link in the first comment or the caption to drive traffic. 2. Turn Blog Graphics into a Social Carousel or Reel Take 5–10 graphics or photos from the blog post and create a quick-scroll carousel or a short video reel. This is perfect for Instagram or Facebook and helps breathe new life into your visuals. Bonus tip: Use a tool like Post Planner (linked below in the episode) to put your graphics on autopilot. 3. Create Multiple Pinterest Pins Don't stop at one pin. Create 5–10 different versions with varied images and headlines. Use different boards—including a board dedicated to that one blog post if it performs exceptionally well. 4. Create a Long-Form Tutorial Video If the post is a how-to or recipe, turn it into a YouTube video or a longer Facebook/Instagram tutorial. Walk your audience through the steps while linking to the original post for the full details. 5. Share It in Stories as a Talking Point Pop into your Instagram or Facebook stories and talk about the post. No editing required. Just share what it's about and why it's worth their time. Add a link sticker to send people directly to the post. 6. Share It on Syndicated Sites Find niche-specific platforms like Hometalk, Foodgawker, or CraftGawker (depending on your niche) and submit your content. Always tag relevant brands or creators—they may reshare and expand your reach even further. 7. Turn It into a Digital Product or Ebook Copy and paste your post into ChatGPT or Canva Docs and ask it to format it as an ebook. Sell it as a low-ticket product or bundle it with similar content in your shop. 8. Make It a Lead Magnet Use your most popular post as an opt-in offer. For example: “Want to learn how to make a perfect messy bow? Grab the tutorial here!” Collect emails and deliver the blog post as the freebie. 9. Repurpose It for Your Email List Paste the first paragraph or a juicy snippet into your weekly newsletter with a link to the full post. You can even pull content from old posts this time last year—done is better than perfect! 10. Link It to Other Blog Posts Add links to this top-performing post at the bottom of other related content. This internal linking helps readers (and Google) stay on your site longer and see your most valuable content. 11. Use It in a Roundup Post Create a themed roundup that includes the top blog post. If your lemon bundt cake is going viral, write a “Best Lemon Desserts” roundup and include that post (plus two to three more). Internal linking and SEO win-win. 12. Record It as Audio or Podcast Content Add an audio version of the post to your blog (tools like Play.ht or ConvertKit's new audio block work well), or reference it on your podcast. You can even read it word-for-word as an episode. 13. Mention It in Your Live Video or Stories (Bonus Tip!) Talk about the post while you're live or in your weekly stories. Use keyword triggers and automated tools to send the link when viewers comment. This is great for engagement and email list growth. Make Repurposing a Habit, Not a One-Off Choose 3–5 of these ideas to start with and build a routine. Repurposing doesn't have to be overwhelming—just intentional. Add these steps to your content checklist and watch your reach and results grow. Got another creative way to repurpose a post? Predictable Profits with Stu McLaren

In this week's episode of Creatives on Fire, I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Stu McLaren—yes, that Stu McLaren! If you've ever considered adding a membership model to your creative business (or are wondering what memberships even are), this episode is your invitation to stop waiting and start creating recurring revenue today. Stu has been helping entrepreneurs build thriving membership businesses for over 17 years. His guidance helped shape the memberships of creators, bloggers, and even big brands. In this conversation, he shares the why, the how, and the what now for anyone ready to build a sustainable business online. Why Memberships Make So Much Sense If you're already paying for Netflix, Amazon Prime, or a subscription box, you're part of the membership economy. So why not create your own recurring revenue stream? Stu shared that memberships are more stable, predictable, and less stressful than relying solely on one-time sales. With algorithm changes, platform instability, and constant pivots in the online world, a membership can bring the peace and sustainability every entrepreneur craves. “Any creator or business owner can have a membership—and the ones who do are creating freedom and stability.” —Stu McLaren The 4 Types of Memberships Stu broke down the four major types of memberships—and you'll probably see yourself in one (or more) of them: Product-Based Memberships Recurring delivery of physical or digital products. Think: printables of the month, subscription boxes, or digital design bundles. Service-Based Memberships Perfect for coaches, massage therapists, stylists, or even VA services. Provide consistent support and recurring client care. Knowledge-Based Memberships Teach a skill, solve an ongoing problem, or save your members time through tools, tutorials, or lesson plans. Community-Based Memberships Foster connection through shared experiences or passions. Think mastermind groups or niche hobby clubs. How to Start: The Founding Member Launch This part is pure gold. Stu outlines a simple, no-tech-needed way to validate your idea and get paid before you build anything. It's called a founding member launch, and it involves these 5 steps: Explain the idea and where it came from Cast the vision for what this could become Invite people to join as founding members Provide a clear call to action Follow up with a payment link That's it. No sales page, no tech hurdles—just a message that allows people to say “I'm in.” And yes, you could literally do this by the end of the day. The Secret to a Thriving Membership in 2025 What makes a membership last? According to Stu, it's all about helping members experience consistent progress. The more progress your members make, the happier they are—and the longer they stay. Keep It Simple Don't overwhelm members with content. Overwhelm is the #1 reason people cancel. Help them take action, not consume endlessly. Use a Success Path Break the transformation into clear, achievable stages. Help members know what to focus on based on where they are in the journey. Leverage AI to Create Margin Let tools handle repetitive tasks so you can focus on real connection. People stay for the results—but also the relationships. Predictable Profits: Stu's New Book Stu's brand-new book Predictable Profits distills 17 years of membership-building wisdom into an actionable, approachable read. He even designed it to be bingeable with bite-sized chapters and lots of visuals (his words: “Yes, I love pictures!”). You can grab a free copy (just pay shipping) at:

