The Midwest REI Conference was a huge success and we were able to catch up with our friend Ramond Harris II. You may remember Ramond as the Detroit flipper, wholesaler and rehabber who shared his story in episodes #168, #225 & #334 while we brainstormed ways for him to fix his broken business model and get rid of three trucks that were costing him over $25,000 per year in debt payments. This episode was recorded at the RPOA's 2024 Midwest Real Estate Investor Conference in Grand Rapids where we were joined by Justin Workman for an exciting mastermind session to discuss his real estate businesses as well as his FedEx routes and new business prospects on the horizon. For those of you who remember Ramond from past episodes, I know you'll be incredibly impressed by his progress and experience. You can contact Ramond through email at ramond.harris@yahoo.com. Bit of context; Only just got the podcast up and running and hadn't done many interviews if any before I asked the great Andy Raymond to hop on for a chat. The legend said yes to my surprise and through a few technical difficulties we had a great chat about footy and about Andy's great career. Awesome chat and thought I'd post this while the podcast is on holidays!!!

Christ Comes for Division, Not Peace? | 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time | 08.14.2022 | Fr. Sean Conroy Today's readings: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/080722.cfm Polish man named Raymond: had a vision of Mary holding a red crown (martyrdom) and a white crown (purity/celibacy) Years later, he became a Franciscan. Started a radio station, and talked about Mary and the saints to bring people hope. This all arose at the same time of the world wars. September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland from the west, and a few weeks later, Russia invaded Poland from the East, which made Poland the center of the war in many ways. During the invasions, many priests were arrested, including Raymond—twice. The second time, one man was arrested for escaping, and they lined up the male prisoners for execution. The escapee begged for his life, because he had a wife and children. Raymond immediately stepped forward and offered his life in his place. The SS soldier was so touched by Ramond's compassion, he spared him at the beginning, but he was eventually put in the starvation chamber. And so, Raymond began to sing for hope, because… “There's something in this life worth fighting for, There's something in this life worth living for, and there's something in this life worth dying for.”—Fr. Sean Conroy Eventually, the Nazis injected Raymond with a lethal dose of carbolic acid. "The guards wanted the bunker emptied, so they gave Kolbe a lethal injection of carbolic acid. Kolbe is said to have raised his left arm and calmly waited for the deadly injection. He died on 14 August 1941. His remains were cremated on 15 August, the feast day of the Assumption of Mary.” “Life can be hard; life can be challenging. When we live the Gospel, it's going to be challenging. We're going to be made fun of—we're going to be persecuted—we may even have to shed our blood, but there is always Christian hope.”—Fr. Sean Conroy Jer 38:4-6, 8-10 Jeremiah sank into the cistern full of mud, but he never lost hope. “Then the king ordered Ebed-melech the Cushite to take three men along with him, and draw the prophet Jeremiah out of the cistern before he should die.” Psalm 40: “Lord, come to my aid! I have waited, waited for the LORD, and he stooped toward me. R. Lord, come to my aid! The LORD heard my cry. He drew me out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud of the swamp; he set my feet upon a crag; he made firm my steps. R. Lord, come to my aid! And he put a new song into my mouth, a hymn to our God. Many shall look on in awe and trust in the LORD. R. Lord, come to my aid! Though I am afflicted and poor, yet the LORD thinks of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, hold not back! R. Lord, come to my aid!” “What is fire? Fire is often seen as judgment. But fire also brings hope, because it purifies us. So why does Jesus want to cast fire upon the earth? It's not to condemn us. Why does he want to bring division? Jesus wants to get rid of anything that does not belong of Him. Like fire-tried gold.”—Fr. Sean Conroy “Ask Jesus to purify anything that's in us that's not of Him. Jesus, we ask you that as you do this, you might give us the grace to be truly in for You. To pull us out of any despair that we may be in. Give us courage to speak Your truth; give us courage to live the Gospel in this world. That even if we're persecuted, we might be willing to give our life for You, just as St. Maximilian Kolbe did. Amen.” —Fr. Sean Conroy

Last year at the RPOA annual conference I met Ramond Harris for the first time. After hearing his story about flipping, wholesaling and rehabbing in the Detroit area, I knew we needed to record a podcast. You may remember the Mastermind conversation we had with friends of this show Justin Workman and Patrick Spitzley on episode #168 where we helped brainstorm ways Ramond could fix his broken business model, decrease his debt by shedding some unused assets, and set himself up for huge growth. Now, a year later, we’ve all met back up at the RPOA 2020 annual conference and we’re going to mastermind again with Ramond to see what’s changed and how his business has progressed since we last talked. We’ll also be discussing some new marketing and deal flow challenges that have cropped up, and how he might tackle them. Joining us as well is Stephen Benedict, local Sheriff’s Sale Auction expert from episode #101, who has some valuable advice on how to beat out the competition at the auction table. I know you’re going to enjoy this episode as much as I did. Ramond is very open about the very common challenges he faces in his business. You’ll also benefit greatly from the advice offered during the show.

