Segment 1 • Charlie Kirk memorial created a “cultural moment” and Christian revival. • Revival sparks emotion, but true reformation requires Scripture and discipleship. • Gospel must remain central—don't swap truth for politics or feelings. Segment 2 • True reformation is built on ordinary means: Word, prayer, sacraments, discipleship. • Local churches—not viral events—grow Christians for the long haul. • Fearless discipleship starts at the kitchen table and in the pew, not in stadiums. Segment 3 • Bishop sells $13M condo funded by the poor vs. Canada's euthanasia surge. • 1 in 20 deaths in Canada now comes from “assisted dying.” • Both stories reveal comfort over sacrifice—but Christ calls us to self-denial. Segment 4 • Catholic sex abuse scandal: $230M settlement, 500+ victims in one diocese. • Quebec bans public prayer—secularism legislated into daily life. • Taliban's rules leave Afghan women to die—contrasted with Jesus' radical dignity toward women at the cross. ___ Thanks for listening! Two things are simultaneously true about every human being: we all long for something greater than ourselves to worship and serve, yet we fiercely resist any authority that threatens our control. This tension is represented in the magi and King Herod in Matthew 2. In this sermon, we explore the remarkable truth that Jesus is the fulfillment of Israel's hopes (and ours). In Jesus, the nations are gathered in, evil is defeated, and a new Exodus has begun.Series Description: Jesus is the hero of all of Scripture, the center of the biblical story, and the most important figure in history. The Gospel of Matthew gives us a firsthand look at the life and teachings of Jesus. It stands as a “bridge” between the Old and New Testaments, grounding us in the rich story of Israel while revealing the in-breaking reality of the kingdom of heaven. Through this preaching series, we seek to help people encounter the gospel of the kingdom and embody it as flourishing disciples who live under the gracious rule of God.

The philosopher George Santayana once said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” While many would agree, few have considered how this truth applies to the message of Christianity. Just 500 years ago, foundational truths like the authority of Scripture, the work of Christ, salvation by faith, the free gift of grace, and the glory of God were not only questioned but worse – they were being deliberately distorted. Much of what was preached had very little to do with Christ and the message proclaimed by the church was not good news at all. However, in 1517, by God's grace, a movement called the Reformation began to bring these truths back into focus. Luther, along with others, clarified and defended the core doctrines of the Christian faith with five essential truths that still shape the church today: Scripture alone, Christ alone, Faith alone, Grace alone, and God's glory alone. If we forget them, take them for granted, or fail to defend them, we'll risk spreading a version of Christianity that is no longer centered on Christ or filled with good news. Even worse, we'll miss God's intended design for the message of the gospel and miss Him in the process.

Pastor John Murphy began a new series 'Faithful Foundations' on the Solas of the Reformation, reminding us that without an anchor we drift, just as the church did before the Reformation. From Romans 1:16–17, he highlighted Martin Luther's discovery that salvation is not earned by works but received as a gift of God through faith alone—a truth that opened the “gateway to paradise.” The five Solas remind us today that according to Scripture alone, salvation is in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, for the glory of God alone.

In England in 1536, a number of small monasteries were dissolved, their assets removed to the Head of the Church in England, which was now Henry VIII, and the people either pensioned off or sent on to find places at one of the hundreds of monastic institutions remaining across the country. The large scale survey commissioned by the king, know as the Valor Ecclesiasticus, was a wide ranging and deeply thorough record of church assets, which covered the majority of the country and, critically, the population. It is far more detailed than its earlier, and more famous, sister survey the ‘Domesday Book' and it reveals in incredible detail the lives of ordinary people and the landscape you would have seen if you lived at this time. In this interview we also learn that a total, full scale dissolution of all monasteries in England and Wales was not the plan, how passive resistance was strong and tells us a lot about Henry VIII's actual power, and how women were uniquely affected by the closures.(Get the extended, ad-free edit of this interview a week early in Patreon.com/BritishHistory)Professor James Clark is one of THE leading authorities on the dissolution of the monasteries and drops truth bombs which will make you have to reevaluate everything you think you know about Henry VIII's plans, and even the man himself.