This week on the podcast, I'm excited to introduce you to my sweet friend, Char Huskins! Char has been in the online world for 28 years, and her love for helping women share their stories through blogging shines so brightly. We dive deep into why blogging still matters, how to set your blog up for success, and what to do if you're overwhelmed trying to piece it all together yourself. If you've ever wondered whether blogging is worth it—or if you're dreaming of launching (or revamping) your own site—this episode is for you. Char's Journey: From Early Website Design to Helping Women Share Their Stories Char first entered the website world long before blogging was even a thing. As blogging evolved, she fell in love with WordPress and the idea of helping women find their voice online. Today, she specializes in building beautiful, customized websites and blogs that allow creatives to not just show up online, but shine. She believes your blog isn't just a website—it's a legacy that can turn into a book, a brand, or a full-blown business. What Char Offers: Full-Service Blog Setup and Ongoing Management Char helps women who want to blog (or who already started and got stuck) with two main services: Custom Website + Blog Builds Char creates a fully customized WordPress website that includes: Home, About, Contact, and other core pages Blog setup ready for ongoing posting Branding and logo assistance if needed Full collaboration on the look, feel, and function you want Typical timeline? About one month from start to finish, depending on how much content you have ready. "I specialize in taking over where people feel stuck—and creating a full, beautiful site they're proud of." Blog Management Services If blogging feels overwhelming, Char also offers blog management: Ghostwriting blog posts (4, 8, or 12 per month) Pinterest graphic creation Social media graphics that match your posts Optional email marketing setup help (like Flodesk or Mailchimp) You can fully outsource your blog, get a few posts a month, or just get help getting started until you find your own rhythm. Why DIY Websites Aren't Always the Best Option While DIY website builders are tempting, Char shared why having a real expert matters. With her approach, you're not just buying a “template”—you're building a foundation for your business the right way, without the constant headache of fixing mistakes later. Working with Char means: Your site is built the right way from the start It's tailored to your goals, your brand, and your audience You'll save time, frustration, and ultimately, money And her pricing is shockingly affordable for the level of customization and support you get. Is Blogging Still Worth It? Absolutely! Char and I both agreed: blogging looks different than it used to, but it's still powerful. Today, blogging is more about: Pairing your blog with your email list to drive traffic Using social media to bring people to your own platform Creating evergreen content that lives for years "Blogging is still alive and well—you just have to pivot a little and focus on connection." Char also pointed out that building an email list alongside your blog is critical today, since you own your email list (but you don't own your social media following). The Maker's Guide to Multiplying with Danielle Stringer