I met Ramond Harris II at the RPOA's Annual Conference last month, and after hearing his story I knew that we needed to record a podcast immediately. You see, Ramond is seemingly a successful Detroit-based wholesaler, rehabber & flipper. But there was something wrong with his business model, and he was trying to figure out how to fix it. So I invited Patrick Spitzley and Justin Workman, two experienced rehabbers and Friends of the Show, to join us for a Mastermind Session, in which we learned about the challenges facing Ramond in his business, analyzed his situation, and helped him come up with concrete solutions to improve his systems and create more profit for himself. And I thought we were doing a pretty good job. Until half-way through the mastermind session Ramond dropped a bomb into the conversation. At that point we realized what the real problem was...! I know you're going to enjoy this conversation with Ramond. You'll learn a lot about what it means to be an entrepreneur and investor, and how some of the decisions we make can impact us without even realizing it. Ramond really opens himself up to the group and isn't afraid to share the whole truth about his business. At the end of the episode you'll also get to enjoy a recent update from Ramond, as well as the conversation that took place after everyone thought I'd turned of the microphones! This is one of my favorite episodes, so I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Ramond can be reached by email: ramond.harris@yahoo.com
Who advocates for a 4-year-old unaccompanied migrant when she has her day in court? Rich Leimsider, Executive Director of the Safe Passage Project, joins us to tell how his organization provides legal aid to immigrant children in and around NYC. Plus, hosts Violet, Ramond, Theresa and Emily talk repercussions at long last now that the Mueller Report is out-- and what no indictments means for the Democrats.
This week on Objection to the Rule, hosts Violet and Ramond discuss what happens as Trump's government shutdown stretches on. Plus, we unpack Mayor de Blasio's surprise announcement about the L Train, and the effects of populist - and authoritarian - governments in Brazil and Hungary.
You might find balance in your home, family and career-- but try having a child in NYC, and you're in for a whole new set of challenges. This week we are joined by journalist and new father Kouichi Shirayanagi, who shares just how expensive it is to pay for daycare in New York, and how that complicates things for a family who are getting started in their careers. Plus, hosts Violet and Ramond discuss the side effects of the government shutdown for workers living on the edge, and what a new caravan of Central American migrants will mean.

This week we hear from two candidates in New York's coming 2018 elections: Larry Sharpe and Zellnor Myrie In our first half, Sharpe talks with cohost Rosie and Ramond to share his story and perspectives on the Libertarian platforms in his bid for governor this Fall. Then we talk with Zellnor Myrie, a Democratic candidate running for the New York State Senate. Z, who is running against incumbent Jesse Hamilton from the Independent Democratic Conference, tells us what affordable housing initiatives excite him, how he will work to provide for ailing city schools, and how the IDC has failed progressive New York ideals.

The Licensing of Midwives: An Exploration of the Interaction of Medical and Legal Institutions." This thesis discusses several aspects of string field theory. The first issue is bosonic open-closed string field theory and its associated algebraic structure -- the quantum open-closed homotopy algebra. We describe the quantum open-closed homotopy algebra in the framework of homotopy involutive Lie bialgebras, as a morphism from the loop homotopy Lie algebra of closed string to the involutive Lie bialgebra on the Hochschild complex of open strings. The formulation of the classical/quantum open-closed homotopy algebra in terms of a morphism from the closed string algebra to the open string Hochschild complex reveals deformation properties of closed strings on open string field theory. In particular, we show that inequivalent classical open string field theories are parametrized by closed string backgrounds up to gauge transformations. At the quantum level the correspondence is obstructed, but for other realizations such as the topological string, a non-trivial correspondence persists. Furthermore, we proof the decomposition theorem for the loop homotopy Lie algebra of closed string field theory, which implies uniqueness of closed string field theory on a fixed conformal background. Second, the construction of string field theory can be rephrased in terms of operads. In particular, we show that the formulation of string field theory splits into two parts: The first part is based solely on the moduli space of world sheets and ensures that the perturbative string amplitudes are recovered via Feynman rules. The second part requires a choice of background and determines the real string field theory vertices. Each of these parts can be described equivalently as a morphism between appropriate cyclic and modular operads, at the classical and quantum level respectively. The algebraic structure of string field theory is then encoded in the composition of these two morphisms. Finally, we outline the construction of type II superstring field theory. Specific features of the superstring are the appearance of Ramond punctures and the picture changing operators. The sewing in the Ramond sector requires an additional constraint on the state space of the world sheet conformal field theory, such that the associated symplectic structure is non-degenerate, at least on-shell. Moreover, we formulate an appropriate minimal area metric problem for type II world sheets, which can be utilized to sketch the construction of a consistent set of geometric vertices. The algebraic structure of type II superstring field theory is that of a $mathcal{N}=1$ loop homotopy Lie algebra at the quantum level, and that of a $mathcal{N}=1$ homotopy Lie algebra at the classical level.
