This winter has been anything but normal. Our snowiest month so far has been October. And now we're seeing 50 degrees in February. For some life-long Minnesotans, this winter might be considered a nice break. But we were curious what is it like for a Minnesota transplant who was expecting the worst of winter. Aubrey Regner moved from Minnesota to Florida this past summer and chronicled that move on TikTok. Regner has disappointed with the winter so far, to say the least. MPR News guest host Nina Moini talked to her about it.

In her address to the IIEA, for the fifth lecture of the 2022 Development Matters series, supported by Irish Aid, Ms Åsa Regnér, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women discusses conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) in areas experiencing humanitarian crises and conflict. The term “conflict-related sexual violence” refers to rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution, forced pregnancy, forced abortion, enforced sterilisation, forced marriage and any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity perpetrated against women, men, girls or boys that is directly or indirectly linked to a conflict. Ms Regner highlights ways CRSV can be prevented, responded to, and addressed in existing humanitarian crises in Ethiopia, DRC, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Syria. About the Speaker: Ms. Åsa Regnér has been Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women since May 2018. Prior to this, Ms. Regnér served as Minister for Children, the Elderly and Gender Equality of Sweden. She has extensive experience in the area of gender equality and women's empowerment, having held various leadership positions in government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the United Nations. She has led important processes and campaigns as a leading advocate for feminism and gender equality in Sweden and beyond.

German Night is a celebration of German food and culture will be coming to Regner Park on Wednesday, July 13. Saturday, June 16, there are a ton of fun activities for the kids following the Dirty Ninja Mud Run and then music from Buckshot from noon-4 p.m. Both German Night and Regner Fest are put on by West Bend Friends of Parks & Recreation, an organization that helps supplement West Bend's Parks & Rec department in order to make our West Bend parks beautiful above and beyond what's possible on a municipal budget. Chris Regner is an artist born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He works serially, using autobiography as a jumping-off point for satire, humiliation, and explorations of the grotesque. His work tackles a variety of topics, including religious and cultish indoctrination, the effect of technology on societal discourse, how to navigate adulthood as a male with no strong role models, and stereotypical notions of masculinity that find their way into every subject he explores. Using his personal experiences as a foundation, his paintings have questioned archetypes found within these themes, all the while challenging his own values and beliefs. He positions himself as an anti-proselytizer, complicating the easy answer and presenting morally questionable individuals with the intent of causing contradictory interpretations by the viewer. Mobbing, Cyberstalking oder Nacktbilder, die gegen den eigenen Willen veröffentlicht werden: Gewalt im Internet kann viele Formen haben - und für die Opfer oft traumatisierend sein. Besonders betroffen sind Frauen und Mädchen, die stark unter den Folgen leiden. Gleichzeitig ist der Schutz durch das Gesetz aktuell nur unzureichend, kritisiert das Europäische Parlament. Opfer werden nicht ausreichend unterstützt, Täter nicht angemessen verfolgt. Deshalb fordert das Parlament nun eine neue EU-Richtlinie gegen geschlechtsspezifische Gewalt im Internet. Damit sollen die verschiedenen Formen dieser Gewalt nicht nur effektiver bekämpft, sondern Opfer in allen EU-Staaten besser geschützt und unterstützt werden. Über das Thema sprechen wir heute mit Evelyn Regner, Europaabgeordnete und Vizepräsidentin des Europäischen Parlaments.

Es gibt kein Wundermittel, das schlagartig Gleichberechtigung zwischen Mann und Frau schafft. Jeder Fortschritt muss politisch und gesellschaftlich erkämpft werden. Shelley Regner is an actor, singer, and every now and then dancer from Louisiana who has lived in Los Angeles for almost 10 years. She is most notably recognized for her role as the Bella "who's literally been here the whole time," Ashley, in the Pitch Perfect franchise. She earned her B.A. in Theatre Performance from LSU and has continued to perform live throughout her career in both regional and national productions. Credits include UMPO's A League of Their Own, Unauthorized Jennifer's Body Musical, Cruel Intentions Musical, and more. She is an original member of Disney's D Cappella, performing the first national tour and the Hollywood Bowl. Shelley's most recent film role in the dramatic thriller, Adverse, starring Mickey Rourke and Thomas Ian Nicholas can be seen now on digital and DVD. Shelley is an advocate for mental health, body positivity, and a huge lover of coffee and dogs. Shelley and I talk about what it was like growing up in the South and dealing with mental health issues and depression. She is very open about her journey in Hollywood from booking Pitch Perfect to struggling for jobs after that. Shelley and I discuss the importance of therapy, how our families impact our mental health, and much more!