This week on the podcast, I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming back my dear friend Danielle Stringer, the talented creator behind Imperfect Dust. Danielle is more than a maker—she's a business mentor, mastermind host, and now an author. Her new book, The Maker's Guide to Multiplying, is all about helping creatives scale their skills, their reach, and their income. If you've ever felt stuck trying to figure out your next step, or you're not sure how to grow beyond one-on-one sales, you're going to love this conversation. From One Sign at a Time to Scaling with Systems Danielle started out hand-lettering signs and selling them one by one. Eventually, she realized that model wasn't sustainable, and it certainly wasn't scalable. Her turning point? Teaching others how to do what she was doing. By moving from one-to-one to one-to-many, Danielle opened up new revenue streams through in-person workshops, online classes, and a digital file subscription called Digital Dust. She shared that teaching what she knew actually multiplied her reach—and her income. “When I finally yielded and started teaching what I know, that's when things truly started to multiply.” Mindset, Marketing, and Multiplication What makes Danielle's approach unique is her commitment to starting with mindset. Right from page one, she's walking readers through how consistency builds trust and how trusting God's abundance allows us to share freely without fear of scarcity. She talks about: Multiplying your reach by connecting with your audience authentically Multiplying your impact by showing up consistently Multiplying your time and freedom by focusing on the one thing that moves the needle Multiplying your knowledge by learning from others and building your network “It's a choice to trust that God's blessings are not limited and neither are His plans for you.” Listening and Scaling Based on Customer Feedback Danielle's growth didn't come from guessing—it came from listening. She regularly asks her audience what they need and uses their answers to craft solutions. Whether it was through live videos, interactive posts, or simply tuning into DMs and comments, she took notes and turned them into action. That kind of responsiveness led her to a recurring revenue model that now supports her business and gives her back more time. Paid Ads, Subscription Growth, and Sustainable Scaling Danielle also shared how running her first paid ad campaign catapulted her monthly subscribers from 350 to over 1,200. She created a low-barrier entry point with a Scripture Lettering Workshop, delivered value, and then invited participants into her full membership. By offering a tangible transformation up front, she created trust and increased conversions—without feeling salesy. From Maker to CEO This isn't just a how-to book. It's a complete mindset shift. Danielle talks about stepping out of the maker mentality and stepping into the CEO role. She emphasizes focusing on the one thing that moves your business forward, delegating where you can, and trusting that you don't have to do everything alone. “You don't have to go be a missionary or be what other people consider radical. You can live an ordinary life to the glory of God and have amazing impact.” The Book + The Challenge Danielle's book, The Maker's Guide to Multiplying, is available now and packed with practical tools and faith-based encouragement to help you grow what you've already built. And if you want to take things one step further, she's hosting a live three-day challenge called Scale Your Skill starting May 6. You'll get hands-on training via Zoom and be surrounded by other makers ready to multiply their impact. If you're feeling unsure, stuck, or wondering whether you're really doing what you're meant to do, this episode is for you. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode190 This week on the Creatives on Fire Podcast, I'm getting honest about something that's been weighing on me: wondering if what I've been building is still right for me. Maybe you've asked yourself the same question. Between Google traffic dips, social media changes, and shifting industry trends, it's easy to doubt. But before you give up, take a breath. Slow down. Reflect. Let's walk through 7 powerful clues to help you discover whether you're still operating in your sweet spot — that magical place where purpose, passion, and potential meet. 7 Clues You're in Your Sweet Spot It captures your imagination and inspires you daily. You think about it when you wake up and fall asleep with ideas swirling. But don't expect instant fireworks — sometimes your sweet spot needs a trial run (think: 90-day mattress guarantee!). Even when it's hard, you never want to give up. Challenges don't stop you. They fuel you. If you keep coming back to it despite setbacks, you're likely doing what you're meant to do. You're more excited about it than anyone else. When others lose interest or walk away, you're still here — energized, hopeful, and maybe even a little Pollyanna about the future. That's a sign. It consumes your thinking — in a good way. You find yourself mentally working through ideas throughout your day because you want to. It's not draining, it's life-giving. It shapes your identity. Whether you realize it or not, people know you for what you do. It defines how others see you — and often, how you see yourself. It feels easier for you than it does for others. What others find overwhelming, you find exciting. It doesn't mean it's easy, but it means you're equipped. It's where your purpose, passion, and potential intersect. When all three align, that is your sweet spot. And if you're not sure what your passion is, I've linked a free resource here to help you find it. Final Thoughts If you're feeling frozen — unsure if you should keep going — don't quit. Slow down, reflect, and remember why you started. I personally hit a wall and stopped posting. But I found my way back by revisiting my "why": Time freedom Limitless income opportunity Creative expression They're all still possible — even if the landscape looks different. The takeaway? You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to take the next right step. Keep going. Keep testing. Don't give up too soon. In this episode of Creatives on Fire, I welcome back one of my favorite returning guests and all-around business genius, KariAnne Wood of Thistlewood Farms. If you're looking for practical, proven strategies to generate income online, this conversation is one you'll want to bookmark. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode188 From blogging and affiliate marketing to YouTube and beyond, KariAnne pulls back the curtain on her 28 revenue streams and shares what's working right now—and how you can get started too. KariAnne's Top 3 Money-Making Strategies That Are Working Right Now When we sat down to reflect on what's driving real results in her business in 2024, KariAnne revealed that three things are bringing in the biggest income: Affiliate Marketing Blogging YouTube Not only are these strategies scalable, but they're platforms where she's found consistent and long-term income opportunities. KariAnne emphasized how blogging and YouTube allow you to “triple dip” with brand sponsorships, ad income, and affiliate links—all from one piece of content. “That ability to take one piece of content and make it last for a long time and make more money from it… is probably one of my favorite ways to make money right now.” —KariAnne Wood The Importance of Growing Your Audience First To monetize effectively, KariAnne stresses the importance of building your audience. Whether it's through blog posts, email, or social media, consistency and authenticity are key. One of her top affiliate tips? Use platforms like ShopMy, Amazon, and LTK strategically—by assigning each a role in your content strategy. Use Amazon for daily lifestyle items Use LTK for home tours and fashion Use ShopMy for curated product features and specific brand partnerships (like Target or Anthropologie) And her biggest advice for beginners: start small and stay consistent. Share just one product per day on each platform. That daily rhythm adds up quickly and helps establish you as a trustworthy source for recommendations. Content Creation Tips from a Pro Blogger KariAnne posts five times a week on her blog using this simple format: Decorating post Story/encouragement post Affiliate product roundup Simple tip or how-to Weekly wrap-up (called Thistlekeeping) For those who can't commit to five blog posts a week, she recommends doing one of each monthly to maintain a balance of inspiration, education, and monetization. KariAnne also offered a brilliant idea for content creation: head to your favorite store, fill your cart with beautiful items, and film yourself pulling each one out in-store to feature on a reel. It's budget-friendly content that performs well and drives affiliate income. Why YouTube Deserves Your Attention While still growing her YouTube channel, KariAnne is investing time and energy into YouTube Shorts. By posting two Shorts per day, she's been able to steadily increase her subscribers and get closer to unlocking more monetization features. Shorts are helping her grow without the pressure of long-form video editing—and she recommends it as a low-barrier entry point for bloggers who want to expand their reach. How to Sell in Instagram Stories with Sara McDaniel

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 17, 2025 28:11

If you're looking to boost your income using Instagram Stories, this episode is for you! Today's episode is a returning favorite—Sara McDaniel from Simply Southern Cottage! Sara is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to Instagram Stories, and today, she's giving us her best tips on how to use Stories effectively, grow your audience, and increase your income. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode187 The Power of Instagram Stories Instagram Stories are one of the best ways to connect with your audience, build trust, and drive sales. But is there a secret formula for success? According to Sara, it comes down to showing up consistently, being real, and engaging with your followers. She's been using Instagram for over seven years, and her approach is simple yet effective. Let's break it down. How Sara Uses Instagram Stories to Grow Her Brand Sara's strategy is based on authenticity and consistency. Here's how she structures her daily Stories: She Starts the Day with a Greeting: Every morning, Sarah sets expectations for her audience by sharing what's coming up that day. This helps keep people engaged and eager to follow along. She Shares Real-Time, Everyday Moments: Her content isn't staged—it's real-life storytelling that makes her audience feel like they're right there with her. Whether it's pulling a shopping cart out of a creek or overseeing a new real estate project, Sarah takes followers behind the scenes. She Mixes in Affiliate and Promotional Content Organically: About 20% of her content is focused on affiliate links, brand partnerships, or promotions. She sprinkles in these offers between her everyday updates to keep the balance natural and engaging. She Uses a Simple Posting Schedule: 7:30 AM - Posts a reel, carousel, or static post. 9:00-10:00 AM - Starts Stories for the day. Throughout the Day - Updates with real-time events, behind-the-scenes content, and occasional promotions. 6:00 PM - Wraps up the day's content. How to Make Your Instagram Stories More Engaging One of Sara's top tips for boosting engagement is talking directly to your audience. Instead of saying “Hey guys!” or “Hey y'all,” she recommends speaking to one person and looking into the camera. Here are a few more engagement hacks she swears by: ✅ Use the Poll and Question Stickers – These keep people interacting with your content. ✅ Encourage Direct Messages (DMs) – Instagram prioritizes Stories that spark DMs, so ask followers to reply instead of just using a question box. ✅ Turn on Story Notifications – Teach your audience how to get notified when you post so they never miss an update. The Instagram Stories Selling Formula Sara has been able to turn Instagram Stories into a profitable revenue stream by integrating affiliate links, brand deals, and strategic content placement. How Much Can You Make Selling in Stories? Affiliate income varies, but it can be a sustainable revenue stream when done consistently. Sara's advice? Only promote products you genuinely love. Your audience trusts you, and that trust translates into conversions. Is There a “Right” Way to Post Stories? Some creators say that letting your Stories reset to zero views for 24 hours once a week can help increase overall engagement. Sara typically does this on Sundays to reset and recharge. To restart her Story cycle, she begins with a text-heavy slide that asks followers to reply in her DMs. This signals Instagram that her Stories are engaging, which helps boost her reach. Final Tips for Selling in Stories Be consistent – Show up every day (or most days) to keep your audience engaged. Batch content when possible – Pre-recording saves time and reduces stress. Test different approaches – Try a mix of storytelling, product promotions, and engagement strategies to see what resonates best. Don't overthink it! – Stories are meant to be casual and fun. Treat them like a conversation with a friend. Want to Learn Even More? 3 Hacks to Keep Your Business Running While on Spring Break