The system of false teaching known as Socinianism proved a thorn in the side of the Reformed churches for more than two centuries. Even today, the essential tenets of Socinianism are still with us, and aspects of it pop up in the teaching of such movements as Unitarian Universalism, 'Oneness' Pentecostalism, Christadelphianism, and among the Jehovah's Witnesses.  As such, it is well for us to take a closer look at this movement, its key commitments, and how it emerged in the context of Reformation-era Europe.    Banner resources relevant to Socinianism: – The Works of John Owen, Volume 12: The Gospel Defended (Clothbound, 639 pages) – The Works of Andrew Fuller (1 Volume, 1012 pages) – William Cunningham, Historical Theology (Clothbound, 1408 pages)   John Owen's (tragically amusing) presentation of John Biddle's Socinianism, in the form of a satirical catechism, can be found on pages 588 to 590 of The Works of John Owen, vol. 12: The Gospel Defended.  This week's podcast artwork features an image of a plaque in the Sozzini's palace in Siena which depicts Fausto and Lelio Sozzini. Names carry meaning. In his birth account, Matthew introduces two names that reveal who Jesus truly is. He is called Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. He is called Immanuel, because he is God with us. n this sermon, we reflect on how these two names reveal the character and identity of Jesus: He is God incarnate who has come near to save sinners, and his presence never leaves us.Series Description: Jesus is the hero of all of Scripture, the center of the biblical story, and the most important figure in history.

We rarely hear about Marten Micron, a young Dutch pastor who came to London as a refugee, and helped organise one of the most radical experiments of Edward VI's reign: the Stranger Church at Austin Friars. I'm historian and author Claire Ridgway, and in today's video I'll be sharing the remarkable story of Marten Micron: his ministry among London's refugees, his influential writings on church order and catechism, his exile under Mary I, and his enduring legacy in the Reformation. In this episode: - Who Marten Micron was and how he came to London. - Why the Stranger Churches were so significant in Edward VI's England. - Micron's role in shaping worship, discipline, and teaching. - His exile, death, and why his writings still mattered across Europe. Join me as we uncover the story of a reformer too often forgotten, yet whose influence rippled far beyond Tudor England.   What do you think—should Marten Micron be remembered alongside figures like Cranmer and Calvin? We need to have an understanding of the difference between God's protection and becoming a martyr. Is it true that God protects at times, but at other times allows believers to be martyred? It is not that simple. As a believer, situations will arise that will try to take your life prematurely, but God always promises a way of escape. Being a martyr is a choice between you and heaven, but many do not know we have a choice. Jesus said, "No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily." God's promise of protection and deliverance stands. He does not want our life and purpose on this earth stolen. But when the time comes, and our purpose on earth has been completed, we have the choice to lay it down willingly. (Our apologies for the quality. This is an older recording from before we were releasing teaching online.)