Taking a break doesn't mean putting your business on hold. Whether you're heading out for spring break or a much-needed summer vacation, you can still stay productive without sacrificing quality time with your loved ones. In this episode of Creatives on Fire, I'm sharing three powerful productivity hacks that will help you keep your business running smoothly while truly enjoying your time away. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode186 Plan Ahead: Identify Your Non-Negotiables Before you head out on vacation, take some time to define your non-negotiables—the essential tasks that must happen for your business to continue running. The best-case scenario? Batch and schedule as much content as possible before leaving. If you haven't yet explored a scheduling tool, now is the perfect time to try a free trial. Scheduling your social media posts, emails, or blog content ahead of time allows you to focus on your trip without worrying about staying active online. Pro Tip: Check out my previous episode on batching content—linked in the show notes—for a deeper dive into how to prepare your content in advance. Time Management: Set Realistic Expectations Instead of promising yourself you'll work "whenever you find the time" (because let's be honest, you won't), map out a clear plan before you leave. Ask yourself: Will you have any downtime? Are you traveling with a big group, or will there be quiet moments? Would getting up early to work for an hour be realistic? If work is a must, decide in advance when and where you'll fit it in. Choose a dedicated workspace—whether it's a business center at your hotel or a cozy coffee shop nearby. Let your family or travel companions know when you'll be working so there are no unexpected interruptions. Another option? Hire a freelancer for one-time tasks while you're away. Platforms like Fiverr or Upwork allow you to delegate work like video editing, blog writing, or social media scheduling—freeing up your vacation for actual relaxation. Work on Your Business—Without Working Your time away is the perfect opportunity to capture content for future use. Take advantage of new locations, beautiful scenery, and unique experiences to gather B-roll footage or lifestyle photos. These images and videos will be invaluable for future blog posts, social media, and promotional materials. Need ideas? Film short video clips that can be used for Instagram Reels, TikTok, or background visuals for YouTube. Capture behind-the-scenes moments of your trip to share with your audience later. Ask a friend or family member to snap a few candid photos of you in different settings. Even if you're not actively writing or creating, you're still building a content bank that will serve you long after your vacation ends. Enjoy the Break You Deserve Remember, the goal is not to force productivity while you're on vacation—it's to set yourself up for success ahead of time so you can truly relax and recharge. Batch and schedule content before you leave. Decide your non-negotiables and carve out specific work time if necessary. Capture content passively without disrupting your vacation. By planning ahead and making strategic choices, you'll return refreshed—ready to take your blog and business to the next level. Happy travels, my friend. Until next time, stay creative. Facebook is Deleting Live Videos – This is What You Need to Do

Facebook recently announced that it will no longer store live video content indefinitely. Any new live videos will only be available for replay, download, or sharing for 30 days before being automatically deleted. If you have years' worth of live video content, you'll need to take action to save it before it's gone for good. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode184 Why Facebook Is Removing Live Videos So why is Facebook making this change? While they haven't provided an official reason, it's likely tied to server space, platform updates, and a shift toward short-form video content like Reels. This is a crucial reminder that we are all operating on borrowed real estate when we create content on social media. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms own the content we post, and they can change policies at any time. That's why having a strategy to back up and repurpose content is essential for long-term success. Your Options for Saving Facebook Live Videos Facebook is providing three main options once you receive a notification about your live video content: Download immediately – Save videos directly to your device. Archive for 90 days – Keep access to your videos temporarily before making a final decision. Postpone deletion for six months – Get extra time to manage and transfer your content. How to Download Your Facebook Live Videos If you want to manually save your videos, follow these steps: Go to Meta Business Suite at business.facebook.com. Navigate to Content and filter by Live Videos only. Click the three dots next to a video and select Download (SD or HD). For larger libraries, you may need external storage solutions like: Google Drive (free up to a certain limit) Dropbox (paid option) Amazon Photos (free for a limited amount of storage) An external hard drive for offline backup Automating the Process with Repurpose.io If downloading videos one by one sounds overwhelming, a third-party automation tool like Repurpose.io can do it for you. This tool: ✅ Automatically transfers Facebook Live videos to a storage location like Google Drive ✅ Removes watermarks for easy repurposing ✅ Allows you to republish content on other platforms Check out Repurpose.io here. What About Facebook Groups and Membership Content? If your Facebook Live videos are in private groups or memberships, you have additional considerations. Since these videos might be borrowed content from guest creators, make sure you: Download videos using a URL-grabbing tool (linked in show notes) Upload them to YouTube as unlisted videos Share the private playlist link with your members What Does This Mean for Video Creators? One big question remains: Will this impact Facebook video ad revenue? Previously, older videos could continue to generate ad income for creators. Now, without replays beyond 30 days, some creators may see a dip in revenue. Moving forward, you might consider:

    5 Game-Changing Blog Strategies for 2025 Success

"5 Must-Try Blog Strategies to Stay Ahead in 2025" Blogging has changed dramatically in recent years, and staying ahead means evolving with it. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refresh your approach, these five actionable strategy shifts will help your blog thrive in 2025. Let's dive in! https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode183 1. Revamp Your Opening Paragraphs Your blog's first paragraph should engage your readers like never before. Write as if you're having a real-time chat with them—use humor, heart, or stats to hook their attention. This conversational style will create a welcoming space for your readers to feel at home and keep coming back. 2. Shorter, Value-Packed Posts Gone are the days of stuffing your posts with unnecessary fluff. Focus on providing concise, impactful content that directly serves your readers. Skip the overused FAQs and filler paragraphs. Make every word count, so your audience gets straight to the value. 3. Add a Micro About Section Most visitors land on a single blog post rather than your homepage. Include a reusable block within each post—a quick “About This Blog” paragraph that shares who you are, who the blog is for, and how it solves their problems. This subtle introduction can make a lasting impression on new visitors. 4. Master Short, Hooky Titles Blog titles should be irresistible while still optimized for SEO. Work on combining hooks with keywords for titles that stand out in a crowded space. Bonus tip: Add a P.S. section at the end of each post to re-engage readers and naturally integrate additional keywords. 5. Double Down on CTAs Every blog post should include two calls to action: one for a freebie and one for a paid offer. Your freebies might be email signups or downloadable resources, while paid offers could include memberships, digital products, or affiliate links. Each post should act as a “soldier” working to generate income and grow your audience. Fuel Your Blog's Growth If you're ready to implement these strategies and connect with a community of like-minded bloggers, join my group, Fuel! This is your opportunity to collaborate, share insights, and accelerate your blog's success in 2025.

Hey there, my friend! Welcome back to Creatives on Fire, the podcast designed to help content creators like you grow your audience and income. This week, we're diving deep into a powerful mindset shift—what happens when quitting is not an option? https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode182 Imagine this: You step off a ship, feeling the solid ground beneath your feet. Then your leader turns to you and says, "Burn the boats." That's exactly what historical leaders like Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, and Cortez told their men. They had no Plan B—only victory or defeat. And guess what? They chose to succeed. Now, let's talk about your business. What if quitting wasn't an option? What if there was no backup plan? How would that change the way you approach blogging? Why Having No Plan B Can Change Everything When we give ourselves a safety net, we often take it. If blogging gets hard, we say, “Well, I can always go back to _______.” But what if you removed the escape route? What if you committed, wholeheartedly, to making your blog your primary business? If you're ready to push forward and make blogging work for you, it comes down to three key things: ✔ Conviction – Believing in your blog's purpose ✔ Commitment – Showing up consistently ✔ Conversion – Turning content into income Let's break them down. 1. Conviction: Believe in Your Blog's Purpose The foundation of your success starts with believing that blogging is the way to build your business. It's your home base. Every piece of content—your social media, emails, videos—should lead back to your blog.

How to Grow a Multi-Platform Online Business with Julie Oxendine

If you've ever dreamed of turning your craft into a full-time income, this episode of Creatives on Fire is for you! I sat down with my dear friend Julie Oxendine, the powerhouse behind Julie's Wreath Boutique, to talk about how she built a thriving creative business across multiple platforms. From a humble kitchen table to a full-scale social media empire, Julie has mastered the art of selling, teaching, and growing an engaged audience. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode181 From Hobby to Thriving Business Julie started her wreath-making business nine and a half years ago with no prior experience in social media or online selling. After watching a YouTube video of someone selling wreaths on Etsy, she thought, "I can do that!"—and she did. Her first craft show resulted in $800 in sales, proving there was demand for her beautiful handmade creations. However, by the end of her first three months, she realized she had only profited $500 after expenses. That was the turning point. Instead of giving up, Julie prayed for guidance and set a clear intention: If this business isn't going to change my family's life, I can't do it. That same day, everything started to shift. A blogger discovered her viral sunflower wreath design and featured it on Good Housekeeping, leading to an explosion of traffic to her Etsy shop and social media pages. The Power of Social Media for Creators Julie credits social media with taking her business from a side hustle to a full-time income. She started with Facebook and Etsy, growing her audience organically by engaging with her followers and sharing content consistently. In 2017, she expanded to YouTube, where she quickly monetized her channel and began seeing real profits. Key social media strategies that fueled Julie's growth:Consistent Posting: She schedules posts for Facebook and Instagram using Meta Business Suite to maintain a steady presence. Engagement Over Selling: Instead of constantly pushing sales, she shares valuable, engaging content that her audience wants to interact with. Leveraging Viral Content: She repurposes her most popular reels, tutorials, and projects across different platforms, making each post work harder for her. Multi-Platform Strategy: She now creates content for Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, ensuring she reaches her audience wherever they are. Today, Julie has over 2 million followers across platforms and is a sought-after social media business coach for creatives looking to scale their businesses. Monetization: Making Money Beyond Handmade Products Julie quickly realized that selling handmade products alone would cap her income. To scale her earnings, she expanded into digital products, coaching, and brand partnerships. Here's how she diversified her revenue streams: Selling Digital Products: She created video tutorials that customers can purchase, allowing her to earn without physically making wreaths. Subscription Groups: She launched Julie's Crafting Boutique for hobbyists and Julie's Biz Boutique for creative entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses. Not starting her email list sooner! Social media platforms can change their algorithms or even disappear, but an email list is yours to control. Julie grew her email list by: Offering Freebies (like a free wreath tutorial) in exchange for email signups. Running Exclusive Giveaways only for email subscribers. Advice for New Creators Julie's top piece of advice for those just starting out? Believe that you can do it. She started as a stay-at-home mom with no business experience, no audience, and no clue where to begin. Now, she has multiple income streams, brand deals, and the ability to support her family without selling a single wreath. “If you had told me 10 years ago I'd be working with Hobby Lobby, YouTube, and major brands, I would have laughed. If you've ever wondered how to turn a creative passion into a sustainable business, this episode is packed with actionable tips and insights. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode180 A Story of Resilience and Resourcefulness In 2020, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, Kara and her husband faced an unexpected job loss and $60,000 in medical debt. Determined to make ends meet, Kara picked up a paintbrush and transformed an old piece of furniture. That single act sparked an idea that would lead to a flourishing business. From custom furniture flips to selling unique creations on Facebook Marketplace, Kara and her husband hustled to keep their home and pay off their debt. In just a year, they had not only stabilized their finances but also discovered a new path: YouTube. Why YouTube? Kara credits YouTube for changing her life. Inspired by other creators like Christina Mascari from Pretty Distressed, she decided to document her journey flipping furniture. In just five months, her channel was monetized—a feat that typically takes over a year for most creators. Kara's story highlights the importance of consistency and a business-focused approach to content creation. The Shift to Brands and Diversified Income Once her YouTube channel gained traction, Kara began working with brands. She shares invaluable advice for creators: Know Your Worth: Don't settle for free products; your time and skills are valuable. Be Strategic: Use brand collaborations as a way to supplement and diversify your income. Take Advantage of Opportunities: Kara emphasizes participating in YouTube surveys, which helped her connect with programs like YouTube Shorts and Shop Star. Top Tips from Kara: Consistency is Key: Show up for your audience with regular, high-quality content. Think Long-Term: Build content that is evergreen and can generate income for years. Collaborate with Purpose: Choose brand partnerships and content ideas that align with your goals. Use YouTube's Resources: Participate in surveys and feedback opportunities to unlock unique programs and tools. What's Next for Kara? Kara is transitioning her content to focus on home-related topics and financial freedom, aiming to inspire others to overcome debt and create a life they love. How to Find Success Blogging in 2025