Endure Sound Doctrine: Walking Upstream in the Last Days | KIB 496 Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Description In Kingdom Intelligence Briefing #496, Dr. Michael & Mary Lou Lake call the remnant to endure sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4) and reject the avalanche of error sweeping the modern church. From hermeneutics (exegesis vs. eisegesis) to functional kingdom theology, they unpack how to live the ultimate counterculture—holy, steadfast, and free from Babylon's influence. Includes intercession, ministry updates, biblical correction done in love, and a closing prayer commissioning the remnant to walk the King's Highway. Key Scriptures: 2 Timothy 4:1–5; themes of holiness, sanctification, endurance, and returning to the full counsel of God (Genesis → Revelation). Prayer Focus & Updates: Intercede against occult activity, protection of children, healing for Justin & spouse, Troy's surgery, and continued recovery after cataract surgery. Note the overlap of Fall Equinox (Sept 22) with Feast of Trumpets—pray that the authority of Jesus neutralizes darkness. ⏱️ Chapters / Timeline 00:00 – Opening & Mission of KIB: equipping the end-times remnant 02:05 – Intercession & Prayer Requests (healing, protection of children) 05:05 – Ministry/Health Update: cataract surgery & reading challenges 07:40 – Why the Reformation “never ends”: confronting today's drift 10:15 – Exegesis vs. Eisegesis: letting Scripture speak for itself 13:20 – 2 Timothy 4: Preach, reprove, rebuke, exhort—in that order 17:10 – Counterfeit “revelation” vs. sound doctrine & holy living 21:35 – Walking upstream: being salt & light in a paganized culture 25:10 – Money, “little gods,” and character: what Jesus really forms in us 29:00 – Doctrine = how you live: Monday-through-Saturday discipleship 33:05 – Entertainment, “itching ears,” and the trap of fables 37:20 – Wolves, drift, and the need for apostolic correction 41:00 – Pagan syncretism through history; why “identify with the world” fails 45:30 – Holiness: the “absolute other” and the true counterculture 49:10 – Wounds in the body & in leaders; healing in clean waters 52:30 – Rhythms of the Kingdom: feasts, Sabbath, sanctification cycles 56:00 – Functional Kingdom Theology: practical, faithful obedience 59:20 – One Bible, Whole Counsel: OT foundations & NT fulfillment 1:03:10 – Leaving Babylon step-by-step; being led by the Holy Spirit 1:06:00 – Closing prayer: set our feet on the Pathway of Truth About KIB equips believers with intel for the last days—to stand in truth, reject deception, and live out biblical holiness by the power of the Holy Spirit. Every day, we navigate between analog intuition and digital efficiency, between human wisdom and machine intelligence, between the messy beauty of physical presence and the seductive convenience of virtual interaction. This newsletter series will explore the tensions, paradoxes, and possibilities of being fundamentally analog beings in an increasingly digital world. We're not just using technology; we're being reshaped by it while simultaneously reshaping it with our deeply human, analog sensibilities.Analog Minds in a Digital World: Part 1We Have All the Information, So Why Do We Know Less?I was thinking about my old set of encyclopedias the other day. You know, those heavy volumes that sat on shelves like silent guardians of knowledge, waiting for someone curious enough to crack them open. When I needed to write a school report on, say, the Roman Empire, I'd pull out Volume R and start reading. But here's the thing: I never just read about Rome.I'd get distracted by Romania, stumble across something about Renaissance art, flip backward to find out more about the Reformation. By the time I found what I was originally looking for, I'd accidentally learned about three other civilizations, two art movements, and the invention of the printing press. The journey was messy, inefficient, and absolutely essential. And if I was in a library... well then just imagine the possibilities.Today, I ask Google, Claude or ChatGPT about the Roman Empire, and in thirty seconds, I have a perfectly formatted, comprehensive overview that would have taken me hours to compile from those dusty volumes. It's accurate, complete, and utterly forgettable. We have access to more information than any generation in human history. Every fact, every study, every perspective is literally at our fingertips. Yet somehow, we seem to know less. Not in terms of data acquisition—we're phenomenal at that—but in terms of deep understanding, contextual knowledge, and what I call "accidental wisdom."The difference isn't just about efficiency. It's about the fundamental way our minds process and retain information. When you physically search through an encyclopedia, your brain creates what cognitive scientists call "elaborative encoding"—you remember not just the facts, but the context of finding them, the related information you encountered, the physical act of discovery itself. When AI gives us instant answers, we bypass this entire cognitive process. We get the conclusion without the journey, the destination without the map. It's like being teleported to Rome without seeing the countryside along the way—technically efficient, but something essential is lost in translation. This isn't nostalgia talking. I use AI daily for research, writing, and problem-solving. It's an incredible tool. But I've noticed something troubling: my tolerance for not knowing things immediately has disappeared. The patience required for deep learning—the kind that happens when you sit with confusion, follow tangents, make unexpected connections—is atrophying like an unused muscle. We're creating a generation of analog minds trying to function in a digital reality that prioritizes speed over depth, answers over questions, conclusions over curiosity. And in doing so, we might be outsourcing the very process that makes us wise.Ancient Greeks had a concept called "metis"—practical wisdom that comes from experience, pattern recognition, and intuitive understanding developed through continuous engagement with complexity. In Ancient Greek, metis (Μῆτις) means wisdom, skill, or craft, and it also describes a form of wily, cunning intelligence. It can refer to the pre-Olympian goddess of wisdom and counsel, who was the first wife of Zeus and mother of Athena, or it can refer to the concept of cunning intelligence itself, a trait exemplified by figures like Odysseus. It's the kind of knowledge you can't Google because it lives in the space between facts, in the connections your mind makes when it has time to wander, wonder, and discover unexpected relationships.AI gives us information. But metis? That still requires an analog mind willing to get lost, make mistakes, and discover meaning in the margins. The question isn't whether we should abandon these digital tools—they're too powerful and useful to ignore. The question is whether we can maintain our capacity for the kind of slow, meandering, gloriously inefficient thinking that actually builds wisdom.Maybe the answer isn't choosing between analog and digital, but learning to be consciously hybrid. Use AI for what it does best—rapid information processing—while protecting the slower, more human processes that transform information into understanding. We need to preserve the analog pathways of learning alongside digital efficiency.Because in a world where we can instantly access any fact, the most valuable skill might be knowing which questions to ask—and having the patience to sit with uncertainty until real insight emerges from the continuous, contextual, beautifully inefficient process of analog thinking.Next transmission: "The Paradox of Infinite Choice: Why Having Everything Available Means Choosing Nothing"Let's keep exploring what it means to be human in this Hybrid Analog Digital Society.End of transmission.Marco______________________________________