Welcome to 2025, my friend! It's a brand-new year, and there's no better time to reset, refocus, and reignite your blogging journey. Whether you're inching closer to ad monetization with platforms like Journey or Mediavine or looking to gain serious traction this year, let's set you up for success. I just returned from a transformative mastermind retreat where I learned powerful strategies that can help you elevate your blog to new heights. Today, I'm sharing the three key pillars for blog growth: Clarity, Consistency, and Collaboration. Let's dive in! https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode178 1. Clarity: Define Your Purpose Clarity is your foundation for success. If you've been feeling lost, wondering what to post or who you're creating for, it's time to step back and get laser-focused. Identify Your Audience Who is your ideal reader? Are they struggling with something you've already overcome? Maybe they're where you were five years ago, and you have the knowledge to help them. Define your niche and understand their pain points and dreams. Plan with Purpose Once you've nailed down your audience, start organizing your ideas. A content calendar will help you map out high-value posts that serve your readers and align with your goals. I've created a Content Planner for Creatives, designed specifically for bloggers. It's a 52-week guide to help you stay consistent, organized, and focused. Get yours at creativesonfirepodcast.com/planner. 2. Consistency: Create Momentum Consistency is where the magic happens. But let's be honest—sticking to a schedule can feel daunting, especially for us creatives. Here's how to make it manageable: Establish Systems and Workflows Streamline your processes so that creating content feels natural. With a solid workflow, you'll build momentum and stay productive without feeling overwhelmed. Make Accountability a Priority Having people in your corner to cheer you on and hold you accountable is a game-changer. This is where community comes in (more on that in a moment!). 3. Collaboration: Grow Together Blogging doesn't have to be a solo journey. In fact, collaboration can be the secret ingredient to faster growth and greater visibility. Find Your Business Buddies Surround yourself with like-minded creators who understand your goals and can help you stay consistent. Share ideas, cross-promote, and learn from each other's experiences. Join a Supportive Community I'm thrilled to introduce Fuel, a group designed to help bloggers like you uplevel your business. 10 Smart Hacks to Give Your Business a Fresh Start in 2025

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 6, 2025 20:37

Welcome to 2025, my friend! This is the year to approach your business with clarity, focus, and intention. Just like you might declutter your home or tidy up your fridge at the start of a new year, your business deserves the same attention. If decision fatigue and lack of focus held you back last year, these 10 actionable ideas will help you hit reset and start 2025 on the right foot. 10 Smart Hacks to Give Your Business a Fresh Start in 2025 1. Clean Out Blog Drafts Those unfinished drafts lingering in your blog dashboard? They might be doing more harm than good. Seeing a long list of incomplete posts can subconsciously weigh you down. Pro Tip: Use the WP All Export plugin to save unfinished drafts into a spreadsheet. This way, you can revisit your ideas without cluttering your dashboard. A clean slate means you can focus on creating new, high-quality content. 2. Review and Remove Plugins Unused plugins can slow down your site and negatively impact page speed—an essential factor for keeping readers engaged. Action Step: Deactivate and delete plugins you haven't used in the last three months. If you're hesitant, create a list of the removed plugins for future reference. 3. Update Blog Post Titles for 2025 Do you have posts with “2024” in the title? Update them to reflect the new year to keep your content relevant. Pro Tip: Use “find and replace” tools or your content management system's search function to locate and revise titles efficiently. Avoid including years in URLs to save yourself extra work. 4. Refresh Your About Page Your about page is like your digital business card—it's often the first place readers and brands look to learn more about you. Update Checklist: Replace outdated images with fresh ones. Verify that all links are functional. Revise your bio to reflect your current goals and accomplishments. Need guidance? I've linked a handy template in the show notes to help you create an about page that shines. 5. Audit Your Opt-Ins Are your opt-ins converting as well as they should? Check to ensure your lead magnets are still relevant and working properly. Action Step: Review your conversion rates and tweak underperforming opt-ins. If one performs significantly better than the others, analyze what's working and apply those strategies across the board. 6. Update Your Footer Date A small but essential detail: update the copyright year in your site's footer to 2025. This shows your audience (and potential partners) that your site is actively maintained. 7. Clear Out Your Email Inbox An overflowing inbox is mentally draining. Quick Fix: Create a folder labeled “2024” and move all emails from last year into it. Start fresh with an empty inbox for 2025. Dedicate time each week to tackle the older emails if necessary. 8. Organize Your Browser Tabs Are you guilty of having dozens of open tabs? Grouping and decluttering your browser tabs can save your computer's memory and your sanity. Pro Tip: Use Chrome's “Group Tab” feature to categorize tabs by color and purpose. Then, close or delete tabs that no longer serve you. 9. Address Unfinished Courses If you've purchased online courses you haven't completed, it's time to either dive in or let them go. Action Step: Add unfinished courses to your planner with specific dates to tackle them. Skim through to decide if they're still relevant. If not, remove them to free up mental space. 10. Declutter Your Phone Apps and Photos Your phone is your portable office—keep it streamlined for maximum efficiency. Declutter Checklist: Delete apps you rarely use (you can always re-download them later). Back up your photos and videos using apps like Amazon Photos or external hard drives. Organize essential apps into folders for easy access. Start Your Year with a Plan The key to staying consistent and productive in 2025 is planning. My 52-Week Content Planner for Creatives can help you map out your year with intention and clarity. Grab your planner here. This year, it's time to let go of the clutter—both physical and mental—and step into 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose. By implementing these 10 strategies, you'll create the clarity and focus you need to take your business to the next level. Let's make this your most productive and successful year yet. How to Make 2025 Your Breakthrough Year

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 30, 2024 11:38

As we sit on the cusp of a new year, it's natural to reflect on what we've achieved and where we've fallen short. But this isn't just about looking back—it's about deciding how you want to move forward. What if the secret to your success wasn't doing more, but doing less? In this episode, I'm challenging you to adopt a mindset shift for 2025: commit to less, grow more. Let's explore why this works, how to implement it, and how you can build the business you've always dreamed of while working smarter, not harder. 1. Why “Less Is More” Works The temptation to do it all is strong. We feel like we need to spread ourselves thin across platforms, projects, and ideas to ensure we're covering all our bases. But often, this approach leads to burnout and stagnation. When you focus your energy on a singular goal or area, you: Create clarity in your business direction. Do higher-quality work in less time. See faster, more consistent growth. The Plan: Commit to less for 90 days. Focus on one area of your business—whether it's blogging, YouTube, or social media—and double down. Watch as your progress takes off. 2. Plan Your Year with Intention A successful year starts with a solid plan. Here's how to get started: Fill in your personal calendar first. Mark vacations, birthdays, and self-care days. These are non-negotiables. Dedicate specific time blocks to work. Limit your work hours to increase focus and productivity. Use a content planner. My 52-Week Content Planner for Creatives is designed to keep you consistent and organized. Pro Tip: When your work time is limited, you'll naturally prioritize tasks that move the needle instead of getting stuck in busywork. 3. Identify Your Zone of Genius Every successful entrepreneur has a “zone of genius”—the tasks that come naturally and energize them. To identify yours: Think about what you love doing and could excel at for free. Ask yourself: What do others frequently compliment me on? Consider what feels effortless compared to other parts of your business. Once you've identified your zone of genius, hire out the rest. Yes, even if you're on a tight budget. Sell unused items, cut unnecessary expenses, or find creative ways to fund outsourcing tasks that drain your energy. 4. Commit to Being #1 (Even If It's Just in Your Mind) Ask yourself: What would it take to be number one in my chosen niche or platform? How would you spend your time? Who would you need to network with? What skills or knowledge would you need to acquire? Visualizing this level of excellence helps you create a roadmap for your daily and weekly habits. You don't have to be the best—but working as though you're striving for the top will transform your business. 5. Join a Community for Accountability Making big changes alone can feel daunting. That's why I created Fuel, a mastermind group designed to help you: Stay accountable to your goals. Get real-time feedback from like-minded entrepreneurs. Build the confidence to grow your business strategically. Details: Fuel launches in January! Join us for expert insights, peer support, and a roadmap to success in 2025. Sign up here. Are you ready to take your blog or content creation to the next level with dream brand partnerships? In this episode, I had the privilege of chatting with Justin Moore, founder of Creator Wizard and author of the upcoming book Sponsor Magnet. Justin specializes in helping creators like you find, negotiate, and secure brand partnerships that align with your platform and audience. If you've ever struggled with pricing, pitching, or finding the right brands to work with, this conversation is a goldmine of insights. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode174 Key Takeaways from the Episode 1. Shift the Power Dynamic Many creators feel like they're at the mercy of brands, but Justin flips that mindset. Brands need your audience and influence just as much as you need their support. Approach partnerships as a meeting of equals. Tip: Avoid settling for “free product” collaborations. Your time, influence, and platform are valuable—charge accordingly. 2. The Art of Negotiation Justin emphasizes the importance of avoiding pre-set pricing in media kits. Every brand partnership is unique, so tailor your pricing based on the brand's objectives. Justin's Framework: When asked for your pricing, respond with: “Before I provide rates, can you share your goals and what success would look like for this campaign?” Follow up with a customized proposal offering multiple packages at different price points. Pro Tip: Lean into the silence during negotiations—it's often where the magic happens! 3. The Value of Audience Insights Your audience is your greatest asset in pitching brands. Justin suggests conducting a psychographic survey to learn more about their preferences, habits, and challenges. Why It Works: It highlights brands that resonate with your audience. It positions you as the perfect partner because you can show brands exactly how your audience aligns with their target customers. 4. Create a Pitching Habit Don't wait for brands to come to you. Justin stresses the importance of proactively pitching brands you love. How to Start: Dedicate time weekly to reaching out to brands and following up on previous pitches. Nurture relationships by sharing relevant articles, insights, or campaign ideas. Build a “sales pipeline” of potential opportunities to keep the income flowing. 5. Understand Brand Vetting Brands do their homework before reaching out. Ensure your blog and social profiles: Clearly show that you work with brands. Have updated contact information (include email addresses in plain text on social bios). Consistently align with your niche and brand voice. As the year winds down, it's a tough time for content creators. Many are quitting, but in this episode, we'll tackle why that's happening and how to fix it. From refining your niche to staying consistent and avoiding content burnout, this episode is packed with actionable strategies to help you keep going strong. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode173 Key Takeaways: Get Clear on Your Niche Lack of focus is a top reason creators quit. Having a clear niche simplifies content creation and attracts the right audience. Use the free resource, Pinpoint Your Passion, to narrow down your interests, identify your strengths, and find your field of favor. [Link in show notes.] Example: Kelly Radcliff niched down to zinnias and saw massive growth, building an Instagram following of 250,000+. Commit to Consistency Consistency builds trust and interest, two keys to audience growth. Define what consistency looks like for you—weekly blog posts, daily social media updates, or monthly newsletters. Apply consistency to your marketing strategy. Use three to five SEO keywords repeatedly across your content and branding to drive traffic and build familiarity. Avoid Content Fade Content fade, or burnout from constant content creation, is a major obstacle for creators. Focus on creating impactful content that resonates with your audience, not just churning out posts to "throw spaghetti at the wall." Don't get lost “in the weeds” of endless editing and overthinking. Aim for "good enough" content and prioritize getting it out there. Pro Tip: Perfect is the enemy of progress. Set limits on editing time and prioritize consistency over perfection. Your audience cares more about how you make them feel than every detail of your content. Call to Action: Get Focused: Download Pinpoint Your Passion to find your perfect niche. Whether you're new to Pinterest or looking to level up, Tony Hill's insights in this rare interview are invaluable! https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode171 Key Takeaways: Why Pinterest is a Goldmine for Bloggers: Pinterest offers higher ad RPMs compared to Google traffic, meaning you can earn more with less traffic. The platform allows multiple opportunities for exposure compared to Google's rigid rankings. Pinterest appeals to users looking for inspiration and ideas, making it an ideal platform for bloggers in DIY, food, and lifestyle niches. Practical Tips for Pinterest Success: Understand the Platform: Spend time using Pinterest as a user to see trends, pin designs, and popular topics. Create Inspiring Content: Focus on topics that inspire action—like recipes, home projects, or visual ideas. Use Tools like Pinclicks: Tony's tool helps identify trending keywords and top-performing pin designs in your niche. Strategies for Bloggers Pivoting to Pinterest: Consider adding Pinterest-specific content to your current blog rather than starting a new one. Use a no-index strategy for posts targeted at Pinterest to protect your Google rankings. Embrace AI for content creation, but focus on making visually engaging, actionable posts that resonate with Pinterest's audience. The Future of Pinterest: Pinterest's user base continues to grow, especially among younger audiences like Gen Z. Its focus on inspiration and planning makes it a sustainable platform for bloggers looking to diversify traffic sources. See what performs best and adjust your strategy based on what resonates. Use a Conversational Tone: Start posts like you're writing an email to a friend, making your content feel more personal. The Power of a Well-Optimized Sidebar: What You Need to Know

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 12, 2024 7:33

This week, we're talking about a topic that often gets overlooked but is crucial for your blog's success—the Sidebar. But before we jump into optimizing that little widget on the right-hand side of your blog, let's talk briefly about some big news in the digital world. Google recently lost a significant lawsuit declaring them to be a monopoly, which could bring about major changes in the online landscape over the next few years.  While the exact impact on our blog traffic remains to be seen, this shakeup could create new opportunities for other search engines like Search GPT, Bing, and DuckDuckGo to gain traction. This could mean more eyeballs on your posts and more chances to be discovered. Why Your Sidebar Matters More Than You Think Now, let's shift our focus to something more within our control—your blog's Sidebar. If you're like me, you might not have paid much attention to it since you first installed your latest theme. However, the Sidebar is a critical part of your blog's user experience and can greatly impact your site's performance. I used to have an author box, an email opt-in, and even my Pinterest feed over there, thinking it was a good way to engage readers. But after learning from experts like Brandon Gailey from the Blogging Millionaire Podcast, I realized I was making some big mistakes. The Sidebar should be optimized for performance and conversions. First, make sure your Sidebar is on the right-hand side of your blog—this is crucial for user navigation and site speed. Avoid cluttering it with social media plugins that slow down your page. Instead, focus on your lowest hanging fruit: your email opt-in or freebie offer, followed by a widget displaying your latest 10 to 15 posts. This setup not only improves user engagement but also helps with internal linking, which can boost your Google rankings. Key Takeaways for a Clean and Effective Sidebar To sum it up, your Sidebar should be clean, concise, and strategically designed to promote your content and products. Start with your most important opt-ins at the top, followed by recent posts, and finish with higher-ticket items like courses or memberships. If you don't have your own products yet, consider placing affiliate links—but remember to keep images minimal and optimized to avoid slowing down your site. A well-optimized Sidebar can make a huge difference in how visitors interact with your blog and how search engines rank your site. I hope these tips help you rethink and revamp your Sidebar. It's a small part of your blog, but when done right, it can have a big impact. https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode156 Links and resources mentioned during this episode: 155 | Search GPT: Boost Your Blog's Visibility with These Essential Tips Brandon Gaille's Blogging Millionaire Podcast: Link to Podcast Start a Blog: Blog Kickstart 2024 Content Planner Creatives On Fire™️ Content Planner SUBSCRIBE AND REVIEW I am honored to share a new Blogging Creative on Fire each week on the podcast to bring you inspiration, behind-the-scenes secrets, and quality tips.
